President Trump suggested dismantling ACA subsidies and sending money directly to people. What is your view on this proposal?

  • 67% Negative
  • 23% Positive

pjpa...The Govt has never & will never be as efficient as the private sector
crai...Sending subsidies directly to insurance companies hides the true cost. Visible issues are more like to be addressed.
morg...How do we know money will go to the right person?
mary...Another way for him to dismantle the ACA and grift somehow
pman...Basically - it’s socialism by an idiot- he never wants to solve problems - just get instant reactions - totally incompetent person to be leading us
sams...Not economically sound -
fisc...Ive been an employer that chose to give my employees an allowance , akin to what trump wants to do, for their healthcare expenditures. Rather than use it for healthcare insurance purchase, they spent it on consumables and decided to take the risk on healthcare cost. They WILL need healthcare but WILL NOT be able to afford it leaving the cost for their treatments to be covered by others.
cger...Trump understands that the ultimate goal of the Progressive Leftist Democrats is to have Government run single payer health insurance and that Obama Care was a terrible "baby" step towards that goal. It has not been successful in Great Britain, or Canada, but here we see 67% of the people still want it......sad how much the American people are just giving up. We have become a nation of LOSERS.
mdul...Anyone who has ever dealt with healthcare insurance knows what a completely nonsensical notion this is and how wholly inadequate such a payment would be. Note, though, that Trump has never had to deal with any kind of financial constraint on health care, making it easy for him to propose it.
jill...I don’t trust a word Trump says!
rayd...not enough detail for me to say I support it. But if Trump is suggesting a single payer system (the government) and getting rid of insurance companies, I'm all for it. The existence of insurance companies is what makes health care so expensive.
chri...Trump scratches his ass and mouths off poorly conceived contrarian ideas.
patr...Another Trump scam
kmmo...It is scary that politicians do not understand costs of insurance and how their small amount payment will do nothing to obtain insurance, especially when you have a pre-existing condition.
janb...It will not work and is short sighted measure.
katl...Trump does not care about the American people. He is trying to line his pockets with more of our money.
step...He’s a grifter. It’ll never happen he’s just trying to appease his followers.
dhil...The next logical step is universal health care for all.
fnpn...Obamacare is a joke
ajbu...Too many ACA recipients should NOT be receiving payments so hihh
bxfd...The negative responses are hypocrisy at its best! Why would anyone want to give these funds to the insurance companies rather than directly to the individuals who could purchase whatever coverage/insurance of their choice?
jule...The man breaks promises left & right there’s no reason to believe it would actually happen. Besides which, he’s fired/laid off anyone with the logistics expertise and knowledge who could actually implement such a complex plan.
swfo...Should be in the form of an account to draw from to pay premiums. Too easy to spend on other things if not tied to insurance payments.
mich...Democrats are idiots
tuck...Anything trump proposes only will he and his friends. That’s the only reason he does anything
jose...Where’s the GOP health plan?
ja4w...What the subsidy monies would be used for would not necessarily be health care related, defeating the purpose of the funds.
dmis...I guess I didn't understand the question. Why is sending checks to American citizens worse than funding a handful of Insurance companies that took huge profits.
trik...People requiring ACA subsidies may not have the means or understanding of the complex world of health insurance. Many will find that the money sent will not cover the costs of health insurance premium and therefore will go without health insurance. A direct payment to those truly needy may use the money for other more important needs.
jean...Let Amazon and Walmart offer insurance and people purchase themselves
mhsl...Having money in hand is temptation to pay bills, rent, auto insurance , groceries. Med insurance is not an immediately seen need so cash in hand in many cases will not be used as intended.
flda...Trump the 5th grade bully from Queens is trying to hurt everyone let’s stop him
tagi...He should be impeached. He's harmful to our country, not to mention lacking in intelligence.
deas...Works good the way it was set up.
usct...It’s another Republican attempt to kill ACA. They have no plan for replacement. A smart Republican would initiate universal health care based on Medicare with similar employee, employer, and government funding.
jaxl...Why would we pay insurance companies directly and let them make a profit- pure stupidity. Put the money back in the hands of the people- stop being false news
mrin...These survey result show how your base is all right wing idiots. I am blocking your communication.
tomp...People will spend the money on other things
trag...Payments to individuals wouldn’t be enough to cover the increased premiums and some people would spend it elsewhere and then need insurance. Subsidizing insurance, notably the ACA, allows the insurance companies to balance the profits from insuring young healthy individuals with the spent incurred by older, less healthy individuals and I think subsidizing insurance directly enables insurers to achieve this balance. It may not always work but can help.
lsen...Let people choose medical insurance like how they choose insurance for their vehicle
