How do you feel about this move in light of the recent terror attack in Colorado?
- 50% It’s a necessary precaution
- 50% It punishes innocent individuals

---|---|
cgeo... | What are we becoming? The cruelty and glaring bigotry of this order is stunning.. |
dsde... | These emails are very pro democrat and lean far left |
nosk... | I also see it as important health wise. |
atlr... | Why would we allow people from countries that hate us! |
srot... | Illegal immigration is against the law. Come in legally and then you have rights. |
chel... | It’s illogical to ban an entire nation from travel to the United States based on a politically motivated and violent attack by a mentally ill person. I’m tired of this administration using my Judaism as a weapon to further racist policies. |
laur... | I cannot believe how many respondents feel a travel ban against tens of countries is warranted. The level of bigotry and xenophobia in the US right now is astounding. |
2ali... | This is sadly just the world we live in today... our reality. |
hfgu... | If your family members were the ones that got burned in Boulder Colorado, there is a good chance you wouldn’t feel that innocent civilians were being punished! |
barb... | This decision isn’t based on any evidence, only prejudice. |
lrdi... | Neccessary but many of the wrong places. |
rgar... | Well over 50% of your lib readers have some sence of practicality. |
ctwh... | As far to brought a band and seems inherently racist, give them the nature of the countries |
loui... | America first. We're under attack. |
jenj... | While I respect and admire Trumps strength to keep America safer and bring back respect for our country, our people and our economy, I only wish there was a more efficient process to protect the innocent individuals that will be highly affected by this. It’s entirely unfair in that respect. |
sere... | Old saying: It's too bad that a couple of bad apples can ruin a perfect bin of good apples. But you always have to get rid of the bad ones for the good of the good ones. Criminals must be penalized or the bad apples will continue to rot the whole bushel. What do we do with bad apples? Remove them permanently. |
cgat... | Admin is using this as a distraction as none of these nations are a proven gateway for foreign bad actors. |
susa... | Once again the war on people of color. I am a Jew in America . This is not a way to get the support of American Jews |
lane... | Egypt isn't even on the travel ban list and that is where the Colorado terrorist was from. This is out and out harrassment. |
toms... | Trump is a racist fool |
chas... | This question is disingenuous, leading, and harmful. The Colorado attack suspect is an Egyptian national, and therefore not from any of the countries on the ban list. Using this language serves the Trump administration's goals of artificially connecting that tragic incident to the ban, essentially using a domestic attack as an excuse to enact blanket limitations on mainly Muslim-majority nations not linked to the alleged attacker. |
alwa... | The attacker in Colorado was from Egypt, which is not a country on the ban list. Also, many attacks we have are from people internal to the country! There are people from other countries that have family here or need asylum, this blanketed ban will hurt innocent individuals more. |
june... | The recent terror attack in Colorado was done by a man from Egypt. Yet Egypt is not on the restricted list. So this restriction doesn't make sense. What is the real reason? |
klod... | It's not a punishment. No foreigner has the right to travel to the US. |
mibi... | It has nothing to do with the person from Egypt. |
marg... | Just wait until there’s a mass shooting by one of these illegal immigrants…..the Left will be screaming it’s all Trump’s fault. Wake up, people! |
aliq... | If the idea of ban is to protect us from terrorists then why isn’t travel from Israel banned? They have the biggest and worst terrorists in the world. |
kjor... | We should protect and be protected |
dels... | The perpetrator was from Egypt, but they're not in the bank! |
lora... | Biden and the Democrats opened the border and put all Americans at risk for a terrorist attack, increased crime, illegal drugs. Now Trump and our tax dollars are trying to clean up this mess to protect Americans. We do not need these people in our country. |
krip... | If I felt that any real authentic research was done in making this determination perhaps I would feel differently. However I doubt any real authentic research was made in making this decision. |
pain... | People need to stop acting like terrorist attacks are an everyday part of life. Something has to stop it. |
kerr... | It’s a shame that the actions of a few affect the lives of many, but it has been that way throughout history. I totally agree with the ban. There have always been evil people in this world… |
lane... | Regardless of who is affected by the travel ban, I think the question is fundamental fairness and access to growth |
msel... | Our security is only as good as the weakest “link” in the process. If other countries are lax then we need to pick up the difference. |
nanc... | The person who carried out the attack in Boulder was from Egypt, which isn't on the list of trump's travel bans. He's targeting Africans and Muslims, just like he did in his first term. |
rach... | Scary times |
