Just facts, you think for yourself
Should the US take military action against drug cartels in Mexico?
- 72% Yes, they pose a national security threat
- 28% No, that would escalate tensions unnecessarily
Comments | |
---|---|
mich... | Should have been done a long time ago |
hele... | Find a way to deter drug use in the US. The US are the ones using the drugs. |
aaro... | Cartels are the number one threat to US national security and their drugs have killed and/or destroyed far more lives than any middle east terror organizations ever have or could. |
iris... | Why would Mexico not want to clean up their gangs? Look how El Salvador improved? |
kyle... | I think we need to secure our borders and cut down on the trafficking of drugs into our country. If they can't sell the drugs here, they go out of business. |
rgar... | Obviously the Mexican government can't or won't do anything about the cartels. The new Mexican president talks about her countries soventry. Trump will and should make the cartels insolvent, make them go away. Forget about the drugs that kill thousands Amreicans every year The billions of dollars the US spends to feed, house and provide for illegals that the cartels smuggle into our country. Forget all of that and only think of children trafficked for sex, think about nothing else, they should be eliminated from the face of this earth. Trump is the Leader than will do it. |
jrga... | I farmed legally farmed produce and imported products to Nogales, Arizona, from Culiacan Sinaloa, Mexico, from 1985 to 2010. As US Citizens, we traveled to Culiacan via private jets to a guarded airplane hangar, then had two vehicles follow the lead car with guards with automatic weapons. We had significant kidnap policies on our executives for Mexico. I met with a group of US Senators in Mexico in the '90s to talk about the problems of corruption in all of Mexico, which the US was ignoring, and it has only become a worse problem over the past 25 years. The county is a threat to the USA. |
sesi... | The Mexican government is compromised and under control of the cartels. |
tubi... | yes. nothing more need be said. |
erwi... | 100% Absolutely |
jros... | Though not by incursion but with the approval of the Mexico govt. |
tcol... | If the cartels are operating on US soil, then “Yes” just like any other criminal organization. We have no business invading Mexico with our military to attack cartels. That is Mexico’s problem to deal with unless they ask for US military assistance. |
rgru... | Poor wording of the 2 options. A choice between a national security threat (very ambiguous) and the other choice escalate tensions unnecessarily (at most a milktoast option) |
perm... | If Mexico is unable (or unwilling?) to cripple and eradicate the violent cartels, they should welcome the US’s assistance in the same. Unless, Mexico doesn’t actually want the cartels eradicated for some reason??? The cartels pose a threat to Mexico’s citizens the same as US citizens. It does no good to improve quality of life for Mexico’s people if the cartels are allowed to control the country. Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo must think no one in this country, or hers, has eyes and ears if she expects us to believe that the cartels have no influence in the Mexican government. |
cynd... | The US should stop the flow of guns into Mexico to give the Mexican government a better chance to fight the cartels themselves. Many of these cartels have military grade US weapons. |
rand... | the renal threat comes from within the Us and those that use these drugs; no use equals no market equals no drugs coming in |
zack... | Mexicos constitution clearly states this would be an act of war. Trump admin has shown to be anti war too. Having worked in this field for 15 years I understand that these terrorists organizations are embedded in the government’s of Mexico and Venezuela. Hopefully we can force Mexico to act through trade policy instead of Military escalations. |
chri... | Here’s a clearer and more persuasive revision of your argument: --- Yes, they should take action—by fully legalizing all drugs. Prohibition has only made drugs more available, purer, and cheaper. If all drugs were legal, marketing could be restricted to adults, overdose deaths from inconsistent potency would disappear, and we would stop fueling violent transnational criminal empires. Trying to fight these organizations with sanctions and weapons is a losing battle—there's simply too much money at stake. Take one down, and another will rise to meet the demand and claim the profits. The only real solution is to regulate and control the market rather than letting criminals run it. |
jimp... | A serious threat to Americans and corrupting influence in Mexico |
neal... | I don’t think we should be starting another war in our backyard. Unless we have the blessing of the Mexican People and Government. |
gbtk... | Unsolicited Military action in a foreign country is considered war. |
dusi... | Get them outta here!!🤬 |
agsh... | put them out of business |
joll... | First the US should stop funding Israel because the Israeli government is an extremist racist organization. IDF is the biggest terrorist organization! |
serg... | Cartels can buy governments |
uuce... | If the Mexican government asks for help, yes. If not, it would violate their sovereignty |
bigl... | Their influence and power have only grown, we have no choice to either stop them now, or cower to them in the future |
chri... | It has to be in partnership with Mexico. There is a huge risk though that once the cartels are attacked they will wage war and terror to dissuade |
