Just facts, you think for yourself

  • 37% Not optimistic at all
  • 12% Other

ryan...The US is going to simply crawl back to near Biden era terms yet the administration will claim a victory over China. All while our name and integrity has been compromised in the global stage and other countries will replace the US as they are more stable trade partners. This will be a net loss for America and It will be a business case for weak negotiations for decades to come.
mdul...It has always been clear that some agreement will come from Trump's trade war but the more pertinent question is whether America will be better off at the end of it. The diminution of America's brand in the world will not soon, if ever, be reversed and the world is taking steps now to deal around the US rather than through it. There will be a China deal, of course, but we will have paid the price.
atli...Of course lowering or entirely removing tariffs is beneficial but doing so through extortion will have long term negative effects unless we replace the current administration with a sane one.
bdh2...The entire episode is just more Trump Reality TV. No way to run a railroad…
scot...China lies, cheats and steals.
jdlc...The fundament structural problems will not be resolved.
dste...Trump administration has shown that it is clueless as to what the real world impact of tariffs is.
alic...Basically, all this upheaval to get back to 0?
lesl...China tariffs to US went to 30
blow...The US President is an infant and geopolitics is his rattle, I cannot help but horse laugh
laur...Friggin GROW UP & recognize you live in a Fascist state! Spend our donations on TV ads @ the horrific abuses, instead of lame House campaigns that won't change the corrupt Senate or Supreme Court.
cmic...Trump blinked. Time will tell how this plays out.
doct...China cannot survive more than a couple of weeks without the enormous economic input from theUnited States, which is an economic powerhouse compared to their economy, which has lots of people, but not anywhere near the purchasing power of Americans. Because pt this, they will agree to a new pro-America fair trade del!
robs...More details needed, and it's worth emphasizing that the CCP cannot be trusted, and has never followed through on anything they have agreed to in their brief, temporary existence. This reveals that they badly need a deal ... even more than the US.
pjpa...Trump hit China right at their weakest point, layoffs, they’re infusing money into their economy & protesting in the streets
msyk...All of these “deals” are leaving the US worse off than when the trade wars started.
leet...more interested in understanding the net impact of this tariff mess in the first place. What has the USA gained (or lost) in all this tariff confusion, uncertainty and related implementation cost?
jan....It’s still in flux. Still uncertain
greg...Somewhat optimistic
sims...We’ll see I believe trump wants 10% Tariffs as a means to create revenues for the government. Basically it’s a 10% sales tax on the American consumer. Hopefully people understand that
cb10...What a joke. The ridiculousness of the tariff situation is absurd. It didn’t need to happen in the first place. What a chaotic mess.
jrv1...Scott Bessent is consistent and steady. Doubters have missed market opportunity
nick...It’s amazing how people’s tones are changing since other countries have started negotiating these tariffs. In the long run it’s going to pay off huge for the US.
jeff...Indiscriminately imposing high tariffs and then lowering them. Is that a “victory,” or just blatant manipulation.
kold...We have yet to see the impact of all of these tariffs. I think it's still coming.
cmar...So basically after all Trump’s huffing and puffing he’s giving in to the Chinese, but will still treat our neighbors like crap. Weird.
crai...At this point there is virtually no choice for both countries and more importantly for both leaders. President Trump seems committed to winning for US citizens.
elli...Trump waffles too much. Has no idea what he is doing.
ldew...Unsure, Trump is not to be trusted and acts irresponsibly and has very poor advisors.
rtet...Trump is wrong. Tariffs are paid by consumers. The 90 day pause is just a temporary fix. Trump needs to call off his pyrrhic trade war. Uncertainty is not good for the economy.
cfuh...Trump is 100% performative theater and zero skilled in long term managed negotiation. I would not trust anything coming out of his mouth and unfortunately don’t have much trust in China either. Both countries have become bad faith actors.
mich...The whole tariff kerfuffle is a self inflicted wound to the US for electing a clown.
nanc...The imposition of such high tariffs with China has already begun a chain of events that will be hard to offset at this point. If they could hammer out a deal that would be solid soon, it would help. A 90 day suspension will only make it tougher for small businesses.
pegg...Depends on what chaos the Tangerine Tyrant needs at the moment. This is NOT normal!
anne...Feels like temporary relief until next time our president decides to revive the tariffs.
srcl...Who knows what this administration will do...one day it's 145 now it's 10...excuse me!!!
rbrt...Trump’s unpredictability makes it difficult to be optimistic
sopa...Trump's tariffs are on american. Are on american people and on american business. So, they can't remain.
ca.c...Don't trust Trump
mark...Uncertainty will continue to wreak havoc, and I feel that uncertainty breeds more uncertainty.
lora...Trump will get it done. The democrats talk a big game but do nothing since they sold themselves and the American people out to China.
ham3...Optimistic, but the trade between all countries needs to truly be free trade without deficit to the US

Do you believe that the release of Edan Alexander will lead to a significant change in the Israel-Gaza conflict?

