lora... | The US government has been too generous to China on tariffs to ensure low prices for US consumers who are too stupid to realize we giving China everything to become the World leader ahead of the US. |
pmar... | Well understood that in foreign markets, China often sells below cost to kill competition and create themselves as a monopoly seller. Within China, they force foreign companies to reveal trade secrets and knowledge, then use this to favor their own companies against foreign companies. They also aggressively steal IP. Autos, computers, business software, search engines, financial software…. The trade imbalance is the result of an enemy nation- state ( with a country full of wonderful and industrious people.) |
alex... | Trump's a fucking idiot. |
erwi... | It is both. Since there is no policy in place, China can do whatever they want. On the other hand, it's cost over goods sold. The reason the US has such a large deficit with China is because US businesses lower their cost by getting their goods from China. And from the Chinese consumers, it's cheaper to buy China-made goods which are shipped to the US anyway. There are also Chinese policies in place to reduce the purchase of US products. By putting trade policies in place to even out trade purchases, it helps the United States. |
jose... | Finally America got a person with balls. I am registered Democrat and they are so weak its gross. look at NYC, California, and Oregon state you can be hippy or liberal, but you do n0t trash your own state. |
atsh... | Tariffs and Costs: Imposing tariffs on foreign goods increases the cost of everyday items. According to the Tax Foundation, recent tariffs have raised consumer prices by approximately 2.3%, costing the average U.S. household about $3,800 annually. This can lead to higher living expenses and potentially contribute to inflation. Wage Pressure: As costs rise, businesses need to increase wages to help workers afford their lifestyles. This creates a cycle of rising prices and wages, placing additional pressure on businesses and consumers alike. Strategic Focus: Instead of engaging in trade wars over low-cost, everyday goods, the U.S. should invest heavily in high-value industries like alternative energy, electric vehicles, and AI. By focusing on these sectors, the U.S. can lead in innovation and global competitiveness. For instance, the global renewable energy market is projected to reach $1.1 trillion by 2027, and dominating this sector could secure a significant economic advantage. Automation and Jobs: Even if tariffs bring manufacturing back, there's no guarantee of significant job creation due to automation. Many companies may automate production to maintain margins, which benefits corporations more than workers. The Brookings Institution estimates that up to 25% of jobs in the manufacturing sector could be automated by 2030, reducing the expected employment gains from reshoring. Future Outlook: By investing in advanced sectors, the U.S. can dominate emerging industries, secure its economic future, and create sustainable, high-quality jobs. This approach is preferable to competing on low-margin products. For example, the AI market is expected to grow to $190 billion by 2025, offering vast opportunities for job creation and economic growth. |
dols... | Trumps policies are ruining our country. |
jllm... | Just because trump doesn’t have a clue, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t, expect it , invest appropriately |
bria... | A worker assembling iPhones in China makes about $3 per hour. That work is not going to be done in the USA. We have only about 4.2% unemployment right now. If US Citizens wanted these jobs, we wouldn't have enough people to fulfill them all. This trade war is idiotic! It will only increase prices for US consumers. In addition as other countries put in place retaliatory tariffs, it will be less expensive for some goods manufactured for sale outside the US to be made elsewhere! This is a lose - lose proposition for the US. The stock markets and business leaders know it... Trump is just not smart enough to listen! MABA - Making America Bankrupt Again |
plgi... | The world is flat. In the absence of government restrictions, capital will find the location where goods of an acceptable quality can be produced at the lowest delivered cost |
cica... | Yes, it’s a failure of Republican policy for the last 50 years. Republican policies beginning with Reagan, concentrated wealth upwards to the top two or 3%. While the rest of us suffered. It wasn’t Democrats who moved all the factories out of the Midwest. Those were Republicans sitting on those boards. |
jodu... | Unfortunately, there is a lot of ignorance attached to this whole affair. |
mpda... | There is a master plan here. China thinks into the next few generations. The USA is finally getting that and realizing we must do the same. |
rgar... | They are the results of past Globalist policy failures. |
derr... | Trump is negotiating these trade & tariff imbalances... chillout a few weeks and let him work!! |
moue... | Many people who work for foreign companies in the USA will lose their jobs . |
ebr.... | It's just Trump trying to start some stuff to "fix" it and take credit. Trade deficits are regular. He's just spreading lies. |
bret... | Economics |
serg... | Corporate America was outsourcing all manufacturing. What other expectation was possible other than a huge deficit |
drus... | Shows lack of diplomacy |
amar... | Expected outcome due to flawed implementation of policies |
atli... | China is poised to take over the sale of electric cars around the world, with the BYD offering buyers an inexpensive and effective way to fight climate change further making the US the enemy of sanity. |
arth... | Tariffs are caused when consumers buy less expensive products from foreign countries to the detriment its own products. That’s the simple boil down of the problem. American’s just take advantage of cheaper stuff. Sure its outcome is to be expected. We’ve done it for decades and turning it around will hurt the American pocketbook. |
zack... | Started in the 80s then really took off during Clinton. Our government sold our industrial empire (backbone of middle class) out to China. We clearly didn’t learn anything from the Covid scam either. How and Why are we so dependent on our biggest political and ideological advisary? Our politcations sold us out! Trump wants to take it back and sheep lose their minds. |
jra9... | While it is likely a failure of policy and an expected outcome. The failure to enhance the US labor force with legal immigration and lack of investment over the last 60 years to maintain manufacturing and rising technical capability is one aspect. Additionally, the heightened focus on shareholder outcomes above all else has pushed jobs and supply to other parts of the world. |
bcar... | Trump’s deranged tariff policy is causing global chaos |
aran... | It's like what happened with cars. We made huge boat cars that sucked up gasoline like crazy. Then the Japanese made smaller cars that got great gas mileage. The rest is history. I don't know that it's a failure of "policy"--it's been a failure of American manufacturing to offer well-made, well-designed goods at prices middle Americans can afford. |

