Just facts, you think for yourself

Do you believe space exploration will meaningfully benefit humanity within the next 50 years?

  • 47% Yes, it will lead to major breakthroughs

cmri...Exploration is in the DNA of humanity. It has yielded mostly positive results, save the times genocide was practiced. Finding out more about the universe around us is exhilarating and who knows what we will discover.
jrfu...We have untold issues here on earth that need to be resolved, problems that are real, identified and critical and to divert funds to something that is not necessary at this time is wrong IMO.
coll...$62M is a lot of money, but it’s hard to say what they are looking for or what is the actual intended mission/findings. Maybe it’s something substantial. But that could certainly feed a lot of people or pay for a lot of education.
leet...I think scientific advancements will be made which will eventually and cumulatively benefit humanity, but I don't see it significantly improving humanity in my lifetime.
john...A waste of tax dollars.
arth...How far has aviation, information and other technology, advanced in 50 years? To think another 50 years will not make a meaningful impact isn’t just dumb, it’s quite frankly stupid!
mike...Perhaps the media needs to spend more time publishing results from the vast number of missions that have been made in space and balance it with the number of failed missions. Seems the failed missions garner more attention.
mary...It’s fascinating and entertaining, but not much more
rgar...Its a lot of money with little return.
brod...It will not revolutionize human life, nor will it provide humans with an exit from the planet that they are ruining. Still, space exploration is important.
rgto...Freeze-dried ice cream was a bust, so - meh.

Should compounding pharmacies be allowed to make cheaper versions of weight-loss drugs?

  • 86% Yes, patients need affordable options
  • 14% No, it undermines pharmaceutical innovation

EmailComments
bdda...There will be no new innovated drugs
babe...pharmaceutical innovation so they can take our money and then charge outrageous prices for the drugs we paid for but can't afford, even with insurance
lind...These drugs are helping so many people who either dont have insurance or cant afford it, even with insurance, this is greed at its finest. SIckening
dan....Lack of competition keepsprices high. But if that many people need a prescription drug for weight loss, there is a bigger problem.
dajo...Its not safe either. These are sterile injectable drugs that should be regulated by FDA. Compounding pharmacies are not regulated.
amy....Compounding pharmaceuticals are unsafe! There is no monitoring of raw ingredients- think china and fentanyl, and these are patent protected products. If you want the product lily makes it affordable. They have a patent so why should others benefit from the million that lily spent on R&D?!
ange...There is a happy medium in this. The medications should not be out of reach for those without insurance. For most even 500$ per month is a stretch in any 3 month term use of a medication. We need to consider both innovation being rewarded and affordability of the medication for the population it is intended for.
rsta...Yes. This would help people who are unable to get a prescription from their doctor, or don't have health insurance coverage as there are many benefits besides weight loss.
mich...The greedy pharma is overcharging Americans by horrendous amounts. It is time they were brought to heel. Laws are required to prevent this boundless price gouging of citizens.
9812...I thought there was a 17 life on new trademark medicine
amya...If they are going to ban compounds then they need to significantly lower the price of the drug they produce. What happened to no monopolies? Monopolies by one company cause pricing to be sky high.
tric...Pharmacy companies could easily make it affordable
jodu... Big Pharma needs a little humility and humanity.
migu...Its intellectual property. It should be protected for a designated amount of time. Its not fair that a company spends millions on R&D and when they actually develop a drug that works (because most don't make it past clinical trials) that another company can come and compound it and make it. This kind of ruling would discourage pharmaceauticals from investigating new costly treatments.
apph...Yes. Of all drugs. Aren’t pharmaceutical companies wealthy enough? We need affordable healthcare and drug options.
susa...And patients will become healthier but achieving a healthy weight.
rgar...Another example of big pharma ripping off US citizens
arth...One of the major reasons for health costs in the U.S. skyrocketing is the extreme profits being made by pharmaceutical companies. Their profits far exceed their development cost of drugs.
cmes...because everyone on the FDA is former drug company employees and will leave the FDA and go back to those companies in the future. Its a rigged game with tons of nepotism and abuse of the system for personal gain. Eli Lilly is faced a deck stacked in their favor with ZERO resistance from anyone so Lilly wins no matter what and the billions flow to them again. No challenger.
pjsm...Diabetes is a huge danger in the US and coming soon to other countries that import US fast foods. The US must STOP subsidizing corn which leads to a cheap health damaging product that can be made to imitate food.
aeva...Medicines are too expensive.
erwi...This is a sign of legal monopoly when a government grants exclusive rights to a company and corporate giant control prices. It is legal. Unfortunately, patients always beed affordable options, which in this case is not currently possible unless there are other non-related formulas.

Do you think the pace of human evolution is driven more by environment or by intelligence?

  • 51% Environment
  • 49% Intelligence

EmailComments
pjsm...Intelligence in reacting to environment.
mary...The human brain has mutated beyond anything needed for survival and we are now behaving like an auto immune disease attacking our own self
kabm...Actually, God created us with both a beneficial environment and intelligence at the same moment. I don't believe in millions and billions of years of evolution. All human being are human beings from the moment of Creation and the environment and intelligence were necessary to have from the beginning to survive. And there IS plenty of evidence that GOD created everything. By the way, I AM a scientist and know plenty of scientists that know God created all there that there is.
shei...Both
bcar...Actually it's BOTH! Since my definition of Intelligence is the ability to cope with your environment.
bill...Environment drives the pace of human evolution but intelligence suggests a creator. I chose the wrong answer by mistake but it doesn’t matter because the question is not based in reality anyway.
kevi...Its both... the answer is both.
alex...I’d say it’s a good mix of the two.
pmge...It certainly is intelligence based on what is happening in the US!
