chri... | I suspect China will make some concessions to preserve their vital access to US market |
ther... | Anyone that supports China’s Anna fair work conditions should go over there and work and come back and report |
sesi... | This is what tariffs were meant to accomplish. Hopefully China negotiates now |
wfer... | I believe the impact is temporary and gaps will eventually be filled by others. It creates mire opportunity for free countries to grow and expand. |
kfer... | It will likely affect China until USA starts buying again at whatever the tariff level is set. China will concentrate on other markets, then USA will have to compete to buy. |
isel... | It’s a world economy today. Trump is living in the 50’s |
jeff... | file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/4c/12/0C0C5E5E-8FFA-4CC6-8EBB-BEF29B7B1C9D/IMG_1369.png |
ldro... | They should pay their fair share. Until they do, they need to pay the increased tarrifs. |
evep... | Our world has grown smaller and we, as Americans. must try harder to live in economic peace with the world and one another. |
cavm... | Tariff wars have been shown throughout history as foolish, counter-productive, and harmful. The depression in the U.S. was caused/exacerbated by the Smoot-Hawley tariff. Failing to learn from historical mistakes means repeating them. The manufacturing slump in China is the direct result of the Trump tariffs. Very foolish policy. |
brod... | I don’t believe that China’s is a true, hands-off market economy. The government and the Chinese Communist Party play manipulative roles there. |
maxn... | It’s certain that China’s economic outlook will be based on USA and China’s tariffs agreement. However, China’s overall economic performance serves less than 25 % of its population; meaning that despite of reduced economic output, the majority of households; I.e, the actual workforce will be okay as their household income is not entirely the driving factor of their daily sustenance as it remains within pre China’s global market presence. The 25% percent who are impacted, who have assimilated to capitalism lifestyle, by de-facto thru high tech, pharmaceutical, and automotive industry employment or affiliation, must throttle their expectations for continued lifestyle until tariffs are settled. The button line is this, despite of China’s global economic presence, it’s the CCP that’s benefiting the wealth and not the majority of China’s population. |
robs... | Can't wait to read next month reports of how China's economy will have achieved robust year over year growth in spite of US tariffs! |
diar... | We need to curtail China’s ambitions to dominate the worlds global economy.. everything & anything manufactured these days seems to be produced in China .. not healthy |
mpie... | Tarrif war bad for all. |
melz... | but we'll see how long term the stress lasts |
elie... | In the long run slowing China is good. Their costs are not reflected in their prices, they are dumping their product in order to develop their economy. In order to be a healthy development, the pepducrion conditions have to be sincere and fair. |
dbmj... | It's absolutely ridiculous to suddenly implement tarrifs on China. Who for the past forty or fifty years, has provided the USA with affordable prices through extremely cheap labor. Especially after a world pandemic which we've all barley recovered from. |
scar... | We are one globe, not made up of individual ones. If we continue to operate as us vs everyone, we will fail. |
serg... | China does not import consumer goods therefore does not affect worlds economy. The will not stop the import of commodities bc they are essential. |
bayr... | Decreases in production of footwear to major retailers my lesson supply of |
atli... | Trump's insane economic policy is likely to destroy the world economy. It pails only in comparison to his insane social policies. |
nanc... | Between what’s going on in this country (the huge deficit increase) and China, both huge movers of the world economy, there will be huge repercussions. |
neil... | Its the decline of the fascist state of America that will bring turmoil |
fnib... | China uses child labor and are big human rights offenders. We need to stop allowing them to sell their cheap goods worldwide. Americans need to buy "Made in USA" to support our own economy and workforce. |
lesf... | We don’t care! |
gina... | Many companies have already de-risk and moved manufacturing out of China to other countries. There will be impact but not as big as it could have been. |
jmma... | Smart business will look to other Countries as well as build in the US - opportunity! |
jamf... | We need to reverse our Chinese dependency and return manufacturing to USA! |
Should international payment networks like Visa and Mastercard bear responsibilities for how their systems are exploited?
