How do you feel about Trumps negotiation with China?
- 43% Positive
- 32% Negative
- 25% Neutral

| ceal... | We need time to rebuild our rare earths refining. It is really unfortunate that we let that go for so long. |
| lhay... | It's hard to know who's the bad guy. Europe grossly took over whole countries, then the US. Europe and US has (and continues to) destroy entire populations and their environment. Is China bad for this? I don't know. We all need to get together to stop corporate greed first. |
| amyb... | Lowering fentanyl tariffs just made his attacks on Venezuelan “drug traffickers” ridiculous. Negotiations are good, but think more carefully about what your negotiation away—like the lives of many Americans. |
| bphi... | Trump causes the problems that he then halfway “fixes.” It’s bizarre. |
| jlcg... | Retreating now is probably better than digging in its heels for the medium term performance of the US economy, but quite a lot of damage has already been done, and very little obtained. Bottom line: Trump has been totally out-maneuvered in this ill-conceived, and ill managed trade war. One dumb and unproductive counter attack after years of doing nothing.....the Chinese will keep eating our lunch with gusto! |
| mitt... | Trump created a crisis so he could get back to the status quo, and then claim he had actually accomplished something. Total b.s. |
| team... | Since he has been in office, everything has gone up up up!!!! Groceries, healthcare, interest, etc. He's not doing anything for the middle and lower class |
| lotu... | It takes time to clean up the past mess he was left. What did Biden do for us????? |
| ocds... | TACO again. |
| sagi... | Hard to see if deal will be long-lasting |
| marc... | So, he wants to add tariffs to basic goods but reduce tariffs on the precursors to fentanyl. I hope all of his supporters who are struggling with fentanyl addiction know this. He does not have their interests in mind whatsoever. |
| mich... | Solving a crisis of his own making. |
| dubn... | Trump created this mess, and then claims VICTORY to clean up his own mess. Sorry. When you take your dog up to poop, you are required to clean up the mess. You don't claim VICTORY when you pick up your dog's poop. |
| tjcn... | Trump continues to bully his way thru trade issues with higher tariffs rather than negotiating win-win agreements that will benefit all countries in the long run. Trade partners may have to give him concessions in the short term because of a stronger US competitive advantage now; but behind the scenes the leaders of other countries are forging new economic partnerships. |
| caro... | China is winning this unnecessary trade war. |
| chri... | When evidence emerges about exactly what he communicated or failed to communicate, then we may know more. |
| crai... | He lost. China gave up nothing and has established channels to buy soy from Argentina (and others). |
| kelt... | a million times better than the demented guy before him |
| erik... | Many of Trumps negotiations change after he leaves tge table. lets wait and see what really happens. |
| smme... | He got us back roughly to status quo but was the one who broke it in the first place. |
| howa... | Short term. Manipulative. Tariffs weapons commerce. The poor people hurt the most. Trump is a grandstander not a diplomat nor a superior businessman. |
| dpwo... | Better talking than not, but the proof will be in the agreements or even if they occur |
| ljar... | Don't trust anything he says because he so often lies. |
| rich... | Probably will change next week. Crazy to mention Nukes before meeting |
| brod... | We are evidently supposed to applaud Trump for solving problems that were created by Trump. |
| bbci... | Lowering tariffs on Fentanyl precursors is just dumb. |
| ames... | Total bullshit! He’s lowering tariffs on fentynol but running his presidency around the war on drugs? - Bombing ships and setting our national guard against our own people? Fucking hypocrite! |
| jdrf... | Good job Mr President |
| ekbu... | He’s had to probably give up chip restrictions |
| debb... | It’s not going to change anything just like all his other “negotiations “ |
| ifar... | Will have to see how this actually materializes. In the past, China has said they would purchase x-amount of soybeans and then reality was different. As I am involved with agriculture, I will let them show me the follow through. |
| pete... | It's better that Trump is now actually talking to Xi. The worry is that Xi is by far the smarter of the two. |
| phil... | I’m not sure that reducing tariffs on the drug that’s killing Americans, and coming from China is wise but I’m sure there’s a reason and I’d love to hear it. |
| bret... | Trump created the drama so hard to get positive about the results. Can we please get back to free and fair trade before bankruptcies start piling up? |
| lyde... | Why cutting tariffs on fentanyl precursors? How about something else? That should be non negotiable, 100% tariff. |
| gdma... | What was China going to do on fentanyl to deserve a 50 percent reduction in the tariff rate from, 20 percent to 10 percent ? China has never abided by the terms of prior agreements. Why should the US trust them now? |
| wald... | Keep the talks going |
| twin... | trump cant even put a sentence together let alone negotiate! He is a disgrace! |
| pjpa... | As positive as can be expected when dealing with a country that giving up power that marked their historic rise |
Should the U.S. resume nuclear weapons testing in response to other countries’ actions?

