Israel and Hezbollah's 60-Day Cease-Fire Agreement
Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a 60-day cease-fire after weeks of US-mediated talks. Polls show 37% of Israelis support the cease-fire, while 32% oppose it.
The cease-fire begins today at 4 AM local time. Both sides accepted the accord with Israel's security cabinet voting 10-1 in favor. President Joe Biden emphasized this agreement aims for a permanent cessation of hostilities.
Under the deal, Israel will withdraw its forces, while Lebanon will deploy 5,000 troops to secure its border. Biden highlighted that civilians on both sides could soon return to their communities.
However, Prime Minister Netanyahu warned of a strong response to any violations by Hezbollah. Meanwhile, Hamas now claims to be ready for a cease-fire too.

Mexico's Response to Trump's Tariffs
Mexicoโs President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized that Trump's proposal for a 25% tariff would harm both economies. Mexico exports 80% of its goods to the US.
She warned of a potential tariff war that could damage joint ventures in the automotive industry, involving General Motors and Ford. In 2022, exports to Mexico comprised nearly 16% of all US.
Sheinbaum noted that illegal border crossings fell from December 2023 to November 2024, thanks to Mexico's own measures.
She also pointed out that the fentanyl crisis is driven by demand in the US and called for international cooperation to combat drug smuggling. She also outlined her country's ongoing steps to tackle illegal migration and drugs,

GLP-1โs for Everyone?
President Biden introduced a proposal to have Medicare and Medicaid cover expensive weight-loss drugs. This plan could benefit millions of obese Americans. Drugs like Wegovy and Zepbound may soon be accessible.
The proposal could cost taxpayers about $35 billion over the next decade. Currently, around 3.5 million Medicare recipients and 4 million Medicaid recipients might qualify for these drugs.
However, research indicates as many as 28 million individuals on Medicaid may be obese. Under this proposal, only individuals with a body mass index of 30 or higher would receive coverage.
A monthly supply of Wegovy costs $1,300, and Zepbound costs $1,000. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. argues that the funds should instead support healthier food options and gym memberships.

PillBot Can See Inside Your Stomach
Endiatx introduced PillBot, a micro-robot designed to enhance gastrointestinal diagnostics. This capsule, about the size of a vitamin pill, wirelessly navigates the stomach and transmits live video, allowing remote physicians to conduct scans.
After patients drink water and swallow PillBot, doctors can control its movement via the internet. PillBot aims to replace invasive endoscopies, which often yield negative results in 80% of cases.
Key features include a 30-minute battery life and a low production cost of $35. This shift could save patients from sedation, hospital visits, and unnecessary costs.
Clinical trials are set to conclude in 2024, with FDA clearance anticipated in 2025 and a commercial launch in the U.S. by early 2026.
