Just facts, you think for yourself

Do you believe Elon Musk’s $1 trillion pay package fairly reflects the risks and rewards of Tesla's ambitious growth targets?

  • 33% Yes

eric...Nobody needs that much money.
fedo...He will never acheive these goals.
spoo...How much money is enough ? How much money do you need to leave your heirs ? Power hungry people like Elon Musk can not get enough money. He already has a large fortune built by his company, Tesla. Build your company more than you build yourself. Your employees are the mainstay of your company. Share the wealth with them so they and their family can have a better life. You’ll be a much better person for doing so
chri...Fuck off he doesn’t deserve it gives nothing back to society a disgusting huma
aunt...This is ridiculous!!
cand...This is outrageous. No one and I mean no one deserves that kind of compensation especially when there is so much suffering in the world. If the company does that well, the money should be allocated to funding programs that reduce emissions around the globe. I do not believe a lesser package would dis-incent Musk from what to run the world.
brad...What a joke
jeff...Those are very hefty goals. If Tesla reaches all that the stock is going to have the value. Its not like they are writing a check.
srda...If he can master all of that, then more power to him.
tpri...Do you know everyone gets to 12x their investment? if he succeeds we all succeed
widm...This compensation package is sickening. No one person's contribution is worth $100 billion a year. The targets are quite ambitious and possibly unattainable, but your post does not include payout details for short deliverables. I would think this compensation package will demoralize the employees.
sher...No person is worth that much money.
tamp...Why not
jeff...He is a great con artist!!
john...You people are idiots
patr...It's obscene one person should be paid so much money.
patc...There are better men/women that are more apt to meet those benchmarks for less, & the pay package will be a detriment to global sales.-Tone deaf.
rita...No one deserves that much compensation - data points like the ones he’s tied to can be manipulated, environmental impacts aren’t reflected in these business ‘goals’. It’s obscene with so many problems around the world - yes, a person can go for as much as he/she can but use those talents for some good as well
jose...Obscene!
mkjb...Give him a trillion and he will invent five more companies.
ecal...With advancements in AI, robotics there are models predicting US unemployment rates at 20% and some as high as 35% within a decade. Without universal healthcare in the US and massive unemployment in a society where capitalism/consumerism is the driver of the economy why aren’t there discussions now on how to start preparing to support the population which in turn would support the economy? This pay package is short sighted and disconnected from the negative socio-economic calamity that awaits the US. Many other countries have already created programs that support their existing populations in terms of healthcare and other benefits whereas the US seems to be be going in the opposite direction. Having a large unemployed population should be highly concerning for all.
eliz...Socialist groupthink seems to be in vogue right now. And envy never seems to go out of style, as well…If Elon reaches those lofty goals (which will enrich all of his shareholders), why shouldn’t he be richly rewarded
tubi...there comes a point where the level of greed and sloth reaches insanity. we're there.
liss...This is precisely the kind of shameful greed that will demonstrate for everyone the superiority of the Chinese model over the winner-take-all American system.
csbr...The rise of the Nazi sympathizing trillionaire is coming true
what...Greedy gonna greed.
tton...No CEO on earth should earn that kind of pay regardless of performance. To reach Musk’s incentive targets, it takes an army of employees to deliver the results. Do they get similar pay raises? This is the kind of thing that destroys employee morale, hurts company image, and suggests corporate irresponsibility.
jkdi...He is the man with the vision
mich...He’s a greedy bastard, there is nothing that can justify this package. Also, these targets are ridiculous.
mdke...It’s a far reach to think that he can reach those sales
nanc...As a stockholder, I believe the success of the Tesla brand depends on Elon Musk’s presence and commitment to the company. Keep him happy!
avaa...This is ridiculous and that money should go to charity that needs it musk doesn't need a raise he should be sent back to Africa.
gaca...Like other business agreements: if you meet these targets, you will be awarded this and that. Colossal, yes, but Musk's contributions to the US and his companies has been colossal for one man. My liberal friends are already making faces and the same criticisms they used to make about Bill Gates' wealth. Eventually, Gates became a philanthropist, as would be the path for anyone so wealthy. Musk will, too. Cool your jets!