| mdul... | I think people that take just a small step back to consider where we have come to must get a least a wry smile. Trump has done everything he possibly could to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize while he deploys his personal militia into US cities he dislikes and threatens deploying standing military to further escalate his suppression of free speech. And, now he is reverting to a nuclear arms race that one of the greatest POTUS of all time, Ronald Reagan, managed to diplomatically pull the world back from the brink of a nuclear war. Trump remains at the bottom of every list of best POTUS of all time and his hopes of getting a Nobel Peace Prize seem further away than ever. |
| bjef... | If nuclear detonations are meant, then negotiations with everyone to prevent all such tests as before are necessary. We already have global warming. Oh yeah, let's just add radiation to the mix. If just testing delivery systems, then we're already firing off rockets anyway so why interject the nuclear part. It's typical Trump zaniness and deliberate obsfucation. |
| ocds... | Another distraction from the Epstein files. |
| tubi... | it only escalates tensions. my WAG is theyre setting up to put us into a war/declared conflict and suspend elections. |
| joli... | its insane to engage in anything nuclear WTF?" |
| dave... | what a terrible idea |
| beco... | I am unsure if there are experts left to make decisions and plans. Have they been fired. Have they been replaced. If they were fired my opinion would be based on the credentials and experience of the replacements. |
| kelt... | and the first practice site should be Hamas |
| arth... | The alpha wolf in this in this game is the one with the sharpest and best teeth. |
| mads... | No other country has done any recent nuclear weapons testing! Trump can write off is Nobel Peace Prize with the call for the US to resume nuclear weapons testing. |
| walk... | Why No? Do you think that will stop the others?, No. Will we fall behind?, Yes. It is all a bad idea, but we are saddled with bad players |
| rjfe... | Ego driven braggadocio by an insecure cowardly bully unrestrained by his lack of grasp of reality. |
| msme... | This is a terrifying world |
| phil... | We cannot be seen to be doing nothing when other countries are testing and lying about it. We must remain the most powerful nation. |
| hine... | That is what detante is about - everyone acts equally so each side knows the other is an equal and therefore less likely to actually push the button and end mankind. |
| mart... | We need to go back to negotiations to continue the ban on nuclear weapons testing, not go back to the cold war escalation. |
| mrse... | What happened to being the leader of the world rather than a follower? |
| wald... | Where is the promised diplomacy and the famed art of a deal? I did not vote for nuclear conflict , endless wars, and end to freedom of speech among other things |
| dubn... | Our aresnal is old Have to test to make sure it works in a pinch |
| paul... | I thought we already knew ours worked. |
| usct... | What exactly are we testing. Is this a Trump idea or is someone pulling his control strings. Powerful nations do not have to prove they are powerful. The weak minded leader does this. |
| rmen... | We should test and continue updating the nuclear weapon delivery systems and be on alert with our sites. Also visit allied countries to inspect |
Should the Fed consider a larger rate cut (e.g., 0.5 percentage points) rather than 0.25 points to respond to the labor market slowdown?
- 59% No
- 33% Yes
- 8% Unsure

