juli...Where's the answer to free Palestine ?
creo...The facts show that when you are taught that the world sucks and everything around you is evil this is the results you get!let me say again that you can’t Fix Stupid.
kath...Yes. You don't have to be a victim to recognize antisemitism.
emil...Thank G-d we have Israel.
liam...Ridiculous framing. It’s clearly in response to Israel’s war on the Palestinian people
debr...Our children have been indoctrinated to hate Israel and Jews by our schools. I had previously thought that this was happening JUST in the Mosques, but it is more prolific. It is going to be a tough road to get this undone.
jrv1...Some don’t really want freedom, they want death of Jewish people
cayl...I don’t agree with the use of Antisemitism in your question as the being against Israel isn’t necessarily antisemitic. The actions of Israel again Palestinians aren’t condoned by many religious Jews.
jruf...This country (Judicial branch) is not tough enough on the anti Semitism groups of people. Arrests should start with the protesters for Palestine supporters.
jimb...Israel bombs a hospital, terrorist retaliates...it will never end
kash...We are anti so many things when it comes to the minorities in our country under this present administration. I would not single out antisemitism. We do recognize the horrors Israel under Netanyahu is continuing to inflict on the Palestinian population. A National leader as corrupt as our present President.
gret...well meaning college students and other protesters are being manipulated by Hamas and other terrorist organizations to breed hatred and anti semitism. the western world needs to understand that Free, free Palestine can only work if the Palestinians and the wider Arab world accept the existence of the Jewish state. Once they love their children more than they hate Jews, they might finally have a peaceful Palestinian state.
jllm...They will be at war with each other from the beginning of time to the end of time
meen...This is unlikely to be antisemitism and more likely to be anti-israel. Stop equating the two.
suzy...This will never change because from birth children born in Arabic families are taught to hate the Jewish people and celebrate their deaths. I lived in a neighborhood many years ago with predominantly Arab families...
beth...The country has been brainwashed into believing that Palestine is all HAMAS, the Israel / pro Palestine movement has nothing to do with Jewish people and everything to do with the genocide/starvation of Palestinian civilians. Our country is funding this genocide. Enough is enough.
imkm...3/4 of a decade of that regime telling the planet 'any criticism of our fuckery means you're going against the will of the jewish people,' is starting to catch up with them. #zionismmakesjewsunsafe
remy...None of these answers are good. It's not antisemitic just because the Israeli prime minister says so. This attack is a crime for certain but it is not antisemitism. Netanyahu just tries to use the smear of antisemitism as his only defense for his much more horrific behavior.
jrom...There seems to be a growing feeling that anti-semitism is okay; a very dangerous trend. When combined with the rhetoric of the far left and far right factions wishing death on those that disagree with them, we are sitting on a future powder-keg. The country seems to have lost its moral compass, as well as its common sense.
kbue...People who choose to represent a racist state that practices genocide should not be surprised when they receive similar treatment from those who choose violence in return.
more...I am surprised that something like this has not happened before, specifically targeting Israeli government employees in pretty much the same way as a US supplied Mk84 bomb targets Palestinian civilians, random and wrong in both cases. I would not be surprised to see it happen again.
joe....I think we need to view this as a political crime versus a religous hate crime.
edwa...The horrible attack was on Israelis, not on random Jews. Horrible, but there is a difference with respect to 'antisemitism', even if motivated by hatred all the same.
ekem...I think it’s anti Israel. Not anti semetic. There is a difference
dels...Not indifferent, just believe recent activity is uncovering the anti-Semitism that was always there
ptri...The Israli government are assisting in creating future terrorists.
deee...The world is getting more and more violent towards Israel and Jews. Stricter laws must be put into place and NO leniency towards any antisemitism.
jamf...This is devastating. Our society is so sick and misinformed...
sall...None of the above. I think anti-genocide is NOT the same as antisemitism. In any case this shooting was senseless and horrible.
tnkp...An isolated incident sparked by the perception that Judaism is that the problem, when governments and policies are responsible. Death of 1200 Jews is reprehensible, death of 45,000 and a clear policy of relocation of 2 million is not an answer. What have we learned over 75 years. Apparently nothing.
cmic...I would label it anti-Netanyahu policies rather than antisemitic
brit...Antisemitism is not necessarily rising, Israel is committing a genocide and people are judging Israelis and their supporters.