clif...The notion of a "fair $one trillion pay package" is self-contradictory and patently false. I reject the notion that any individual's efforts/achievements, even over the course of an entire lifetime, can fairly merit compensation on the order of $10^12, especially when other individuals must scratch out a mean existence in abject poverty. As a practical matter, a trillion dollars cannot be meaningfully enjoyed or wisely/efficiently invested by any single individual. No amount of Tesla's growth can possibly justify that pay package.
crai...I believe Elon Musk should be kicked in the nuts for his supportive Donald Trump and gleeful destruction of the federal government. I honestly believe he belongs in jail for stealing data from the American people and for multiple fatal accidents from Tesla “auto pilot””
mazy...Owner/founder/entrepreneurs who take all of the risk and suffer all of the slings and arrows are entitled to outsized gains PERIOD. Otherwise, what is the incentive to continue your take these risks?
bret...This completely disrespects every Tesla employee. It is especially a slap in the face to everyone involved in creating the technology required for humanoid robots, self driving cars, etc. Musk single handedly destroyed sales because of his political craziness. Now he is rewarded? I urge all key Tesla employees to quit. Design the technology for a company that values your hard work.
rtet...He's already the richest man in the world. But he's so fragile that he needs more. Money can't buy you love.
ltj....Too much for any one human
pman...It just shows that we as a species is so out of whack
juli...We don’t need trillionaires in this world.
tuck...No one deserves that kind of money. Even if his companies were privately held. He used his position to get huge government contracts and subsidies. The government doesn’t have money. It belongs to the taxpayers
jc44...Makes me ill that he gets a trillion and people are going without milk money. What have we become when worshipping the dollar is more important than human beings
jmla...No one earns that amount of money. They just steal it from shareholders. It’s called SAVAGE CAPITALISM. It should be a crime and it is!
jrv1...He has to deliver superior results to get paid. What’s wrong with that. Stock is available for everyone to purse if you wish to bet on his capability to get the job done
jona...Musk is well over the threshold of market damages exceeding market contributions. Any further holdings increase is not sensible.
jadu...Hey, if he can produce those numbers and the BOD agree, so be it
scin...Too much for one person pay the workers more
jcro...If the milestone growth is not met Musk does not get the money. People who say No are not smart enough to understand the question. If the company makes the money then he gets the money.
step...NO ONE deserves a $1 trillion dollar pay package.
lisa...Absurd
robe...Should be tied to the lowest paid position
case...I will eat him
swan...It’s truly so greedy and appalling. NO ONE NEEDS THAT MUCH MONEY.
jenl...The employee's package should reflect his risk and reward as well - there is no real risk this guy is undertaking. He's playing with the company and other people's lives, as usual.
lpea...He worked for it and deserves it.
atli...Increase the federal minimum wage to $50 per hour and establish a maximum wage of $500,000 per year.
mori...No one deserves pay like this. Its obscene. Tesla is losing market and it's because Musk is driving away 60% of potential buyers with his political messages. He wants to be rewarded for that?
suzh...This pay package is outrageous. Period. He’s destroying jobs. Destroying the environment. No one should be in agreement with this.
mdea...Who needs that much money
bosc...HOw much $$ is ever enough? The greedy just get greedier.....
ppoi...No person is worth $1 trillion dollars. It's disgusting. Oligarchy wrapped in a capitalist bow. The $1 trillion pay package should be spread across all employees if KPIs are met.
irin...Haters gonna hate
kati...So ridiculous. No one should make that much money when we have people who can't afford groceries or Healthcare. He should pledge half of that to charities that help develop the next generation of STEAM students, feed the hungry, etc. He could never spend it, should share it.
ginm...At what risk to the human race when something goes wrong
dubn...He is a pig.
blik...None of my business.
rayh...If he reaches his goals he should be compensated properly.
john...Nobody is worth that type of insane payday…nobody. The rich get richer and the poor poorer in this country
jame...I would favor this 100% IF there was a 90% tax on income above $1 billion annually. No one needs to earn that much. Tax revenue generated would go directly to fund universal health care for all.
iren...It is ridiculous. I was considering a Tesla. Not anymore.
robs...Your manipulative question failed.

