slw6...This is a stupid query. The average reader has no basis for evaluating a court decision like this.
yank...Trump also has damaged our relationships with allies and foes alike. The tariffs damage other economies as well and makes more enemies than friends.
mend...We are in very uncertain times
bhad...Only the president and a few other benefited from the tariffs. How much money did What's his face make?
kidk...These tariffs are putting small businesses at risk
wche...Our courts must protect the constitution and not allow any president to upset the balance of power
desi...Trump is a narcissist that wants to turn this country into a dictatorship. So sad
to55...Trump is a misguided liar !
conn...it hurts US consumers and bussiness, it disrupts world trade and peace, it hurts world markets, etc, etc.
knig...I am a small business owner. People are not looking at the end goal. The president is trying to restructure our country by using tariffs as a bargaining chip. He is treating the USA situation, like taking over a failing company and having to weed out the bad and cut off the bleeding. so that the company will then be profitable. It is high time that the United States. Put a stop to be in taking advantage of.
suzh...His “emergency” orders are all illegal. It’s all manipulation to dismantle our government and become dictator. He bombards us every day and it becomes overwhelming. He’s the puppet of fascism. He’s not the brains. He’s a malignant narcissist malignant sociopath fixed delusion syndrome personality disorder. Like Hitler. He’s dangerous to all mankind. It’s another holacsust.
rgar...The president has the authority to impose tarrifs. This is another example of a court that is ecceeding its authority over the president. It will be overturmed. We elect presdents not judges.
jarm...Tariffs maybe needed but they can’t/shouldn’t be decided by a single entity. That undermines the purpose of our type of governance.
jose...If Trump believed that the deficit was an emergency, why give tax cuts to his rich friends?
rmol...This is a democracy - not a dictatorship. If tariffs are to be, let Congress enact such. Letting one person throw the entire economy into a free fall is not what the founding fathers envisioned.
rtet...Presidential authority does not trump legal or moral authority.
jriv...Idiots
drus...It is an equal branch of the government to the executive branch
dbmj...Trump has no place in public office. He's going to isolate the USA from it's allies, and he's a danger to national security. People follow him because he's like the old snake-oil salesman. His intentions might be honorable, but his methods are not. He's embarrassing!
isel...Trump continues to exceed his authority and he ignores Constitutional law. Congress alone has this power.
neil...He can't stop the demise of the USA.
mdul...I believe it is justified but not for the reason stated in your list of responses ("Yes, it protects consumers and businesses"). The court did not opine on whether it was good or bad policy, nor did it consider whether tariffs are an effective tool. It ruled solely on the legality of POTUS believing he can unilaterally impose these tariffs and that, from the start of this POTUS term, has clearly been illegal and just one more power grab by Trump. 72% of companies are already reporting their costs have increased as a result of tariffs so that might further suggest that the almost 100% of economists are correct in saying tariffs are wrong-headed, but that doesn't and didn't enter into the court's ruling.
rhon...Tariffs should be determined by congress in conjunction with the CBO and nonpartisan economists.
vman...We need a level playing field.
mary...The President overstepped his authority in this, as he is doing in so many areas of government.
hols...trump is a bully and a criminal
valk...Why is money wasted on things which is important to our economic growth
ange...Fuck tronald dump
jrv1...A Tarri DVD is not your friend
pjma...I do feel that this is undermining the president’s actions and looks very bad in the world’s eyes.
abel...He needs to be stopped
kaki...The Constitution is clear. This is not an executive power. There is no invading arm; there is no war. This applies to his use of ICE as brown shirts and the illegal extradition of people without due process as well as detaining US citizens and the masking of ICE officers. All are anti-Constitutional measures that exceed executive powers.
kare...Trump needs to be stopped, he is killing us as a nation
nosk... the more I read I realize how we the voter are so complacent. We take the word of our elected officials and this country has suffered.
pete...No one person should have that power.
albe...I don't understand why people don't see the abuse other countries are doing to the US. Who is paying or pressuring the judges to side with other countries
