Just facts, you think for yourself

Do you think anti-government extremism poses a greater threat than foreign-terrorism-inspired plots within the U.S.?

  • 65% Yes
  • 35% No

bjef...The home-grown terrorists feel they're linked to the larger picture and feed off the propaganda. It's mostly home grown terrorists who strike here, of course, but they motivation and what they follow isn't always home-grown. But then, a lot of the terrorism in the US right now is against peaceful people by our own government.
davi...From MAGA
chri...Yes Trump and far right antigovernment extremism
lawr...We have to practice what we preach. Non-violent protests only.
rblo...We have focused more on foreign enemies and ignored those who are home grown.
sher...The question is misleading as this was not anti- government extremism.
sara...I think right wing extremism poses a huge threat in the united States, but at the moment such extremism is aligned with the federal government's oligarchic and unconstitutional actions. I think our country is extremely poorly protected against foreign espionage with the clown car of idiots the Trump administration has put in charge of FBI, BSA and DOD. But the crazed and often mentally ill "warriors " of the right wing extremist movement in the US frighten me more.
stuc...Both of these pose significant risk. The risk from either is equal.
perm...Both are on the rise and are actually equally threatening, though an “equal” choice was not offered.
sgan...They are both intertwined
reba...Yes, Democrats are worse than foreign threats.
bret...Anti government and government terrorism both pose extreme threats to the American way of life. Sending national guard into cities and having violent ICE raids on innocent hard working people is advancing the US towards a dictatorship. Citizens taking action into their own hands could exacerbate the facist government response as well as push moderate voters into supporting candidates who approve of the facism currently being carried out. Peaceful opposition is required to end government overreach.
shie...We have more internal maniacs than ever
tomm...The extreme left is violent and hates everyone that disagrees with them
cele...The FBI needs to increase focus on Right Wing groups rather than only on what they perceive as anti-fascist groups
frit...The US government on both sides of the aisle is nothing more than a puppet institution for the billionaire class. If you look at the AIPAC situation, where we have US Congressional Reps pledging alegiance to Israel, and accepting large amounts of foreign monies, in conjunction with a compromised SCOTUS, it's a complete sham Government.
caro...Looking at us from outside stateside and reading and watching international news one cannot but think “what have we done to ourselves “. We have lost prestige and friends across the world and like the empires clothes we may never be respected again
more...Even more so n that with the current administration, the right wing is seen as "benevolent'. They are at the moment concentrating on a mythical organisation, "antifa". The FBI can't even define it, much less point it out as an organisational structure.
rmen...some US based plots may be foreign inspired and financed
isth...Half the country is against the other half of the country… one wants to be correct at all cost. Let us not …. Handmaids Tale…Holocaust…
kakr...Rate of incidence tells us what the facts are
cger...I think the Progressive Leftist Democrats pose THE GREATEST threat to America. They opened the border to MILLIONS of unvetted illegal aliens. If only 10% mean America harm, that at least a million of invading criminals to cause chaos and anarchy in America.
dano...Anti government is how the US was founded. The fact over 1/4 think that’s more dangerous than foreign terrorists says all you need to know about the ideological capture at our institutions and now young adults/rich white boomer.
kvas..."Anti-government extremism?" How about any extremism? They are all threats and should be addressed.
jenl...This has been the case since beginning of American history. Dang that's how America was formed - revolt against govt (British) then. Fortunately those revolutionaries were "good baddies" and rose to become honorable leaders. Who knows about now. And who knows about honorable leaders. The inability to be self-aware and the ability to blame other people, makes a sad combination that jeopardizes the fabric of American wealth and health.

Is it acceptable for a company to maintain partnerships that produce a high volume of violating ads if it brings substantial revenue?

