NY Times Tackles OpenAI Over Copyright Infringements
The New York Times is suing OpenAI and Microsoft for using tons of its articles without asking first.
Turns out, these articles were helping chatbots like ChatGPT get smarter.
Now, other writers and book publishers are also in the ring, trying to put the brakes on these AI models from hoovering up their words without forking over cash.
Microsoft recently invested $13 billion in OpenAI, and the NY Times wants a piece of the action.

Shoppers Unleash Wallet Power
Early November to Christmas Eve saw sales grow by 3.1%, not as big as last year's 7.6% boom, but still solid.
What's Hot and What's Not? Shoppers splurged on clothes, with sales up 2.4%, while jewelry dropped 2%, and gadgets barely slipped.

Apple Watch Ban Frozen
The U.S. Appeals Court has hit the pause button on a sales ban of Apple's latest smartwatches.
What now? The court is demanding the International Trade Commission respond by January 10.
This ordeal, affecting Apple's $17 billion smartwatch business, stems from a claim of patent infringement by medical-tech firm Masimo.
Apple sighs with relief, for now, as the court is permitting the sale of its Series 9 and Ultra 2 smartwatches.