mand...Give us back our USA I think the courts should have no say in this they are over stepping the president . They need to be disbarred
bren...As a small manufacturer this was killing our business as we had no time to react and was going to cost us millions that we could not recouped.
rhon...Another example of his empty promises of the tariffs bringing jobs back. He is delusional among other things. And people don’t understand the constitution and how checks and balances are in place for just such a want to be king.
barn...Surely Congress should be involved
nuth...The FPOTUS is a madman crule and evil and wants to destroy America relationship with the world. We do not use tariffs to try to power over other countries. Tariffs are Felon Trump taxes against Americans.
dana...Tariffs work and were leveling the playing field between the USA and the world. Uncertainty creates opportunity. Time for other countries to pay their share. I’m sick of activist judges entering politics. Let the tariffs work.
bill...Why are courts ruling on fiscal policy?
fnib...The President's job is to protect the American people. Tarriffs are a negotiating tool which have proven to be a way to eventually lower the tarriffs other countries charge the USA. Trump is right to use his power of negotiation to help eliminate the National Debt. If not, our country won't survive.
lewi...The Pres. has no long term strategic plan, he just threatens and waits for nations to react. Should have solidified N. America w/ Canada and Mx and than solidified Europe as trade partners. THEN go after China
sara...Absolutely justified - if nothing else, tariffs are under the authority of Congress, not the Executive Branch. And trade deficits are not an emergency - first of all deficits do not equal tariffs - many of the countries he has placed tariffs on have a general tariff rate of 0% or 1% on US goods - and the trade deficit in many other instances comes from our companies buying parts made in other countries to produce finished goods they sell at a profit. The ridiculous lack of understanding of basic economics that drives these destructive tantrums about trade deficits will crash our economy with no benefit - they must be stopped.
andr...Hes an idiot
tmsa...Trump is a dipshit
mari...President should not be able to make up bogus "national emergencies " on a whim. Particularly an incompetent and demented president
leet...A single individual should not be allowed to implement such globally impactful actions entirely on their own. Especially without presenting any evidence that the logic behind the actions has support from a cross-functional review board of leading Economists and subject matter experts.
brow...USA should not support a dictatorship
lane...Whether this ruling protects consumers and businesses is not the point. The ruling upholds the system of checks and balances the constitution set forth. No elected official is omnipotent.
cmar...The court was very specific in their decision and doesn't undermine presidential authority at all for what the statutes and constitution specifies. One person should not have the ability to change tariffs (taxes) arbitrarily on a whim!
doct...If we do not fix the trade imbalance, our nation's economy wil eventually implode. People are fools if they fail to recognize this is a national emergency. We are on the brink, and the slefish little blind lemmings are walking off an economic cliff. WE MUST FIX THE TARIFF / TRADE IMBALANCE!
krip...It affects not only our economy but the world economy as well and the middle class will be hit hard.
blue...The Supreme Court may support Trump and reverse the lower court. It has ceded its role and no longer enforces the law.
pjsm...Trump is only sowing chaos to make people look the other way while his many grifts are ongoing.
rick...It is not about who it protects or undermines. Trump is exercising powers his office does not possess under the constitution. The legislative branch can delegate some power to the president, but those powers must be limited by specific conditions and boundaries which constrain how the president may use such powers.
stev...We need to bring the manufacturing back to the U S. Our politicians poor leadership and self serving actions got us into this mess and need to support the efforts to repair it. The politicians who have lined their own pockets should be prosecuted and charged with treason.
dilo...I do not know enough details to make a judgement call!!
brad...Let Trump try and fix the poor state that America is in financially. Americans have just become sorry people with there hand out!!
smat...Leave the president alone!!! Let him do his job!!!
marg...I pressed the wrong one oh no! I did not believe that he has the presidential authority to do what he’s been doing.
