Just facts, you think for yourself

Was Pope Francis’ approach to inclusivity necessary for the Catholic Church's future?

  • 79% Yes, it was essential
  • 21% No, traditional values should remain predominant

EmailComments
live...God created man and then new man needed a partner. So he created woman! Nothing else and no one else matters.
eabe...Many family have separated themselves from.the Catholic Church because who is this Church to judge and push away the believers who's children are seen as sinners without committing a sin but just because of how the were born.
laur...Love is unconditional. And god is love.
kold...Bigotry doe not qualify as traditional values.
jjkn...He embodied the true meaning of Catholicism
bud....For over 30 years, conservatives held sway in the policies of the church. Pope Francis returned the churches emphasis to the spirit of The second Vatican council. I think his effort to reach out to couples of same-sex marriages, with a hairsplitting distinction between blessing the individuals of the marriage as opposed to the marriage, brought more pushback than he anticipated, particularly from the very conservative Cardinals of Africa. Gender ideology, and the role of women in the church are just two areas that need to be advanced if the church is to appeal to the younger generations, sadly change is so difficult in a church that has leaders who feel that it should never change. Thank you for listening. Let us long remember Pope Francis.
drga...Pope Francis' was a presence of the Christ for such a time as this. Kind, loving, inclusive, radical (for some) but true to the Gospel and to Christ whom he followed. Grace and justice are radical concepts in human culture and economy.
kev....His approach was just another sign of how dark and rebellious the world is. Even within the Church. I don’t believe in ostracizing folks for their beliefs, but accepting homosexuality as ok, IS NOT OK!
ebr....He was the progressive pope the world needs.
cica...The old Catholic Church is tired, corrupt, hypocritical, predatory and out of touch. They have been for a long long time. That’s why they’ve lost their original followers. lots of them. Their singular focus on a woman’s right to choose a led them to support people like the existing administration. Which is itself, corrupt, immoral, and dangerous.
jllm...Everyone was drifting away
atco...If we call ourselves Christians, then that means we follow the way Christ’s teachings and His model towards others.
karl...Pope Francis understood the faults of mankind, and included the the underprivileged into the Catholic community, he is what was missing in the Catholic Church of today!
laur...Inclusivity is not the same as same sex marriage. Your question is worded in order to generate positive majority. The sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman should remain predominant.
samh...The church is God’s house, it is based on God’s word. God’s word doesn’t change based on society’s whims, so why should the church? Some things the Catholic church has miss interpreted such as: intercourse between married people only for reproduction purposes, no birth control, a priest/nun/church leader has to be abstinent. Those are church politic issues and open for debate on interpretation. God is very clear in the bible regarding where he stands on marriage being between a man and a woman, there isn’t an interpretation issue there, changing the definition of marriage is saying God’s words are wrong and if he’s wrong on this, what else is he wrong on. Loving people doesn’t mean we have to condone their sin. We are all sinners, we can lovr the person without loving their sin
tcp1...There is no change without change. As a person who had a big voice, he needed to loudly reiterate the teachings of Jesus. Inclusiveness is not a new thought but is one that needs to be reaffirmed.
jmar...With everything it’s the how (details matter)
pfol...Jesus was a disrupter.
cait...The late Pope Theorized that the future of World Religions would be the One that Unified through Love, not control. This is the future we all need and must strive for. We Honor his Memory and fly Angels with his Soul Above and Beyond. That’s our Divine Promise to the dear departed Pope Francis the GREAT.
jamf...Churches need to love ALL of God's children!!
mich...He was inclusive, just like Jesus was inclusive with tax collectors, sinners, and everyone else on the margins of society. If you didn’t like Pope Francis, you probably wouldn’t of liked Jesus either.
mary...FAR TOO LONG TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE BASE OF ENTIRE WORLD OF IMPOVERISHED, uN seen POPULATIONS IN NON EUROPEAN RC ESTABLISHMENTS. BRAVO Father Bergolio
