Just facts, you think for yourself

Should states be allowed to redraw congressional maps mid-decade (before the usual 10-year census cycle)?

  • 88% No
  • 12% Yes

EmailComments
jenn...Our votes should not be weaponized or used as used as political pawn pieces.
rich...It becomes more based on politics to lean towards a party.
kold...These redistrictings are not because of changes in population. They are attacks on voting rights by a fascist party.
elwi...If there is no overall Federal prohibition of gerrymanderibg
rtet...No they should not be allowed to redraw the maps early. But when the sitting US President "persuades" states that supported him to redraw the congressional maps to disenfranchise minority voters he's made it acceptable. After all, contrary to GOP and MAGA delusions, most Blacks and Latinos don't vote for the party that wants them dead or deported. 3 GOP states (Texas, Missouri and North Carolina) have already complied with Trump's demand. Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Kansas and Nebraska are in the process of gifting Democratic votes to the GOP. 8 states out of 50 redrawing their maps 5 years before the next census. The votes in 16% of congressional districts will be tainted. That's why California is voting on redistricting. The Dems usually bring knives to gunfights, but this time they are playing by the same rules as the GOP. And that's why MAGA is angry.
crai...The continuing mass exodus from blue states is not waiting for a 10 year cycle.
doct...Unfortunately, like always, this starts with Republicans doing their best to undermine democracy. I understand why the Democrats are not simply letting it go. But, Republicans ARE the problem. The examples never stop
aunt...If there's something wrong and it's constitutional to bring up the issue at that time, then its ok to do so. This is why we have the Supreme Court...The final arbiter of legal and constitutional arguments
kfer...It sets precedent that redistricting can be done at any time. These redistricting actions are being based on registered political affiliation, not geological locations.
cger...Democrats are adept at cheating by redistricting. They are adept at cheating and stealing in general.
lisa...Stop stalling bootlicker Johnson, swear her in and release the TrumpStein Files. 🆘🇺🇸
priv...This is a terribly worded question. We should all be against how they draw the lines. It should be a simple square so people in the area are properly represented by that one person. Not some crazy line that extends into other neighborhoods. The Democrats started this craziness years ago and it should stop.
dela...The pandemic was a one off. The census was not done properly
lsko...Texas should not have begun this redrawing frenzy.
dave...It’s simply cheating by any other name!
scor...The policy of how maps are drawn and the timing should be more consistent state-to-state and should be nonpartisan
fppa...Newsom tried to politely ask Abbott and Trump to stop the Gerrymandering before having to put Prop 50 on the ballot.
shoe...No it's an attempt to disenfranchise portions of the population in order to swing control of congress.
tang...It should be illegal to re-draw maps for the sole purpose of voter suppression. Less representation for the voters, the system is awful.
mrse...Partisan redistricting leads to non competitive races that favor the more extremist candidate that leads to more Congressional dysfunction
eric...My answer would have been no till Texas decided to play dirty. Now, gloves off and race to the bottom.
fari...Do it after 2026 election
vick...This is completely within the guidelines of the 10th Amendment. State can change congressional maps WHENEVER they chose not just at mid-decade or at the census. The 2020 census data was intentional mishandled and needs to be appropriately adjusted.
toma...Stop cheating
greg...Gerrymandering is the world's second oldest profession. Democrats are all in a twist over Texas redrawing the lines of its congressional districts, but Democrats in blue states have gerrymandering the life out of their states. In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom maintains that Prop. 50 to eliminate up to five Republican-leaning districts is being done to "protect democracy" (their favorite sham battle cry every time they threaten democracy), but what it is is two things: an effort to disenfranchise Republican voters in five congressional districts now represented by Republican Representatives, cutting GOP representation in CA's congressional delegate to the very bone; and secondly, a grotesque effort by Newsom to promote his Presidential run in 2028 by showing national Democrats that he knows how to stick it to Republicans.
mwil...Unless there is forced immigration movement, populations don’t shift fast enough to warrant redrawing voting districts. This is a sham. Blatant election rigging.
iren...it encouraged gerrymandering and corruption.
mdul...The fact that they should not be allowed to redraw maps other than on the 10-year census cycle is clear. However, Trump has also made clear since the start of his political career that laws do not apply to him, nor do the ethical behaviors normally expected of a POTUS. Republicans seem to agree with Trump when he says that he knows it's not allowed but he's able to do it, so he will. However, recognize that off cycle redistricting is opening a Pandora's box better left closed. Blue states have mostly tried to put in place non-partisan or bipartisan committees to draw district maps whereas red states have largely tried to put that power into the legislatures. Now that this box has been opened, it would make sense for blue states to replicate the partisan bias in place with red states. With that kind of parity then enabled, we should next expect to see redistricting weeks before an election to try to squeeze every seat possible in light of local polling. This is why redistricting is supposed to be done outside the legislatures and only on the 10-year cycle.
crai...Districts should be drawn by citizen commissions. Voters choose representatives, not the other way around.
hoos...And somehow we need to ensure truly non-partisan groups manage authentic redistributing efforts! I’m over this gerrymandering nonsense, on both sides!!
rose...Shameful
dmis...The way it is being done.. no. however the last census should be legally challenged as void since millions in the US illegally were allowed to be counted which resulted in improper redistricting.
debb...Stop playing games and do the job you were hired to do whether you are a Democrat or that other party
alle...We are losing our democracy where everyone counts . Not just the people in power who do anything they want to stay in power . Why do the Republicans follow a leader who has no respect for the law and Constitution?
edan...Gerrymandering should not be allowed.
tubi...republicans cant win without cheating. all the accusations against the democrats were admissions of guilt and its showing.
regi...Because our president ORDERED some states to mess with congressional maps, California approached redistricting in a legal way by putting it up for a vote.
pion...Redistricting along party lines, rather than shared local issues, is the undoing of a representive republic.
byro...New England states need to redraw them to include Republican seats. They way theirs are drawn today, there are zero “red” seats.
ocds...Orange cheater is the cause per usual.
atli...I never thought that I would live in a one party autocratic country. But MAGA is successfully destroying what little democracy once existed.
rose...Democrats had no problem doing the exact same thing.
chdi...Does not represent the district. Basically cheating the American people while diminishing their vote
wats...Per the Constitution
4tam...There should be strict federal guidelines which each state follows.
jeff...Absurd!!
sjoe...If 90% of the population disagree with this tactic and they still proceed then it is clear we need new representation!
pjpa...Dems have spent 70 years redistricting & diluting republicans representation in blue states by 30-90%
sean... Not by the legislative process. Voters should have that right to decide.
9812...Redrawing costs money. The state gets money from taxpayers Taxpayers don’t want to pay twice
cand...The congressional maps should remain until the 10 year census is completed and a need for change is proven.
john...when will it stop? There will be changes every 2 years if this continues.
nanc...It’s shameful how trump is forcing these states to redraw and how they are all capitulating to him.
lind...
usct...This is a Trump attempt to stack the deck in the 2026 midterms.
vevi...I agree with the no's but voted yes on prop 50 in CA. If other states are redrawing maps to 'cheat' and gain an advantage, (unfortunately) I don't think taking the moral high ground is reasonable any longer. We fight.
rhar...It will become chaotic as each party attempts to gain an edge over the other.
cqsj...Too much opportunity for gerrymandering.

