Just facts, you think for yourself

Do you believe Le Pen’s sentence and political ban were proportionate to the offense?

  • 66% Yes
  • 34% No

EmailComments
jiml...At least 1 year prison time
davi...Adding that you can't run for office to a sentence fully implicates its political slant.
rsta...Embezzlement is not a good look.
bern...TRUMP SHOULD BE IN PRISON
pval...France's version of a political witch hunt against Conservatives
anne...Politicians are not exempt from the law. Criminals should not be allowed to run for office for a set, appropriate period of time.
rgar...Sounds familiar. Liberal leaders and parties creating lawfare against their conservative political opponents. Lepen, Bolsonaro, Netanyahu Trump, If you ar worried about beating them, lock them up.
amia...No different than all the others, in France MAcron and the cosmetic queen.
byro...This question is worded in a confusing way. A lot of your readers will answer opposite to how they really feel.
patr...Trump should have received a commensurate sentence. As a felon he has no right to be president.
lebe...Flushing out the real fraud.
tomg...If only we could be as bold by doing the same to Trump
atli...It is time to hold politicians and the rich to the same rules as the rest of us.
vlco...Political ban should be for life.
gulf...She should have gotten 20 years
mbul...THIS is how things are done. The “rule of law” has become a total farce in the U.S.
zack...This playbook is directly from the U.S. We saw it in 2016 with the Russia lie. All through the Biden admin they used the courts to attack Trump. Went as far to even created new laws. Same exact play book in France. Liberal politicians have failed here, in Canada, and I so many European counties. MSM Propaganda can cover up their failures until the people wake up. I bet the 61% who support throwing their political opponents in jail think they are anti-fascist lol
jlcg...It's even on the lenient side considering the size, length of time and magnitude l.e. the percentage of embezzlement funds to total funds available.
falb...You cannot have someone found to be guilty of embezzling at the top of government.
ndej...In fact, she shouldn’t be able to run for office again. When convicted politicians get into office it’s a disaster.
jrv1...If she took funds illegally and this isn’t a technicality and misinterpreting. Don’t have sufficient facts
adkl...They did it for 12 YEARS that is why I voted "NO"
rays...Should be banned for life !
coch...Offenses of such stature should come with a heavier punishment, especially when committed by elected officials.
garl...This type of political offense should be 15 years and if broad enough death penalty should be in the table...
kase...What happened to Le Pen and her political cronies should have happened to Trump and his cronies years ago. Perhaps the US would not be dismantled by a convicted felon today.
luxu...She should go to prison.
lawr...First off, I know very little of this accusation other than what is printed in the story. If she truly was embezzling funds, then she should be convicted and not allow to run for political offices. It’s very rare that any politician anywhere is held accountable for crimes so I would consider this a win.
atta...You should report the offense and its practice are widespread amongst all parties. Therefore ask whether the charge was politically motivated.
jllm...I said no because it should have been more, the truth always comes out and it’s about time someone is punished.
miss...The charges, conviction and special sentence barring office were obviously politically motivated. There should be consequences against the French leftists for this.
barr...How can they allow a convicted embezzler to run for and possibly hold public office again.
pken...Should be longer jail time
tmj6...I don't like her or her party, but this will merely embolden them. We saw what happened with Trump
stev...BS…Wall Street Journal article on the topic shows many EU politicians do the same and DO NOT get charged. This was politically motivated by Leftist Globalists that have been running France for the past decade.
chal...Nice the know consequences for illegal acts survive in countries outside the US...
gett...Take a note USA

Should Taiwan respond to Chinese military drills with its own shows of force, or avoid escalation?

