Should recent immigrants undergoing asylum approval be subject to heightened law enforcement scrutiny?

sous...So any American using a gun to shoot others in this country should cause all American gun owners to undergo extra scrutiny by having their guns taken away? This administration is just so stupid!!!
gulp...Send the goat fuckers home
gilm...It used to be that immigrants were coming to the USA to become citizens and to live and prosper. Nowadays it seems as though they want to continue the lifestyle of their own country
hcur...A blank "Welcome" should be accompanied with a background check...Look at the open door policies Europeon countries are having
jpwp...There is yet to be an honest Investigation into the shootings. Understanding motives or coercion is critical. These are people that remain politically vulnerable and exploitable.
elsa...Depends on which country they are competing from and background checks
ksit...We need to start taking care of number one first! That's us! If and when you get done with that, then you can start with all of these people who want asylum and whatnot. You never know what their motives are.And that is the problem.
fcse...This appears to be a lone shooter. Adding 500 guards is overkill. Until we know more about this shooter his fellow Afghan asylum seekers should not be penalized.
mich...Seeking Asylum means they’re trying to get away from violence. Why should we assume they are more capable of criminal activity? This is an unfortunate situation because it will be used as a propaganda for treating asylum seekers and immigrants as criminals.
carm...Only if there is just cause.
goin...Anyone entering our country should be put through proper vetting. Common Sense
chri...Very unfortunate. Most immigrants are good and don’t commit crimes. More victims of the American war in Afghanistan
jack...Those voting NO are welcome to receive those refugees into their homes until they are settled.
ltco...I didn’t consider all of the issues at my first quick response. Yes would be a better response. Alliance of Afghan was always fragile. Not sure of real reason for the change in policy.
clay...Depends on whether the individual followed the correct protocols stipulated by law when entering the country
twyl...They are not here for asylum the don't intend to assimilate. They intend to destroy America from within.
knor...If they have gone through rigorous screening for their asylum, why do that twice?
jrv1...There must be a rigorous vetting process. I have no idea what last administration was thinking letting so many in without a process. If you voted no, I suppose you just opened your door on Thanksgiving and let any person who passed by come in.
bjef...a 2 month old child is unlikely to require increased scrutiny, etc. Increased scrutiny where warranted, not where it's not. People driven out by war with little children applying for asylum are far different than a single male from a known terrorist tolerant country with tons of emails call for death to America.
cger...Under the Biden administration 15M (est) unvetted illegal aliens were allowed to invade our country allowing gangs like Tren de Aragua and MS13 to bring their criminal enterprise to prey on American citizens, and Progressive Leftist revel in the idea.
cdfr...Considering the current ice tactics, I would not trust that it would be done properly or within the bounds of the law
cand...I believe that terrorists are smart enough to send people with "clean" records to attack our country.
robl...In the rapid pullout it is possible the proper security background checks were not made. We should review those checks
kelt...immigrants need to vetted. PERIOD
ebr....No, they should get the same amount of scrutiny as everyone else from beginning to end. Duh
fhel...Hang the guy
time...Deport Trump
agba...If Trump would not have deployed the national guard to all of our cities for no good reason, our men and women in uniform would not be put into this situation.
grov...Absolutely
what...Can’t use a broad brush.
lind...Follow the legal process as currently written.
cynt...One bad apple…
alic...The asylum system already has those practices in place.
bfph...You have to be a partisan moron to say NO to this question. Our citizens deserve security first and foremost.

Is it wise for the U.S. to urge Japan to soften its stance on Taiwan to maintain trade relations with China?

