Just facts, you think for yourself

Do you believe the protests at the Portland ICE facility justified a National Guard presence?

geor...Not even close to being out of control! But I think we can make all this go away by suggesting that all protests be done away from any Federal government facility - like near city hall, a library or just somewhere where there is no Federal property involved. The local and state law enforcement groups could easily oversee any protest. And wouldn’t Trump look really ridiculous having all the National Guard soldiers just standing around with no citizens anywhere near them. And if they move to the protests wherever they are, then everyone staying home and protesting in groups on line would really make them look bad!
paol...Attacking facilities endangers lives and the guard needs to control the situation to prevent violence and bloodshed
aldi...Ice has every right to be thier
sher...This corrupt administration is out of control and they are chomping at the bit to come after all of us protesting against the would be king and his court jesters. This is about as serious as it gets folks.
mart...Just. NO.
akyg...ICE needs to be dissolved
mich...Even Trump knows it wasn't necessary but his motivation is hardly to protect federal assets. It is a show of power. He is a piece of shit.
m2be...As an American Mexican born in the USA I do!!! The lack of respect for law enforcement is disgusting!!! In Mexico, it would be handled differently through violence and immediate incarceration! People dont like the laws that are currently in place should protest lawmakers, NOT THOSE WHO ENFORCE IT!!!
miah...Stupid games, stupid prizes
eliz...Please rephrase the question: do you believe chronic Antifa violence and disregard for the law (which the local police and legal system can’t or won’t address) justifies a National Guard presence?
nuth...The is a power grab by a Felon perverted President who should resign. These judges are no better than the Felon who wants to be a dictator. These judges Project 25 is being used by his knee bending team to destroy America and democracy. Congress no longer stands up to this Felon. This is not what America elected officials by office.
chiu...Yes, violent democrats are out of control.
myro...I was there. There is absolutely no reason for the National Guard. Anything being said to justify its presence is a smokescreen for the use of federal troops to intimidate voting in democratic strongholds in future elections. This is just one more example of fascism taking hold in our country.
rodn...They are destroying Federal property and the Federal Government has the right to protest it's property. ICE agents doing their job and need protection, need Federal support.
cdko...Trump is a malignant narcissist
mnot...I am so heartbroken over the current administration and their ABUSE OF POWER. Their lack of humanity. I am deeply troubled by the hatred they have bred in our country and the families/lives they have destroyed. I am beyond embarrassed by our President and his Narcissistic behavior. He is damaging our country in ways I never imagined and I feel like we are living in a nightmare I pray will end soon.
arth...They are attacking federal facilities. Locals can’t, or won’t, protect the federal employees.
brya...Poor little fascists are afraid of the frog army. Sadly, the reality of the courts is that they chose Trump over justice.
bevd...Violent protesters have been ignored for years under Biden. They have destroyed cities, looted businesses, injured and murdered and attacked our hard-working ICE agents. Someone has to be brave enough to stop it. Our country is being overrun. Ignore it and it will get worse just as it has for the past 4 years. God help our country and Bless our President and those who believe in peace and justice.
4tam...Portland needs new leadership as the city is completely trashed and used to be a thriving business center.
bcar...Why would people think yes? It’s crazy
beck...The place is out of control. They are very angry people. No city wants all the crazies. Get a job or volunteer to help people.
jhqu...People in Portland can plainly see that the conditions requiring National Guard troops for law enforcement do not exist. Full stop. Trump and his loyal appointees are delusional.
