Just facts, you think for yourself

Should the CDU form a coalition with AfD to ensure a stable German government?

  • 64% No, AfD should remain excluded
  • 36% Yes, voters chose AfD for a reason

EmailComments
pama...I say this because I believe to exclude them only gives them power.
zack...Join them now or AfD will easily win the next election. All the propaganda in the west won’t stop citizens from waking up to the reality that these leftist governments have completely failed their citizens.
moue...Remember all the horror stories about the right wing party growing up in Germany
rich...No borders- no country Legal immigration only
cica...No! Don’t give the AFD the breathing room that the Republican Party gave the MAGAts. 25 to 30% of the population has always been crazy and extremist. But now with social media, they have a place where they can all get together. That’s what’s fueling the phenomenon of right wing extreme
fmge...Why invite Nazis into the government?
kacy...No facials
stac...I recently visited Germany. I estimate of the human interactions I had, 60% were middle eastern, 20% African, and 20% actual Germans. The actual Germans were friendly. The rest were frankly people you just don’t want to be around.
jaso...One only needs to look at history in this last century and the answer becomes very clear as to why they should remain excluded. What’s happening in the USA is a clear example as well.
neil...Oh I see 35% are Nazis
joer...Not to form a coalition with AFD is shortsighted and will lead to a win for AFD at the next election, if Merz cannot create a substantial shift in economics and overall mood of the people. Making the AFD part of the government puts them also in the hot seat, rather then not being responsible and critiquing everything that's done.
jhck...The neo nazi party is too extreme and would move Germany to begin ethnic profiling and persecutions of minorities .
roci...They are too radical and intolerant, and the only thing they would do is isolate Germany from the European context.
pjsm...Right wing, anti-democracy extremist supported by billionaires are attempting to take over the US as well as Europe for their own personal gains. They must be stopped.
ilov...Now I’m not so sure if that’s the right way to look at it. Because you shouldn’t exclude something completely you have to work with it and compromise.
kevi...The amount of money the elites of the world are spending to fuel far right ideology is alarming and astounding.
fcse...Never again. Any party even close to Nazi views must be excluded in Germany and elsewhere.
dann...AfD have shown themselves to be the successors to the Nazis, they should be stomped out
lw63...I wish I knew more about it to make an informed decision.
stap...A few percent of extremists can always be neglected. However, the will of 20% of the voiters should not be excluded from any discussion or parcicipation. Otherwise, it would be a real "threat to democracy".
anne...Stability and World peace can be accomplished-only.if we invest in it. Germany needs to get back to balance and be a real Nato player versus pretending to be.
brod...AfD is toxic.
sasb...With a Trump/Vance Whitehouse, Europe and NATO need to have a “middle ground” philosophy to balance the US move to far right policies.
lynd...we assume that people vote FOR something, but often people vote AGAINST something instead. I think its premature to believe that people voted for all of the policies of the AfD, but I bet they voted AGAINST a lot of the current policies through casting a ballot for the AfD. If this is the case, the govt should in fact include some AfD representation to try to understand which policies should be modified. or they risk the AfD coming into full power and having the ability to implement more than the voters perhaps want.
judi...World War II decisively showed the dangers of Nazism. We cannot allow it to return, ever!

Will the $1.5Billion ByBit hack push more investors away from crypto in favor of traditional finance?

  • 76% Yes, it makes crypto seem too risky
  • 24% No, crypto is here to stay

EmailComments
cica...Crypto of Ponzi scheme and it’s gonna do to the world’s economy what the housing collapse did in 2007. Only probably worse.
scsi...Crypto is a scam. We already have digital currency. This is only best used by criminals!
walk...Dont understand it anyway
exmx...I was wondering how others would answer this. I believe it is here to stay AND it’s too risky.
patr...Crypto is very risky - many say it’s a scam - and this hack makes it more so.
zack...Crypto is the future!!
gray...It's all a facade
egan...This proved that cyber security can never keep up with hackers! All it takes is one mistake and you can lose everything in your digital assets

Are you in favor or against Elon Musk's email request for federal employees to justify their employment?