bjef...First, it's a con because no money will actually ever be forthcoming. It's being pushed out in a desperate attempt to make it looks like he cares. Second, sending money to people threatened with eviction, or no food on the table or, perhaps they really do have to have the latest greatest new cellphone with the idea they will put it in the bank and husband it for when they need it, just won't happen. So we get back to the fact that it's a con. oh, and 2,000 dollars means I had to work to earn 4000, to have it taxed away and returned to me. So lets consider that 4000 what can I buy with it. an MR scan and an ER visit? Maybe a day or two of cancer infusion thereapy. Medical insurance and all insurance is a shared risk pool. However you could actually eliminate 40% of the expense overnight, but the insurance lobby will never allow that to pass because it would cut them out of the equation and we all LOVE the precertification and denial process they give us in return. Anyway, 2k is a pittance as opposed to what medical care actually costs so it's a non starter for me and, come to think of it, I probably won't be receiving it since I have to pay higher taxes to make the money available, except, wait, it will never happen. anyway.
bria...Only if it goes to HSA accounts, to be used only for medical purposes.
rr.m...Trump continues his assault on America.
ther...The president is insane
jeff...Another absurd idea!!!
step...What a narrow-minded idea! The ACA subsidies are directly tied to healthcare benefits. Giving people the money does not guarantee it will be used to purchase needed health insurance.
kell...Issue isn’t money for individuals. It is that private health care won’t provide policies for people with preexisting conditions….especially self employed workers like myself cannot find coverage except via ACA despite being a high income earner.
del....Trump is a loser moron. Shameful president
dkg3...People who qualified for subsidies cannot afford to maintain insurance without the. It’s so frustrating. I’m one of them.
jpig...We need this program in place for citizens who do not have access to an Employer sponsored plan. It's unfair to punish people who have been on these plans by making them completely unaffordable. I will be voting accordingly to try to remedy the situation.
crla...Giving people free money has never been a good idea. The wants/needs of every individual could easily jeopardize adequate health care even more so than a stagnated government.
jmla...Nothing Trump does is designed to help anyone but himself.
fran...It’s likely that many of the direct payments to individuals will be used to make ends meet in lieu of health care. Thus the government will have spentmoney on “health care” and those individuals will remain uninsured. The strain of uninsured individuals on our health care system is huge. We need every eligible person insured to ensure a financially secure system.
fcse...Not the way to respond. Tell Republican Senators to throw a bone to Democrats on health care and end the shutdown.
rita...People will use that money for anything BUT insurance costs, like food, gas, entertainment and illicit drugs.
jlcg...This will just complete the sabotaging of ACA that he has stubornedly pursued since McCain blocked its destruction! ACA must be maintained alive and as healthy as possible as long as "Medicare for all" has not been voted and implemented.
suet...If people are given the money it will not be used to help offset the higher costs of healthcare. There are too many other needs people have that will take priority.
spr....It’s a dumb idea!
cesv...Bad idea. You don’t know when you gonna get sick
ed.g...No reason to expose checks to theft, delays, or being used for other than anticipated purpose.
pete...The only way to ensure that people who can't afford healthcare insurance actually get it is to subsidise the price of the product at source. Sending it directly to the people does not ensure they have healthcare insurance and may well prove insufficient to allow them to buy it.
matt...He lies alot
kenn...How much money exactly would be redirected, and how would the amount be determined per individual? Would direct payments/credits fully compensate for the benefits lost if insurer subsidies collapse? What safeguards would be in place to ensure low-income or high‐risk individuals are still covered and protected? How would this affect key ACA protections (like coverage for pre-existing conditions, essential health benefits, etc.)? What happens during the transition period? If the current subsidies expire before a replacement plan is in place, there could be significant gaps. Could states step in with their own marketplace protections or fill coverage gaps?
kari...The subsidies issue is just the expansion that was put into place during Covid, correct. When it expires, we go back to pre Covid aca. What is wrong with that?
ryan...Lets be real, Donald Trump has no good intention to anyone but the 1% plain and simple. Actions speak louder than words.
earl...US is way overdue for universal healthcare. Politicians have had many years since ACA creation and implementation to improve or replace it.
iren...$2,000 (or something like that) is not nearly enough to fund health insurance for a family. And the money could be used to make car payments or to put food on the table--instead of buying health insurance. Sometimes the choice is that stark.
greg...Just send like posturing by both sides.
nama...The 34 x convicted felon is not to be trusted, that’s why I am unsure
atli...This is absurd. We need single payer public health care without copays and without private health insurance involvement. Have we forgotten that health care has everything to do with health and nothing to done with wealth.
csbr...Trump is who real losers admire.
jbmj...If citizens knew these subsidiaries were going to the insurance companies not directly to the people the ACA would never have passed in the first place.
davi...Would enlarge goverment