rkpa...It’s about bringing manufacturing back to USA and people are looking at short term impact and not long term stability. The trade deficit is not balanced and US is on losing side of it
edle...He's such a child having a temper tantrum.
lora...The courts should allow the President to govern as the people elected him. This is democracy when courts can stop the elected President from governing. If his policies are wrong, he will be voted out in the next election.
jald...It’s truly sad to see how much misinformation is there is on tariffs. Is blue collar workers want these manufacturing jobs. The white collar guys have no clue because they don’t produce a damn thing. Can’t wait for there jobs to be replaced by AI.
rene...The executive branch does not have that kind of power. Concocting an emergency to steal power was wrong. The legislative branch should work on taxes and budget.
derr...It was a bold approach to get trade tariffs negotiated more fairly and our own country isn't smart enough to give him a few months to work it out... fairer trade deals are already be reach... dummies!!
donn...Someone has to stop the "horror" Trump is doing.
geof...There needs to be effective checks and balances in the operation of the US government. It’s not ok for any president to exercise complete power with disregard to the checks and balances that are in place.
jebb...Separation of powers and equal power between the three branches of government in fundamental to the Constitution and our democracy. Congress is Constitutionally mandated to control tariffs.
deri...Wake up people, how are this many people so stupid!
twin...Trumps tariffs hurt the small businessmen and women! Their vendors would have to Close their doors as well as the businesses!
kvho...I believe it was justified not because it protects consumers or businesses but because it was based on preserving the balance of power. Presidents are not kings and do not wield unlimited authority
call...For Trump - who has been bankrupt MANY times - to pretend that he alone knows what is "Best" for American business is a crime. Its good that the Judicial Branch still has some teeth, and will begin to pull all trading partners out of the ridiculous Mafioso intimidation circus Dear Leader created.
pegg...The president is not a king. He should not have this unchecked power
cica...Yes, we needed the courts to step in and stop the insanity. Let’s imagine what the economy would look like today. If Trump had done nothing except sit on his hands once he got into office. Inflation would probably be at the Fed target rate of 2%. We’d have at least one rate cut. And the economy would have continued to boom the way it was throughout most of 2024. All of us who got hurt during the pandemic and the resulting inflation would have begun to recover. Now we’re stuck in crazy town with a demented president and a corrupt and incompetent administration.
jmbe...Until next year's midterm elections, the courts (and the press) remain our only hope of preserving some semblance of Constitutional integrity in the US. Trump is systematically destroying the basic framework of checks and balances.
cfio...go back 100 years to the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act that Pres Hoover signed. A disaster. For the economy, for businesses, for GDP, for consumers. It actually delayed recovery from the Great Depression. Exact same intention, terrible results. But of course, History doesn't matter anymore. Just use logic.
ttim...I think these are BananaRepublic like courts and are truly politically driven.
zack...Just another clear over step of judicial power. One of the many during this admin so far.
jslo...Chaos is not good for our country!
19pi...Yes, Trump is not operating according the to law. He is acting like a dictator.
djin...Judges should not over rule the president's ability to do what voters expect.
hmul...Tariffs are being used as leverage for leveling the playfield. Some American businesses will be affected negatively until they can adjust, but the end result is that American businesses, in general, will not be at a disadvantage in the global marketplace.
aj98...The power should reside with the congress.
kear...There is such a negative trade imbalance. Why not"bite the bullet " now and have all the countries that trade with the US have a more balanced trade? The US can't go on much longer paying outrageous tariffs to other countries.
luca...Congress already is supposed to have that power. I believe in the three branches in government. This admin wants to cut out the legislative. We can’t let one branch control everything.
nanc...It would never have come to this if Congress had recognized their role and intervened when trump initially announced his crazy tariff scheme. But that would have meant those sniveling cowards would have had to show they had a spine, which they don’t!