geor... | When we have real Statesmen/women dealing with other countries, we can achieve better results in helping eliminate drugs and all manner of criminal activity at our borders and within other countries. |
wrwa... | Do whatever it takes to eliminate the gangs and businesses. Mexico should welcome our help. |
davi... | Why would we want a war with Mexico? |
gapp... | Mexico is a narco state, almost to a point of a failed state. Do we really want these ruthless cartels to gain enough strength to be say, an Iran or North Korea, this close to our border? |
dbmj... | It's too late and not our place to enter Mexico. Our governments current leaders have lost the ability to maintain a democratic system. By isolating ourselves from our allies and trying to undermine the Constitution, we are currently being governed by a delusional group of mindless leaders who have turned our allies into enemies. The drug problem lies in the USA. Eliminate the drug addicts and the cartels won't have any customers. Remove the oligarchs who have currently taken control of our government, and place leaders who have extensive knowledge of world history and the rule of law to lead our country. |
mike... | A JDAM in their house would quickly end their activity. I know everyone will say that someone will just pop up to take their place but the US military can play whack a mole for a long time. |
jamf... | I say this b/c of the "Rape Tree" Pam Bondi and Ted Cruz referenced at one of the border entrances. The Cartel has their way with women AND teen girls prior to allowing them to enter the US., then takes their underwear and hangs it on a tree. President Biden and Kamala looked the other way while this occurred for YEARS. We must be complicit no longer... |
kend... | No absolutely not. Assist the Mexicans to do the policing themselves. Violation of national sovereignty shouldn’t be a solution. Although history has seen us violate many things including overthrowing democratic elected governments. It doesn’t make it right. |
nanc... | Did they include Cartel de Biden, who sucked out fortunes from the American people, and tried to destroy the nation? No? Too bad . |
jodu... | We need to quit supplying the Cartels with their weapons and that would allow the Mexican government to control their own problems. Our guns are arming the Cartels. |
stil... | The Mexican government should be the one to prosecute the cartels, not the US. |
ttim... | Bomb all facilities and gathering places. |
kevi... | People wanting to invade a bordering allied sovereign nation is wild. Thats what this implies. Anything in your justification is not your own thoughts, but the effects of propoganda soup brain. Y'all need to get off Fox and Friends... |
ebr.... | No way. There's enough madness going on. There's no need to fan the flames. |
drol... | So it's okay for us to get involved in Mexico 's problems but not ukraines? I believe in getting involved in both just saying |
joni... | We should quit selling the cartels guns. Most of their weapons come from Texas. |
dajo... | Maybe then the Mexican government would take action instead of lining their pockets. |
rbp1... | That should be enough |
midc... | Only if working w Mexican government |
How often do you shop at Walmart?
- 71% Rarely or never
- 29% Regularly (at least once a month)
Comments | |
---|---|
best... | Lowest prices around; also like the convenience of ordering & picking up items. |
tubi... | there are little options in rural america. |
greg... | Walmart has a history of harming American jobs through size and scale. Forcing US manufacturers to sell at prices that make US manufacturing impossible and ultimately leading to the closure of US plants as those jobs are moved overseas. Additionally, they have killed small businesses in communities, replacing those with low-paying jobs, limited to just enough hours that they can get away with not providing full-time benefits. I don't shop there because I don't like their business practices |
stev... | I encourage everyone to not shop at Walmart. |
twin... | Never! Wont go there. Dont like their policies. Dont need anything that much to buy anything there! |
vegi... | Obviously Walmart needs to give all their employees raises. A little less profit and a little more humanity please. |
bran... | I get free Walmart+ membership from credit card and still only use it like 1-2 a year |
geor... | In Florida where we are Snowbirds, really nothing is cheap at Walmart, but except for ALDI, they are certainly better than most other stores. At home in Indiana we have more locations of ALDI so we shop Walmart for items ALDI doesn’t carry. |
rols... | Price is preferred over quality. |
joll... | Never. 👎 don’t care if Walmart profits drop. The owners are amping the richest people in America and they got that way by being cheap and greedy. |
stil... | We buy groceries there. |
judy... | I don't support Walmart's policies. I like to give my business to locals. |
mmca... | Target |
mars... | But only once a month |
ebr.... | Stopped shopping at Walmart 20 years ago. |
dian... | Prefer local small business and resale |
gbtk... | Yuck! |
kevi... | Pay extra to shop local and regional. A strong, diverse local economy encourages a stronger community and keeps the money local. This also provides layers of insulation from broader economic shocks. |
arth... | Prices just as bad as all the other stores stores low or out of stock never enough self service registers open getting worse and worse |
arth... | Convenient to buy from their food market stores. As for the Chinese junk they sell, prefer to buy that online from Amazon. |
