The United Auto Workers (UAW) is fighting for better pay for workers in the automobile industry as the strike against Ford, Stellantis, and General Motors continues. Here’s the latest on the negotiations:
- UAW has described its conversations with Ford as “reasonably productive”.
- Stellantis is offering an overall wage proposal of nearly 21%, with an immediate 10% increase upon ratification of the contract.
- UAW is still pushing for a 36% wage increase over four years, among other demands.
- In an unexpected twist, Stellantis was offering a possible solution to the Belvidere, Illinois plant situation, but then pulled the offer after the strike deadline was passed. Talk about cold-hearted!
- It remains to be seen how these stalemates in negotiations will play out, but one thing is clear – the UAW is determined to get the workers the pay they deserve, no matter what. Source : Read More