atpp...This is a real problem with a antisemitism. Godless/mindless people. The worst of mind kind!
caro...I think the awareness of the genocide in Palestine is increasing, but the movement is anti-Zionist vs anti-semitic as evidenced by the number of Jewish supporters of Palestinians.
kink...Is it as simple as another insane person with a gun? And curious to know why there is so much support for Palastine and so much contempt for Israel and by association Jewish people.
quin...These answer options don’t clearly cover my feelings about this subject.
akob...no one hates jews. i am a jew. but everyone should hate what israel is doing. it's a holocaust against the muslims. stop being racist towards muslims.
rita...Antisemitism along with racism are very big problems in this country for sure.
cher...It’s clearly a response to violence already perpetrated by a state, not a group of people
ayo....The right wing government in Israel makes it difficult to separate legitimate criticism of Israeli government and antisemitism
rwon...Restore Gaza back to the Palestinians.
paxt...It was clear what he intended by his words spoken. So this wasn’t an isolated incident, but rather an attack on two people because of their ethnicity. They were in no position to do anything to help or hinder the Palestinian cause.
sosh...What about the attacks on Palestinian and Arab folks in the US? Are they not also “Semitic” people? The continued Genocide of Palestine is not going to make Jewish people safer. It’s going to make it harder everywhere. Because it’s illustrating that there’s a large percentage of Jewish folks and Christian Zionists who don’t believe that the people of Palestine deserve to live. A Holocaust is A Holocaust no matter who commits it.
sims...It is related to the war in the Middle East, which the Palestines thought Trump was gonna come in and fix and be a positive outcome for them. I do not think antisemitism is any worse today then has been in the history of this country, but this is strictly due to what’s going on in the Middle East
chri...There is severe injustice happening to Arabs in Gaza and until this is ended and reparations made, it will inspire frustrated people to act out. Unfortunately these young kids were the victims of this frustration. This is NOT antisemitism.
goro...ANTIZIONISM IS NOT ANTISEMITISM SIGNED- A JEW
grac...Israel is committing genocide as the world watches.
kary...There is antisemitic graffiti all over dc and I have to walk my Jewish son passed it to school everyday. No matter how much they wash it off it pops right back up. Grateful for our dc police. Sad day.
dian...Everyone is a child of God. Do not hate, do not kill your fellow man.
biba...No one world yell “free Palestine” who would have heard that anyway? I think it’s a set up to make people hate Palestine supporters and antisemitism.
ekap...Open your eyes
will...It is related to the ethnic cleansing Israel is engaged in Gaza.
char...100% antisemitism…….why they don’t speak about the killing’s in Yemen between them, or about the killing people in Russia vs Ucrania , or lot of massacres between the different Arab tribus
marc...To believe anything else would be denying what we are seeing across the country and world. If this behavior would be allowed against other groups our world would fall into anarchy. Not sure why it is tolerated by so many people. It's only a matter of time before something worse happens and then it will be to late.
rabb...The demonization of Israel and Jews on our campuses across the country, as well as pockets of blatant Jew Hatred becoming more bold and vocal contributes to this crime.
lkdn...There has been an increase in antisemitism in last few years stoked by Israel’s war on gaza
lind...There is a growing, unfounded trend towards antisemitism, in this country and abroad, from those that confuse the Israeli government with all Jewish people. The US administration suggested they support Jewish people but are now muddying the waters by accepting bribe planes from sponsors of Hamas, the primary group assailing Jewish people in Israel regardless of their support for their government.
geor...As a longtime supporter of the Anti-Defamation League, I continue to be alarmed that there is little distinction between White Nationalist and White Supremacist groups and their followers who abhor all Jewish people and the millions of Americans who support all Jewish people AND believe what is happening in Gaza is absolutely wrong. The elite Israeli forces could contain and take the Hamas leaders without killing thousands of innocent people living in Gaza. But now people speaking up against what Netanyahu is doing in Gaza are being considered Antisemitic. And after watching people being abducted by our own country and whisked away without due process, the ADL has begun to speak out, but way too softly. But because being against the treatment of the Gazan people is now being considered Antisemitism, Netanyahu is litteraly getting away with genocide!