Do sanctions targeting Russia’s energy sector effectively pressure Moscow to end the war?

  • 51% Yes
  • 49% No

EmailComments
tomp...Yes, but more pressure is needed
pete...Yes and No is the only correct answer. It does provide some pressure on Russia but, in and of itself, it's not sufficient.
wald...Russian Energy sales are going to china and India And then Europe buys it again at triple price
h.hu...Sanction haven't been effective for multiple years. It is delusional to think that sanctions are effective at persuading Russia. Russia has shrugged off sanctions to date.
chri...Yes but still too many holes in these sanctions, including Trump’s arbitrary and unwise allowing of Orban to evade while pressuring US allies to hold firm.
anti...Not with BRICS in the picture, and India continuing to love the significantly low cost of Russian oil.
trag...Russia is mostly interested in power and conquering territory. Energy isn’t equally important
nanc...They might if they were across the board, but our buffoon leader keeps giving extensions to his buddies, like Orbon. He can’t manage to focus on anything, hence the taco moniker.
lora...Russia will always have a market for their oil because Europe needs their oil. Sanctions on oil do nothing but adjust the trade routes which is done on paper and physically.
mdul...It's a necessary step but insufficient, given Trump's constant kowtowing to Putin. Even if, somehow, this was finally the time when Trump was going to stand up to Putin, it's much too early to tell if the increased tariffs will succeed where past efforts have not. I would add that we're not off to a good start on this point, with Trump already carving out exceptions.
cger...Selling oil is feeding the Putin regime, and India and China have been endorsing his crimes.
fcse...Putin understands only power. If he wins something from this war he will not stop.
dmar...This US proxy war against Russia could end if both countries recognized that the real war we both face is climate change.
crai...The energy sector is Russia’s main source of revenue. Impacting their economy is the only way to get them to make concessions.
jlcg...May be if they were going to be effectively implemented.
jrv1...Apparently not much pain. They are still fighting
remy...On what planet do you live to repeat nonsense like "Russia reported over 1.15 million troop losses since February 2022." citation needed! Russia never reported that many troop losses this is ridiculous.
bnig...I'd like to think so but, am not really sure. Whatever happens, Ukraine deserves to REMAIN WHOLE, including Crimea
kenn...Moscow continues the war-Despite the sanctions, Russia has not signalled a clear intent to end its military operations in Ukraine. Analysts are cautious: “The effectiveness is hotly debated, since Russia has proved able to continue its assault.” In fact, Russia has managed to adapt — finding alternate buyers, shifting export routes, and maintaining significant export volumes. Loopholes and gaps in enforcement-Many sanctions focus on seaborne oil; pipelines remain less affected or exempt in some cases, meaning substantial flows still exist. The so‐called “shadow fleet” of tankers, intermediary shipping, and non‐Western buyers reduce the choke‐point effect. Some importing countries are reluctant to cut Russian supply completely due to their own energy dependence, which weakens leverage. Sanctions take time; war calculus is complex Even large revenue hits don’t flip a government’s decision‐making quickly. Russia’s state has large reserves, alternate revenue streams, and can prioritize military spending over civilian welfare for some time. The link between energy revenue and war termination is indirect — many decisions depend on political will, national identity, territorial goals, and security perceptions, not just economics.
kimf...Putin hasn't stopped; therefore, no!

