US Home Sales Hit 14-Year Low
In September, US existing home sales fell to an annual rate of 3.84 million, a decrease of 1% from August. The lowest sales pace since October 2010. Year-over-year sales dropped by 3.5%.
Home inventory increased to 1.39 million units, up 1.5% from August and 23% from last year. A 4.3-month inventory supply.
The median sales price rose by 3% to $404,500, marking a 15-month streak of price increases. Prices are 49% higher than five years ago, while wages grew by 25%.
Only 26% of buyers were first-time homebuyers, an all-time low. Meanwhile, all-cash transactions represented 30% of sales.

McDonaldâs Racing Against E. Coli
An E. coli outbreak linked to McDonaldâs Quarter Pounder sandwiches has sickened at least 49 individuals across 10 states, resulting in one death and 10 hospitalizations.
Onions served on the sandwiches between September 27 to October 11 are suspected as the contamination source.
McDonaldâs removed Quarter Pounders from menus in about 20% of its US locations. The company is also seeking a new onion supplier.
According to recent data, E. coli infections contribute to 74,000 cases annually in the US, leading to 2,000 hospitalizations and 61 deaths.

Apple and Goldman Sachs Hit with $89 Million Fine
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) ordered Apple and Goldman Sachs to pay a total of $89 million after an investigation linked to the Apple Card.
Goldman Sachs faced a $45 million fine, while Apple was fined $25 million. Additionally, Goldman must refund at least $19.8 million to affected customers.
The CFPB found that the companies misled customers about interest-free payment options. Customers received unexpected charges despite believing they had access to interest-free financing for Apple devices.
Goldman is banned from introducing new credit card products unless it submits a credible compliance plan.

Boeing Workers Reject Offer to End Strike
Boeing factory workers rejected Boeing's latest contract offer, which included a 35% wage increase over four years. This offer was turned down by 64% of the voters.
This refusal follows a previous rejection of a 25% pay raise proposal last month.
The union's demands included a 40% pay rise and the reinstatement of a traditional pension plan, which was frozen a decade ago. Current pay for machinists averages $75,608 annually.
Boeing reported a loss of $6 billion in the third quarter.