sara...You pose a false dichotomy and lazy equivalent - support of Palestine (even crazy, abhorrent support such as this) does not necessarily equal "antisemitism". Yesterday Israel sent missiles into the generators of a hospital - an abhorrent, manifestly illegal and cruel action that like much of their "war fighting" targets the weakest, including children. This disgusting conduct is what has driven people mad with rage about this war, not some preexisting "antisemitism". Many people protesting the war are Jewish people horrified by what is being done by both Hamas and the Jewish state - both of whom are, judged purely by their actions, repellent and evil organizations flouting every law of war that the world has established.
sara...It’s very complicated, but when one race determines to ethically cleanse another there are bound to be consequences.
rgar...27 % of your readers are idiots
esqu...Please don't incite emotions further. The peaceful previous protests in support of what people believe in has nothing to do with violent acts of people who are willing to do terrible things. Protesting for the rights of Palestinians isn't antisemitic any more than being pro Israel is being anti Moslem. Please accept criminals as they are, lone actors doing unspeakable and atrocious acts and don't attribute this hate across the board. I believe that it is just as wring to get the world incited and fired up wrongly. Freedom of speech and peaceful protests supporting one's nationality or race isn't diwning any others. Please stop spreading the hate and inciting. Why jump to a universal conclusion. This survey just proves exactly what I'm saying. I pray for the souls of the beautiful couple and for their families.
trag...Antisemitism is a longstanding issue that was demonstrated and exacerbated by the October 7 attacks on Israel. These reflect antisemitism that one would like to believe belonged to a small segment of the population. The ensuing war was initially seen as a justifiable reaction to the atrocities of October. Not long afterward the media portrayed the suffering and deaths of Palestinians in Gaza as far greater than it was in Israel. This sowed the dormant seeds of antisemitism that seems to grow with the death toll in Gaza. Trump’s war against antisemitism on college campuses is a sham. It’s a way to exact revenge on foreign students and elite universities and has had the effect of increasing antisemitism. The more Trump takes away from universities in the name of antisemitism the more the hatred of Jews grows and intensifies.
juli...I think it reflects anger about what the Israeli government is doing to harm, kill, displace, starve Palestinians in Gaza as well as the West Bank.
jill...The Bible explains what is taking place.
pjpa...State Dept needs to continue to monitor the protests and deport any visa holders stirring/fostering hate in America
laur...The framing of this question shows horrible bias, sloppy thinking or both - I'm seriously thinking of unsubscribing based on this survey. Attacking citizens of a country at war and currently engaged in documented war crimes is not necessarily antisemitic. Conflating Israel and the actions of Israel with all Jews is problematic, but you did not present evidence that is what happened here. There is a serious problem illustrated by this incident, given the prolonged war and associated atrocities. This incident indicates a serious problem AND it is not an isolated incident. And your framing of the issue was terrible.
nosk...The problem is fueled by constantly listening to supposed responsible "leaders" spout off ugliness
jonm...This action was driven by the Isreali states actions with the support of the united states. I don't think it's anti Semitic because the action wasn't against the Jewish diaspora for being Jewish. It was against the state for driving an agenda of ethnic cleansing to gain more annexable land.
ajos...This is the result of trumpys continued rhetoric of violence against anyone who apposes him.
perm...The hard truth is Jews are not protesting others or violently attacking others, only defending themselves. The Christians are not protesting others or violently attacking others, only defending themselves. So maybe we need an hard look at who is attacking, bombing, kidnapping, violently protesting and intimidating others.
kold...It’s not anti-Semitic, it’s anti-war crimes. People from both sides are in danger until the killing in Gaza and Israel stops
lesl...It is not anti-semetic, it is anti-Israel genocide in Gaza. Why does the media conflate Judaism and Israel?
smsf...People are not being punished for spewing hatred. It needs to be addressed very seriously.
vwit...Israel is a country and we can dislike it policy with our hating all of it people
mars...But why is it this not happening at Russian embassies or businesses? Less sympathy for Ukraine?
walk...This is so sad. Such a beautiful young couple with so much ahead of them.
pete...I believe it is more about the treatment of Palestinians in Gaza than outright antisemitism. It's more anti Isreal - especially the current government.
melv...The shooting was certainly not antisemitic, but it was anti-Zionist.
pack...This is not antisemitism this is antizionism and the fact that you write about this and not the 14,000 children starving to death at the moment because of Israel show how anti people of colour and muslim you are.
kenn...Anti-Genocide is not antisemitism.
boma...Antisemitism is part of the Ivy Leaque curriculum
m.oz...Israel Zionist is committing genocide. The world is against genocide

Should tax cuts be prioritized over social welfare programs like food stamps?

