Can high-profile stolen jewels ever be successfully recovered or returned?

  • 71% Yes
  • 29% No

EmailComments
trag...The jewels will not be of much worth to the thieves since it will be difficult, if not impossible, to find a buyer for these very unique and priceless jewels. We can hope that the detectives investigating this theft are more competent than the security officers guarding the Louvre. ( I suspect an inside job ) Hopefully there will be a viable trail leading to the stolen goods.
chri...It happens frequently.
omeg...The thieves usually ransom them back
oneo...They'll go to a private collector, if they haven't already.
tubi...their only hope is to sell them to a foreign power or someone with the means to hide them in plain sight. (disguised and displayed as something else)
dsqu...The thieves or someone later, will try to sell them. If they are hidden, having been robbed for a collector, s/he will not live forever. My guess is that these jewels will travel east, to someone whose country wasv harmed by Napoleon or for whom these items have little or no national point of pride.
lind...Interesting if this will be used as a ransom attack.
nanc...Not sure how the thieves can benefit from this heist, unless some billionaire with no scruples buys the jewels. Plenty of them out there, though.
lora...Most of these items will be melted down for the metals such as gold and silver. These people should go to jail for life for stealing these items.
kvas...Coming soon to a theater near you! Starring Brad Pitt!
char...Someone has already paid for them. Or the stones themselves will be put in different settings. No way to prove they are from the heist.

Is Hamas genuinely committed to the ceasefire despite recent events?

  • 75% No
  • 17% Mixed signals
  • 8% Yes

usct...Hamas must commit to Israel’s right to exist. And Israel must commit to Palestinians right to life, liberty, and prosperity. Hamas is killing Palestinians and attacking the IDF. Peace has been tough in the Middle East since 1948. Too much pain on both sides. Too many memories.
pete...Netanyahu will seek ways to blame Hamas for “breaches” because that gives him the excuse he needs to carry on with his attacks. This is the best way to keep his extreme Zionist Cabinet members supporting him. Hamas have nothing to gain.
walk...It doesn’t appear they want peace any more than Putin. Surrender doesn’t change philosophy
jaco...Hamas remains committed to eliminating Jews. existential threat not going away
atli...If Israel were to agree to disarm along with Hamas and the US stopped shipping weapons to Israel and a 3rd party protectorate were installed the one state solution could begin assuring long term peace. No one is safe until everyone is safe.
nanc...To my knowledge, they never agreed to put down their arms.
omeg...They have nothing to gain
robs...Hamas and the remaining Palestinians / Gazans remain solely committed to killing / murdering all Jews (and Christians) as clearly and consistently demonstrated.
cica...They’re terrorists. They just wanna kill something or blow something up.
joll...WTF? This is not an unbiased question! Israel is a terrorist nation ! Is Hamas committed? Is Israel committed to letting the aid in to a starving population? How about the other 1000s of Palestinian hostages still suffering without charge in Israeli prisons?
perm...They proved they are not committed to the terms of the ceasefire by executing Gaza’s citizens and refusing to disarm.
fcse...Neither is Israel under Netanyahu
tubi...neither side can be trusted. israel has killed so many that generations will be looking for revenge.
kelt...Hamas are not humans , they are gutless, merciless scum of the earth and they need to be eliminated.
lora...Some of the leaders of Hamas do not want to give up control. they will be eliminated and then peace will happen.
nish...Hamas is a terrorist organization. They thrive on chaos. Israel is not blameless here - they definitely committed genocide and war crimes.

How credible is the U.S. claim that Colombia’s government supports illegal drug production?

  • 35% Very credible
  • 22% Unsure

lora...It is great to have a President who wants to protect Americans from Drug lourdes. He should be commended. The next step is to make it the death penalty for drug dealers caught in the US including elites who get caught.
chri...What does "support" even mean? Official policy only or do you include corrupt officials? Etc.
usct...It is difficult to believe any information that comes from the Trump Administration. Too much deception. And that is unfortunate.
fnpn...Columbia = Narco since the 1970’s
fc95...US Gov lies about so much, it is hard to believe anything they say, no matter how credible it sounds
beck...Come on folks! Columbia?
walk...Oh come on, you can’t operate these crops in a vacuum. Government knows exactly where this is going on if they even causally want to. They are either enjoined or more fearful of the drug lords the US actions.
nanc...How can anyone trust this administration? They spew lies constantly.
jlcg...What does support means? Providing resources? Taking bribes to look the other way at the appropriate time? Considering that as long as drugs do not infestate the country, they are more pressing priorities?
1hal...Cartels run the countries where they openly operate. Look at Mexico, they have a leader back to his sons when contested. Weak or corrupt leaders are in these countries.
nish...Trump is not credible and has only put his cronies in power to back him. He cannot be trusted.
omeg...its been happening for years, previous administrations have ignored this for years
hine...Inaction or slow action is support. Colombia could always do more if they wanted to dedicate their own resources to aggressive eradication.
jord...After researching this point, though briefly, I feel like it is likely that individuals have accepted bribes. Despite that corruption, it is not a basis to declare the entirety of the Columbian government to be supporters of drug trafficking. Furthermore; with our present leadership, I don't feel like this is the time to use proclamations of corrupt leadership as a shield.
stev...Perro is a narco guerilla.

What is the biggest threat to China’s economic growth right now?

  • 47% Trade tensions with the U.S.
  • 30% Weak domestic consumption
  • 23% Property market decline

EmailComments
omeg...The US is the worlds largest market for all global economies, China is no exception
walk...While admittedly not understanding China’s domestic rule and economy, perhaps their economy is reaching a level of maturity. Continued big growth numbers may not be realistic?
fnpn...The numbers that China report are not to be trusted. Communist regimes often manipulate numbers to look the way they want.
chri...It impacts demand and the general mood around CPC rule. It is a big threat to Party Rule. Regional heads will roll. The Chinese people aren't stupid. They didn't want to give their hard-earned money to state owned banks so real estate was the only available option. They also get that this economic oppression in the form of capital and banking restrictions combined with local and regional governments funding coming from land sales drove this bubble and is tied to their losses of 80% of their savings.
laur...housing market in China is collapsing due to over building.
robs...They are dealing with a real estate crisis 5 times worse than the U.S. financial crisis of 2008 - 2009!!! Millions of frustrated working age people in their 20’s are not being assigned jobs and are still living with their parents.
atli...The US continues to play the zero sum game that is destroying its own economy and that of the rest of the world. Cooperation over competition is the answer. China has always been willing.

lora...Drug dealers selling Fentanyl should be given the death penalty. They are actually serial killers. We should also prosecute individuals who knowenly bought fentanyl or illegal opiods by putting them in jail for minimum ten years. this will stop the drug trade