Should federal judges have the authority to require the government to fund aid programs during a shutdown?

  • 70% Yes
  • 25% No
  • 4% Unsure

EmailComments
patr...It's obscene the president had to be ordered by judges to feed his people.
atli...Federal judges should require the government to comply with the law, duh.
mdul...The question is not quite right. The real question is whether federal judges should have the authority to compel the executive branch to follow the Constitution and the country's laws. The answer is plainly, "yes". The fact that it's during a shutdown and Trump is trying to press the Democrats into acquiescing to his desire to shift money away from the appropriations Congress has legislated it immaterial.
pssa...This is a silly question. People in the richest, most developed nation should absolutely get the aid they require. If a judge has to order the president to comply, we need a new president. He clearly not for the people, he's for himself.
bosc...When the MAGA perople stop spreading lies that confuse the general public about illegals getting Medicaid and SNAP benefits, the Americans can fully understand that only the very poorest are getting help from the government.
nanc...We certainly can’t rely on the Supreme Court. Trump has got most of them in his pocket.
swol...It is not the Judicial Branch’s dut or responsibility to govern, it is the responsibility of the President.
dmis...This is stupid, without funding, ANY source will be depleted. This is an arbitrary ruling from a judge that has no idea of the impact to other programs. Is a government subsidy more important than paying ATC, more important than paying TSA, more important than paying our Military.
sesi...Democrats need to think of the country, not their party and vote to extend the budget negotiations. This shutdown has Democrats SOLELY to blame.
tuck...Absolutely. The only people getting benefits cut are all members of the administration and the lawmakers. There pay and benefits. Including the cabinet members. All there benefits and pay. They created the problem they are the ones that should be suffering. We pay for all of this
bjef...Uh, because that’s what they’re supposed to do..keep our wannabe king in check?
lpea...It’s the communist democrats that are the people.
arth...In a shutdown, there is not supposed to be any money, except for designated government operations. The executive branch is being wildly criticized constantly for usurping the Congress. This is the judicial usurping both the other branches.
grif...There has to be checks and balance in government. The money should not be solely in the hands of one person's authority.
lvca...He lost a court case, this is the result.
kroe...It’s a matter of ethics and conscience!!
pjpa...Constitution bequeathed the Power of the Purse to Congress not some doorknob judge
jbak...Honestly, federal judges shouldn’t have to…but here we are.
vick...This probably wasn't necessary prior to Trump's presidency, but given his propensity for revenge politics coupled with his dangerous lack of empathy and narcissism, the American people, especially the poor, are at the mercy of a fair and law-conscious judicial system.
badg...Yes, yes and yes. Especially when money is being withheld for spite. The sitting president has nothing but disdain for the American people. He regards us as a means to an end. That end being his unlimited power. He doesn’t care about the flag or the veterans or the American worker. If so, he would’ve sat down with the Democrats and passed the funding bill by now. He’s promised for 10 years that he had some kind of healthcare plan that was better than what we have now. He has yet to produce one. He’s a pathological liar.
mdke...We need someone to keep the government in check when it comes to funding aid programs. The real problem is the stacking aid programs in with normal funding projects
jkdi...One federal judge having the power to override the entire congress and president is bullshit. He is only a judge, probably not even elected…..
mrse...The administration’s appealing is unconscionable! My God, using hunger as a political weapon! How low have they sunk?
audz...The fact that a large majority of your readers give this much authority to a single federal judge tells us a lot about your readership.
srda...Because no one expects the legislative branch to do what is right.
gran...We already have so many hungry people in the USA. This just puts more at risk for severe health issues and possibly death. Feed the USA
usct...This is fair and decent. Most Americans are fair minded. Especially when the money is there and approved by Congress. The government continues to collect taxes during the shutdown. It can spend if it chooses.
ajbu...There are TOO many persons with salaries greater than 40K per year who are taking food stamps improperly
jeff...That's what Congress is for. MAKE them go back to work.
kous...Cuz no one in these guys want to work while they are counting on tax payers to pay for there food and millions of kids it’s not right .
wilb...That's why we have checks and balances so that no one branch or person can dictate policy for the entire country.
cour...This is our judicial check on executive overreach.
lisa...Term limits for our Supreme Court. Release the TrumpStein Files.
dana...We have to have some guardrails.
walk...Federal judges and judges period determine and decide legal issues. This is not a legal issue. If this judge can force the president to go outside his designated powers why didn’t he force the government back open? Or force the paychecks of all the criminals (politicians) who shut it down. To forfeit their paychecks. This is setting yet another precedent that will weaken the government or the presidency again.
cjgr...This is the very reason our Constitution has built in the Checks and Balances System. No one branch of government (Executive Branch) should have the power to hold the country hostage.
meho...When politicians won't consider the economic ramifications of a wealth centric economy that leaves citizens unable to afford healthcare or groceries, federal judges should be re-balancing executive power back toward democracy.
avaa...We need them to stop this regime in its tracks. They are taking away peoples food healthcare and freedom to walk down a street in certain cities they deem enemies. They need to go
spro...These federal judges need to stay in their lanes and districts. Sick of their overreach and pandering. The left’s practice of judge shopping needs to stop.
mdea...People are struggling with food insecurity and withholding food as a bargaining chip is just another example of this administration disregard for human life. They don’t like at people as human but as a tool to be used as they please
bnig...This Administration seems to think it has ABSOLUTE rule, focusing on themselves vs the COUNTRY!!
paul...The government should make sure the children and elderly should always have food. The elderly worked hard and the children are our future.
jadu...not their lane, like it or not, it's the other two branches of government that needs to step up
robe...Shouldn't need to but sadly yes
jeff...Absolutely!! A Federal Judge shouldn’t have to do so, but the Trump administration has no compassion.
lynn...Yes! Something must be changed to prevent workers from not being paid. It is outrageous! The Democrats doing this, should all be fired. Everyone with common sense, is afraid of being black balled if they vote yes.
k.a....There are many people who are not getting paid, ATC, military (soon), showing up regardless. They have rent/mortgages, cars/gas to get to work, utilities and they need to feed their families as well. Why are people on SNAP more important than these people?
john...No one person should have the capacity to make such decisions that can inflict so much pain on people
sara...This is not judicial activism - CONGRESS passed a law specifically setting aside funds for this SPECIFIC purpose - protecting SNAP recipients during a shutdown. The judge is simply saying the executive branch must follow the law and use those funds made available by congress.