  • 68% Against
  • 26% In favor
  • 6% I'm ambivalent

EmailComments
jlet...If my boss asked me to submit 5 things that I have done this week or I would be fired, I would have to do it.It's not that big a deal... Anybody who has a position in any employment should be able to submit five things that they have accomplished this week. If for some reason you cannot submit 5 things that you have accomplished this week, you probably aren't doing anything and you should be fired
sher...Musk has no role in our government.
laur...Let government officials manage their work force and make their own decisions about which employees and positions are effective and which ones are now and should be eliminated. These actions and decisions are contributing to more inefficiency.
mich...You have to have a plan and think about what you are doing. The Doggie kids are idiots.
asch...For too long the federal government bureaucrats have failed to be productive. I think making them summarize their work for the previous week is not onerous or wrong - it is a tool for them to see where they can improve.
ende...Elon Musk go back to your own country
pjsm...He is making destructive and uninformed changes that will damage more than “improve efficiency”.
cica...it’s abusive. It’s sadistic and insulting to a lot of people who take their jobs very seriously and work really hard on the behalf of the American people. And they’re not saving any money.
nola...Musk is a mental case.
jwsa...I don't see how showboating and destruction are going to improve efficiency, or more importantly effectiveness. All I see is an increase in corruption following the destruction of oversight and competence.
tann...Musk is not an elected official and cannot do this. This request is ridiculous. Congress is sitting idly on the sidelines and are showing weakness and a lack of leadership. The American people need to get engaged and get involved as Trump and DOGE are out of control.
walk...Im for the pipe line workers Biden sent home on day 1
fcse...DOGE has no expertise to evaluate the work done by various departments.
bigs...Against anything Elon!
pegg...DOGE is not a real entity. It is incredible that Trump has empowered (illegally) Elon Musk and his crew to threaten and "fire" hard working federal employees, all the while gloating about it. The optics of the richest man in the world holding a chain saw and laughing as he celebrates the firing of middle class federal workers.
meli...As a physician and federal worker, Musk's actions are nothing short of harassment. The DOGE's short-sided reduction in the number of government employees is being undertaken without regard for the important roles many of the terminated employees served. This behavior is reckless and will ultimately result in harm to the American health in terms of public health and safety.
hmar...Making changes to the bloated federal government is like trying to remove a beached whale
wrwa...Against individuals responding. It’s the responsibility of each manager of the departments to know what’s being accomplished as per job descriptions
avaa...Musk is not a hired employee anyone voted for. He should be sent back to South Africa because he's a migrant stealing money from taxpayers for his and others in government now. This is a travesty
egan...Curious on how all the responses will be reviewed?
kevi...Wait until it gets warmer out and these tactics take affect as the collateral damage and fallout starts to fruition... Civil unrest may be an understatement.
lynd...When did we become a country where the basic employment contract = you work and get paid for that work = change to "you can decide to work or not, and you're entitled to a paycheck AND protection AND your feelings never being hurt AND no turmoil ever to upset you." WHAT?? I have zero problem writing five bullets of what I did last week. Its not insulting, unless you did nothing. its not intrusive, unless you think the taxpayers don't need to know how their money is being spent. These employees work for ME, for US. we should care and should be able to check that work is still necessary. The government is not a business or a charity, it works for the people... all of us. So yes, if jobs are eliminated be fair to those workers, but also yes, ask them what they're doing!!
brod...Elon Musk is the one who should have to justify his employment. The conflicts of interest are obvious.
jaso...Shameful and ignorant. Appalling maybe is a better word.
gray...Musk needs to be stop WTF!
fmge...Musk was not elected, and should not have near the power he has been granted.
real...He is an unofficial person with no authority because what Trump is having him do is beyond presidential powers
roci...It is a shame that we are reaching such extremes.!!
bria...Unfettered chaos outside of the lanes of the normal law should not be allowed
quir...He's throwing the baby out of the bathwater. Anyone who's experienced corporate layoffs has seen the company begging certain people to come back or paying more for freelancers who are uncommitted. There's a right way to do this.
jodu...The approach they are using will do more damage in the long run. Our employees deserve better treatment than this. Any Ops Manager would find this approach revolting.
ltat...Virtually every employee in the public market needs to account for their work and productivity. Why does any government employee think they don’t?
kpnj...Send Musk home. Deport him