  • 96% No
  • 3% Yes
  • 1% Not Sure

EmailComments
mejo...Shame on Zuckerberg, how many billions do you and your family need, and at what cost?
sall...Meta should experience negative cnsequences from this!
susa...It's just like the food industry that knows they're killing us but doesn't care because they want to make money. Meda doesn't care they just want to make money. Anybody that scrolls Facebook knows that it is swarming with fake ads. You just have to do your research before you purchase anything. There are plenty of counter websites that give honest reviews so you know not to waste your money.
robi...It is disgusting that Meta would allow revenue scams.
ctna...Shut them down. Meta ought to be broken up and sold off and the Zuckerberg family jailed for their crimes
elli...FB has ignored ethics and always put revenue first Read Careless People
elan...Its disgusting to knowingly allow any element of fraud in advertising - Its dangerous and costly on every level. Social Media has become weaponized and in my opinion is now as dangerous as a Bioweapon.
brod...Might as well have asked “Is it okay to do wrong if it’s profitable?”
lind...WTF Meta?
gver...The greed factor is at an all-time high in this country and META is just one example of many...
bjef...My mistake, I misread the question. No, it is not acceptable. Americans should respond by cutting ties with Meta. That eliminates the false ads as well. Money talks and if Meta runs out of money, the issue will stop.
rita...Legit ads will lose responses and drop leaving only the frauds. So they will suffer eventually.
mbec...Is it acceptable for our politicians to rake in millions from investments by having access to insider trading, but Joe public goes to jail? There is corruption everywhere, why not at Meta or any business. They are selling out America everyday & the rest of the world will follow. Think we need another flood of biblical proportions.
pman...People should be aware - personal responsibility
wrob...Wrong is wrong and fraud must not be tolerated.
stuc...The companies should do a better job of policing themselves. However, it is our responsibility as consumers to be better aware of potential scams and adjust our purchasing elsewhere.
jjai...This is where the IT oligarchs put money ahead of anything and should be held accountable, maybe being jailed as accessories would send home a message.
akha...Why is this even a surprise? Zuckerberg has been leaving a long trail of questionable morals, disputable ethics, and backstabbing friends since his early days at Harvard. Furthermore there is plenty of public evidence that his nature has continued to ensure questionable practices (algorithms, political censuring, etc...). His shifty nature continues to taint everything he touches. A leopard can not shed his spots neither the Zebra its stripes, what makes anyone believe Zuck will shed his shady side? It's not going to happen. This gifted man has been extraordinarily successful and has achieved riches beyond belief-a money machine that will effectively cushion him from the blows, falls, as well as the mistakes he'll most certainly continue to make going forward. Zuck is a study of extreme contrasts... I do hope he cleans up his act...
ksit...PURE GREED! META IS DISGUSTING!
katl...Zuckerberg is complicit and shoukd be held accountable.
amri...Never expected a young promising leader such Mark Z. having such unethical practices and corporate greed. He is big let down for the next generation of leaders.
avaa...He should be arrested zuckerberg
cger...I have been scammed on Facebook, twice. Fortunately I used PAYPAL and got my money back both times. Never again. Zuckerberg is a Progressive Leftist, so I should not expect anything less. They are such despicable people
jami...We need a law firm to file a class action suit on behalf of meta users for all the harm these companies knowingly commit against us the same way that was done against the cigarette makers decades ago.
dlai...Should be a crime.
pfor...Meta should be treated as complicit in investigations.
dubn...Meta is evil.
tuck...Money is the only thing that matters. It does not matter to them where or how just as long as they make more money
nanc...It’s outrageous what Meta is doing! I’ve stopped using any of their apps.
bret...Companies that fail to protect their users should go out of business. This is also a warning on potential harm of deregulation. Should the government reduce consumer protections in the US, META and others will choose profits over protecting their users. Over regulation is bad but under regulation could be far worse.
bosc...It is unbelievable what Meta has been able to get away with. When will it ever stop?
varl...SO sick of constant fraud
wiki...Its sad they allow their customers to be taken advantage of.
bhad...another reason to get off facebook and never look back!
lm_w...It's also short-sighted. People only need to get scammed once before they decide to never buy from an ad again. They're sewing their own failure.
cynt...It’s frsud
sara...Meta is a company with no compass that tolerates immense harm to it's users to pump up it's fake advertising numbers and ignore the real damage (deaths, torture, wars, abuse) that it's platform has countenanced. Mark Zuckerberg is a sociopathic creep who has terrible ideas and is a hollow creature with no idea how to be human or provide true leadership.
jeth...Great insight…but how do we punish meta for such behavior
hsto...These countries are allowed to operate in this manner because someone benefits greatly- Expose!
sayw...Time to shut down th eoffenders.
pean...Meta/Gacebook is the bane of all social media. Greed breeds more greed.
mona...Just another facet of corporate greed
newb...Time leaders of such companies were behind bars. 20 years for failing to protect children and 10 for allowing scams

Is it appropriate for fintech firms to utilize industrial loan company (ILC) charters to bypass some traditional bank regulations?