Are private equity firms like Blackstone well-suited to manage senior housing investments?

  • 86% No
  • 9% Depends
  • 5% Yes

EmailComments
sara...The profit motive makes for terrible management of these facilities and abuse of older tenants who deserve to live in peace with adequate services, but instead are exploited for ever increasing extractive profits.
kati...Clearly. PE is not in for long term sustained growth. They want to make their money and get out. That's not reflective of the nursing home industry.
rita...Sorry I goofed on a yes vote a minute ago. Sure doesn’t seem like Blackstone is positioned or has any talent for managing senior housing - this should be a goldmine for investors with a solid business plan.
patc...Senior housing facilities run residents $5-12k per month, a model suitable for the generation drawing pensions plus affordable healthcare during their working years, allowing for greater retirement savings.
jona...Private equity firms would be more successful providing support to non-profit orgs through partnerships, trainings, and supplies for senior living.
cica...They are rent seekers. They simply are in business to squeeze every last dime out of whoever they can. God help anyone in their senior housing.
jc44...Private equity isn’t good at managing much
nanc...Good outcomes never seem to be in the picture when private equity takes over, whether it’s a hospital, nursing home, or restaurant. The quality always goes down.
tuck...It would be ok if they weren’t slumlords, gouging seniors for profit. They could be decent, provide a good product and take losses as a tax break
clif...Not if the objective of senior housing is to house seniors rather that generate profits.
robe...No private equity is only in any venture to drain the cash no longterm focus or money for fixes
tubi...ethics and profit do not mix.
jbak...Private equity, an enterprise built on extracting the most efficient and profit out of business at the expense of customers and quality, should not be anywhere near the senior care industry.
bhad...greedy greedy people
lisa...Release the TrumpStein Files.
meho...They're using senior housing as part of a lucrative scheme that benefits them, but not those in senior housing caught in their twisty financial machinations.
crus...Greed is not good.

