Does Hamas’s demand for full withdrawal before negotiations seem reasonable?

  • 75% No
  • 25% Yes

EmailComments
jamf...Terror groups DO NOT get to call the shots!
jlcg...But they have their back to a thick, strong wall and will not abandon their outrageous demands.as they do not give a darn Ed about the suffering of their civilian compatriots. until they are wiped out or find refuge in qn other country, both solutions at best very long tem prospects.
denn...Hamas has lost its role as the leader of the Palestine people.
andr...I'm not sure, but I do know Israel is out of control and we, as USA taxpayers, need to get out of this constant war zone halfway around the world.
pard...Hamas needs to return all of the innocent hostages dead and alive which they kidnapped before withdrawal should be made.
cica...Quit while you’re still way behind. Stop pretending to care about the people of Gaza. Stop hiding behind them and their children.
cb10...Enough of this already.
gret...Hamas is a terrorist organization bent on destroying Israel. It has no interest in negotiating a ceasefire, resolving this conflict or protecting Palestinians. Israel should not withdraw until the remaining hostages are safely returned.
kelt...hamas are terrorists and rapists and murderers, they should have no bargaining power
sfst...Hamas can’t be trusted. Israel must protect itself.
tubi...there is a deeper history that oct 7th. it seems many have amnesia to anything prior.
duxb...After prisoners are all returned they can than discuss withrawal
rgar...Hamas's time is limited and they know it.
atli...War is never the answer to any disagreement. Particularly those as easily resolved as apartheid. A first step is removal of invading forces from the homeland of the indigenous population followed then by communication.
elgo...Oops read that wrong-that’s a NO, not yes! NO
trag...I can see why Hamas would want full withdrawal as a condition for negotiations but I don’t think they can be fully trusted. I’m not seeing what concessions Hamas would make. Withdrawal would make Israel more vulnerable so it is not an effective strategy for them. A ceasefire would be a more reasonable strategy.
wake...Hamas has forfeited all rights to remain in power. Kill them all, God will know his friends.
jeze...Please rescue the people of Gaza from this terrible war. When will the world see the people that are suffering.
kchr...Since Hamas initiated this war they cannot expect to receive everything back.
land...Hamas needs to release hostages
boeh...No
jane...Hamas is a terrorist organization.
serg...Hamas started this war
kova...Hamas no longer deserves any say concerning this matter. Israel should take control of any part of Gaza necessary for its own protection. Palestinians should welcome the control by Israel vs Hamas
dena...These idiots just have to free all the hostages.
joll...Support for the IDF is support for a terrorist organization! Jesus Christ. Seriously there is not a hospital left in Gaza.
paul...They are terrorists that have shown they have no moral compass.
zack...Wish a “journalists” would lay this out for everyone to understand. The only chance Palestine has a getting any kind of peace agreement is for Hamas to leave government. Now name a government in history that simply walked away from their own failure? Hamas only card is these hostage's. Once that card is played then Israel will finish the job. More death! More uninformed people having an opinion on something they don’t even understand too
jllm...How dumb do they think they are?
drhm...No country can allow terror groups to dictate, especially after deplorable attacks and hostage taking.
avaa...Trump said he was going to stop this war
nanc...By starving these people who have gone through so much, the chances of carving out a peace agreement seem more unlikely than ever.
john...It’s time for Israel to demand the return of the hostages, unharmed or they can continue with force as necessary to claim further control of Gaza territory. They need to be sure and eliminate any Hamas presence in this territory as they claim back the land. Enough game playing.
mich...Hamas never negotiates in good faith.
dwrd...They are not to be trusted - they were in a ceasefire when the Nova Festival happened - they need to release the hostages before any negotiations
barr...Too many innocent people will die. The Israeli government has the military power and delay will kill thousands.
juli...Hamas doesn't run the table, they are terrorists. Enough carrots, go get the hostages and end Hamas political and military power.
jdmm...A
ronh...It's ridiculous, they cannot be trusted, they started this and need to free the hostages.
cwil...Given that Israel doesn't seem to respect any borders, it seems as reasonable as any other position.
mart...The number of innocent Palestinians that have been murdered by the Israeli military forces grossly outnumbers the Israelis that have been harmed. The response by the Israeli military is inhumanely disproportionate. The requests being made are reasonable given that context.