bdca...It's all about the money isn't it. While I personally am ok with same sex, it seems that to go against the teachings of the Church is about the money and not about supporting the church beliefs and teachings....ergo....$$$$$
eliz...Necessary? is not the right word. The church does need to be inclusive as Christ was the epitome of inclusivity, but it must also be cautious to not alter foundational beliefs to accomodate choices that go against the principles and precepts of Christianity.
ntha...Above all else, this shows the love that God has for us rather than trying to villainize those that share love in ways that we may not understand fully. It must have been a difficult stand to make, but allowing all love to be recognized by the church will likely bring more people into the body of Christ and help everyone's understanding.
dldo...Your comment "He supported civil unions for same-sex couples" is absolutely false. You are incorrect in stating this. That has NEVER been a position of the Church and Pope Francis did NOT change that position. You need to be careful what you state, and you need to make sure it is accurate. The comment quoted above is NOT accurate.
pegg...Gay woman in my 70’s - Catholic grade school, Catholic high school. Never felt connected to the church until Francis. Humility, kindness, compassion - made the church MEAN something to those who need it most.
benj...He was an incredible voice for the modern church and will be dearly missed. I pray his spirit and approach remains within the Church.
kale...I am a converted CATHOLIC, I am not a model attendee at mass. What I love about the Catholic Church is its traditions, steeped in history and continuity. What I also love about the Catholic Church is its periodic introspection. Pope Francis challenged us to be more thoughtful, respectful, and more understanding of the practice of love thy neighbor. As the Father of our church he showed love for everyone and encouraged us not to judge others. Political ideologies come and go like the tide, the Catholic religion should be resolute, Bible, with the ability to make amendments as it grows in the understanding of Jesus’ message.
poll...I think the Pope was very political and more to the masses than right. He abandon the people of Cuba
rsbo...Religions claiming benevolence at minimum need tolerance of all others, but preferably can invite all into shared values of spirituality, worship and the golden rule.
marc...The man lead the Catholic Church the way it was intended to be lead by Jesus Christ. For too long money, power and control became the overall focus....of course greatly influenced by politics. Hopefully the cardinals will have the courage to continue in the direction initiated by Papa Francisco.
atli...The church is now at a crossroads. Will it prefer Christian peace and humility or intolerant tyranny?
erwi...Sad to hear of Pope Francis passing. The Catholic church must adapt to the changing times while keeping Jesus teachings intacted based on current situations. Pope Francis understood this.
arth...The question should be will there be two different sects of the Catholic Church, similiar to the schism that started the Lutheran Church. Modernism vs. Traditionalism will likely cause such a schism.
barr...To follow traditional values that were created thousands of years ago would be naive.
jsno...He override what CHRIST wrote in the Bible that a union was between a Man and a Woman!!! Thus He thought that He was more Correct than GOD HIMSELF!!! WRONG!!!!
kase...Many Americans have left
zack...All while covering for pedophiles. Inclusivity, much of the time, is used to make sinful people feel better about themselves. All the while the Catholic Church knows they are going to hell. It’s a fraud, just like most organized religions.
guys...If people, plants, and animals evolve, so should the church
dore...The world is not standing still, even for the Catholic faith. Had the church lived by its beliefs they wouldn't find themselves paying millions of dollars in law suits.
beth...Galatians 3:28, And Phillip's welcome to the Ethiopian Eunuch.
ejol...So grateful to have a truly compassionate, tolerant loving pope like Jesus. Truly reminded me of the goodness and hope in my Catholic upbringing.🙏🙏🙏❤️ RIP
jjda...Negotiating away Gospel truth in the name of social justice is not only wrong, it is indicative of growing moral cowardice of Christian leadership world wide, while we continue to see leadership genuflect before globalism and it's ideology.
lisa...Hopefully his predecessor will follow in the same footsteps.
news...Need to keep up with times

Do you believe that excluding Ukraine from NATO is a necessary step for lasting peace?