deca...29% are stupid if they think that a priest standing in front of the facility and non violent protesters deserve to be attacked by untrained, racist, fascist ice agents. Some who were January 6rs and now they’ll send the National guard. Republicans are deplorables!!!!!
dlyl...I have no problem with protests. However, when protests become riots and include attacks on the property and persons of law enforcement, they lose their right to assemble.
reyn...It's against the law to attack in a federal agent. Or anybody for that matter. These terrorists need to be arrested and go to jail. If I commit this kind of crime against another human being, I should be going to jail.
atli...The National Guard at an ICE facility would only be required if the federal ICE agents were being placed under arrest for violation of Federal restrictions on denying due process to their victims.
kold...This is fascist politics. I suppose it's legal for the NG to be there ONLY to protect ICE. Or citizens. But if they do one thing that is law enforcement, Trump has again broken the Constitution.
wate...Portland will not allow its police to back up ICE officers. We cannot have violent protesters attacking law-enforcement officers without allowing the government to protect them if the state will not do so. This is clearly a time the National Guard is warranted.
crai...Portland is out of control. Lawless place filled with homeless and clueless
dcru...Trump is NOT sending troops to RED states that are worst in crime. He’s just making the BLUE states pay or get back at them for being Democrats.. he has a long term objective they will turn people against each other. It’s going to be bad.
dste...Beyond absurd, as the protests are small, peaceful and fun!
mwil...This is entirely Trump farce. There is nothing big hitting any news outlet that would justify National guard. If ICE wasn’t wearing masks and was displaying external identification they wouldn’t appear to be terrorists themselves. If they didn’t stick cans of mace in peoples face or shoot priests they wouldn’t encounter ANY violence.
usnf...Anytime law enforcement officers are assaulted or obstructed from carrying out their sworn duties enforcing the law or protests become riots that incite violence, it is fully justified by the constitution and legal precedent, it’s essentially a “no brainer”.
cica...Donald Trump’s an insecure loser, a phony and a fraud. This is what it looks like when he masturbates.
shan...If the protestors were a danger to others the local police would arrest them within their jurisdiction. Police, I think we've all seen, are not protecting dangerous protestors they're just protecting people's first amendment right to protest.
marg...The violence was perpetrated by ICE
ambe...Seriously. It’s Portland! There is no violence other than what is being made up for the media and is mostly older protesters playing music and people in costumes. This is highly unjustified and a breach of our right to protest.
tani...I work in Portland and there are 10-15 people peacefully protesting outside the ICE facility, dressed mostly as cartoon characters. The only violence is the shooting of tear gas into the protesters by the police. This ruling is insane.
jebr...True everywhere.
bost...These protests are a joke. I can't believe the people of PDX are allowing this nonsense to ruin their beautiful city!
aunt...The President's use of the Guard is only meant to intimidate 'blue" cities and states. IF the Guard were needed the Governor would order them
cche...why would a protest require national guard? why can't local police forces be used for those outside of the bounds of the first amendment? and why is protesting requiring any law enforcement? The ICE detention centers are prisons without due process.
jrv1...Surprised there are so many “no’s”. Certainly doesn’t appear local police can provide adequate protection.
caaj...Portland is a hot mess. There is no law and order there. Antifa and Black Lives Matter protesters burned and destroyed the whole downtown without any consequence. The police are afraid for thier own lives. The giant mall downtown doesn’t even exist anymore. Homeless everywhere. “Keep Portland Weird” is their motto. Nah more like “Make Portland Non Existent”!! There are no jobs there unless you are a doctor or teacher or government employee. Industry is blocked from expanding. Check out Intel for confirmation. Nike is the only Fortune 500 company in the state. Walmart is barely allowed to be there. Barely!! No Sam’s club. No fast food. They legalized all drugs. There is no leadership. Trees are more important than people I promise!!
