Anna's Daybreak News

Just facts, you think for yourself

If Hamas fails to release the remaining hostages, should Israel resume full-scale military operations in Gaza?

  • 60% Yes, they need to act
  • 40% No, negotiations should continue

EmailComments
woch...Israel has broken the ceasefire over 130 times. do better in your reporting.
davi...Elaborate on my answer ? What should I say ? This terrorists have had their way for too long. There is no reason for them to keep the hostages but they are using them for propaganda purposes. Enough ! It’s time to show these bastards what shock and awe are all about. As for the willfully blind close mouthed allies of Gaza that gleefully supported the rockets, mortars, the tunnels and the stockpiling of an arsenal as well as 7/10/23, either get out of harm’s way or get killed.
kbra...The only way to secure peace is to negotiate and to honor the terms of the Cease Fire Deal. And keep the Dictator Donald Trump out of it! Threats to turn Gaza into a strip of luxury hotels and let "Palestinians go wherever they want" (even though no country has agreed to take them) is ignorant and cruel.
re13...Absolutely! Kill every single Hamas terrorist. Israel cannot afford to have even one alive.
ecne...If the remaining hostages are in good health and condition, I don’t understand why thousands of Palestinians in Gaza need to die. Negotiations must continue! We are dealing with a difficult and dangerous culture. Who knows if our hostages will survive if war breaks down again.
marc...Short of dropping an a-bomb, Israel will only degrade, not eliminate Hamas through military action at huge costs to civilians and the IDF. Negotiate the release of all held captive, get them home. Then worry about a longer term agreement which will bring security to the border.
saya...Israel has failed to provide adequate humanitarian aid that was promised and continues to block many necessities from entering Gaza. A deal is a deal. Negotiations should bring about the fulfillment of the agreement
thom...No more imperialist genocide you psychopaths.
rotr...Can’t negotiate with brainless assholes
rick...Gaza is destroyed. Additional military operations will result in needless death and may well drive hostage deaths. Trump's threats to "own" Gaza, make the hostages the last thing the Palestinians have as a negotiating chip. Trump's rhetoric may actually be causing the delay of the hostage release. Once they hostages are released, there is nothing to hold back a complete obliteration or the forced removal of Palestinians from Gaza.
rgar...Hamas has to be eliminated to insure Isreals safety and to live ib peace. President Trump needs to send a strong message to Iran that their terror factons will be met with extreme force and resolve and if they continue t suport these types of terrorist they also will face elimination.
boyn...Time to talk is over!!
mich...Respect your agreement or face the consequences.
ilov...you mean should they continue genocide? shame on you for making it appear as though it’s “military” operations.
cola...This isn't Israels land! What about the hundreds of Palestinian children and people who are hostages of Israel? They've been in prisons, tied up for months, raped, killed. Palestine will be free!
kkbo...Because both Israel and Hamas are having shitty fits while the hostages and the Gazan people are suffering. From my perspective it's just men trying to prove who has the most testosterone. Why don't we castrate them all or maybe, put a woman in charge. Women like to negotiate. They don't go right to the killing part.
cyri...If you don’t kill all of them they will kill u thst is the nature of a terrorist
zack...Israel are negotiating with savages. Hamas isn’t human, they must be wiped from the face of the earth.
tzha...I am sickened by the physical looks of 3 of the Israeli men that just recently were realeased, God bless them! The ratio of 33 hostages versus 700 plus Hamas prisoners that have been released is not right! God be with the people of Israel!!
lusk...Hamas has failed to be an honest partner and has regularly antagonized Israel. Unfortunately, Israel has put them on death ground. However, there is little to be done or discussed until all hostages returned. Then they can come to the table
maxo...What about the Palestinians hostage? They also are human beings
larr...Wipe out every last Hamas person. Don't leave one person alive.
laur...The Zionist needs to go away they are evil. That regime is evil. Netanyahu is evil anyone that supports Israel is evil.
marg...The hostages are frail and need care. More war is not going to provide that for them. The remainder of the hostages lives should be the priority. Not revenge killing.
wjbe...Tell Iran they will be the target. Obviously they control Hamas
ryan...Negotiations will only lead to hostages being exposed to more inhumane treatment.
perm...Hamas cannot be trusted. They are terrorists and they are the aggressor. The only acceptable out come is the release of all the hostages, now. With or without a prisoner release.
a_ra...How many more folks need to be killed?
316k...Why is it even a question? Hamas are terrorists that did barbaric crimes and still have hostages So odd we questions this What kind of world do we live in where these things are ok? Hamas should be forced to return all hostages and all countries should be helping To get those hostages home
trag...If fighting resumes, the ceasefire is broken and further negotiations stalled. Difficult as it is, ceasefire needs to be preserved . Resuming military operations will only lead to warfare. and delay release of hostages
bonn...All the attack have not improved the situation for anyone.
kelt...The hamas terrorist need to be eliminated, period
lois...Hamas is not to be trusted, they are terrorists. They will never give up Gaza without force and they will continue to be a threat to Israel. They have to go.
lora...Israel needs to clean out Hamas. They are terrorists and cannot be trusted.
exmx...My concern about the release of hostages is there’s probably more dead. If so, the shit will really hit the fan.
ahme...How would people be pro war? like seriously who would actively pick oh yeah lets go to war? Children are dying, people displaced and the whole scene is fucked up. its literally an open air prison
wrwa...I think that’s all Hamas understands. The negotiations seem lopsided anyway and let’s not forget who started this
pvol...It may sound cruel, however Israel must eliminate Hamas from Gaza before there is any long-term peace in the area. hamas continues to play their 'game' of release a few hostages and then stop for more negotiation. Enough is enough, end their treachery once and for all!
atli...Why do we want to treat Israel differently from Palestinians as Israel more frequently violates its agreements than do the Palestinians? Is it because that the U.S. also commonly violates agreements it makes with other countries?
farn...What the hell is going on ? Hamas needs to be eliminated. THEY ABDUCTED RAPED AND STARVED INNOCENT CIVILIANS. How can the world not see this?
sila...Do Not Negotiate with Terrorists Period!
jrv1...Not following through with action will 'em power terrorists
bruc...This is not a negotiable situation. It is extortion