Would you personally choose a cheaper meal kit with private-label products or buy individual branded items separately?

  • 71% Individual branded items
  • 29% Cheaper meal kit

EmailComments
jfou...This is the problem with the USA. Even when they can get the same quality for less money, they complain because they think they are not getting the" best."
katl...Who knows the quality of the ingredients of the private labels. Trump is involved, it will be gross.
nanc...Some store brands are comparable to name brands. I will pick and choose based on my experience.
trag...By purchasing individual items I can purchase what I want, not what’s in a meal kit. I’d look for sales and would purchase some private label items to get more for ( hopefully) less.
nanc...I can afford to do this. Most people cannot. 42 million Americans need help and many of them are seniors or children. Our policies around this are a sham.
cger...Americans complain about the rise in food prices, blaming Trump, in spite of the 9% inflation rate which came during the Democrat run Biden administration. Then when offered a better deal, 70% refuse to take it. Most Americans are just like spoiled children. It's disgusting. I guess we deserve to fail as a nation.
ja4w...Private label items seldom deliver on taste or quality compared to branded items. I would purchase fewer items of good quality as opposed to risking an unappealing meal.
deas...Eat healthy!
csbr...Make America Starve Again - MAGA agenda
lora...Biden/ Harris policies caused this inflation issue for most Americans. Trump and republicans are fixing this issue but it will take time. People need to quit complaining and go to work and quit expecting a handout from the government
avaa...It has to be as healthy as possible
dpwo...Private label and brand items come from the same processors .
ebr....How bout don't eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal?
jaxl...For real- if people are choosing individual brands over cheaper bundles than they are not that worried about cost plain and simple.

Do you believe that crypto-treasury companies can sustainably manage volatility in digital assets long-term?

  • 73% No
  • 19% Unsure
  • 8% Yes

spr....Crypto is a complicated financial scheme that is traded more on emotion than technical comprehension and financial literacy. Who knows where these products play in the future.
nanc...Still believe it’s a big scam perpetrated by this corrupt administration.
chri...Avoid crypto!
trag...I don’t understand crypto but I have seen its value go down and back up again- that’s the nature of any market. You have to know when to let go and when to hold on, when to take a profit and when to take a loss. It’s not well suited to the individual investor, at least not this one, but needs fund managers who understand and know how to play the market- a full time endeavor.
fnpn...As much as I hate to admit it, cryptocurrency is the future.

swfo...twice a year for ongoing health of gums
nanc...Every 6 months.
nanc...Once a year for dentist. 3 times a year for cleaning. I floss almost every day. No gum disease as far as I know.
jack...every 4 months visit dentists
trag...Actually 4 times a year after some gum issues. This is largely preventive and fortunately covered by dental insurance
ja4w...Twice annually.
blue...Dental hygiene is one of the most important keys to maintaining our overall health. This must be taught in schools in lieu of any type of sexuality identity garbage. Vote for school choice to ensure your child’s best education and future.
obma...Every six months
chri...My dental hygienist sister will love this article!