moni...There is a widespread homeless problem in Portland. Take the money the administration is spending for the Gustd and put it to use, helping the homeless get homed, old apt buildings, etc….. Fox the underlining circumstances. Portland has always been a robust loving town , they do’t need the National Guard to bring order! Period
ronp...I don’t believe that the government is able to do that to any state but the fascist president thinks he can do what ever he likes regardless of the law or the constitution
rtet...Trump and MAGA are still living in 2020. It's 2025 and Portland is not under siege. But both Trump and MAGA are welcome to remember January 6, 2021 when they tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. The gallows and storming of the Capitol were televised live. And although the MSM did not show the supporters that urinated and defecated in the Rotunda, those occurences are fact.
cuts...Local officials instituted destructive and dangerous policy that can be defined as insurrection. Local police are overwhelmed and judges are not doing their job. Portland is part of US not it’s on country
hbde...We live on the waterfront, 3 blocks over from Portland’s ICE facility, and drive past that block several times a week. Until federal “law enforcement” agents began intentionally turning on the peaceful protestors, the area had been extremely quiet and orderly. Chicken Man, the Frog, senior citizens strumming their ukuleles, and juggling unicyclers -amongst others- were the complete opposite of a “war-ravaged” city.
19pi...No, it's a power grab. Trying to instill fear in the public.
dmis...The question was softened, and should have read "Do you believe the violent protests at the Portland ICE facility justified a National Guard presence?". Peaceful, lawful, protest do not justify National Guard presence, these are not peaceful. Even when local police to intervene they do not have the man-power so they are overwhelmed.
blue...The protests were not “mostly peaceful” as described by the media. The destruction of property and disruption of business in the downtown area made it dangerous for residents (tax-paying citizens) to enjoy the quality of life there. The leadership in Portland clearly will not go up against the progressive right, for reasons I cannot understand. Chicago is the same. It appears they gain power through chaos and Trump endangers that ill-gotten power.
mr.h...We are heading back in time to resemble Nazi Germany.
rich...Trump power play to stain reputation of democratic cities
fran...They were all very peaceful, while MAGA instigators tried to cause a negative response...thank god, the protestors kept their cool...this happened in early Nazi Germany when the brown shirts used force to stop peaceful dissent.
priv...ICE is following the law which Congress passes. These Democrats are the ones that passed these laws. They are just making the base all crazy so they gain political power. Wake up!!! Yes if the Portland ICE facility or any agents are in danger from crazy Antifa people then the national guard should go there.
geor...Obviously needed.
lynn...I think it is absolutely ridiculous to activate the national guard (pulling them away from their regular employment) and forcing them to do this assault against their own people and then to have their finances delayed or not provided because of the government shutdown.
jmla...Trump has adulterated everything he has come in contact with and especially the judiciary.
jani...I grew up in Portland when it was a safe, wonderful city, in the 1960s. What has happened to it is a disgrace and a great sadness.
lara...It is total authoritarian bullying using the national guard against the citizens exercising their first amendment right to protest. Dancing protestors in inflatable costumes are not a threat.
mack...It's so sad that we are now living in the equivalent of 1930's and 40's Germany. I'm 82 years old and never thought I would see the destruction of our American democracy
doct...I find it hard to believe that anyone could think this. But it is a testimony to partisanship and listening to disinformation. Mindless beyond words
ther...Portland is a disgusting place. Trump is cleaning up these cities despite the leftist propaganda machine.