  • 53% Avoid escalation
  • 47% Respond with shows of force

EmailComments
lens...Taiwan is to small to get in a war with China.
rgar...You have to stand your ground aginst a bully. If not you embolden and enable them.
anne...Nothing to be gained with an all out show of force.
amia...force is all China understands and good exercise for Taiwan troops.
rgto...Not really avoid, just don't show your hand.
aran...Ukraine has made things very tough for Russia. Avoiding escalation means hoping the abuser will go away, be bought off, not be so bad after all, suddenly stomped by huge meteorite. This approach rarely works.
bruc...if no forceful response China will be encouraged to be more forceful.
kuan...Take a look at how the British Prime Ministers — Ramsay MacDonald, Stanley Baldwin, and Neville Chamberlain — adopted a policy of appeasement toward Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. This approach ultimately contributed to the outbreak of World War II.
ndej...China and Russia have been emboldened by the US administration.
jllm...I’ll never understand why people will suffer and die due a small amount of politicians making life threatening decisions for the masses.
miss...Failure to display strength will invite more military “drills” by Red China.
zack...Weird how war hungry people have become
rays...China is a bully, like Trump.
atli...The US can stop aggression by other countries by simply stopping its own threats against other countries and modeling the advantages of peaceful resolution.
jame...Avoidance to escalation would be a green light to China to move ahead w/ violating a soveriegn nation w/ success as the Russian model has proven.

Should the US retaliate with tariffs when foreign countries impose high barriers on American products?

  • 60% Yes, fair trade requires reciprocity
  • 40% No, it risks a trade war

EmailComments
rgar...Absolutely we should. Short term results may not be good for in some areas but the longterm is what we need to start focusing on and planning for. The US cannot continue with a huge imballance. The effcts of the Globalists have us in a compromised situation, particularly with China.
jllm...There’s nothing like fairness, but tit for tat just not getting it. How about world wide tariffs illegal.
to55...NOT TRUE ! EU Restricts food additives , preservatives and plastics on all food to be consumed is a good model for the USA to follow adhere to .Cut out the tarrif bullshit , Trump is killing the Economy with his self imposed Tarrifs !
wint...The US may end up with better food products if it would raise it standards to other countries. Tariffs will never accomplish anything good. People have to talk and negotiate.
mbul...This is a sloppily worded question that compares apples to oranges. Food safety standards and packaging are an “obstacle” to American exports only because we don’t comply with those standards- they are NOT tariffs! For example, we have perfectly good milk in the U.S. and could make excellent cheese, but whatever they put in it (standards) upsets my stomach, so I buy European cheese that costs more because it doesn’t make me sick.
msyk...Let's stop talking about "fair" trade and focus on free trade. The current concept of fair trade is "I'm going to poke myself in the eye because they are poking themselves in the eye." It may be "fair" in someone's warped mind, but it's no less stupid.
atli...The solution to stimulating international trade that benefits the consumers of all the world would be for the US to unilaterally eliminate all tariffs.
lora...The US has been ripped off by Europe, Canada and the UK for years. Enough is enough. We should not be financing the world and increasing our debt. Those countries have large social policies which we are financing including retiring at 62 vs 67 in the US.
rsle...This is an extremely simplistic question to a very complicated issue. The real answer is that "It Depends on the items subject to tariffs"
kare...EU or Korean higher standards for imports should not be considered a tariff. If the US companies want to sell to those markets they should improve their products.
sand...Trump’s tariffs are ridiculous and show that he doesn’t understand the historical problems with raising tariffs.
neal...So other countries want higher quality food for their people and have regulations to protect the environment. Maybe, if the USA wants to trade in those countries we should just raise the quality of our products???
rays...Tariffs hurt consumers and make no sense, stop the tariffs now dictator !
tmj6...Bi-lateral agreements make sense. Tariffs should only be used as an incentive to negotiate agreements
pros...Countries are responsible for their citizen’s wellbeing. So, higher standards are a way of living there. Why the US should retaliate against other countries decision to live a higher standard life? It’s unfair to retaliate against higher standards with imposing tariffs; would be much more productive to make the US product a higher quality. —— About 50 pages focus on China, citing unfair practices and failure to open its agricultural market. Canada imposes tariffs up to 298% on butter. The EU’s food safety regulations and plastic packaging standards are flagged as obstacles. South Korea’s beef import limits and emissions regulations are also challenges. ——-
tomp...Right now prices on cars and trucks are outlandish. Raising prices to consumers of 15 to 25% with start a recession. Even domestic car companies import vehicles and parts from out of the country. The policy of the administration to have the Tarrifs just passed on to consumers does not fly. It's a shame that US voters had to pick between 2 idiots running for President.
zack...So other countries get to sell there products here but refuse to take ours. This has crushed US industry. Thanks Bill Clinton! Democrats and Republicans did this. Was the cheap stuff from China worth it?
jjpl...Tariffs are an illogical and counterproductive tool that only lead to endless cycles of retribution, then to economic downturns on both sides, and often to actual war. Trump started this stupid tactic and we will all reap the dire repercussions of his stupidity.
ndej...However, be thorough. The US can export butter at 0 percent tariff before a threshold is met. Then the tariffs kick in. The US rarely reaches this very high threshold. Alternatively, the US subsidizes farmers which keeps there own prices down. They don’t call it a tariff but it has the same effect. Trade is complicated and the US hasn’t been misleading in their approach. A simplistic approach is what has gotten the administration into this mess. Let the economists work out deals which are best for the economy. Tariffs are a 100 year old charade. The US is prosperous due to free trade, isolationism will crush the economy as other nations are capable to produce goods on their own.
davi...Perceived trade barriers are often related to higher standards in quality or regulatory compliance, and have not been set up to limit trade. Instead of tariffs, we should develop better products to compete in some of these foreign markets
tomg...I'm confused, US is putting tariffs on everyone, why is this about other countries putting tariffs on us?