What is the primary driver behind the steep decline in China’s exports to the U.S.?

  • 84% U.S. tariffs and trade barriers
  • 14% Weak global consumer demand
  • 2% Other factors

EmailComments
jadu...inflation has push prices to the point where global consumers have run out of disposable funds, and the beginning of a global recession has begun.
jkdi...Tariffs have nothing to do with it… People are holding onto their money and not spending it unless they have a need
kart...Duh…
atli...The failing economy in the entire world is attributable to one thing -- Trump
jwh1...Kind of a no brainer, even if someone like me doesn’t fully understand China’s complex economy. Experts prosecuted this.
geof...Duh!
meho...It seems pretty evident that would be the cause given the bullying Trump has done.
oneo...They don't want to pay the tariff..... and neither do we.
crus...There's just too much risk to do business on both sides of the Pacific given the current administration's erratic behavior.
sbza...Duhhhhh!
jc44...Here comes a recession. Get ready - but Trump can have parties in his new ballroom. Let them eat cake
dlgr...Chinese espionage and intellectual theft sponsored and encouraged by the socialist totalitarian government has completely eroded trust causing the steep decline, tariffs only provided the tipping point.
spud...China and Vietnam have been illegally dumping cheap products to America far below market value for far too long, costing American jobs. You have to level the playing field to make American quality products stay competitive. Don’t forget who we are dealing with. China will lie, cheat and steal and absolutely can not be trusted, period.
cica...Both of the above. Life became unaffordable post pandemic. That situation was actually clearing up in the United States all the way up until just after election day. The tariffs have once again made life on affordable in the United States for the average worker. We weren’t buying before and we can’t afford to buy now.
robe...Traffis draining the cash from consumer and business spend

Do you or someone you care for have experience with nail fungal infections?

  • 47% Yes, myself
  • 30% No
  • 23% Yes, someone I know

EmailComments
lgol...Had this problem my whole life. It would be great to get rid of it.
tplo...I am a dermatologist and contributed the the development of current treatments. Treatment is slow because the nail needs to grow out and shed the fungus.
nanc...My podiatrist recommended putting Vicks Vaporub on a toenail daily, but cautioned it would take awhile. It took about 3 months, but it’s been a year and I haven’t seen anymore.
tony...I know a lot of people who have fungal infections - I’m in my mid 70’s and have had nail fungus for almost 30 years :(. Hoepfully these advances will help everyone!
sama...I have nail and toenail fungus for over 20 Years and cannot get rid of it . Samantha
nanc...I have one fingernail with a fungus. Occurred after having an allergic reaction to a dipping manicure. I am treating with a Rx clear polish. It seems to be working and as the nail grows, the fungus gets trimmed off.
ksta...Yuck!
this...I use a topical application and it does work if you use it every day for 3-4 months. So compliance is an issue!
john...I took an oral treatment for several months and it got rid of it.

Would you personally opt for a treatment involving your stomach cells being reprogrammed to produce insulin?

rita...Not yet. Need much more data etc
cica...If it were proven safe and effective. Unfortunately, the FDA under this administration cannot be trusted. They’re in the pocket of big business. As a matter fact, there is no agency that can be trusted with this administration.
atli...More research needed funded by closing the department of war.
jkdi...Not enough research