  • 74% No, it would endanger Ukraine's security
  • 26% Yes, it could stabilize the region

EmailComments
amyw...I believe that when Ukraine released it's nuclear arsenal and signed a treaty with NATO for protection, the best way to support that treaty and their rights as a sovereign nation they should be allowed into NATO. Putin's strong objection is solely for the purpose of being able to attempt to annex parts of Ukraine without immediate NATO retaliation. Putin cannot be trusted but then again neither can Trump.
efpe...one sided concessions do not work. When does Russia concede something, Why should the aggressor dictate terms.
debb...Ridiculous proposal
deb_...I believe that Ukraine deserves the protection that it needs from Russian attacks. Nato membership is needed .
rsbo...Russia infiltrates countries with Russian speakers then claims it is taking control of the territory to protect them. This will continue unless Ukraine has autonomy and security.
corr...Putin needs to be stopped
pion...Russia under Putin is failed, untrustworthy, rogue nation. If it did not have nuclear weapons, it would be a 2nd world power to which we would pay little attention. The US is an untrustworth ally. Our representative democracy has ossified with senior leaders who's only purpose is to hold on to power. We have no charismatic leaders of integrety to pull the nation together. Europe has a vested interest in Ukarine's sovernty. Every country sorounding Russia should be in NATO which must find a way to create a form of republic that can act in unison.
lftc...Russia will never stop attacking ukraine until it possesses all the land in that country
cica...Once again, we need to support Ukraine 100% and provide them whatever it is they need to continue their struggling against murder, rape, and eventual tyranny
sdsa...Trump is in Putin’s backpocket and has been a willing puppet for him this entire time.
swjo...Isolationism does not work, the lesson of history is that we do not learn from the lessons of history! For reference see Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt before WWI and WWII.The end game here is isolationism that acts like nothing happened. A Prime Minister of Britain gave away a foreign country before WWII. Names are not important, his foolishness helped lead to WWII. Do we learn nothing?
chri...It is likely the item that most interests Putin. This being said, it would reward and embolden him to view future aggressions as a viable way of getting what he wants.
usct...NATO membership is necessary. Ukraine and the rest of Europe cannot afford to trust Putin. Nor should the United States.
amy....Have to go back in history, this is what Ukraine agreed to years ago. This is the equivalent of Mexico and Canada putting Chinese troops on our borders. Not condoning Putin but they’ve provoked Russia.
rick...Never say never!
jllm...it endangers all our security
gray...Our president is a Russia lover and isn’t doing any justice for the people of Ukraine very sad!!!!
stev...Trump is a dictator that aligns with other dictators, especially Putin. Trump is a bully who cares only about himself.
robi...Ukraine has the right to choose if joining NATO is best for the country. Russia will no doubt continue to harass its neighbors.
geor...Are you kidding me? We should have already voted Ukraine into NATO! The more we allow Putin to take the more he will continue to take not only from Ukraine but all of the smaller countries - especially those that were once a part of the Soviet Union! We must support Ukraine with everything we have! They are securing our security without one American soldier being sacrificed! And our businesses have profited by making supporting arsenals. We must beat back Putin!
cjc3...Even if Ukraine is not in NATO, that would not preclude Europe from coming to it’s defense.
chri...NATO is a defensive organization. If Ukraine had been a member in 2014, there would have been no invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. Likewise, if the Republic of Georgia had been a member in 2008, that country would not have been invaded by the Russian Federation. NATO members do not invade each other. Similarly, other nations do not invade NATO members. If the Russian Federation were a member of NATO, regional, as well as global security, would be greatly improved.
kold...It's an outrageous proposal, to prevent a country from being secured by it's neighbors.
kenr...Russia is a threat to the region and NATO is the anchor of deterrence. Strengthening NATO and including Ukraine is the only way to prevent Russia from further aggression in the region
arth...The facts are, Russia cannot even win against the Ukrainians, much less NATO. Russian knows that resorting to nuclear weapos, while devastating for the life of the planet would most certainly mean it’s own demise. Give it Crimera, but give Ukraine NATO membership. Time to draw the line with Russia, which will also send a message to China over Tiawan.
kale...Ukraine, as a sovereign nation has the right to apply for a safety network inclusion in the face of repeated incursions by a hostile, greedy and manipulative Russia. Ukraine is the only country being forced to remain defenseless.
jame...I’m ashamed of the way Trump is abandoning Ukraine
conr...The primary reason NATO was created was to band nations together for greater deterrence and strength against aggression. If peace is the objective, there is no logical reason for exclusion.
erwi...The issue is whether Putin can be trusted with this agreement in place.
atli...The US has always known that insistence on NATO membership of Ukraine was a bad idea. That is why they informally reassured Russia that it would never happen. But broke that promise as the US hunger for the total destruction of Russia took precedence.
pfol...Putin must not be allowed to bully his neighbors
paul...There will never be peace if this is allowed
mwny...Russia has violated security agreements regarding Ukraine numerous times. Only substantial security guarantees that include NATO backing would be adequate to support Ukraine’s sovereignty.