  • 69% No, social welfare programs are essential
  • 31% Yes, tax cuts stimulate economic growth

EmailComments
mitt...Tax cuts when we have an enormous deficit. Cuts to the I.R.S. which limit collection of taxes. Increases in military spending when we are not at war and are disengaging as the world's police force. Yet, we won't take care of our own who need it most. Absolutely disgraceful and insane.
lora...Tax cuts are good to stimulate growth. We should eliminate all social welfare programs unless they have a work requirement. too many people take advantage of these programs and the politicians take kick backs from these programs for their own wealth.
uska...The true test of a civilized nation is how we treat the poorest among us.
dana...We pay into Medicare and social security . The GOP are stealing from working Americans to give tax breaks to the richest Americans. It’s disgusting and a disgrace.
cvon...We’ve had fifty years or more of the GOPs economic failures. Enough already.
sara...Absolutely NOT. Trickle down theory is an absolute canard pushed by Republicans to effect a transfer of wealth upward to the very rich, who don't need more money More than 40 years' insistence in this unproven mythology has left the US immiserated, with millions of working poor people barely scraping by, crumbling infrastructure, and the obscene parading of untold wealth by a tiny fraction of our population. To insist on continuing down this road is to push our country over the brink of distinction and discord- look at the smart money exiting our bond market because they recognize the folly of this proposition.
john...What a biased question. Do all of these tax cuts aggregate to yes or no to food stamps?
melv...Tax cuts only further burden the country. We need more income to fund programs. It doesn't make sense to cut taxes.
abda...Continuing fraud and abuse in social services without economic growth will bankrupt our country and end all social services
gwal...The people that are responding no are libtards and don't understand that the more tax cuts we give, helps our economy grow and lower inflation. The hard working American Taxpayer pays for the welfare programs, which is wrong.
ther...Social welfare has gone off the rails, with individuals receiving benefits that programs weren’t intended to assist. Also, the biggest beneficiaries of the proposed tax cuts are the lowest income bracket. Please let people that know how to catalyze prosperity continue to run things, and stop enabling handouts to those that don’t need them so that the programs can help those that do.
trag...While I do stand to benefit significantly from the proposed tax cuts I would gladly go without them in order t o live in a society where human beings are treated with humanity, where they can get help when it is needed and where we value health enough to make healthcare accessible to all through programs like Medicaid and the ACA.
mary...Trump is worthless
pamb...If wages could support a family we wouldn’t have to have these services, however, many employees would not survive without assistance. I believe in “workfare” if a person can do a job
lass...It’s outrageous that we would let poor people starve and not get health insurance. It’ll end up costing all of us a lot more money with a can pay their bills. Especially when the rich do nothing for anybody else but themselves.
zack...Social welfare in the U.S. has become bloated and full of fraud. Clean it up!!!! Taxpayers should not have to pay for capable people. “Biden” Admin imported millions of poor people into this country, who’s paying for them as well?
jrv1...Need work solutions to those who need help, not handouts
bret...Social programs should be reviewed and reformed as needed to best meet the needs of Americans while reducing fraud and abuse. Tax cuts are unnecessary but reasonable for middle class Americans when the economy begins to stagnate.
aper...The bill is a disgrace!
susa...No society should reward the rich and punish the poor. There needs to be a leveling out of the huge income disparities.