- 34% Acceptable

regi... | Perhaps a formula; age+plus income =this percentage of your Medicare cost will rise. For some of our elderly, who are living on a lower level of fixed income , the percentage increase can make a difference in their buying power and sense of independence. |
jfeg... | Cost containment simply means the providers have to absorb the loss. Reimbursements need to be balanced so that providers aren't forced out of business and costs remain "reasonable" to the members. |
cica... | You can trust in one thing: virtually everything, the Trump administration does is to benefit either Donald Trump or his rich cronies the oligarchs |
arth... | American healthcare, particularly doctors and hospitals are in a bind, quality wise. Sure stocks are up because demand for care is getting greater. The percentage of people unable to pay for their care but accessing emergency services where federal law mandates they be treated, is rapidly rising. |
zack... | It is a failed system no matter what we do. We should try not murdering people around the world and use that money for citizens only healthcare |
brya... | Find the fraud and prosecute. |
kago... | All things go unleashed when the costs run amuck. Find the issues and solve the problem before allowing reimbursements to flow. |
lora... | The government should stop the consolidation of hospitals in the US and to put in tort laws to protect doctors and hospitals from lawsuits which would lower medical costs by at least 30%. |
tubi... | cost containment at management level. if funding is to be given, give it to the people who need and will use that money. |
pmar... | WSJ investigations uncovered millions of dollars of fraud by the providers in this very area. Shame on Oz and Trump- feathering their own nests. |
lawe... | Why isn't the self proclaimed master negotiator setting the stage for Medicare and Medicaid to negotiate rates? |
jllm... | If cost containment means finding out why they overcharged the government 1.1 trillion dollars last year, then yes cost containment |
s.be... | The healthcare arena has changed. Big Pharma and the third party payors are setting standards and reimbursements. Healthcare facilities are being squeezed to the determent of the patient. There needs to be oversight into the large pharmaceutical organizations and large medical insurance organizations. Publicly traded entities, especially in healthcare and insurance, are manipulating reimbursements in order to increase their profitably. |
mega... | Medicare reimbursement to healthcare providers is deplorable and should be prioritized in order to maintain a decent workforce of healthcare providers. |
kbki... | Health care corporations have record profits and don’t need funding |
ckpa... | Conservative approach and trying to look after the retired consumer!!!!! |
ron.... | Cost containment is always the answer, if not, spending could go out of control. |
drus... | The government works for the people not the corporations |
mspu... | Costs are out of control and Medicare recipients are usually not in the position to refute or evaluate their bills. Our aged and elderly are being taken advantage of. |
kenv... | Practitioner’s compensation with private healthcare is based on a a percentage of Medicare. We can’t afford to have reimbursements go down with today’s inflation driving the cost upward. However, costs are out of control and need to be reigned in. I believe the “fraud” is a lot more than we think with the big insurers using all types of technologies to up the billable services. |
atli... | Money going to private Medicare Advantage Plans supports their high overhead costs while weakening traditional Medicare. It's a plan to further enrich the wealthy. |
serg... | Cost containment will not decrease corporate profits |

tubi... | US relations are terrible in the region and need to just stay the hell out and stop sticking its nose in other countries business for the sake of enrichment of a few. |
cica... | Iran isn’t an only-American problem. Iran is a problem for the world and the world needs to help solve it. |
ebr.... | Trump doesn't know how what he's doing, so to prevent World War 3, there should always be a third party involved. |
atli... | Trump's zero sum approach to negotiations will only end in a weak and faulty conclusion or none at all. |
zack... | Trump and Biden’s own departments say Iran isn’t close to a nuke. Yet Biden and Trump have repeatedly said otherwise. It’s like we just do whatever Israel wants |
serg... | With Trump always deal directly |
jllm... | If you mean trump is in charge of direct negotiations. Start building your bomb shelter. |
lawe... | Israel should take the lead. |

cica... | I still don’t think the experts are wrong. There is a lot of loneliness in America. Being alone and being lonely or two different things. There have been many articles written about conspiracy theories, and the people who believe in them and often they’re lonely people looking for community that they’re not finding in their daily lives., for whatever reason. |
jllm... | Forced time alone is detrimental to your life and have to be addressed relatively quick . Human contact is essential for mental health. |
cand... | There is a difference between alone time and total solitude. I find that alone time to be absolutely lovely and needed for myself. I typically have an active lifestyle with lots of interaction with others. However, I do believe that complete or long times of solitude would be detrimental to health. We are meant to interact with others. |
rgar... | Everybody needs some alone time. Eerybody also needs someone to share time, emotions and thought with. |
sara... | I need it to be able to then be with others happily and fully present |
zack... | “In 2023, the surgeon general called loneliness an epidemic, yet many still value solitude.“ Literally talking about two different things here. 🤦🏼♂️ |