  • 82% No, it is just a temporary measure
  • 18% Yes, it opens the door for further negotiations

EmailComments
tubi...israel has its eyes on the area and nobody is willing to stop them from killing everyone there to have it.
lora...The war will not end until Hamas is removed from Gaza. Trump will also put pressure on Iran to stop funding the war.
sara...It's repellent to see one person freed because he is connected to the US, while the other hostages are left behind, and while tens of thousands of innocent Gaza residents are slaughtered.
nanc...Hard to see an end to this terrible situation, sadly.
atli...If Netanyahu doesn't like it and the US stops supporting Israel then it shows promise.
tomp...Both Hamas and Israel are never going to peacefully coexist.
mdul...I think Netanyahu has made clear that the total elimination of Hamas is his primary goal and he no longer wants to allow any militias or other paramilitary organizations to have a perch near Israel. The release of Edan Alexander is long overdue and imperative, but I think it most unlikely that Israel will cease to press to conclusion the advantage that it currently enjoys.
nath...It doesn’t substantially change any core Hamas position

Do you believe that the ceasefire will hold in the long term?

  • 77% No, it is likely to break down again
  • 23% Yes, there is hope for lasting peace

EmailComments
zack...It seems to be clear from this administration that ANY nation looking to start a new war will suffer great economic impact. Both of “Biden” wars are closing down as well. Peace through strength aka Orange Man Bad
echo...Conflicts have happened between these two countries for years, it hardly makes our news. Until the root issues are dealt with, any bandaids applied won't stop the fighting for long.
jan....It just HAS to stop.
lora...Trump will cut some trade deals for both countries which will maintain peace.
mdul...The question here becomes what you mean by "long term". The conflict over Kashmir started in 1947 and won't end any time soon.
atli...Once again religious hatred will bring continued death.

Should Oregon prioritize economic development from lithium mining over environmental protections?

  • 58% Yes, economic development is more important
  • 42% No, environmental protections should take precedence

EmailComments
tubi...oregon needs more economic opportunities.
edc....Must be a legitimate mining company and not a speculating company out of Canada.
jan....It’s Oregon. Environment first.
ham3...Im economically inclined but believe it should be mined as environmentally safe as possible.
jcbr...Protect our lands
bria...We’ve seen how the effects of these things harm our environment. There needs to be safekeeping of the Earth and life while we’re here. Besides…the money isn’t going to trickle down to Oregonians, let’s be forreal.
jule...One more time profits over people. With the dismantling of the EPA we can expect the billionaires to take the profits poison the land and leave the taxpayers to clean it up. Will the lithium go to china? Do we make batteries here that would create jobs? Probably not so public lands profit private industry
tede...Lucky we discovered this. China has most of this. Good luck USA
rhal...Development with protections, we should be advanced enough to do this, right?
miah...20 years from now - when your child needs to get away from the constant maddening noise - maybe they can just create a hologram of what Oregon use to look like.
rgar...There should and need to be options explored and implemented to mine and protect the environment. The answered can't be to depend on China.
sara...Ordinarily I am a strong advocate for environmental protection, but in this case 1) the source is an extinct volcano- it's not as though they will be destroying untouched forestland it grasslands, 2) lithium is a huge contributor to much technology that can help reduce climate impacts, and 3) desire for minerals like this is motivating bellicose moves by world powers - better to mine our own
bett...They should make a plan for the domestic use and consider being conservative in exports to slow down the impact on the environment.
lora...Oregon needs to get on board to help the American people vs chasing their idiotic environmental crusade which will make no difference in Oregon.
akha...C'mon, it's not black and white. It shouldn't be. Otherwise we're stuck with a nonsensical proposition that our choice is one between either ZERO development at all VS an unhinged development DEVOID of ANY environmental guardrails. Why do we keep framing important matters in the extreme and in so flaming a divide that's already weakened our nation, instead of walking back from the edge and notching a win-win, somewhere in a reasonable center.
zack...40% strangely don’t understand that buying slave mined Lithium from China isn’t a good business model.
scot...Times are tough.
cb10...Don’t know enough about this
robs...The question should actually read ... "Should Oregon prioritize development from lithium mining needed primary for electric vehicles to protect the world's climate over Oregon environmental protections?"

Have you or someone you know used weight loss medications?

  • 61% Yes
  • 39% No

EmailComments
fiwi...I am on Zepbound for 4 months and have lost 20 pounds or 8%.
mdul...Even when friends might not acknowledge using weight loss medications, seeing someone who has struggled with weight over decades of my knowing them who suddenly is able to drop 50+ pounds clearly highlights the use of such medications.
lora...This should not be allowed. People just need to stop eating fast food and sitting on the couch.
zack...I know several people that have had side effects too. These drugs will bankrupt our healthcare systems if the massive lobby bribes them into Medicaid/Care
elli...They need to be more affordable!!!!!!
nanc...They are a great tool for people with diabetes. Not sure about taking them just to lose weight, as it sounds like they will have to be taken permanently to keep the weight off.

Should future treatments for hypertension focus more on hormonal regulation, like with lorundrostat, or stick to traditional methods?

  • 73% Focus on hormonal regulation.
  • 27% Stick to traditional methods.

EmailComments
atli...We need to complete the study before jumping to conclusions
zack...The traditional method of diet and exercise is by far the best medicine. Too bad our health care industrial complex can’t make massive money off of this method