Should OpenAI return to a nonprofit model?

  • 77% Yes, AI should be developed for public good
  • 23% No, for-profit models drive innovation

EmailComments
elie...I don't believe in non-profit organizations. At the end someone takes control and steers it according to their interests, same as for-profit driven, but for-profit is transparent and you know what you are dealing with.
ham3...would not normally answer like this, but believe AI effects ever human and for that matter open to everyone.
catb...But I’m not sure that’s truly Musks intent by owning it.
roci...Tener la AI sin fines de lucro, con que fondos se llevarían a cabo las innovaciones?!
dgre...But not with Elon Musk at the head of it as he cannot be trusted.
kink...Not enough trust in private sector for this level of tech.
lora...WE should let it develop on its own with no constraints by the government. Competition will regulate the development.
atli...Nationalize AI, banks, healthcare, education, and utilities

Do tariffs make the US stronger or weaker in global trade?

  • 64% Weaker—risks trade wars and higher costs
  • 23% Stronger—levels the playing field
  • 13% I am not sure

EmailComments
rgar...Balancing trade with the rest of the world would be a good thing for the US. Trumps attemp to bring manafacturing (jobs and money) back to the USA is a good thing to do. Globalization has had severe concequences for our economy. It has gone to far. I think that the tarrifs will in the long run be good for our counrty and economy. It probably will have a near term effect of raising some prices. That said when we (Americans) refuse to buy US companies imorted and taxed goods due to price increase. More of those product will be made at home.
rick...Trade isolationism has been the prelude to world wars. The current average tariff is 1.47% for goods/services coming into the US. We already have them in place. There has been a steady reduction of internal trade tariffs over the past 40 years... since the recognition that part of WWII was the trade sanctions against Germany as punishment for WWI. Not only are they bad for international stability, the WILL raise the prices for US citizens (some of which still believe that they won't pay the tariffs in increased food and goods prices). I get why a business-oriented, transactionally-driven President would want to use tariffs as a 'big stick' to get concessions for the US. I'd probably do the same - for a very, very short while. But, this behavior only unsettles the US and promotes the 'security' of going to PRC, Russian and others for more stable tariffs.
atli...We need to address climate change through international cooperation. Import Chinese electric cars and solar panels.
ham3...Difficult to answer this as more data is needed to make an accurate statement. Stronger in the sense that we can become much more self sufficient driving more business and work here at home which has it own challenges and implications like having to import a workforce to get the job done here at home. However, could make the US the strongest power ever which is a worth while one and only oppurtunity. Can backfire as many companies that import product manufactured in china will be more expensive. Certainly, will be disruptive and take time, but believe it would be worth while in the end.
sgma...Our economy will weaken and prices will rise. Basic economic principles.
elie...Tariffs should only be used against dumping or origins that subsidize their products
angl...Trump’s negotiation tactics are a juvenile pissing contest. He has no idea how tariffs even work.
zack...This is the one subject I think the democrats and left wing media has dominated with. Even through they have been wrong so far about everything in regards to tariffs. The big question here, which not many are taking about, is- how do you have a trade war regarding say steel. When the foreign country depends on the U.S. for 75-80% of their steel exports? There is no leverage there. US is top consumer. Bring the jobs home and let the US thrive again!
walk...There are more factors to the model than a simple yes/no. Tariffs are a tool of many moving factors
akyg...I’m ok with products being more expensive. I would like products to be valuable. We currently live in a wasteful throw-away society.
lalo...Not only does this create conflict with our allies, this will push those counties to boycott American goods (they already have in Canada). This will mean less product being shipped out of the US and higher cost of goods for those in the US as US companies will find they can no longer afford the components and items they need from outside the US to make their products.
lora...This is the only way to stop China and India dropping cheap steel and aluminum on the US destroying US manufacturing.
mich...JUST READ A BOOK. One time.
chri...Tariffs are a tax. Trump will lose his support for the much needed reforms and cost cutting once the public reacts to the largely unrelated tariffs with the invetable higher costs and reduced industrial productivity.
paul...Anyone that believes that these tariffs won’t be passed on to consumers resulting in higher end goods costs and inflation doesn’t understand how business and the economy works. And that would surely include POTUS
tubi...its been an unfair advantage for offshore manufacturers because US politicians passed legislation allowing goods created from cheap labor to come here from abroad non-taxed. its a bitter pill for US consumers to swallow, but it will create industry onshore as a result.
bonn...This is nothing but Trump beating on his chest and alienating our allies, while he is busy destroying our democracy.
ksdb...These are reciprocal tariffs.

