Just facts, you think for yourself

Will a weaker yuan help China more than tariffs hurt it — or will the U.S. tariff wall outweigh the benefits of devaluation?

  • 59% Tariffs outweigh benefits
  • 41% Helps China more

andr...If Trump is resetting global trade balances, China, which has greater industrial capacity and cheaper goods, is naturally going to win.
anth...The tariff numbers, as now stated, are overwhelming. If they come down to reasonable levels, then the devaluation will have noticeable effect.
sdsa...Team China at this point tbh
robs...This isn’t an opinion type question. Just do the math for us and tell us.
cica...Trump’s bullying of the world has now turned the world against us. Nobody likes a bully. And for all of the people who aren’t paying attention around the world, everyone likes cheap prices. The people who can afford to will actively not purchase any American products. Everyone else will just buy whatever is cheaper. America’s screwed at this point.
ebr....Tariffs are dumb, but maybe it'll work to our benefit in this instance.
mdul...A weaker yuan makes Chinese exports cheaper in global markets, helping offset the effect of tariffs by making Chinese goods more competitively priced. It can support Chinese exports and attract new foreign buyers who would then find Chinese goods more affordable. Practically, though, the scale of the tariffs suggests that weakening the yuan within its limits cannot fully offset them. However, I think the more pertinent question is whether China is likely to escalate the war even more by doing things like stopping export of rare earth minerals or placing an export tax on them that hurts the US (some 75% of US imports of these critical materials come from China). Recall also that In a world where the US and China don’t permit any trade at all, China can continue its growth with only some slowing since they have the population to support the development. It is true that some 18% of China's exports in 2019 went to the US but that dropped to 14% in 2023. I think that is less than most people believe and you can see the trend of less reliance on the US as an export partner. Additionally, people have this view of China as solely a low-labor-rate country but that is an outdated view. China is challenging the US with its development of EV, AI, and even chip design & production.
pilo...Boost chinas trade with the rest of the world while the USA turns inward
zack...Just another clear example of China manipulating their currency. Now the world gets to see it in real time.
madm...The weaker yuan will reduce the cost of goods and services from and in China offsetting the effects of a tariff
davi...China is doing this on purpose. The country can affect a lower currency moreso than the US could mimic the same because of the dollar's international support. This in combination with flooding markets outside the US will defend against tariffs.
rsle...You should also ask how bad it will be in the US with high priced Chinese imports that we ALL depend on now
rodn...Keep the Chinese out of companies back pocket. They steal our technology and don't pay the price. A company should own their own technology without being blackmailed.
atli...Neither American nor Chinese consumers benefit from Trump's zero sum negotiations in which only he gets to win.
kvnl...What China fails to realize is that Americans will buy American! The Chinese people don’t live like Americans, they live in communistic country under rule, they don’t know any different! China is playing chicken but they are about to get hit by the car!

Is it realistic to expect Israel to withdraw from the southern hilltops without broader regional guarantees — or should territorial compromise be on the table?

  • 69% Not realistic without guarantees
  • 31% Compromise should be considered

ebr....I have not been keeping up with it...
rodn...Israel has given and given in good faith over the years. They have proven they will work together. The terrorists say they will compromise, but that has always been an empty statement.
arth...Let Israel work out it’s own defense without world interference. Hold on to the high ground.
jllm...Pull back so they can re-arm secretly. No
zack...Until Israel gets their U.S. vs Iran war then none of this is going to stop. Not sorry for the truth bomb!
jean...Hezbollah has exhibited no reason to trust them
cica...The years of fighting and mayhem and basically murder and counter-murder hasn’t produced a single thing. Israel’s gotten stronger and the Palestinian position has gotten weaker. Sometimes you gotta quit when you’re behind.

If more evidence surfaces, should Chinese involvement shift the West’s posture toward sanctions or containment — or avoid escalation?