|---|---|
| djre... | Inflation from Trump's ill-advised and poorly thought out higher tariffs are already causing inflation and increasing consumer credit debt. |
| bjef... | The reason is the idiot in the white house fueling the inflation through higher taxes/tariffs. You can only hide that damage and false increase in profits due to inflation is, as mentioned above, false. |
| bret... | AI spend is out of control. Anything that encourages more spend on AI and adjacent robotics fields is just going to speed up job losses. The fed can't fix the labor market. They can prevent the expansion of an investment bubble. |
| trdy... | No since this market slowdown was created by Trump’s tariffs and other barriers. |
| usct... | It is hard to say as the government shutdown is limiting economic information. And Trump is limiting information he does not like. |
| mark... | The Fed is receiving less economic data due to Trump administration and shut down. I suspect the data from the Trump administration is inaccurate. Are we flying blind? |
| ja4w... | Reassess after viable job data is available |
| paul... | I just don't know if cutting the rate is really helping, or delaying the inevitable. |
| kelt... | need to get housing back on track, and get mortgage rates more affordable |
| crai... | Inflation is a real issue and more likely to grow with the deportations. |
| bnig... | They need ALL the info (ie jobs reports) before making larger cuts |
| hine... | They shiuld have done the full 1% 6 months ago when factors started to stall and change rather than play politics and wait for them to go bad. |
| ebr.... | No. Doing so would throw us into a severe recession. |
Do you believe OpenAI’s $1 trillion IPO valuation is realistic or overly optimistic?

| bjef... | At the moment, AI just adds to my workload as I have to clean up its mistakes. I have no interest in AI art, chat companions or whatever someone thinks I want. In my job, work was often halted because some safety monitoring device glitched shutting down a machine that was otherwise fully capable of functioning. So far, my experience with AI has been that it only adds another failure point, only soon, there will be no way to override it's mistakes. As a pilot I know that "George" as we fondly call our autopilots, can track a straight line better than I can because it senses electrons and I have to wait until I visually see a needle move. But if you've ever been in a plane when "George" just suddenly cuts out or, even worse, decides to do something you don't expect, you can be dead real quick. The makers of George have all been paid and are safe in their beds and I'd be in a smoking wreckage. I'm sorry, but there are real reasons I don't trust AI mainly because I can't react quickly enough to correct something that could kill me. Sort of like driverless Teslas if you get my meaning. A lot of Tesla drivers are driving no more. But old Elon is still rich. Am I the only one who sees this disconnect? |
| bret... | Open AI will never be profitable. |
The Gates Foundation funds programs like the TB Drug Accelerator. How effective do you believe private philanthropy is compared to government funding in fighting diseases like TB?
- 51% More effective
- 39% About the same
- 10% Less effective
| Comments | |
|---|---|
| sher... | Pre Trump my answer would have been different. |
| fnpn... | The only caveat to private philanthropy is they can push a political agenda. The Gates foundation is infamous for its left, leaning activities. However, I feel like the good completely weighs the bad. |
| pats... | The government has to many funds they support. |
| isel... | It doesn't matter where the funding originates as long as the funds are available |
| bnig... | With so many cuts in NIH grant funding, philanthropy is needed to fund research |
| keit... | Private foundations and research institutes do great work! They are focused on specific diseases that need focused effort. But the total amount available through those foundations is a small fraction of what NIH invests at the many academic centers where a much larger number of researchers are working to fight a much broader array of diseases. |
| kbki... | It is better to have a collective agreement through a government as to the programs to be funded. Private funding depends on the whim of one wealthy individual. Because taxation of wealthy individuals has been slashed, the government is underfunded to provide money to different programs. |
| jwon... | I think they are both needed. Both the government and private philanthropists have large assets, but they each have a different sphere of influence (and different motivations and benefits of their generosity). |
| mona... | They both have the ability to invest in top talent and utilize large sums of money to find new health care standards. |
Do you believe microbes evolving to break down plastic represent a hopeful long-term solution to ocean pollution?
- 75% Yes
- 13% Unsure
- 12% No

|---|---|
| paul... | They might help in the immediacy, but down the road what if they grow & reproduce beyond control? They could pose a hazard. |
| bfph... | Unknown risks are concerning |
| tmur... | This is not Darwinian evolution. It is the God given ability of bacteria to adopt like they do when there is a big oil spill. These bacteria are not on their way to becoming a dog, or even a different type of bacteria. |
| ceal... | Can it scale? |
| ebr.... | Thank goodness, too! Something evolving to save us from ourselves! |
| pjpa... | The production of plastic is more than the plastic-eating enzymes can keep up with. |
| cind... | Seems like something scary might come out of it. |
| elbe... | What will the plastics industry do to destroy this? |