degg... | Notice that the restrictions are countries whose populations are people of color! |
toot... | It is better to be safe than sorry |
fcse... | Hamfisted brutality. |
robe... | Protecting the citizens of this country outweigh foreign travelers. |
rola... | The person was from Egypt which is not even include in ban....Trump manipulating fear and bigotry. |
gree... | I believe in freedom of travel. We can and should have our own screening process, which should be robust but fair. |
gina... | It protects all Americans. |
chad... | Trump is a moron. He doesn't know where most of those countries are. |
prab... | It is reactionary and doesn't address the issue at all just like everything else he does. |
kath... | It is cruel, unjust, unnecessary and essentially puts the US down several rungs on the ladder of decency and global leadership. It is Stephen Millers childhood dream fulfilled. Evil at its finest. |
howa... | Trump is looking for a distraction from his big ,beautiful bill so does something outrageous! |
lynn... | It was our own lax oversight that alllowed this man to stay here after his visa expired. Why blame others?! |
deba... | He’s out of control! |
card... | These countries would not even take their deported citizens (specifically those who were proven to be criminals) back, they were relieved to be rid of them and would not want the expense of incarcerating them to protect their own citizens (who can blame them?)...but if they won't vet their own citizens and don't really care for welfare of citizens of other countries that their crime-prone citizens may harm, what security would a foreigner visiting their country have? It does hurt and inconvenience those who have to travel to these countries for work or to visit their families--they do so at their own risk, higher risk because the US will not come to their rescue if they are kidnapped nor will it seek justice if they are killed or harmed. |
kvas... | It's another knee-jerk (emphasis on jerk) by TACO, which is the reason he is now known as TACO. He makes rash over-generalizations and reaches illogical conclusions then backs off when someone around him with half a brain (not many for sure) tells him the consequences of his actions. Thinking and analyzing are not in his wheel house. |
fern... | We need to swing the pendulum over to a more restrictive position until the Federal government is able to establish a semblance of control over who cones into our country. Once that happens, we should be able to manage those restrictions in a controlled way. |
elai... | However if a country improves its screening process to acceptable standards it should be removed from the banned list |
aper... | Fear mongering! |
a.w.... | How are the DRC and Haiti included in this list. Out of compassion for many refugees we should be helping these countries. Also are there any Afghanis who helped the US affected by this order? They still may need our assistance. |
ayo.... | Travel bans are a blunt tool; they bloodies instead of cutting |
jabl... | Also should temporarily ban all foreign student visas |
feli... | Trump's bans are deplorable making the U.S. one of the unfriendliest countries in the world. |
Should the management of genetic data be considered a public good rather than a commercial commodity?
- 71% Yes, genetic information should be a public good.
- 29% No, it should be treated as a valuable commercial asset.
Comments | |
---|---|
moji... | The information should be managed and maintained to protect the safety of individuals and to empower researchers. To enable this there will need to be clear rules of engagement in addition to the technical maintaince of the database, which will are a mixture operating and capital expenses. However, creative solutions for funding those expenses can be set up that won't compromise making the information available for all qualified researchers, not just those backed by a single pharmaceutical company. |
clai... | There should also be a requirement that genetic data be fully anonymized (only I should have the « key » to my personal genetic data) |
mdul... | The mapping of the human genome resulted in an asset held in the public domain. There were numerous steps that led to that outcome, easily found through some simple Google searches (e.g. - Human Genome Project Principles and 2013 SCOTUS ruling). |
hfgu... | To me this is hilariously funny. Really you’re giving people your DNA and you expect this to turn into a public good? On what planet do you all live? First off this is a commercial enterprise. This company was created specifically to make a profit!! You don’t think so? Just asked the NON-Profit CEO how much money they made? There was never any promise of keeping your DNA away from any organization that may use it for nefarious purposes, but yet you gave it away freely so you get to endure the fruits of your stupidity. Jeesh I can’t wait till some of you people apply for life insurance, then the insurance company scans your DNA and says hey did you know your Gene number 3502 is a precursor of cancer, so therefore your insurance will cost three times as much as anybody else’s. Now let’s apply that same thing to health insurance. Yeah, is the picture becoming a little bit clearer now? And don’t tell me that this is not going to happen ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha |
carl... | I don’t want my private info in public display |
How do you feel about the current state of the U.S. economy?