  • 77% Shift posture
  • 23% Avoid escalation

madm...Tariffs are not effective in controlling China as that government can manipulate the ecconomy. China needs direct opposition. Trump needs to increase support in Ukraine. This is a test of the USA resolve.
ebr....We should have gone to help Ukraine as soon as Putin started bombing children's daycares. Slava Ukraini. Let's beat Russian soldiers back to their homes. Crimea is Ukraine, Donbas is Ukraine, and many other cities are Ukraine. Ukraine should have been accepted into NATO quickly, so our alliance would have protected it. I'm not even sure if we're part of NATO anymore. Damn Trump and his regime. Protect our friends in Ukraine
atli...All that comes of war is more violence. The US missed its best opportunity to protect Ukraine and avoid massive deaths was to have actually negotiated in good faith when Putin offered his talking points prior to the beginning of the conflict. But there would still be opportunity if Trump were not the negotiator.
mah3...Under normal circumstances the US should support Ukraine in all efforts to keep its sovereignty and push back on China and Russia. However with the current administration, which is anything but normal, Trump is threatening the same vile conduct with Canada and Greenland so that makes the US, a hypocrite. Regardless, if we have any hope of salvaging the US’s position as the leader of the free world and support our allies, we must continue to support Ukraine against all aggressors including China
jllm...Tired of China f-them
mdul...This question is difficult to answer since the first step must be to define the end goal. The Biden administration's goal was clear - they wanted to contain the conflict and create a global coalition isolating Russia to reduce its appetite for expansionism and leading to peace talks that would have Russia withdrawing after ongoing diplomatic efforts. The Trump administration goals are less clear. Trump has, to date, always found a way to appease Putin and support Russia and it appears that this remains the case, while he also seeks to take economic control of Ukraine's key industries and exports. If that is, indeed, Trump's agenda, he would likely seek to avoid escalation even though that kind pf appeasement is a mistake proven repeatedly by history.
cica...Yeah, the trade war Trump started has seriously undermined our position in this regard. The rest of the world is not gonna wanna cooperate with any sanctions we put on.
zack...If Russia doesn’t come to the table then the U.S. posture will shift massively. The U.S. will enforce massive sanctions. Including sanctions on anyone buying from Russia. Imagine a world where Europe doesn’t fund Russia while fighting a proxy war!!!
arth...China is a continuing threat To world peace and has hegemonic ambitions all over the world. Continue to step down hard on its wealth building capabilities.

Do you feel your home equity is part of your financial plan — or something you avoid tapping into?

meli...Current mortgage rates aren’t the deciding factor- I try and avoid extra debt where I can
cand...Home equity is a nice little extra but I do not count it as part of my financial plan.
cica...With a crazy man running the world’s economy there’s no financial move if you would want to make right now. You don’t want to take out a loan you don’t wanna buy an automobile you don’t want to tap your home equity. You don’t even wanna own stocks at this point.
jllm...Living on the street doesn’t entice me
arth...It is a backup for short term borrowing, if necessary, to protect against having to pull down investments.
mah3...While the preference is to not touch it if Trump and his moron minion advisors continue to destroy the economy we will have no choice.

Do you trust food labels to accurately reflect the health risks of additives — or assume there’s much they don’t disclose?

  • 92% I assume there’s more hidden
  • 8% I trust them

nord...any food or drink that has additives I cannot pronounce or know what they really are (like types of sugar), I will not purchase or use.
cica...Yeah, I trust what the label is telling me. Unfortunately, I’m probably not always aware of how bad whatever is listed on the label is for me.
atli...While there is more hidden, I do not trust that RFK, Jr. is capable of finding them.
jllm...I watched them mix these and make these products personally and wondered if they listed everything they put in them, just so much.
cand...I don't believe that companies are hiding things on purpose but instead believe that there is much that will be discovered as more and more studies are done on different additives.
ebr....Of course, they're not honest. Food looks and tastes different today.
mah3...So much is hidden. However with the mental midget in charge of the FDA “making America healthy again” we have no hope of solving the problem, but certainly will be filled with lots of junk science and cod liver oil!
zack...I worry about the 10% of people that trust food labels. They probably think that Musk is a Nazi and Biden was actually running the country lol
bmdu...The problem is that even if they mist it we don’t know what it is or if it’s bad. I had no idea carrageenan was bad
over...This I why RFK was a great pick for HHS