mimi... | Walmart begun the the destruction of US manufacturing, beginning in the 1980's and continuing to this day. The Waltons buy football teams but do not support other charitable causes. Walmart contributes to the destruction of the environment by supplying cheap goods that decimate natural resources and fill garbage dumps. Walmart mistreats employees. |
jodu... | I go there occasionally, but I am 87 and live independently in a large CCR. So some of my meals are provided by PVE. |
swjo... | Small town, largest stock; note I did not say best stock! If you want best make a road trip |
mile... | Two or three times a week!! Using Walmart Delivery. |
will... | The Walmart near me is not a great shopping experience. but I go there because the prices are significantly lower that the Publix supermarkets in my city for exactly the same brands and sizes. Publix stores are cleaner, closer, better organized and maintained and I shop there too. |
clau... | It is all from CC |
wlof... | I notice that WalMart has really upped its game both in store and online and has more local choices than amazon. |
cmri... | I never buy anything from Walmart or Sam's Club due to the obscene wealth of the Walton family. They pay next to nothing to their employees and they squeeze suppliers due to their large buying volumes. They are greedy, greedy people. They demonstrate the abuse of capitalism. |
patr... | I will no longer shop there because it has become too political, donating to republicans and removing DEI initiatives. |
Do you think that the job market is more stable now than it was a year ago?
- 79% No, it’s more uncertain
- 21% Yes, things have improved
Comments | |
---|---|
wlof... | Federal Layoffs have not been included in these numbers. |
lewi... | The White House is waging war on federal employees. The tariffs will also lead to higher prices on goods and less demand. |
jros... | Business began downsizing when Donnie won. This will be a temporary improvement on corporate profit but overall the consumer will back off this year and recede we will. They don’t get it. Companies need healthy wealthy customers. |
suzh... | Federal employees being fired in revenge and retribution. They will be flooding the market. |
jure... | Musk is firing everyone |
uuce... | People are taking jobs that do not pay a living wage to replace jobs that did. Firing federal workers will impact everyone. When one loses a job, they reduce spending, that reduces spending by the business that used to be frequented by the person who lost the job. It is a downward spiral and this economy is headed down. |
lisa... | Are you kidding me. Under Maga so many good humans have been fired! doing their work for the government or forced to quit because they have good hearts & minds and don't have intelligence in leadership. Others have been brutally sent away, hard workers. Mega folks dont want to work hard labor, fields, construction, they prefer to file unemployed. |
best... | Layoff with losing earned retirement. Very unfair! |
drol... | How can it be stable when the government's laying off everybody and cutting programs that's going to have a rippling effect on everything?. |
jodu... | With all the government layoffs and tariff issues, we are going to see a lot of unemployment. Big business is already working on cutting back staff and the ill planned layoffs in D.C. will take their toll on our economy. |
mary... | Firing all those federal workers will bite us in the ass. |
andr... | AI is going to change the game to an unprecedented level. |
kibb... | With the federal employee firings the job market is flooded with people looking for work. The job market is going to be tougher than usual. |
cgat... | Second and third order affects of the federal firings and deportations will adversely effect adjacent businesses. |
mlee... | And it will get worse with all the government-created job losses. |
chri... | And the uncertainty in the business environment with the new administration will likely exacerbate issues. |
rene... | The mass federal layoffs will make joblessness numbers spike |
stil... | Trump's layoffs have created considerable uncertainty. |
clyn... | No one knows what the new administration is going to do next which causes uncertainty in jobs and lives. |
tubi... | it will soon be in chaos thanks to the pedophile-in-chief. |
cb10... | Due to trump and company. Slashing is not the way to do things. |
hele... | Get rid of Musk |
kenh... | There seems to be new administration attempt to destabilize the job market with mass federal layoffs, removing illegal aliens without a reformed way to let foreign workers in to fill certain labor areas, and tariffs. |
ajgo... | Trump & Co. are ruining the economy, along with our 250-year democracy |
cmri... | Massive Federal layoffs with no warning, rhyme or reason leads to incredible instability of job market. |
geor... | The loss of Federal workers has just begun. Those taking the President’s offer won’t show up on the unemployment numbers until October or November. The real impact over the next year will be the public employees losing their jobs because of all those GSA leases and other Federal contracts that will be cancelled over the next year. Once the Pentagon contracts are cancelled, the unemployment numbers will rise exponentially. Then all those unemployed people will stop purchasing items, stop traveling, etc. and that will create another large group of unemployed Americans. |
rpat... | With the Federal government adding its DOGE nonsense, no one seems to have reason to believe any job is stable, regardless of the quality of work being done. |
Who do you feel is more at fault in the JPMorgan $150 million scam case?