ocds...And speaking of protests....not a single mention of the NoKings protests this weekend? That was the lead on 1440. Only 7 million people marched....so I guess not newsworthy to y'all?
lisa...Felon making more bad decisions. They need to release the Epstein files.
patc...Federal government overreach x10. Who are the R.I.N.O.s again?
pace...They're executing the laws Congress passed. Why would a country want criminals from a foreign country. Give me a break
gpcl...Portland needs a complete reset
lind...tRump will use ANY flimsy excuse to work towards declaring martial law so he can invoke SUPREME power. IMPEACH this lunatic!!!!!!
airm...Protests and property damage should all result in arrests!
nanc...Keep the National Guard for real emergencies. Chicago, DC, LA, and Portland are not real emergencies. They’re just blue cities that trump wants to put under his thumb and control.
janv...In any state - red or blue/socialist - the state National Guard should guard the citizens from crime and protect citizens and property from harm. If the state government can/will not keep law and order, the next step is not only needed but required.
kvas...What are we to call our President these days? Czar Donnie? Beloved Leader Donnie? Whatever we call him, he is an aggressor determined to kill free speech in America. Of course the protests did not justify a National Guard presence. You only believe they did justify it if you have given up your thinking ability and blindly follow your Beloved Leader.
rona...Mercy to the Guilty is cruelty to the innocent
usct...ICE is able to protect itself. Sending in the National Guard is an authoritarian move, an attempt to intimidate and to provoke. Trump wants an excuse to initiate the Insurrection Act. We may all need to plan for a national strike to resist this act. A national strike that will require us all to stock up on necessities and save a little money.
walk...Really, with local law enforcement refusing to protect federal buildings and workers. Really?
reds...The governor of that city or state should be able to say no we don’t want your help
kelt...these are antifa rioters, not peaceful liberal grandmothers
laur...These are people whose parents used timeout instead of spanking. They learned no self control and it’s ok to act out violently with no consequences.
grac...Another criminal action by the GOP using false claims and testimony
jeff...Absolutely not needed!!
caro...the protests are not significantly disrupting anything. There’s no major danger or threat.
step...My son lives in Portland. He says there is no evidence of violent protests. On the contrary, protestors make every effort to be nonviolent.
tree...Stop the fighting..
twin...HELL NO!!!! trump is a chump and is misusing his presidential status to create chaos in democratic states. He is a CANCER and his republican buddies will soon be deserting his raping of this country!!!
hine...Local police couldn’t control them and also do their job so other federal enforcement is needed.
lagh...This is clearly Trump's attempted take over of Democratic cities !
tpom...The protest could’ve easily been managed by the local police and state police. It did not require federal forces.
degg...ICE agents masked are attacking residents and citizens
debb...Horrible
msol...Local police should be able to handle any disruptions. The National Guard's presence just escalates the conflict and leads to federal government intervention against the wishes of local government.
rmcl...Local police were not protecting Federal employees or property.
larr...ICE should be able to do their job.
wspa...Can’t have our country run by a King!!!
koad...Win after win after win.
jc44...Troops are not needed to arrest and protect people from unicorns and frogs
jsp5...I visit my family in Portland and there is no need for the National Guard. When was the last time our President was there and not making up lies.
naut...Trump is trampling on the Constitution. He is over reaching his authority. I have family who live in Portland and they say it is not what Trump describes and as a matter of fact they say it is the best it has been in a long time until Trump started this reign of terror .
stcr...This is a anti-Trump website!!!! Definitely note objective
csbr...7 million people just marched and protested against Trump.
rsto...Lawlessness has been tolerated for far too long. My understanding is that these NG troops are there solely to defend federal assets as well as federal law enforcement.