Would you support more public funding for companies building foundational AI infrastructure like photonic interconnects?

  • 52% No
  • 48% Yes

EmailComments
elli...Yes, but the public should get equity in future businesses that profit off of the technology!
atli...The US should put its dollars into non profit university, industry unaffiliated research of AI
jllm...Talk about not being able to keep up with technology, at what point do we all sit at home with a visor over our eyes getting fat and die.
andr...there's enough funding in the private sector. that said, we also need a friendly business environment which includes limited regulation.
ndej...Leaving these tools in the hands of a few corporations will stunt advancement as they control what happens. China will then jump ahead and be the leader everywhere but the US.
tmj6...As long as there are safeguards regarding the use of AI
rgto...Sounds like a good investment opportunity.
jlcg...Funding is essential for research. Once a product is developed and tested, financial markets will provide all necessary funds.
rays...The future!
mars...Why do they need public funding?

Do you believe that using miRNAs for cancer detection could lead to earlier diagnosis — or more false positives and anxiety?

  • 94% Earlier diagnosis
  • 6% More false positives

EmailComments
sofi...The reputation of mRNA technology was destroyed during the COVID pandemic and I’ll never trust it again.
jllm...When you end up with these cancers you wish there was anything that would have let you know sooner, no matter what.
tomg...Of course the cost for the diagnostic procedure would be insane.
rsle...Just think about how all these breakthrough medical findings will be destroyed by the REPUBLICANS who support trump's plans to defund research and give yet more tax breaks that are not needed.
trag...As much as a false positive creates much anxiety,a false negative could delay care. This seems like a very promising diagnostic tool

Have you experienced or are you concerned about age-related hair loss or thinning?

  • 71% Yes
  • 29% No

cand...My hair is definitely thinning as I age. I lost it all during chemo treatment 13 years ago and it never came in as thick and continues to thin with age. However, I wold be cautious to use supplements or other treatments to help with hair growth due to possible side effects.
jllm...Hair thinning due to age is a given, but with all the drugs they have you on you don’t need anything else. I wouldn’t be surprised in the future they find out it was all medication you take that causes it.
jimb...Is this a pathway to help persons with alopecia?