SShould the next Fed Chair prioritize market stability or inflation control as the primary goal?

  • 70% Inflation control
  • 30% Market stability

EmailComments
dpwo...Inflation hurts everyone especially those on a fixed income.
vick...Inflation control is within monetary policy control, tinkering with the market is borderline socialism.
jlti...There is no market stability without inflation control!
jepu...The Market must remain a "free market" and is not the responsibility of the Fed. However, along with maximum employment, inflation control is a congressionally-mandated objective.
cger...The FED is powerless to stop this runaway inflation. Historically, inflation has been driven by consumer spending, so raising and lowering interest rates worked. This inflation is driven by FEDERAL SPENDING!!! All bets are off. raising interest rates only makes the federal government more expensive. $37T in debt and Democrats don't care, because the WANT America to fail.
mdul...The dual roles of the Fed make this a very challenging role. That has been made even more difficult as a result of Trump's attempts to take control of the Fed and its decision process. Whoever does take over will have pledged his loyalty to Trump personally and not to the role and the people. I expect to see much less rigorous analysis and cogent decision making from the Fed after JPow is gone.
rick...Since when is market stability part of the Fed's dual mandate. The choices are inflation control and full employment.
crai...Trump’s stagflation is a challenge; but we need to control inflation first.

Do you think Qualcomm’s entry into AI data center chips will significantly disrupt Nvidia’s dominance?

Is Amazon’s massive corporate layoff primarily a necessary business adjustment or a sign of deeper organizational problems?

  • 54% Necessary adjustment
  • 25% Sign of deeper problems
  • 21% Not sure

EmailComments
jepu...Corporations have become much too top heavy. We were overdue for a correction to the system. AI has given corporations the necessary impetus to make those corrections.
bnig...I rarely use Amazon or any of it's services. I don't like that it's utilizing so many robots and displacing good paying JOBS!
perm...Necessary due to increased utilization of AI. AI is going to negatively affect thousands of jobs, taking the place of people who need income and benefits. The shift needs to be toward jobs which cannot be usurped by AI, such as skilled labor including plumbers, electricians, mechanics, etc. AI is a tremendous tool for engineering, science and medicine, but detrimental to the overall jobs market.
nanc...It may be a necessary adjustment, but Amazon has lost its grip on the market lately. They have more competition and have not been able to promise quick delivery. I’m sure tariffs are not helping.
bfph...If automation improves operations, reducing workforce is appropriate

Blocking enzymes like PDIA1 and PDIA5 may harm healthy cells as well as cancer cells. Should treatment risks be minimized even if it means slower cancer therapy advances?

  • 61% Yes
  • 39% No

EmailComments
jree...Anticancer therapies are inherently toxic since their target is situated in and among normal cells. Cancer cells share many characteristics with normal cells, from which they are derived. It’s better to focus on creating effective cancer drugs, then work to mitigate or eliminate side effects. Platinum drugs, taxanes, and others, when initially studied, had side effects which would be unacceptable today. They are now used commonly with excellent tolerance when appropriate medications and techniques are used with them. These were developed by research and experience
marc...If someone is soon to die of the disease's natural course, eliminate therapy restrictions if the patient desires. This approach was vital to advancing treatment of childhood leukemia decades ago.
powe...I live with stage 4 PC. Diagnosed 9 years ago. Any treatment advances help the cause for continue survival
dmma...harming healthy cells is what chemotherapy does too.
9812...Having prostate cancer I can say take the risk. Supposedly about 1/3 of males will have prostate cancer. I have a good friend and a brother who were killed by this disease. I have it but so far…
