tim_... | Own home. No debt. $250k dividend investment portfolio. $80k annual income |
maur... | My income as a single retired teacher is right about $100,000. annually. I taught & paid into a state approved pension plan for 43+ years to earn that pension. My pension comes solely from this retirement plan, not from Social Security. |
butc... | $400K |
amyl... | Approx $375,000 |
fano... | 82K, but I am retired. And I like my social security which at least pays for my taxes in NJ. I also definitely need my medicare. |
sang... | This is no brainer considering ever increasing inflation rate! In the not so distant future, there will be only 2 class of people - poor and rich. The middle class will disappear. Then will come the apocalypse. If we don't do something about it now! |
aubr... | I’m not going to lie, you would think that making $100-250k would be good, but we are scraping by. We live in Denver and energy costs and groceries are out of control. We do not buy designer anything, have not bought new electronics, cars, or any large purchases. All of our money goes to the literally necessities - we are both self-employed and between health insurance and medication I need I pay $12,000 a year on medical - that does not include doctor’s visits or biopsies and stuff. It is a very rough economy. Yhe mortgages on our two houses (one brings in rental income) are $4000 a month total ($48,000). My husband has a medical condition where he has to have a $3000 infusion every 9 months and insurance amounting to $4800 a year and an MRI once a year for $3000. That is another $10k. We have not touched auto insurance ($340 a month) homeowners, utilities, and one car payment. Yesterday I learned that you have to make $180,000 to afford childcare for one child in the US. We are not having any children. The money is gone FAST. Add in state, federal, local tax. It’s chaos. |
clee... | Kudos to those with incomes greater than 100k. The middle class seniors made it possible for you! |
rebe... | We are retired. |
kfer... | Retired, living in social security, savings, and investments |
arty... | In California 260k household income is almost paycheck to paycheck |
seea... | 175k |
sere... | I can tell from some of the past polls that most of your readers are higher earners. More conservative opinions. |

rich... | Retired, SS, pension benefits, and spouse working part time. |
twig... | It’s interesting to see readership through this lens. |
cica... | I’m poor, but I’m not stupid Trump’s an asshole. And he’s not going to fix anything. The only person DJ T is going to help is himself. He already is. |
mary... | The elite rich push production based on their ego to acquire more. Do they share or help build up people who are marginalized? So, how effective is their production in a trickle down concept? |
madm... | It is what it is. |
zack... | They almost pay most of the tax dollars our government wastes as well. |
cmes... | We make well over a million a year on our investments. |
nick... | Single parent, teacher’s salary |
char... | I am retired so income is not from salary |
sere... | IRA’s and continuing pension plans have kept my head above water |
knod... | Retired widow 84 years old |
atli... | If billionaires were taxed out of existence democracy would replace oligarchy and the poor could enjoy life as much as the rich. |
cmar... | Wowsa. I wondered where all the higher income middle class people are. Reading this I guess! |
sgbo... | That’s Two incomes and we still struggle to make ends meet we drive old cars and have credit card debt |
chri... | You should really revise the numbers upwards. $250K a year is barely upper middle class if you have a family in a US city. |
pman... | And we still Have to watch out budget - inflation not in food but insurance, taxes, schooling has increased . Trump is now official destroying the economy - |
wise... | Retired. |

Do you think that Apple should be required to manufacture more of its products in the US?
- 75% Yes, it would create jobs and strengthen the economy
- 25% No, global supply chains are more efficient
Comments | |
---|---|
cmes... | Global supply chains are garbage it really wasn't outsourced outside the country to make it more efficient this was always about money money I'm from Detroit I had family members that worked in GM all that outsourcing was done to save cash and it took jobs out of the country GM never believed that it would hurt the economy. But they were greedy they wanted their bonuses and they were wrong. It never occurred to them that if you fire all those people and hurt all those little parts companies that you actually eliminate car buyers. And then a cascaded throughout the world. I was there it was about money not efficiency supply chain efficiency was a lie. Guys at the top of those big companies back in the '80s and '90s all they cared about with their bonuses and is their name was spelled Right in the newspaper. |
cica... | Bad polling question Anna. Apple shouldn’t be required to do anything. They should be encouraged to manufacture stuff here. If for no other reason, then to put all these “illegal” immigrants to work. There’s not enough natural, bornAmericans to do all the work that we need done at to support the social programs that we all enjoy. You know, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. |
sant... | Absolutely! |
scot... | So they have to raise the price of their products a little. I will still buy them. |
cmar... | Apple isn't going to make crap in the U.S. This was a bullshit announcement. Most of the parts come from overseas. And they're not saying they're going to build iPhones here! Just some imaginary AI stuff. |
madm... | These ptoduct manufacturing jobs will be needed to provide jobs fot all the federal employees, incuding many veterans, purged by the Elon Musk and Donald Trump pogroms. |
rsta... | Think and reality are two different worlds. The channels are already established and it would take years and be very expensive to mobile phone manufacturing back to the US of A. |
erwi... | The richest US corporations should definitely help expand jobs in the US. |
laur... | Keep America working, creating our own products. |
mill... | Tell me you don't understand econ without telling me |
zack... | Why does 24% support slave labor? |
chri... | The US labor market has deeper issues that need to be addressed. Our schools are shit so we have no talent to staff modern manufacturing facilities.. Culturally, we are entitled and less willing to work hard than people in India or Vietnam. Fix these issues and manufacturing will return. Oh, and don't forget to get rid of the mass of regulations. |
wrwa... | Yes they should produce more here in the U.S. But, I don’t like the term”required “. |
herm... | It always best to manufacture in the USA for job creation and the innovative technology leading to new discoveries in the field |
rgar... | Globalist approach to the economy has made our counrty weaker. We depend on China and others for critical needs that should be made here. Made In America should be a priority for all Americans. |
arth... | They’re not required to manufacture in the U.S. They can pay the tariff, and manufacture anywhere they want. |
ham3... | Absolutely. US is the market and should be producing at home. This may raise price but be good for entire country in general. Continental manufacturing! |
Do you think the US should allow Nvidia to sell more advanced AI chips to China?
