The cost of most consumer items haven't gone down as Trump promised, just like he didn't stop the war in Ukraine in one day. His campaign promises have taken a 360 degree change from what he says today. The wealthiest Americans can ride out a higher cost of living, while most working class and poor Americans are struggling to get by. I seriously doubt causing mass numbers of unemployment in the government and in the public sector, compounded by retaliatory tarrifs are not going to achieve much of anything. Between Covid, the Afghanistan and Iraq wars we spent in excess of twenty trillion dollars according to various authors. I seriously doubt a man who's known for bankrupting businesses doesn't have the resources to recover the massive amount of debt we've accumulated over the past twenty years. This could possibly be the beginning of the fall of the American Empire. It certainly would help by taxing the wealthies companies and citizens too, not just the middle class.