- 95% Yes, they have a duty to monitor usage
- 5% No, users are solely responsible for their actions
Comments | |
---|---|
ebr.... | Nobody believes in personal responsibility anymore? Come on. |
nosk... | While business talks big about responsibility history has shown they will exploit if not watched. |
bria... | While global platforms can't be wholly responsible for their users' behaviors, they should have an obligation to actively monitor and report suspicious activity. |
fnib... | Monitoring Terrorism is everyone's duty. ESPECIALLY in the financial sector. |
anas... | A charge that large, and on credit, should immediately be flagged and investigated. No matter the client. |
kfer... | Should cooperate with country security to stop fraud and illegal transactions, but not have to fully do this themselves |
elie... | PAYMENT METHOD SHOULD LEAD THE CONTROL Nevertheless both, users and payment methods have to monitor their cards. |
john... | Monitoring could avoid security and fraud issues. |
brya... | KYT, know your transaction. |
mdul... | My answer is a guarded "yes". They are responsible for following the laws and sanctions put in place that pertain to their operations. They are not responsible for trying to determine on their own whether transactions should be allowed for reasons beyond that. |
bdda... | They steal too Much money |
robs... | VISA and Mastercard should be rendered the most severe fines possible for OFAC violations! These two companies MUST figure this out before we have hundreds of Iranian drones penetrating U.S. airspace within the next 2 to 3 years. |
wint... | All of the credit card companies need to do a better job of monitoring their fraudulent usage and following up when it’s reported with enforcement agencies. Individual countries should be doing a better job of aiding investigations and shutting down foreign actors. |
isel... | Fraud is fraud! This must be contained by the credit card companies |
lakl... | They keep rejecting it on vendors when a cards is disputes but they should pay for it and work on more security |
In your opinion, should the government intervene in credit card fee structures?
- 60% Yes, regulation is necessary for fairness
- 40% No, the market should dictate fees
Comments | |
---|---|
elie... | The market is always smarter. Legislation should only forsee that there is fair competition. |
waco... | Only people who can afford to travel a lot receive the rewards. Airlines must be reaping rewards to offer reward programs. |
kfer... | However, I do think they should intervene on rates charged by credit card companies. They seem to be in collusion. |
nanc... | It’s a tough one. I think I’d have to find out more about the earnings and consequences. |
bbc1... | If the credit card companies want reward programs they should pay for it not the merchants. |
paul... | Government is not the best arbitrator of fairness. |
jeff... | Credit card fees are ridiculously high. |
dana... | They are price gouging with every swipe |
pldm... | The average day consumer can't fight the banks (including Visa and Mastercard). The fees are exhorbant and need to be regulated. They also need to be not exploit people weakness by extending so much credit that puts people in uncontrollable debt. |
msyk... | It’s strange to me how many people think price controls are bad and yet think these price controls are good. |
drh2... | You need to investigate Dick Durbin, he has been in the pocket of big retail for decades. The Durbin amendment, which took away interchange on debit cards killed free checking accounts for millions of Americans. Causing banks to charge monthly fees on banks accounts that had otherwise had the cost carried by interchange. Retailers enjoy ease of payment, collection, no cash in stores due to plastic, yet they want it for free. The consumer will suffer again. Dick Durbin is a dick. |
loua... | The Credit Card Fees are very high for small businesses and eventually even the folks using cash and opting out of these programs are paying. If a consumer wants to have access to these perks, an annual fee to access the 'perks' (e.g. rewards for airlines or other things). Costco gives consumers a choice for extra savings, but does not force it in their membership fee structure. Similarly, different and more rewards could be attained by consumers willing/able to pay more for access to such features. The wealthy are able to access/decide which options are the best for themselves, and the average person/family of 5 or more should be able to access-use a cashless society without fees for doing so. |
john... | Why should the general public pay for airline rewards programs benefiting a small segment of fliers! |
blik... | Government meddling in US free markets is always a negative result. Only Marxists (Fascists & Communists) want to micromanage other peoples business, money, property, and Life!!!! Durbin is not to be trusted! |
How significant do you think the construction industry is for the overall U.S. economy?
