bria... | I agree to cut government spending wholeheartedly. But I’d like a little more understanding and details to make sure it’s wise and how the important duties will still get done, so democrats aren’t having valid issues with it |
made... | When will they look at Elon Musk contracts??? |
dawn... | He need to have the Congress members audited as well as the IRS themselves. |
kcgm... | Musk is running this country and Trump is not interested in the country…..abusing his power to seek revenge. |
atli... | While I disagree with 99% of what Trump does, I would support cutting all private, for profit governmental consulting. Civil servants are far less expensive, universities and not for profits have fewer vested interests, while private sector, for profit consultants offer little for more. |
lcpc... | when you are going into debt - you must CUT to survive |
zack... | This is either the only chance we have to fix our government or the start of a change we needed 30 years ago. Either way it’s a great thing for our country. Sad to see so many still believe the propaganda. The Tesla protests are an easy way to understand how evil/powerful the far left truly is. BTW We are still 37 trillion in debt! |
kell... | Those contracts are developed through a long and complex procurement process. |
gene... | They are going to fast and will make a lot of errors at this pace. |
cmer... | Recent cuts have made it obvious that money was not only wasted but also embezzled and outright stolen. Not only should cuts continue, but those responsible, regardless of party affiliation, should be prosecuted and never allowed to serve in public office again on any level. |
48de... | It's about time we have a president who is actually cutting the waist. |
waho... | I have no information on the purpose of the various consulting contracts; therefore I cannot have an informed opinion. |
vick... | Let’s cut the consulting contracts instead of the loyal government staff of essential services. |
cica... | This is all designed by Trump to say $4 trillion so that he can put that into his big fat tax cut for rich billionaire people. The rest of us will get screwed. Deloitte and these other companies will be laying off people who may not be able to find employment elsewhere. We are hurting toward a great depression. |
amye... | Should be done on a case-by-case basis |
kfre... | Unclear. Consultants are often hired to find savings that more than offset the fees that they charge. |
step... | The big 10 are milking the situation and the government. If only they would provide senior and advanced added-value to agencies but they leverage the offshore model by supplying mediocre manpower to most of their projects. Govi agencies will have to rely on their own IT rather than in expensive consultancies. |
lawe... | This question provides no data with which to make an informed decision. While the current administration seems hell bent on privatizing agencies, here they are taking an ax to private contractors without conducting thoughtful investigations into where waste exists and how money can be saved. I’m all for reducing waste, fraud, and unnecessary spending. What I am against is illegally and unconstitutionally breaking contracts without proper investigation and a plan for moving forward. |
chas... | AS SOON AS HE GOT IN THE FIRST TIME HE QUICKLY, GREEDILY GAVE HIMSELF AND HIS ULTRA WEALTHY GREEDY BUDDIES THAT GOT HIM IN THERE A HUGE TAX CUT. HE USED THE UNGODLY LIE HE DID IT TO CREAT JOBS. AND NOW HE CUTTING JOBS IN A MOST UNGODLY WAY. HE SAYS HE TRYING TO MAKE GOVERMENT SMALLER. WELL OF COURSE HE ONLY NEEDS A GOVERNMENT TO REPRISENT HIS GREEDED SELF AND HIS ULTRA GREEDED WEALTHY BUDDIES. AS FAR AS CONSULTING GOES HE DOES NOT KNOW THAT IS, THE SPOILED BRAT AWAYS GOT HIS WAY AND NEVER HAD TO CONSULT WITH ANYBODY. |
amyc... | It is important to understand what work is being done before cancelling. |
cvon... | We don't know what the consulting is for, so it's impossible to say. |
petr... | Arbitrary cuts without defining what is being cut is truly foolish. |
rach... | Just like us citizens, we have to learn to be more responsible and do more with less — prioritize. Everything is up for review. |
bate... | Cut everything then they can reapply once the dust settles. |
cpor... | Cutting for the sake of cutting without considering the consequences is irresponsible. |
perm... | Considering all the wasteful and fraudulent spending that has been uncovered by DOGE (thank you Elon Musk for doing a difficult job you don’t have to do, but actually risk personal and financial harm for doing) every expenditure needs to be examined for legitimacy. Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid are not being harmed, but fraudulent spending is being stopped. Who could be against ending the abuse of tax dollars and making our federal government more efficient?! Don’t we each strive to do the same with our household finances? This necessary economic discomfort is required for the long term financial health and well being of our country. It will take time, considering the path to the problem evolved over a period of many years, greatly exacerbated over the past four years. |
miss... | I don't have enough info on the contracts being cut to comment. |
mass... | Depends on justifying the cuts as unneeded waste, or overinflated costs to get more government money |
akyg... | I do not support across the board cutting of jobs or services. I do support review and justify jobs, services and programs. I completely disagree with actions tRump & Musk are taking. |
kimk... | Voting on this, one way or the other, would be just as arbitrary as the government cuts. |
lora... | The government should cancel all consultant work and make government employees do their job themselves. |
shir... | Like all DOGE cuts, there is no evaluation as to the value or benefit of each contract. |
mart... | No way to know. Stands to reason there is some fluff as these things get baked in over time. But it also appears to be an enormous whack. Where's the scalpel? |
scsc... | There should be staging reducing force. The cut came in abruptly and bluntly toward probation people. When government employees change jobs or promotion to GS13-GS15 within government, there is one to two years of probation periods, depending on agencies. The Deferred retirement plan and other 2 plans to encourage government employees to have early retirements is wasting a lot of $$$, meanwhile some critical positions can’t be eliminated, even those retired. The DOGE team should just let each agencies handle their own reductions given 2-3 years plan. Asking military weekly reports to the DOGE team is a total disaster. Who get to read every military and intelligence actions reports? It’s dangerous that trump or any of those people give the military and intelligence info to foreign countries. This should haven’t even happened, allowed. |
wlof... | I dont know |
bonn... | Low unemployment keeps the economy humming. Messing with that is foolish. We have lost more in the markets than the idiots are saving. He is destroying wealth for millions |