Do you believe tariffs on chips will slow down innovation in AI and computing?

  • 62% Yes
  • 38% No

EmailComments
sher...I think the tariffs will slow down access to the innovations for the United States. Other countries will advance faster.
atli...Collaboration rather than competition is the way to progress for all countries willing to participate. If adopted, the nonparticipants will be left behind. And it seems that China is far more interested in progress than is the insular US.
kchr...Almost all of the supply chain and pieces needed in tech are all over the world. Tariffs are a very bad idea.
chri...They will slow innovation in the US. Worse yet, the export restrictions are prompting China to innovate very rapidly. They will advance while we stagnate.
ende...Until US chips are the primary source for Silicon Valley I see an issue
serg...Tarrifa are just taxes, not prohibitions to use.
cb10...This is just hurting America even more.
cica...Tariffs will grind the entire world economy down to a crawl. Of course billionaires don’t care about that. They thrive in those environments. Look at the financial crisis of 2008, when billionaires took advantage of a crisis and bought up 500,000 single family properties and are sitting on them to this day. They are also colluding amongst themselves to keep rents artificially high.
tomg...Keeping China from innovating because we are falling behind in so many areas, is not the answer.
gmit...Unless we can ramp up domestic production
jllm...Think? We know.
ebr....Smart people find ways around the obstacles in place.
suza...duh of course it will
land...Progress will continue outside of USA
nick...Supply chains would adjust but innovation will go forward, maybe at a little slower pace.
tubi...dumb donald is a bumbling idiot, having little to no knowledge of technology, aside of how to send gibberish in bursts of 180 characters or less. he and his administration should be the last to lay any guidelines for tech.

Is the comparison to the 1930 Smoot-Hawley tariffs useful in today’s context?

  • 64% Yes
  • 31% No
  • 6% Other

EmailComments
edc....No it creates more fear
kmey...The Smoot Hawley tariff is a good lesson in how tariffs work and the actual consequences which in 1930 helped cause all kinds of political instability… like now.
jrv1...I don’t approve of the tariffs. It’s a different economic time and the reality is many countries have taken advantage of US in trade.
ebr....History repeats itself
trag...We can all benefit from learning about History and heeding the lessons it can provide
tubi...dont care how they spin it. tariffs are needed to level to production playing field. the US has long been taken advantage of, by and for the few.
atli...Preparing for the worst while hoping for something better is the most prudent position to take.
geof...Trade wars have NEVER worked well.
jose...Tariffs can be good if targeted to protect certain industries but blanket targets will ruin our economy.
gmit...History teaches us important lessons if we're willing to learn tgem
tomg...Retaliatory tariffs is one factor, the other more critical factor is countries moving away from US currency on trade.
mend...Times are different now, but they do echo similarities
zack...The 60% that said Yes have at most an elementary understanding of Smoot-Hawley. Bet most of the votes never even heard of it
ende...Just the inability to have an educated plan is a big part of the problem. History shows flying by the seat of your pants is not the way to go. Chaos may be Trumps friend but it is going to screw the rest of us. The Senate needs to get on top of this situation
9812...in 1930 was after Oct 29 1929
jllm...The market is car engine always running, when something isn’t right has to be corrected, tough when some asshole throws a wrench in it and says don’t worry I can fix it. Where’s Angie’s list?
patr...History repeats itself - we should learn a lesson from it.
serg...The Economics and nations of 100 yrs ago were very diferent.
elgo...History is to learn from, not necessarily to repeat.
nick...100 years ago the agility in global markets was not there.
puck...We need to learn from our past mistakes or wins.
cica...Stupid is as stupid does. You can’t fix stupid. And stupid doesn’t rhyme. It just keeps repeating itself
chri...Smoot-Hawley was awful then, and these tariffs are awful now.
spro...Didn’t go into effect until after the stock market crash
rgar...Different times, different situations, different outcomes
jlcg...Even if it should be taken with a grain of salt because context,jn many respects., is far different today, as noted by Chairman Powell
mary...No, only because I have no idea what todays context is and neither does anyone else

