The End of EV Tax Credits

President-elect Donald Trump's transition team plans to eliminate the $7,500 consumer tax credit for electric-vehicle (EV) purchases.

Tesla representatives expressed support for ending the subsidy, suggesting it might hurt competitors more than Tesla itself.

In the third quarter of 2024, Tesla held a market share of nearly 50% of all EV sales. Other automakers like General Motors and Ford lag behind.

Trump aims to use the savings from this tax credit to fund tax cuts which are set to expire.

Unpacking Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting gained popularity in the late 2010s. It primarily aims to reduce calorie intake. Studies suggest time-restricted eaters consume 200 to 500 fewer calories daily.

A six-month study found fasters lost about 8% of their body weight but showed no significant health benefits. Concerns arise regarding muscle mass. Time-restricted eaters reportedly lost double the lean mass compared to fat mass.

Prominent health figures, including Dr. Peter Attia, have reconsidered fasting practices due to muscle loss and unclear benefits. Jake Boone, a former athlete, described mood swings and injuries while fasting, leading him to abandon the practice.

Emerging research remains limited. Most studies involve small groups, primarily focusing on specific conditions like diabetes.