paul...Will China and Japan ever truly get along?
cfv8...At some point, doing what is right has to overcome expediency.
bjef...Anything Trump recommends is sure to be wrong. Japan fully understands what is at risk if China invades Taiwan.
cger...Trump is making some deals with the Chinese and doesn't want to "upset the apple cart"
vtgr...It's not all about us!
fcse...Additional pressure on China to leave Taiwan alone should be welcome.
mdul...Trump's foreign affairs strategy has been to 1) do what is mentor and handler, Putin, requires of him and 2) to "Make China Great Again." The latter of those two imperatives is in play here and having Trump deliver a message from China to Japan advances China's rise yo global hegemony.
ebr....Trump should mind his own business.
sous...Again, this administration is driven by Trumps obsessive need to declare he is the biggest peace-maker in history. He has already solved at least a dozen wars! Or was it 15? I’m losing count. Trump is placing the entire region into danger with any discussions about Taiwan. He is also denying a country the opportunity for self determination - yes, kind of the same as the US achieved in 1776! What a hypocrite!!!
robf...At this point, there is nothing “wise” regarding the current administration’s diplomacy. At best, we can only hope that the amateurs in the administration do not destroy all that the US created over the last 8 decades. Trust among nations is a valuable commodity and because of the current POTUS, that is in low supply with nations responding to US floundering at of fear.
brad...Japan is a sovereign nation that can do what it wants without being bossed around by a buffoon.
roll...Nationalist state bullies respond to appeasement with aggression. Trying to “calm things down” when an ally firms their stance on helping us if the common enemy attacks a third party ally is counterproductive. China will eventually attack Taiwan, only the timing is in doubt.
sage...It is what it is. The war ended decades ago. Taiwan is an independent country. The world ought to tell the Chinese to keep hands off Taiwan.
kelt...This will help keep China at bay
tere...US abandonment of Ukrainians & Palestinians emboldens China to swallow Taiwan. Japan, like the rest of the world, sees transaction replacing principle. Bombing Iranian nuclear facilities to aid Israel’s war, bombing Venezuelan boats, and militaristic threats against several nations illustrates rejection of the international order created following WWII. God help the powerless, clearly the USA will not.
atli...Taiwan is an official part of China that will eventually choose closer trade agreements with China over the US as will Japan. That is their choice regardless of the preferences of the US. Trump is meddling in an affair that exists only because of the US mistaken belief in US exceptionalism
spro...For now. Once we have rare earth, magnet and pharmaceutical independence, China won’t be able to afford an invasion
gilm...Toning down rhetoric doesn’t mean they stop preparing
kdmc...Wait, I need to get all of this straight. Trump uses vast amounts of rhetoric to get elected and to claim he can do anything he wants. One thing he wants to do is try to hurt China and get an upper hand by raising tariffs on them. Which only causes them to stop buying US soybeans and causing US farmers to hurt badly. So now, realizing he screwed up, but refusing to actually admit that, he suddenly understands that rhetoric can cause harm and wants our allies to kowtow to China so we can get back to somewhere remotely close to the deal the US already had before he screwed it up? And then he’ll brag about his wonderful negotiating skills? Got it. 👍

Should the Justice Department prioritize victim privacy over full transparency when releasing Epstein-related documents?

jame...Yes, the victims identities should be protected and the people can find out who the perpetrators were when they are indicted, convicted and sent to prison
cynt...The victims have come forward and requested release of the files.
elwa...Based on everything seen so far, the DOJ will use anything and everything to continue its cover-up.
lesa...Names of victims who were minors should not be disclosed.
gilm...Moral obligation to the victims
vita...All the public needs to know is who were the perpetrators and how will they be brought to justice. Everything else is irrelevant.
jule...Not further victimize the victims by releasing their names.
moni...Yes, but, this shouldn’t be used S an excuse by this DOJ to delay release
cbvo...The victims themselves should have final say in whether information should be released. If they review details and ok release -- then release the i nformation.
mich...Some victims have given permission to release their info and some agencies involved in the investigation need to know the sources
nanc...Maybe let the victims decide. I’m guessing most of them would favor full transparency.
spro...Leave out the victims but list the regular attendees to his island. Epstein hated Trump, was a tied to the Clintons and the democrats. I never tire of watching you suckers get trolled. Demand to release the files then wash more mud off your faces
mdul...This is such an unusual case with near unanimous agreement in both legislative houses (and grudging acceptance from Trump after he lost control of this issue) alongside widespread victim pushes for releasing all information. It would seem that a path forward would be to request consent to release from any and all victims that would be affected and then releasing the information for those who have agreed.
jazz...There are too many opportunities for the Trump administration to shield Trump and other favored players from being exposed.
ebr....Not at all. These girls are courageous enough to point out what happened to them, so nothing at all should be put as an obstacle to their receiving justice for what was done to them as children. To add so many stipulations to it is asinine—justice for the victims. Release the unredacted files—no more games.
cger...There is no need to victimize them twice.
rhat...This would be an obvious yes if the the so-called volunteer redactors were not partisan hacks.
bjef...As long as the victims are the young girls, that should be up to them. As far as trying to claim the perpetrators and enablers were victims, then no, because they aren't victims. They were caught because they did something that may have been criminal. The facts need to come out. It's just too bad that some of them are politicians.
walk...While the answer is yes at this point, largely due too, you can’t shut Pandora’s box once open. Pretty sure casualties on both sides.

Given what you know about the allegations, do you believe the Miss Universe Organization can regain public trust?

spro...Who cares?
atli...Why should a meat market of women's bodies even exist regardless of the likely frauds existing within it.
ebr....Beauty pageants are archaic and belong in the past.
bjef...Anything can regain public trust by becoming squeaky clean. Unfortunately all positions of power where money flows in ultimately become corrupted by that money. Look no further than the example of this presidency.
gilm...New owners and transparency are the key to the future success of the Miss Universe enterprise
ksta...Miss America, Miss Universe, etc. have all run their course. Time to say Good Bye.
sous...It’s a trashy program designed to undermine women. Stop it!!
cynt...Beauty pageants are outdated and should stop.
cger...Beautiful, talented women can distract from anything.
kelt...Every Woman is the best in the world. Don't need to judge based on beauty
ja4w...What purpose does this pageant serve? Seems the organization is pointless.
jame...Yes, the actions of a few people shouldn't dictate how an entire organization is viewed. Also, they can regain popularity by having the swimsuit competition, minus the swimsuits.