Do you believe life exists in other planets?

  • 89% Yes
  • 11% No

EmailComments
cica...I have no idea. But until we know for sure we should focus on life on this planet before it is too late
atli...Humans are not the center of the universe. Not even the reason for the existence of earth. But "life" is not what our small minds are capable of imagining. And certainly not what Hollywood wants us to think.
ebr....Sure, it does. We are the laughing stock of the galaxy.
shoe...It’s statistically likely given the number of planets in the universe.
ugad...Why not? Why would we be the only planet God chose to give life to.
jllm...I believe, we after billions of years spearhead life, and if we’re not more careful our existence will be replaced by some other earth species
amyb...We can not possibly be the only life forms in the universe.
jlcg...Most likely ubder fairly different forms, and certainly very far away.
tomg...Infinite planets and we're the only ones with a life form, that seems totally unrealistic to me.
trag...It certainly is a strong possibility worth further exploration. ( we could use a new world right now!)
tubi...yes, though whether it is communicable life is entirely another question.

Would you personally want to know your risk of developing dementia a decade in advance?

  • 83% Yes
  • 17% No

EmailComments
jllm...Hopefully I have time to do something about it.
stev...Gives you the ability to do something to mitigate the onset.
ange...interesting that most would want to know. im in agreement.
tric...There are various natural brain supplements, brain stimulating exercises (like brain gym, daily walking, etc), and activities and games that literally make new brain cells (crossword puzzles, Scrabble, Bananagrams, and others). If I knew dementia could be on the horizon for me, I definitely would be motivated to do everything possible to slow or prevent it.
atli...Knowledge is always better than ignorance. Except when it comes to winning political elections.
debs...But would want to know within 2 years to plan care and get ahead of issues before devastating my family
boeh...No
jonh...Knowing advance would allow time to prepare for advanced medical care and to set up financial instruments such as trusts to lay out money management desires prior to the onset of the disease.
hull...So self and family could plan for future
kold...I'm 68, my father has dementia, and I've started losing my memory. My doctor said, "let's have you take a test in a year." American medical care is very poor at getting ahead of medical problems.
sara...if there were ways to slow down or mitigate the effects.
9812...I say no now. When there are effective drugs to fight these diseases, I would change that to yes.
jflo...Planning
trag...It would be a sword of Damocles hanging over my head. If I could do something to stop or delay its progression I would want to know. Otherwise it’s a shadow I prefer not to see.
marj...My 95 year old mother suffers from dementia. She is physically heathy. It's helpful to know if I am a candidate.
amfr...I could prepare for the rest of my life esp with regard to finances
jlcg...What would be the point as long as no cure, or at least development treatment , have been discovered.
elgo...Better to be prepared for what the future brings, as much as possible.
mike...Early diagnosis leads to early treatment
geof...Would be helpful for rest-of-life planning.
spas...Only if there is a treatment or a cure
kelt...It would help to know and prepare for the worst
wide...Important to know if and when you might have to prepare for this debilitating disease.
swan...I would like to know because that would allow me to focus on preventive therapy now.
clai... I would want to financially plan for the care I might need in advance.
rtke...My father had and my sister has dementia so of course I’d like to know if I will develop the disease.
chri...Financial planning, estate planning, and how I spend the next decade would all be affected if I had 83% certainty of dementia within a decade.