rgar...I agree with what DOGE is doing, the Federal work force needs to be trimmed and they should go back to the office. However I think this order is an over-reach. The new administrations cabinet members should evaluate their organizations and make stateigic adjustments. Biden inflated the federal work force for two reasons. (# 1) that is what Dems/Libs do, create big government and burocracy. (# 2) creating thousands of federal jobs make the employment numbers look favorable.
zack...After 20 years of government service I could not be happier about this. I’d say about 35% of my department was wasteful. The people that are scamming the most are the loudest in screaming this fake victimhood. Remember 95% of gov employees voted for Kamala. The U.S. cannot survive with this debt and waste! The bureaucracy has to be cleaned out. Would be nice to see you cover the job growth under Biden and how the mass majority of the jobs added were government leaching jobs. Simply put they are fraudulent numbers! Huge story that MSM hopes to continue to ignore.
grah...What's going on with Musk and the so-called "DOGE" is outright insanity. The American people - especially those of us who call ourselves Republicans - have GOT to open our eyes and see what's happening here.
rwtu...Musk is out of control.
lewi...It is probable there is mismanagement and waste in the Fed FTE budget. This should be managed without endangering the safety and welfare of our nation. Not to mention it should be done in a humane way. The current approach disregards both the safety of our nation and the humanity impacted.
rmac...Again this proves this news site is mainly liberal
kold...Who the fuck does Elon Musk think he is?
maar...Not sure why there is a perception that government employees should be less accountable than private sector employees?
nord...I have no problem with writing down what I have done over the past week or even month for my job! Had to do it all the time when I worked for Head Start. I had to do a daily log of what i was teaching and why, what it was doing for the child and family! Easy to do!
lesl...DOGE should focus on cutting middle management instead of practitioners and people who actually do work.
shar...Musk is a narcissistic, fascist elitist threat.
robs...It happens in Corporate America all the time. Only national security & privacy sensitivities should be excluded.
cmur...He is an unelected bully and scumbag. Get rid of him
tand...Musk is an unelected person with no authority over any government employees. All should disregard any of his orders, period.
rich...go to work like the rest of us
wals...Musk is a psychopath and needs to go away.
delu...IT'S A SHIT SHOW. WE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE ASKING THIS QUESTION. HE'S CRAZY MAN.
lw63...He is absolutely out of control and " President Musk" must be removed simply to preserve our democracy.
to55...Musk is a tool his majesty KING TRUMP
mman...Musk is not an elected official!!! This power grab of his is unlawful and dangerous. When will he be stopped and by who?
gina...Elon is a putz!
gary...Elon Musk is a danger to our republic
jmbe...Who exactly was supposed to review and analyze the hundreds of thousands (or millions?) of responses to Musk's request? And who exactly is paying THEIR salaries?
ccob...Can not believe the power this man thinks he has. He is not an elected political advisor.
trag...It is up to he different government departments to oversee and valuate their saff, It reallynisnt Musk’s place to demand this especially in a threatenng manner with noncompliance viewed as resignation. If he wants to understand how the deparment functions- its goals and strategies - do so in a thoughtful manner with greater preparation time. This could be done in a collaborative fashion, not with demands and threats
dann...I can’t believe this is a real question
duff...Got to get rid of Musk. Let our elected officials do the work they were sent to Washington to do.
hugh...It's illegal
dljt...Elon Musk needs to take a one ride in one of his rockets.
sara...I think sometimes people forget what it’s like to go to the DMV or Post Office. Of those places were private, most would be fired.
rich...Not what top levels of government should be focused on. How about a vision to solve people’s main problems?
valm...Many of these agencies deal with classified information and Elon just wants the employees to send him a bulleted list of their duties? He has absolutely no common sense or understanding of how our goverment works. GET HIM OUT OF THERE!!!
cmar...DOGE is not a legal government entity.
mhic...I’m glad to see the challenge to our system to test its elasticity and responses. I think that Musk is rightfully appointed. That his decisions may face challenges, is a different matter. However, the federal government in many instances seems to act as if it is above reproach when in fact the opposite is true. It’s not about this person and the opinions of his methods, or party line rhetoric, but that government DOES need streamlining, SHOULD be transparent and should not wince at the concept of having executive oversight to ensure that U.S. citizens—the rightful beneficiaries of government benefits and primary benefactors of its existence—are paying only their fair share for programs and services which can, under scrutiny, prove with reasonable plausibility that they serve the needs of the majority, or where it is the minority, it is because those programs help citizens which are unable to help themselves.
suza...He has no place in our government and no right to make these demands and must be removed, before we find ourselves quickly to be the worst nation in the world, rather than the greatest.
emee...He was never elected and does not belong in Government decisions. We don’t need a government filled with nepotism and “best friends”!!!! We need people with experience and honesty.