- 84% Very significant, it drives economic growth
- 11% Not very significant, it's just one sector
- 5% Unsure
Comments | |
---|---|
pldm... | If I am correct, the last recession went hand in hand with construction declining. |
sara... | And employees millions of laborers |
kfer... | It is knock on to so many other jobs in the supply chain. |
geof... | It’s more important than retail sales. It’s a core industry that reflects overall economic health. |
isel... | Many contributors to the US economy of which construction is only one. |
btaw... | Construction may not be a driver, but it is a key indicator on economic activity and economic growth |
atli... | We need more working class immigrants otherwise construction costs will sky rocket which will further reduce new construction. |
brod... | This is too broad a question. “Construction” needs to be broken down into the categories of infrastructural, institutional, commercial, residential, etc.. |
nanc... | Between the tariffs involving Canadian lumber and the anti-immigrant policy of this administration, I’m surprised the construction industry has held up as well as it has. |
How concerned are you about the long-term health effects of hormonal contraceptive use?
- 65% Very concerned
- 20% Not very concerned
- 15% Unsure
Comments | |
---|---|
atli... | Men should undergo more vasectomies. |
jacq... | Contraception has always had these risks and now they are even worse. Medical field does little in research to help women. They also don’t tell you the risks of sterilization with use of contraceptives. |
kfer... | Birth control should not be a threat to woman’s life. |
mars... | This is not new news. The risk of heart attack or stroke on these methods is very small- about 1 in 15,000 users. Risks increase with predisposing conditions- high blood pressure, obesity, smoking, etc. Highest risk of clot formation for a woman is when she is PREGNANT! Combination oral contraceptives and the vaginal ring are extremely safe for appropriate users |
lipe... | My best friend 36 years old just had one and the doctors said it was likely due to birth control. Terrifying. |
cynt... | Women continue to be affected by and deprived of good information about about the risks of synthetic hormone uses. Women's health continues to be minimized, ignored, and underresearched. Their physicians still treat them like men with vaginas, because that is what most medical research does. |
nurs... | Safe contraception is critical as abortion availability dwindles |
more... | I am a bloke, not a woman. I can be concerned but those who take these risks should be the ones to decide |
isel... | This study can’t be ignored. The risk needs to be addressed and considered by all women |
tomg... | Seems ironic that this study comes out after Trump is elected with his Christianity following. |
Do you currently have any dietary restrictions?
- 46% Yes, I avoid added sugars
- 40% No, I have no dietary restrictions
- 14% Yes, I follow other dietary restrictions (e.g., gluten-free, vegetarian)
Comments | |
---|---|
jenn... | No gluten |
wint... | “Sugar” comes in many forms. People are ignorant of the ways that manufactures are sneaking sugar into our foods. The best solution is to eat real food and cook for yourself! |
nanc... | I try to limit my sugar intake and maintain a healthy diet. It also helps me maintain a healthy weight. |
atli... | I am vegetarian for health, environmental, and ethical reasons. And I eat very well. |
ebr.... | I have no prescribed dietary limitations but I have cut many processed foods and most soda from my diet. |
ejgi... | Keto |
zack... | I follow the food pyramid set by USDA. Strange how wrong our health “experts” have been wrong over the past 50+ years. If you’re still eating the garbage they sell I got news for you. The pills they are selling aren’t going to fix you either! |
fnib... | I DO try to watch what I eat. I almost NEVER drink sodas. (Occasionally will have a Zero Sugar soda). I eat whole fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. |
cica... | But I avoid soft drinks, energy drinks, fart food, junk food, and processed foods. My diet is not perfect but I think it’s relatively healthy |