Do you think that NVIDIA's 70% Year over Year growth is sustainable?

  • 59% No
  • 24% Yes
  • 17% Not sure

EmailComments
rick...Short term, yes. Long term, of course not.
geof...Competition will eat into market share.
sara...Wow, in the face of such market domination by foreign competitors (especially those who could come under Chinese control if Taiwan is taken over) it sure would be a good idea to beef up the US chip industry - perhaps with policies directed at supporting chip makers to expand and modernize operations, placing restrictions on IP, and requiring foreign chip makers to establish chip fabs in the US... Oh sorry - that was the CHIPS act - one of the most important policies enacted since the start of the tech industry - which is no doubt going to be hollowed out or destroyed by the self-destructive "own the libs" Trump morons.
ttim...They own the market and are advancing in technology way ahead of their competition.
zaac...but 30% is possible.
elin...Parameters in the question are missing. For how long?
robs...This article mentions nothing about NVIDIA’s year over year growth.
call...There are too many moving parts between trade barriers, technology restrictions, tariffs and taxes that are muddying the waters.
jmbe...We can only HOPE that NVIDIA's growth rate is not sustainable.
arth...If not 70%, it will continue inordinate growth because AI is just hitting second gear in the the worldwide race.
kare...Leader in AI and believe in Huangs leadership

Do you believe that the U.S. is handling its relationship with China effectively?

  • 59% No, this could escalate tensions further
  • 34% Yes, firm stance is needed
  • 7% Unsure/No opinion

EmailComments
conn...Dont fight with a thousand years old culture if you are just the new kid in the block.
kidk...We were doing just fine before Trump started
lora...Biden and the democrats sold out to China. Trump is now trying to fix this issue which is very difficult. Americans need to wake up and not vote Democrat for several election cycles so we can get our country back.
call...President Trump is too confrontational and needs to be more diplomatic
rtet...The Chinese are winning the space and technology races. See recent headlines about their more efficient yet less expensive AI. And the Chinese just shot a laser to the moon. Their achievements are not because of DEI in the US. White men control most conglomerates as the GOP and Trump are constantly reminding us. Instead, it is the result of American businesses not investing sufficiently in technical innovation and education. The Chinese and the rest of the world are laughing at us.
jald...It’s time that we take a stand to China and their unfair business practices and spying that has destroyed US intellectual property. As a working class man it is something I have waited for a long time to happen. Time to take a stand.
leet...There is probably an argument to be made that exposing Chinese students to the American way of life, and letting them form friendships with American students would positively influence global relationships. Would you want to start a war with the people you went to school with?
robs...The U.S. has given $12.5 TRILLION worth of business to China and it has educated 3.7 MILLION Chinese students graduating from U.S. Colleges & Universities over the past 30 years. In return, China has created protective trade barriers preventing U.S. exports to China; required 51% Chinese government ownership of its required Chinese / U.S. joint ventures in order for U.S. companies to do business in China; unfairly provided government subsidies to Chinese companies competing against free market U.S. companies with no U.S. government support; stolen extraordinary amounts of U.S. intellectual property; continuously spied on the U.S. government and its citizens; covertly attempt to manipulate and alter the minds of U.S. citizens through social media like 75% of those who read this newsletter, and it allowed and denied that the COVID-19 virus and virtually every other flu virus over the past 60 years came from China. Yes, a firm stance is needed!
call...Open doors let in truth and prosperity. Closed doors inhibit those benefits and more. We all suffer when we don't communicate and draw needless lines in the sand. Trump = Anger + Retaliation... in hopes of reconciliation. Neither are effect tools long term.
chiu...They have been stealing our technologies for decades! Get their own education and jobs in China!
davi...Maybe, just maybe, your headline influences poll responses? If the US doesn't get the trade deficit under control and take action to prevent the ChiComs from stealing our intellectual property, among other things, our children and grandchildren will be living in an unpleasant world.
cmar...Actually I wanted to answer "No" to the question, but I agree that we need to be careful what we import and export from China as far as things that could be a national security concern.
lane...We live in a global economy.
albe...The Chinese have been stealing and intimidating other countries for years. They have made their goals clear to unsent the US as largest economies. They are a threat to the US
cica...This administration isn’t handling anything in America’s interest effectively. It’s helping to line Trump’s pockets as well as those of the cronies who elected him at his serve in his administration. But it’s not doing anything for the American public or our national interest or security.
lewi...Yes, trade w/ China is out of balance but you don't back business partners into a corner. Could've been handled better and provided limited tariffs that escalate up or reduce with better trade deals. US companies can't plan, forecast with volatility
jmbe...B
mari...Pointless escalation that actually strengthens China, bringing China and Russia closer togethet
kjvi...US is not handling, Trump administration is handling and how can we know because there's no feedback or no meetings. So, I'm not sure how to tell if we're handling it effectively - i'm not sure we're handling it at all. My guess is it's because Trump has no future business interests in China - Trump's more of a Russia and Middle East person.