Do you think that Berkshire Hathaway’s record cash position is a sign of strength or caution?

  • 54% Caution: They see limited investment options
  • 40% Strength: They’re prepared for opportunities
  • 6% Other

jack...It’s insane that insurance payouts are seen as losses and they make a profit from overcharging people for insurance. Greed at its finest
cica...it’s both. It’s a sign of economic weakness and it’s an opportunity to hoard, cash and deploy it later at a better opportunity.
tdol...Just another sign of corporate greed. They have plenty to help those who lost, but will still find a way to NOT pay so they can maintain their wealth.
thdr...They want to see what happens in the market.
kevi...This is a terrible framing for a question. What this exposes is the waste in insurance. In a time where we see "waste" being attacked in our government that have direct oversight on big business, seeing insurance underwriting companies over double their profits during the most expensive year from natural disasters is wild. Yet, the bots won't say one peep on how this is wasteful because "the king" didn't say it.
amus...Buffet and Team has is known for positions themselves to me know right places or >investments at the right times
brod...Berkshire-Hathaways earnings are another clear signal that capitalism results in a skewed society.
arch...Both.

Are you in favor of gene editing for medical purposes?

  • 78% Yes
  • 22% No

EmailComments
nick...I think this is interesting research, especially knowing there are genetic links to some forms of cancer. I have my doubts that this would ever be available to the common person but still, it is an interesting possibility.
trag...I have a grandchild with a rare genetic disorder and I have met numerous children with this genetic disorder as well as children and adults with rare genetic disorders. I have also met several physiciand and researchers who are working quite hard to find treatments, such as gene editing, that will improve the lives of these individuald and their famillies
brod...This will lead to nightmare scenarios.
sanf...Too much room for unethical people to misuse the information.
tdol...It’s dangerous with Musk in his position of power I could see this being used for bad things
schu...it will be interesting to see when it help regrow hair or change eye color. commercial applications is where the money is at.
lw63...It must be closely monitored so the results can be only used benefit.
rgar...how do you control this for the future.
ruth...Already successful in cancer therapy and sickle cell.. keep researching!

Do you think nuclear fusion will become a viable energy source within our lifetime?

  • 57% Yes, breakthroughs are accelerating
  • 23% I don't know enough
  • 20% No, it’s still too far away

EmailComments
rgar...It will happen sooner than later. It has hugh potential both good and bad. This technology will bring the next unfathomable weapon that can destroy the world.
zack...Especially once we find out how big a scam green energy is.
rumr..."I don't know enough" is perhaps my most honest answer on most of the polling questions.
kevi...This is an odd framing of a question again. If someone is 80, probably not. If they are in their 20s, yes. Who writes these questions?
dagi...In fusion, some of the most exciting work is happening at MIT's Plasma Science and Fusion Center in collaboration with Commonwealth Fusion Systems.
wlkm...Nuclear power must be a major part of move away from fossil energy
gary..."our lifetime" needs definition
