The Affordable Housing Crisis
Up to 223,000 affordable housing units will lose their affordability within the next five years.
These homes were established through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, which has provided 3.6 million units since 1986.
LIHTC properties remain affordable for 30 years. As buildings reach this limit, many will convert to market rates. LIHTC residents will see rent hikes from $1,100 to $2,660.
Local governments are struggling to secure funding to purchase expiring properties. Many families with incomes below the national median are caught in eviction battles.

TikTok has over three billion global daily searches. Their US ad revenue is set to rise by 38.1% this year, though it still holds just a 3.4% share of the US digital ad market.
Perplexity, an AI search startup, processed 340 million queries in September alone. In contrast, Google processes two trillion searches annually.
Almost 60% of US consumers used a chatbot to help research or decide on a purchase in the past 30 days.

The storm’s path over warm waters will likely fuel its growth. Heavy rain may result in up to a foot of water in parts of Florida.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 35 counties. Milton is the fifth hurricane out of 8 to 13 forecasted for this years.

Nuclear Energy: From Fission to Fusion
For decades, nuclear fission provided reliable electricity but faced setbacks due to high-profile accidents.
Fear persists, despite nuclear’s low death rate of just 0.03 per terawatt hour, comparable to solar and wind. Safer than oil and coal.
Nuclear fusion is emerging as a clean energy solution. Over 40 startups are now developing fusion technology, backed by over $7 billion in funding.
In 2022, researchers achieved net energy from a fusion reaction. However, experts expect commercialization of fusion could take 5-10 years.