Should U.S. companies like Chevron be allowed to operate in countries with controversial

  • 39% No, they should pull out completely
  • 36% Yes, with proper oversight
  • 25% It depends on the situation

EmailComments
arth...Pulling out totally could open the opportunity for Maduro to turn operations over to another country, such as China, to come in. This could cause accusations of Monroe Doctrine violations.
nosk...Life unfortunately is not always black and white

Do you believe that early detection of Alzheimer’s will lead to better treatment outcomes?

  • 88% Yes, early intervention is key
  • 12% No, it won’t make a significant difference

EmailComments
pjsm...Progress is finally being made.
cwhi...Right now, maybe just so an identified person can make life plans for coping. Hopefully better treatment options would emerge in time
robs...A cure will not require early detection, but researching the most common diseases for over a century really makes one question the validity of most research with limited oversight, accountability or incentive to risk losing research grants / employment.
isel...ANY advantage in managing Alzheimer’s disease outcome is critical to developing methods of treatment
chiu...No. It is not known how to slow progression. Just will add thousands of people that will worry about its progression and there is nothing they can do.
chri...Everything I read says that early detection allows for potential interventions like diet, sleep, stopping alcohol use, exercise, etc to postpone the effects.
lfan...Our idiot leaders have cut financial resources to research diseases, so what difference will detection make when avenues to develop a cure have been blocked?
gina...How will it help if there’s no cure? My mother and grandmother had it, I just assume I will too. There’s no system in the USA for caring for Alzheimer’s patients. It’s difficult to get into a care facility. My daughter works full time and she will have that burden. The focus should be and cure and care, early detection should come later.
miah...We have earlier detection across many cancers in last few decades, more spent on research and treatment, yet no effect on mortality or morbidity.
elin...The answer is “may lead to successful treatment depending upon advances in treatment.”
indy...They could have done it by now if it was going to make a difference...
arth...Combining earlier detection with evolving new medicines could show marked improvement in treating Alzheimer’s disease.
ttes...I pray that it does. Dementia plays a strong role in our family and we have seen the devastating effects it brings, not only to the sufferer, but the entire family!
shal...It will lead to more serious changes in lifestyle.
lewi...DUH - SO why did Trump cut funding out of these major universities that do ground breaking work ?? He's a fool and you can't just push buttons to bring back on AND the Universities are at fault to only want to build up their endowments instead of matching funds with govt and private donation. You would rather make a point and let people die. Get your priorities straight
mari...Early intervention might lead to the cure

How serious do you think the link is between gum disease and heart conditions like AFib?

  • 93% Very serious, it should be a public health priority.
  • 7% Not serious, it's being overstated.

EmailComments
nanc...AFib is such a difficult condition to deal with. Several people I know suffer from it and have had to undergo multiple treatments with limited success.
alli...the fact that dental/gum health is not covered by medicare is a problem as this could reduce the costs of medical treatment in the long run.
lfan...This is not a new finding. Unfortunately insurance companies will not pay for a significant amount of periodontal care so only people with a lot of money can afford to have treatment done every 2-3 months.