Should the government step in to help insurance companies cover wildfire payouts to keep premiums from rising?

  • 65% No, private insurers should handle their own losses
  • 35% Yes, it would prevent costs from being passed to homeowners

EmailComments
miah...Insurance companies need to go bankrupt.
lora...Competition will lower rates if the government will stay out of it.
jtri...Literally, a small portion of the money formerly going to USAID to pay for LGBTQIA programs overseas and subscriptions to “news” companies would cover the costs.
kelt...This was a devistating fire set by paid arsonists. The list of those who are behind it will soon be released
iris...Before sending money elsewhere, everyone here that is homeless or devastated by a natural disaster should be taken care of. We shouldn't help the insurance companies, but the people who lost everything.
ham3...make em pay. thats what they're there for. some times you win and sometimes you lose in business. nature of the beast and government should not be assisting them. in the end, the general public will pay for it in increased premiums
lalo...Insurance companies have had record profits for years and instead of storing those profits for hits like these they have passed those to CEO's and higher management. It's time for them to actually pay. That is what premiums are for. The government should force the insurance companies to keep premiums as they are and not allow them to be raised.
cola...Private insurance will be protected by the government because the government works for private insurance more than they work for the people. Our government is run like a business for the rich, not the people
chri...The cost of insurance needs to reflect the risk. Otherwise, we can't price the liability of neglect to infrastructure, negligent practices, govt policies that impact the insurance market.
angl...What is the point of having insurance if they don’t want to pay when there is a problem?
walk...Only to the extent of the liability settlement
troy...State governments could step in to help but taxpayers in other states should not have to pay for the recovery.
rgar...Funny how our insurance companies love to take our money but fight like hell to not pay us for what we are insured for when we have a claim.
mich...insurance should be reconfigured to spread premiums and casualty uncertainty across a greater population
atli...Private insurers should not be bailed out and we should never have bailed out banks during the 2008 financial crisis.
bonn...The insurance companies need to be responsible and if there are others responsible those entities should have to pay easing the burden on the insurance companies.

Does the idea that the Earth’s core can change its speed and direction surprise you?

  • 52% Yes, I thought it was stable
  • 48% No, it makes sense given the planet’s complexity

EmailComments
elie...Small changes wouldn't have surprised me but 100 m is huge !!!
dif3...I would like to know what forces act upon the core to change its speed and particularly how the inner core could actually change or reverse the direction of its movement.
ebr....Nothing stays the same. This applies to everything!
srod...It seems incredible to me that the core can change shape, speed, and even direction.
rgar...Im not suer our scientist know what they think they understand or understand what they think they know. Either way some of this scientific reserch is unnesessary or irelevant, And finally who care what the earths core does other than the scientists who study this.
troy...Why not keep an open mind to ideas and theories, especially about something nobody has ever seen.
ham3...natural laws are part of chaos
perm...Complexity is by design and not happenstance.

Who should be responsible for mitigating space debris risks?

  • 72% Private companies that launch rockets
  • 28% Governments and space agencies

EmailComments
arth...This will take a consortium of space countries, in including China and Russia to generate enough authority and capital to force this to be done. Private companies will do everything to avoid the problem.
ham3...if you own it its always your responsibility
a_ra...Really, you put it up there, you get it down safely….common sense.
tubi...of course private companies that are putting their own satellites up, should be responsible for bringing them down at their own expense.
lora...The government needs to clean up this mess.
atli...No private companies should be launching rockets into space.
jabo...Private and government space program should be responsible.
lalo...If a private companies puts something into space (high or low orbit) that is now falling towards earth, they should be held responsible for it's safe return. If it's something the governments put into space, then they should. It's called accountability.
cbph...Since most of the satellites are put there by Elon Musk and he plans to put double that amount, he should be responsible for his satellites.
rgar...Probaby does not change the stats of flying accidents or safety of flying.
catb...Both.
clee...Private companies have no business launching rockets.
rich...Gov's need to hold private companies liable for the debris
bstr...Especially Musk
walk...If you put it up there it is your responsibility
roci...En realidad en un asunto que atañe a los sectores, tanto público como privado, porque se está hablando de seguridad para los viajeros y para los que estan en tierra.