19pi...No this plan is to help the rich get richer
usct...Cutting the bottom out of the social safety net for a tax cut for the wealthy reflects the moral bankruptcy of Trump and the Republican Party.
tubi...any tax cuts to social services should be mirrored in cuts to capital spending such as military aid, govt pay increases, etc.
jose...The wealthy do not need more tax cuts.
cica...The tax cuts are a joke. The GOP is throwing a few peanuts on the floor for us working people meanwhile assholes like Howard Lutnick get big fat billionaire tax cuts that they don’t need. It’s greed.
mast...Fraud in social programs should be scrutinized so that only those who are truly needy get benefits
erwi...I am a yes and no on this topic. Certain welfare benefits have been abused and the lack of proper controls that are in place costs taxpayer's money. As for tax cuts, sure that would be great but it's always a political statement by all Administrations with very little benefits. All this does is create more issues for a group of people who are already struggling.
jbla...Government of the people by the people and for the people!
tere...We are family
bfph...It’s time to stop the increasing amount of fraud in welfare problems. It’s out of control. Too many people abuse the system when they could work for a living, like the rest of us
juli...Billionaires do not need more than they have. Social welfare programs protect people from starvation and homelessness.
grac...Tax cuts are great for the rich and do not stimulate economic growth. It’s a way to bankroll the GOP supporters.
kh5d...What even kind of question is this? 30% of people think that tax cuts for billionaires are more important than programs that literally feed children? Disgusting. It's irresponsible to pose this as an either-or question. You're normalizing people thinking this is acceptable.
swjo...The real answer is NO to both options for an answer! Some social welfare programs are essential but right now there is widespread abuse. Tax cuts do stimulate economic growth Balancing the budget is more important and should be done without either of these as a priority.
4tam...The question is to narrow. Social welfare is important but we can do both if we spend more responsibly.
rola...MAGA is always greed before need.
geor...Actually tax cuts for the wealthy don’t help the economy. We learned over the years that trickle-down economics doesn’t work. And even if they did, the real question is it right to take basic needs from those less fortunate? Christ gave us His answer in Matthew 25.
jrom...Don't like this question, as it seems to lead the reader in an obvious and emotional direction. Taxpayers should get to keep more of their money than the government takes. The programs proposed will cut tax PERCENTAGES that people pay, but the stimulation of the economy as they spend their money will create more tax DOLLARS to the government. Also, the cuts to programs are mostly about eliminating waste and fraud.
lkdn...Increase the tax on the top 1%. Eliminate carried interest.
pr37...the cuts in welfare and food stamps, medicaid are focused on removing fraud accounts and people on these programs that do not qualify. the disabled, legal residents, are not the targets.
tnkp...How much money do people making over 500,000 really need. Trickle down does not work. A year from now MAGA will become what were we thinking.
sims...I think we need to determine why people need assistance and work on solving those issues so it’s just not an endless revolving door process, but you have to make sure people have food and housing security
robs...What an ignorantly biased question! What you meant to ask is: Should abled body people capable of working for a living take welfare and food stamps away from people incapable of working for a living?
akrc...We shouldn’t rob from the poor to give even more to the rich who make their money off the backs if the poor
mary...We seeing the results of 40 years of “trickle down” economics right now and it ain’t pretty.
dshi...Social welfare, Medicare , and Social Security should not be decreased. With all the inflation and so many boomers , who paid into Social Security and now Social Security is their only income need these resources.
geos...Social programs are essential for the truly needy, but I believe the lax rules / weak enforcement and abuse / exploitation of the system by both states and individuals make the current system untenable. We have had poverty and social programs for over half a century and I have seen no overall improvement in the number of those considered impoverished nor any real improvement in social equity. Our shrinking middle class is disincentivized to work and all I see is a growing welfare state that folks consider an entitlement and that politicians of both parties use to curry votes. I am including Medicare and Social Security in the above comments. The latter should not be considered untouchable. We as a nation are "entitling" ourselves right into the poorhouse.
rfbu...The distribution of wealth and blight of Private Equity makes social services, unfortunately, absolutely necessary.
btaw...The tax cuts in question only stimulate economic growth for millionaires, and penalize majority of lower income earners. I do not believe there is widespread abuse of social welfare programs by individuals, though there may be opportunities to enforce EXISTING rules on eligibility. We should not cut programs essential to those whose NEED is justified. Cutting medicaid and medicare for millions is not the way to save, and obviously will not cover the tax cuts being given. This BBB will rock the deficit in a negative fashion!
egan...Trickle down economic has been proven to not work!
chri...Opposition to this Bill in congress should stand firm until it’s modified to include increased taxes and no loopholes for the top 3% billionaires
chiu...This is a lib site.
omeg...Social welfare programs cost money and without economic growth and more revenue the programs will not be funded, its simple math
t.sq...Tax cuts do not stimulate growth. Trickle down doesn't work.