How confident are you in the Israeli's military ability to investigate itself regarding incidents like the killings of medics?

  • 69% Not confident at all
  • 16% Somewhat confident
  • 15% Very confident

EmailComments
chri...Every now and then they will drop some crumbs of accountability while the rampant violent genocide continues
tubi...any objective human in the world knows when working with the idf, you need to double the armor on your back.
rsbo...Israel’s attitude seems to be it is under existential threat and that it is justified in protecting itself without remorse or accountability to others
chri...Self policing in a war zone? After the deed is already done? Get real.
mush...This war is genocide.
atli...Israel's end goal of the ethnic cleansing of Palestians justifies in their minds whatever immoral means are necessary.
bpin...Nut and fook you is a proven war criminal
deb_...No one should investigate themselves, it is to easy to cover up mistakes.
jllm...Please
tgme...They have a horrible record.
noah...Israeli soldiers rioted and stormed a jail when a few soldiers (out of many many cases) were actually accused of rape, so yeah, no way there will be anything more than a slap on the wrist.
your...Free Palestine
geor...How dare they get away with this by just relieving the person in charge? This was cold blooded murder! I want Israel to have security, but that doesn’t mean they should be allowed to kill thousands of Gazans in order to find a handful of terrorists. Their shoulders should be on the ground trying to find the hostages and taking the terrorists down without killing so many innocent people. This is no different than genocide.
jvkm...Israel is committing Genocide, and they don’t care who they kill in their path.
jmbe...We continue to ally ourselves with and to provide weapons to a corrupt regime which has repeatedly committed wat crimes in pursuit of genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. Why?
bdca...Very disappointed in Israel government. It is exactly what people say...genocide.
mwny...They deserve each other. Both are terrorists.

Do you believe the new tariff regulations will ultimately benefit or harm US consumers?