- 76% No, it strengthens China’s AI capabilities
- 24% Yes, it's good for the free market
Comments | |
---|---|
atli... | Collaboration is preferable to competition. Everyone wins except the billionaire ruling class. |
drol... | Stop giving our stuff away. Build our own economy here. Make them come to us. Haven't you learned anything? |
chri... | All the export controls will do is force them to develop their own next gen technology. Right now they are doing it slowly. Force their hand and instead, they will do it fast. |
mich... | China works against the US’s interests. Why allow them to buy tools to steal from us and destabilize the US. |
cmes... | We should sell things to China but not things that help strengthen China |
vict... | China is a US adversary that has no boundaries on their expansion to the west. Allowing them to buy US stocks, land, companies serves to weaken the US worldwide. |
rgar... | This is a national secuity issue. Strict controls should be followed. |
medl... | No. China would not sell their advanced chips to us if the situation was reversed. |
cica... | We have to be really careful about what we designated is national security technology that needs to be protected |
exmx... | They probably are building their own chips. |
alex... | If we sell chips to China they will not work as hard to make their own chips or to make better chips. We will know more about what they have and they will be reliant upon us. |
Do you believe Silicon Valley's "fake it till you make it" culture encourages fraud?
- 95% Yes, it leads to deception
- 5% No, it’s part of innovation
Comments | |
---|---|
cmes... | Yes because it's only about the money and they get caught up in the ego |
mdul... | Describing a roadmap and painting a picture of what might be possible is a key component in innovation. However, stating or suggesting that a technology that is yet to be developed is here and ready to use is simply fraudulent. |
park... | Currently the victim of one of these schemes. |
rgar... | Selling on false pretence is fraud! not sure why anyone could make any other conclusion. They cheated and got what they deserved. That is why we have laws. All too often our courts do not follow the guidelines to punish people who break laws. Selling on false pretense is a crime, yes even in sillicon valley. |
ende... | It is part of innovation however it needs guardrails |
joll... | Trump is the biggest fraud out there. Obviously he is the fake it, and fake it again, and fake it even after you make it. Lying all the way. There should be consistent justice for all fraudsters and felons. |
rich... | Just my opinion, I have no real knowledge about anything in SV |
tubi... | though its apparently only a problem if you're ripping off wealthy people. |
chri... | There is a difference between showing a proof of concept and saying it is a finished scalable product. |
kfer... | Who says that’s the culture?! People dream and envision and exert themselves to make it happen. However, outright fraud and misleading should still be held accountable. |
What best describes your attitude toward alternative medicine?
- 64% Open to trying it
- 32% Skeptical but curious
- 5% I only trust conventional treatments
Comments | |
---|---|
barb... | There would have to be, at the very least, strong anecdotal evidence. |
rgar... | We need more and better information. We were told the covid vacination would prevent covid. How did that work out? |
andr... | Weirdly worded answers. No question that well have an explosion in this area. Centralized medicine will eventually be obviously a failure to prevent diseases. |
cica... | There’s a lot of alternative therapy, SS that may actually be helpful. There’s also a lot of snake oil out there. It’s difficult to know the difference. |
cori... | I already engage in non- traditional therapies and alternative medicine |
rich... | Why not |
dest... | "Conventional" doesn't work for many things |
drol... | I fully believe in alternative medicine. There's so much that can be done out there. That's not being utilized right now |
zack... | Very skeptical cause I’ve tried it many times with no signs of success. Not saying it doesn’t help some.l though |
pena... | Big pharma and the AMA and APA are disgusting motherfuckers who I hate--they have a monopoly on health and only succeed in making billions off of keeping people sick, stupid and insane. |
dani... | My family and I are skeptical of “conventional treatments”. We’ve had so many instances of poor or dangerous result from “conventional treatments”. They barely seem to exist in the USA to serve the health of the patient over the health of the pharmaceutical industry and their incentives. We’ve found there rarely has been a suggestion of treatment at all, when they can just right a script. We are all-in on alternative medicine, it’s expensive because it’s out of pocket, but has been proven far more effective for our needs. The hardest part of alternative medicine is the resources and access. |
chri... | Just because we don't currently understand how things work doesn't mean we won't discover mechanisms in the future. Also, the pharma industry and the FDA have so captured the regulatory process that getting a treatment approved is prohibitively expensive and only possible for large companies. So, we won't see as much innovation or the ability to market treatments that have a reasonable amount of evidence of effectiveness. Don't worry, the Chinese will drive innovation instead, they too are human and want improved health. |
Does this discovery make you more confident that Mars once supported life?
- 75% Yes, water increases the chances
- 25% No, water doesn’t guarantee life
Comments | |
---|---|
rgar... | ??? If you believe this. China will probably sell you some ocean front property on Mars! |
chri... | "Increases" doesn't mean "guarantees" |
herm... | I believe Mars is evolving into a planet that will create new life and sustain existing life. |
medl... | Not a scientist but water would indicate H2O and possible aquatic life forms. |
b.bo... | There is life only where our Creator intended for there to be life |