- 74% Pessimistic about future growth
- 19% Optimistic about recovery
- 7% Neutral
Comments | |
---|---|
hfgu... | Bloomberg has never been an unbiased source for where the economy is going. Anytime you can cut government taxes and lower the prices on all kinds of different goods and commodities. The economy will start to boom! The LIBERAL media WILL ALWAYS SAY THAT WE HAVE A CRISIS, OR WE HAVE DECLINING REVENUES, ETC.. IT’S HOW THEY MAKE THEIR MONEY. HEY, WHY DON’T YOU BRING BACK THE GLOBAL WARMING HYSTERIA? MY FAVORITE EXAMPLE OF THE LIBERAL MEDIA IS HOW THEY LOVED TESLA, AND THEN WHEN MUSK JOINED WITH TRUMP TO WIN THE ELECTION, THEY TRIED TO CRUCIFY HIM. YEAH THE MEDIA IS NOT BIASED. IS IT? |
lane... | Trump administration needs to get focused on the world in the current time. He’s so old he can’t think past 1950 |
fcse... | The effect of tariffs cannot be halted even if the tariffs are. |
hgra... | As long as we center growth as success we will continue to erode American and human culture, including our planets ability to sustain us. I long for economic coverage that does not assume that growth is good. |
jame... | Self induced recession. |
shaa... | Trump’s increase in US debt is insanity. He has alienated us from the world. He is destroying our government and financial stability. |
rola... | Trump will tank the economy. |
dsar... | Trump’s actions create chaos |
geof... | Trump’s tariffs are a disaster for the economy and everyone knows it, hence the contraction. |
ttim... | Moving in right direction, employment higher and long range profits ahead. |
davi... | We are moving in the right direction |
lora... | Trump will fix the economy. If the courts and the democrats get out of the way, he will also resolve our debt crisis. Biden and the Democrats ruined our economy and caused severe inflation which resulted in many retirees needing to unretire to make ends meet. Look who is working at every grocery store, Lowes, Home Depot etc. Elderly people who should be enjoying retirement. |
aper... | The current regime needs to go! |
mpho... | Tariffs are going to crush small businesses |
nanc... | All the uncertainty is having an averse effect on business decisions. |
nosk... | I have seen some good. Gas in our area has come down. |
bret... | Trump policies are a disaster. Deficits will explode higher. Treasury yields will ramp higher on the long end of the curve. Foreign buyers will avoid US travel and US products. Wealthy Americans will continue leaving for less expensive countries. |
tere... | Right into the ditch, again |
kevm... | We have a clueless leader with visions of turning us into a monarchy and a house and senate with no guts who can only think about re-election and not doing what’s best for the blue collar workers. |
cb10... | All because of the fact that trump and his admin do not know what they are doing and are purposely destroying everything. |
kvas... | TACO is the 21st century Hoover and the American Hitler. He is actively attempting to destroy American democracy and doesn't care if he takes the economy down with it. The next few years are going to hurt, and I'm not sure how many more years it will take to recover. |
zach... | Incompetent leadership. |
Should users have the right to permanently delete all their chat data with AI services?
- 84% Yes, they should have full control.
- 9% No, data retention is necessary for legal reasons.
- 6% Unsure
Comments | |
---|---|
hfgu... | AI - doesn’t this stand for asinine intuition? Not quite sure what good is going to come of this the verdict is still out and here is just another example of a bad byproduct associated with artificial intelligence. And I haven’t even gotten started yet on the creators biases yet. |
laur... | Honestly, forcing a binary here is not helpful. I don’t like the broad retention implied in the openAI suit but if a user is suspected (with evidence, etc) of plotting or committing a violent crime or distributing CSAM, I don’t want them to be able to delete evidence. |
Do you think gene editing should be considered for routine treatments of genetic disorders?
- 73% Yes, innovative approaches are essential.
- 27% No, it should be reserved for serious cases only.
Comments | |
---|---|
ebr.... | Everyone wants a better world for the future generations. It helps rather than hinders development. |
pldm... | Knowledge is strength |
kzag... | When starting a new program it should be used on the most serious cases and then expanded with caution ! |
hfgu... | Well, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I don’t want my newborn infant to be a test baby for some kind of new gene therapy. Maybe 10 years from now on 10 million babies have been under the crisper knife. |
How do you perceive the role of academic research in solving energy-related issues?
- 92% Critical and necessary
- 4% Unsure
- 4% Limited impact
Comments | |
---|---|
nanc... | Not that we’ll benefit much from academic research going forward, between the cuts in research funding and ban on student visas and overall opposition to science in the trump administration. But that was the goal of Project 2025, wasn’t it? |
kzag... | Academic research is essential . That is where information is available and abundant. |
geof... | But still worthwhile … |
mdul... | I note that the vast majority of responses so far (85%) say that academic research is critical and necessary in solving energy-related issues and that is true. However, let's also not forget that Trump has, and continues to, attack science and research. More than 1,600 NSF grants, totaling over $1.5 billion, have been terminated since April, impacting research institutions and state universities and over half of these terminations are STEM education grants, totaling $773 million in funding loss. Climate is just one of the words that are no longer permitted in Trump's view of science so this fundamental work is likely to come to a halt soon. |
ttim... | Waste of tax payer money. Let private forces develop with favorable reward. |
pldm... | Use all means to solve problems and make better solutions. |
lora... | Our colleges and Universities are corrupt and are only interested in getting funds with no accountability. Let the private sector fix our issues with protecting the environment. |