- 55% Charlie Javice for committing fraud
- 45% JPMorgan for failing due diligence
Comments | |
---|---|
doug... | Hard to believe at this point in the poll anyway, that 44% pin the blame on Morgan when Javice committed the fraud. Wonder if they would feel that way if they were personally victims of fraud? |
bhad... | Both |
mmca... | One is a crime, the other is just stupid. We’ve all done stupid things, but most people are not criminals (too optimistic?) |
joni... | Actually, they're both at fault. |
fjfi... | $unefr $2K for due diligence? Thts Prima Facia gross negligence! |
adkl... | JP Morgan is also blame-worthy. There is zero excuse for missing this mismanaged oversight - as a customer & tav payer speaking. |
urmi... | A big company like JP Morgan should not fall for such fraudulent behavior. It loses its credibility. There will always be fraudsters trying to make quick money. Musk was smart enough to see it when trying to buy Twitter |
debi... | Actually, both are equally at fault. |
rgar... | Usually people that commit crimes are responsible for them!!!!!! Not the victim. |
roci... | En realidad ambos, uno por cometer fraude inflando cifras y los otros por no revisar los datos que les fueron entregados. |
mimi... | Isn't that their job? They fail at their own responsibilities and then blame others? Ridiculous. |
bran... | She committed fraud AND Chase failed at proper DD. But one is a crime and one is foolish in this case. I do international DD for a living. Me missing a mistake is on me, and you can often smell fraud. But we can't investigate for every aspect of fraud, that needs the justice system. |
mmey... | The criminal is always more at fault but JPMorgan is also at fault for lack of due diligence |
kink... | Falsified data was a key factor for valuation. 4 million users vs the actual >300,000. C’mon |
midc... | The scammer got scammed, they should have done a deeper review of the acquisition. |
will... | If the allegations are true, Javice obviously in criminally responsible but JPMorgan failed colossally with lack of prudence and due diligence. |
sver... | More important to be an honest person than to put the blame on a trusting investor |
jsch... | Both are guilty! Charlie and the COO should get maximum prison time. The database guru should get maximum time and JPMorgan should eat the loss…NO GOVERNMENT BAILOUT FOR LAZINESS AND STUPIDITY!! |
jodu... | I expect a bank as large as JPMorgan to have the resources to check for fraud. They have to protect their customer's investments. No doubt there was fraud and they should throw the book at the fraudster. Somebody didn't do due diligence. |
miss... | Fault starts and stays with the criminal who conceived and executed the fraud. It is possibly true that a better investigation would have revealed the fraud but that doesn’t make the person committing the fraud less culpable. Scams and frauds are intended to deceive. Being taken in by fraud doesn’t make it the fault of the victim no matter how sophisticated they might be. |
uuce... | JP Morgan is also at fault |
fmge... | Fraud is a crime regardless of the bank's lack of diligence. |
chri... | Crooks be crooks. But for a bank to fail in their fiduciarry duty to their shareholders at such a level is borderline criminal. |
wlof... | Going to the trouble to hire data scientists to fake users is inexcusable. |
mass... | I feel JP Morgan is also at fault for failing due diligence, It’s incompetence at best and sounds like they need to investigate the deal further in house |
gbtk... | JP Morgan shares the blame for lack of oversight. |
tubi... | the fraudster is at fault, of course, but whatever punishment is given should be relative to punishment given historically. |
gise... | Saw it as easy money and failed to do due diligence . Javice is guilty of fraud . Both parties are to blame . |
larr... | Obviously the criminal but JP Morgan was very incompetent in the acquisition and has a lot of culpability and answering to shareholders. |
dajo... | JP Morgan should be embarrassed with their level of diligence and someone should be fired for that, but that doesnt excuse the criminal fraud committed by Charlie Javice. |