mike...Interestingly, my impact was this morning, not yesterday. This morning none of my Roku or Alexa devices were connecting to the internet. We'll see if they are back online when I get home.
atli...Amazon disruption
tpom...I was unable to use Venmo to make payments and I wanted to verify my seat assignment on Delta, but my Delta app did not work.
csbr...Just wait until the system gets hacked.
naom...Venmo was down
sand...I couldn’t get into Venmo.
geor...I wasn’t aware of any problems affecting me - just what the media reported. But it is certainly scary that so much equipment was affected for such a long period of time.
cmhi...Cancelled Accounts😁
abdz...Problems with Amazon.
star...Opens my eyes to our dependency and vulnerability.
crai...Ring was out
cand...I did have trouble getting an order in on Amazon but it wasn't something that really affected me and my Internet was "spotty" for a little bit but again nothing that really affected my day.
budd...Ring and Alexa’s.
bnig...I do NOT use Amazon or any of it's related services
edwa...Some people are finding out that Amazon has been the lead of the data center game, knew about this from a decade and probably through last week tonight lol

Do you believe the $8.5 billion investment in rare earths mining will meaningfully reduce dependence on China within the next decade?

  • 54% Yes
  • 26% No
  • 20% Unsure

mdul...It can't and won't remove all dependency on China but it is a start and should reduce at least in part the large trump card (yes, pun intended) that China has held.
atli...Looks like rare earth minerals are the new excuse for threatening war in place of the declining importance of oil as the new US addiction.
jlcg...Yes...if it goes through in full
rsto...As a nation it is critical that we reduce dependence on other nations to supply us with commodities that are critical to our defense and our economy.
hine...Every little bit of decreasing dependence is meaningful.
mend...Don’t know if this amount will make a difference or not, but I do know we need to start becoming independent on rare earth
pete...It’s a drop in the ocean and more a gesture than anything meaningful.
geor...It would be nice if it works and Trump doesn’t change his mind, but the timeframe involved to get the mining rolling may be the problem. If it all works, this could help the US and Australia generate more rare earth minerals in the near future.
kelt...Even though it would mean being partners with a communist country lie Australia, it would be better than depending on China
crai...Great start, sends a powerful message to China

Should the US provide financial support to countries like Argentina despite their history of economic instability?

jjai...This is not about helping a country; this is about helping Trump's right wing buddy. The $20B is equivalent to what it would cost to reverse the Medicaid cuts annually in the OBBB.
stew...If we don’t China will.
crai...Trump's $40B support of Argentina was to bailout his billionaire friends who invested in their Libertarian dream. They are losing their shirts. Now Trump will lose the US Taxpayer's money as well. Meanwhile, he cut $40B of USAID that increased USA soft-power across the globe.
ambl...I can see giving countries financial support for financial or humanitarian reasons, but this one appears to be mostly politically motivated. Trump couldn't care less about Argentine people or society, he just likes their corrupt president.
lind...I don't even have the words to acknowledge yet another self-interest move of tRump!!!!!!!
priv...All the no answers, answer this question. What is the difference between this and US Aid going to corrupt political powers?
geor...There is no befit to the US - only to Trump’s friends - and maybe his family - who foolishly invested in Argentina. And it is clearly an attempt to get the right-wing President re-elected as Trump is saying they get the funds only if President Milei is elected.
nanc...It’s a fool’s (trump administration) bet.
toni...We have people in our country that need healthcare and support. Help them!
jlcg...That's the role of the IMF, which should not be backstabbed if it is to remain credible ...and available, for other situations.
atli...Another demonstration of Trump's failed economic policy which closely resemble those of Argentina. Nothing good will come of this.
mdul...This is purely Trump using his weaponized government to satisfy hos whims. If you say you're Pro-Trump and pay the necessary homage, you get rewarded (Argentina). If you disagree with Trump, you get punished (Colombia). Help me remember - how is this putting America first?

Should the risk of severe side effects (like anemia and higher death rates) be accepted if a treatment significantly delays prostate cancer progression?

  • 41% Yes
  • 37% Unsure
  • 23% No

suet...It should be up to the patient being treated to weigh the options of taking the treatment or not. It is their life that will be affected by the side effects or death and they may not want to live their life with the side effects
atli...I will trust the science unless their is an MBA or Trump appointee involved any portion of the decision making
rmcl...Depends on age of the patient. An older person let’s say above 80 should avoid radiation because of its side effects. Prostate cancer is usually a very slow moving death so why give up your lifestyle in your final years. For a young person it is well worth the risk.
nrpe...More likely to die from the treatment than the cancer. There’s safer ways.
nanc...It’s up to the patient to weigh the pros and cons.
ambl...Yes, in certain patients deemed good candidates, IF closely supervised and adjusted or discontinued as necessary. No, if any of the above is ignored.

Should consumers avoid plant-based protein powders altogether due to higher lead levels?

  • 72% Yes
  • 19% Depends
  • 9% No

nanc...If there are other options, why not?
sjos...I need plant-based protein powder to live. This is bad news, but now that I know what I'd rather have happen is more info on which brands are better, not be told to give up something I literally depend upon.
atli...Since scientists are given little authority to implement restrictions based on their research, then we are left with only voting with our pocket books.
mdul...Until the source of the contamination can be clearly determined and controls in place to reduce lead levels, they should be avoided.
rob_...Unsafe for health
