Inflation Eases as Consumer Spending Slows
Consumer prices increased by 0.3% in April, marking a slowdown in inflation for the first time in six months. The annual CPI rise eased to 3.4%, driven mainly by increased shelter and gasoline costs.
Retail sales remained flat in April, signaling reduced domestic demand. Both food and new car prices dropped, while rents and health care became pricier.
Economists predict inflation will decline toward the Fed's 2% target, especially as the labor market cools. The market now sees a 73% chance of a rate cut in September, up from 69% prior.

McCourt has teamed up with Guggenheim Securities for the bid. He hopes to transition TikTok to an open-source protocol for transparency.
However, ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, doesn't plan to sell, and the Chinese government is unlikely to approve a sale.