alys... | I have no idea what the contracts are for, so I’d like to know before saying they are justified, but it sounds great! I’m sure we are wasting an insane amount of money and it’s nice to see spending being reeled in from somewhere other than social programs. |
shas... | He’s stealing from the American people who pay the most in taxes like me and lies and has no plans where is all this money going where are his plans. Gutting things that help the poor, working poor and middle class. |
aubr... | I have wasted so much time working with Consultants like Deloitte in the private sector. No clue what value they add. I was just continuing to explain our systems on daily calls with 30 people and they didn’t take good notes and we would have to explain again the next day. |
cand... | If, indeed, we are finding that these are unnecessary contracts then by all means we should cut them. |
gmac... | They need cutbacks but with more care. The danger is govt will outsource everything and we lose control |
creo... | If you want to know why you’re members of Congress vote the way they do Follow The Money |
bbes... | Do am audit to determine which ones are necessary. Indiscriminate whacking of expenses ends up costing more! |
cdte... | As he should do with federal staffing and agencies, President trump and his staff need to do a more thoughtful review. They are haphazardly axing staff, agencies and contracts with no thought to consequences or impact. There are lots of ways to make government more efficient. This is not it. His promise to eliminate fraud, waste and abuse cannot happen in this haphazard, chainsaw way. |
tubi... | i would like to see the homework. |
mich... | If you need people to accomplish goals for needed projects you either hire people or use consultants. Consultants go away when they are done employees remain on the payroll. The question is whether the projects were important. Don Cheeto is an idiot that wants to put big numbers up without thinking about what he is doing. |
momm... | Not disputing cuts most likely needed but let's take a look at the spending first, find the pork and then make cuts as needed. Be proactive Not reactive. |
jimb... | Not enough info provided to give a reasoned answer |
magi... | some cuts are appropriate but not in the across the board chainsaw manner that they are being done making it a destructive exercise |
rays... | He wants to be a dictator |
kenh... | There is no info about these grants so how can one rationally give an answer other than just following ideological lines |
paxt... | Until there’s a justifiable need these too often become annuities. |
dan.... | you have employees that are hired to have the skills to perform the work. Why do you need so much consulting expertise to execute. Maybe you hired the wrong people |
ilov... | Cut it all. Start by ending income tax. This will starve the bloated government. |
dpre... | This is hardly enough information to make a determination |
ppet... | He has no clue how to run government. It is ironic that people think slashing and burning is the answer to big government. |
news... | When I started at Accenture as a consultant in mid-90s, the firm charged $200 per hour for me on a government project upstate NY. It was my first year after college. I had no specialized skills to offer at that rate and there were dozens of us working on a project for 2 years. I was making $10-14 per hour if you include unpaid overtime. It was a giant waste of state money, so I can only imagine what happens at federal projects! |
marc... | Long overdue. As a retired consultant it's time to hold all accountable. These firms have long overcharged for less then stellar services and use practices that smaller less expensive firms can't to win these contracts. |
chia... | Many contracts should absolutely be cut. But like all the other haphazard cuts, a chainsaw method is not the way to do it. |
kibb... | It depends on who is being targeted and why |
docb... | Use a scalpel blade not a hacksaw |
scot... | The wasteful government spending needs to be reigned in. |
matt... | Insufficient information to respond because I don’t understand the criteria used for the cuts. This said, consulting can be a source of variable workforce instead of full time employees—and there is the opportunity to use smaller firms that come with less overhead and therefore more reasonable levels of investment. |
tomg... | Not much I think Trump is doing right, but reviewing how the money is being spent seems okay with me |
jrv1... | Many firms and people have soaked reaped the profits from Uncle Sam. Cut hard now and slowly add back as required. Everyone loves to accept the governments (really the taxpayers) money. |
c.ma... | Until the effect of the cuts on government services and the economy can be determined, which will be months and years after they are made, it can't be decided. Although I suspect services will be cut and the economy will suffer but that may be mostly from the tariffs. |
jfil... | I can’t weigh in without knowing the criteria used to determine which contracts to cut. |
sbfr... | While I agree there needed to be reform in government spending- addressing it with a chainsaw rather than a scalpel is going to fivk up the economy. |
jllm... | Deloitte Consulting is just that, they are there to implement the software systems that run this country. Once up and running and turned over to its clients they own it. Sooner or later it will become apparent to even the most uneducated, that this administration is clueless. They ask for information they should already know. Now they want to do it themselves, believing having money is expertise. It is going to take years and a lot more money to fix the irreparable harm being done to the country now. |
mbul... | The only reason trump is cutting contracts is so that he can turn around and “sell” them to the highest bidder. |
kare... | Using private consultants who have experience serving in our Armed Forces provide the knowledge to help our government, especially in areas such as the Department of Defense and help with health services for wounded warriors who wish to continue serving! |
madm... | If there had been a consensus study using by legislators representing the viewpoints of all sides, I would support cost cutting measures. But indiscriminant slash and burn by an unelected, ill informed, Trump syncophant is unacceptable. |
cmar... | No, no, no. Generally, I would agree with cutting consulting contracts...but like everything else this administration is doing, it's all willy-nilly and being done too quickly for ample research. |
thom... | The cuts are long overdue. |
char... | Who knows. they are already intended to reduce the size of the on record work force |
erwi... | It is time to clean up over spending on big 5 cofirms that make billions from tax payers. There are unnecessary projects and projects that never get completed. |
hutu... | it depends on what the consulting was for. |