  • 77% No
  • 19% Yes
  • 3% Other

EmailComments
moji...There should be a pathway for fintech firms to become banks, but it should still be a way to regulate them appropriately.
edca...Regulate and/or nationalize
gver... .
bjef...If they're providing loans, they should follow the same rules. If what they are doing is similar to what banks do, the regulations should be the same. Otherwise, yet another loophole and someone will be hurt.
omeg...This loophole should be closed.
sara...Hasn't PayPal done enough to ruin the world by empowering Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, David Sacks and their ilk? It should be prevented from further victimizing real people.
bret...Lending institutions should play by the same rules. Regulations should be simplified where possible to ensure small lenders can compete and all can operate efficiently. Regulations should however be sufficient to avoid systemic crises.
jlcg...Why not? It's certainly unnerving for the established financial institutions, but if the regulatory authorities are consistently unable to come-up in a timely manner with a coherent, effective but not coercive set of rules, how should we blame a band of smart buccaneers to be disruptive? Economic conditions, technology and markets behaviors evolve all the time. Who is supposed to be in charge of adjusting regulations accordingly?
sayw...This type of stuff is why Glass-Steagall needs to be re-legislated along with Citizens United.
tere...Epstein people, laws and regulations do not apply to restrict them, but heaven help a competitor who infringes on their profits, immediate court access.
nanc...Not a fan of PayPal. Their security is too lax. I wouldn’t have a lot of confidence in this new scheme. Those regulations are there for a reason. The banking crisis beginning in 2008 isn’t that long ago.
cger...Banking and fees are where the money is at.

Do you think AI-generated Disney character content will enhance or diminish the magic of the original stories?

  • 64% Diminish
  • 36% Enhance

EmailComments
cger...More exposure is good for Disney, especially for all the bad they do like promoting dishonest corporate media like ABC and Jimmy Kimmel
grov...Sad.
moji...Not because AI will support it, but mostly because people will flock to original non-AI work now. So as Disney leans into AI slop, original IP will become more valuable.
sirm...Disney entertainment has no choice but to embrace AI and control new and enhanced Disney make believe.
jjai...It won't be long before there are political AND porn cartoon characters made available. That will surely diminish their value and credibility.
henr...AI can't replace the human originality and emotional warmth which the early Disney Teams were able to produce.
bjef...With AI, everything will be cheapened, just like man-made diamonds and the magic of how Disney brought them to life will be lost.

Do you believe AI-based genetic diagnosis could lead to over-reliance on technology at the expense of clinical experience?

  • 62% Yes
  • 38% No

EmailComments
bjef...Someone has to have the training to accurately enter the findings of physical examination and observation. AI has a ways to go and the fact that we soon will know all the potential fatal illnesses or diseases that can kill us when we are born will take the awake the magic of our first 50 years when most of us have few significant problems. Garbage in, garbage out.
spro...I trust a complete data base with analytics over one persons opinion
sara...I think this sort of high volume throughout and analysis is the primary benefit of AI. Stop trying to make sentient robots with general intelligence and use AI to crunch big data like this, climate crisis interventions and other things that it can do BETTER than humans at scale.
wmes...Of course it could lead to over-reliance but that’s not what most of the passage discussed.
mkir...Faster and better.
kvas...Artificial intelligence is not intelligence. It's just computer programming. Garbage in, garbage out. I'll stick with human brains considering my medical needs for the time being.
jenl...Literally just experienced this - relied on simulation for kid's braces and got stuck with ineffective treatment, 5 months wasted and worse, palate bone structure altered possibly causing too-much-space problem for new treatment.

How urgent do you consider the problem of microplastics released from everyday household laundry?

  • 54% Extremely urgent
  • 38% Somewhat urgent
  • 7% Not urgent

EmailComments
kgra...Humans need a clean water cycle for laundry and for all circulated water required for basic human needs.
cica...We have a lot of urgent issues facing us. This is a start. Hopefully it will prove to be successful and will be quickly implemented.
bjef...Compared to the mounds of trash we make yearly because we just can't stop using plastic, it's small. And, of course, the pellets of plastic in a landfill will eventually break down again. The key is degradable plastic.
mkir...We are poisoning our planet
nanc...Microplastics are everywhere and continue to grow. This sounds like a great innovation.
sara...There are more urgent environmental issues - especially since despite their presence in environmental media and in animals we don't yet see extreme harm occurring. Inventions like this one are very important and should be deployed at scale, but we have more critical issues that must not be slighted.