  • 81% Harm
  • 19% Benefit

EmailComments
msyk...There is really no possible outcome under which consumers are not hurt. Even if it results in lowered tariffs imposed by other countries on our goods, the short-term harm will not be offset by meaning increases in exports and any negotiated reduction is likely to be short-term in nature (until the next change in administration).
leet...Ultimately being the key word. They will only help if they are a catalyst for improved trade agreements.
ebr....Of course it will harm us. To believe otherwise is delusional.
sang...I am already seeing a lot of price increase in everyday items including groceries.
chri...This isn’t rocket science. In fact, it’s first year economics. Unfortunately, the current U.S. President and his “advisors” only possess the equivalent of a 7th grade education. If that. So everyone except the very wealthy will endure significant economic hardship as a result of their lack of knowledge, or their ability to understand the implications of their ham fisted approach to mismanage the U.S. economy through the usage of punitive tariffs.
geor...As the markets have shown, we have a sick man running our country and ruining our economy. That’s in addition to ignoring court rulings and causing a crises on everything he touches or speaks about.
jmbe...Trump will go down as the worst US president in history.
jvsr...Most Americans want instant gratification so are unwilling to wait. Ultimately tariffs will open new markets but pricing of consumer products will not go down. You can't sell consumer products as cheaply when you compare minimum wage (USA) $15/hr to the cheaper foreign wage of some countries average wage of $1 to $2.
tomw...Ultimately the administration will fold to compromise based on the profits and expenditures of the top companies, not based on the harm to most Americans. It is already known they don't mind creating havoc for middle class citizens.
mwny...Smoot Hawley anyone? Next depression up.
erwi...In the short-term, it is hurting the US consumers. There are obvious signs today and what's to come. While it has painful ramifications, a well-executed set of tariff regulations against countries where the US has huge trade deficiencies, has good long-term benefits. However, this requires careful planning and execution, which the current Administration did not take. They took the tough negotiation tactic with tariff on a massive global scale that continues to hurt the US economy.
cb10...On purpose due to one madman.
mend... It is needed to stop dumping of chep products into the us market
atli...We live on a planet that is comprised of more than just Americans.
gray...There isn’t a plan in place as of yet so there be chaos very where.
tomp...All costs increase from tariffs will be passed on to consumers. This Crusade will continue to punish the consumers, especially the poor.
jmar...Need fairer trade deals but this bravado is just causing harm both short and long term
john...And trump doesn’t care.
tubi...it will benefit the very few who are in a position to make profit from it.
jllm...It’s unbelievable to be so naïve to think that you can unwind decades of negotiations with tariffs

Do you see a practical application for organic superconductors in everyday technology?

  • 70% Yes, they will revolutionize consumer electronics.
  • 30% No, they will remain in specialized applications.

EmailComments
jimb...I read the article twice and still have no idea what you are talking about.
mich...This is way over my head
jllm...To think no one could figure out what to do with a PC except store recipes, I’m sure we will figure out what to do with superconductors

Do you believe vagus nerve stimulation should be a first-line treatment for severe depression?

  • 82% Yes, it offers new hope for patients
  • 18% No, standard treatments should remain the focus

EmailComments
atco...A combination of both approaches is important. Further research needs to be conducted. Remember Electroshock Therapy is also a form of nerve stimulation to some extent. Strict guidelines should be in place because the vagus nerve affects all areas of the nervous system. It would be important to evaluate potential side effects since long term damage is a real potential threat!
rsti...I took TMS for depression and it worked better than all the horrible medications I took. Best cure for depression is lifestyle changes focused on improving physical health via exercise and getting enough sleep and adding music, puppies or another hobby which brings happiness. Meditations should be a last resort, not the first line of treatment based on my 40 year journey with mental illness, anxiety and depression
jamf...I have been receiving various forms of Neurofeedback since my March 2020 Neuropsychiatric Covid sequelae began. It cleared my brain fog immediately! I tried to go public with this early on but was silenced as government wanted vax to be the only antidote ... I have spent thousands on this treatment-and it should absolutely be covered!! Pharma! Get out of the way...
jllm...If you know someone with depression, they will do anything to improve their quality of life
ebr....Anything besides pumping folks full of pills is a step in the right direction.
ehdt...First line treatments should be evaluated on a case by case basis.
lesa...VNS has only been tested on people resistant to standard treatments. Until there has been testing on people who have responded to drug treatment, and also on a test group that have had no treatment, we won’t really know if it should be used as a first line of treatment.
vzwi...The FDA should approve the use of VNS as a tool to improve many more conditions including SIBO , IMO and IBD .
mcso...This is a hard question. VNS is for severe depression, meaning that traditional treatments would (most likely) have to be failed to qualify for the studies. I imagine the side effect profile for VNS is less than pharmaceuticals and that would be an argument to start earlier in treatment
chri...If it doesn't work, the drugs can still be used.
