Anna's Daybreak News

Just facts, you think for yourself

Who is primarily to blame for the civilian toll in Gaza?

  • 51% Hamas is primarily responsible
  • 45% Israel shares significant responsibility
  • 4% Other

EmailComments
sean...The Israeli occupation is the aggressor here.
will...Hamas could end the bloodshed at any time by simply returning the hostages - something they should do anyway. Hamas has decided that it is willing to sacrifice their own people for the publicity. If the Palestinian government itself is willing to needlessly sacrifice so many of their own people how can we expect the Israeli army to restrain itself?
jail...Insane answer choices.. you’re sick lmao Free Palestine and free yourself!!! Yikes!!!!!!!!
carm...Israel time and time again has said they indiscriminately bomb Gaza. If they were not targeting civilians they would put a ground force in Gaza to surgically remove Hamas
noah...I heard Hamas was hiding inside your children. Hey, don't get mad at me, it's their fault.
wabe...Hamas hides in civilian areas/ buildings and has taken hostages from the attack on Israeli civilians into these Gaza areas.
dmba...If Hamas were to release the hostages and leave Gaza, hostilities would end immediately
c.ma...Israel is clearly responsible for the thousands of Palestenian civilians killed by "collateral" damage
magg...Is sad that innocent Palestinians have to die just because their government is corrupt by terrorist. When people say “Free Palestine” I hope they really mean Free Palestine from its own corrupt government, and free the Israeli hostages. Everyone shouldn’t have to suffer because of an extremely violent terrorist group, they are the ones to blame for their civilians being “trapped.” And they are the ones to blame for innocent lives being lost. Palestinians and Israelis have been living together in camps in complete peace. They are not the problem.
77jo...Israel is doing nothing but inciting and supporting Hamas as an excuse to retaliate and claim more land for greater Israel
bdca...Hamas...a war mongering organization with a hatred for all civilians who don't bow to them and join their forces. Hatred of peace, jealousy of joy, but with a love of killing and dehumanizing anything in their path. Their brotherhood is a farce and their cause....well, it was forgotten years ago. They only exist to destroy. Shameful. May God have mercy on those in their path and may God enlighten those that may be tempted or forced to follow in their footsteps.
kold...Genocide met with genocide.
mars...Hamasaki hides behind the civilians in Gaza.
joli...Isreal is solely responsible for this Genocide. Come on
dian...Israel seems to be the entity with the organized military capabilities and continues to strike areas in Gaza that include civilians.
sfst...Hamas started the war and they do not protect their citizens. They use them as human shields. They put political and strategic offices in public buildings.
jrv1...Palestinian residents need to step up and rid themselves of Hammas if they want peace
mpda...The unprovoked attack October 7 started this war. Hamas was overwhelmingly elected by their people and had the opportunity to end this war. Apparently, it is the view of the Palestine elected and residents to hate Israel and dig in their heels. Why are they surprised with the violence they have leashed upon themselves?
mark...They started it!
zdad...Last I checked oppressors don’t get to cry about being retaliated against.
midw...US and Israel
laur...Hamas says no regard for its people or life in general.
davi...hamas are the worst human shields evil terrorist who dont care of their own people
stev...Hamas is 100% at fault
fcse...I agree with both statements. Both Hamas and Israel have fought without regard for civilian casualties.
robi...Israel has all the responsibility for the civilians they have killed - what in the actual fuck is this phrasing?
mmva...Israel's intentions go way beyond eradicating Hamas. This is genocide.
pegg...Hamas launched a horrific attack on Oct 7th which started the war. However, Israel played a major part prior to the war by mistreating the Gaza community and continued cruelty. The President of Israel is as corrupt as Donald Trump and should be removed from office. He is a despicable man.
lohm...The answer options are poorly worded.
wigg...There would be no conflict if Hamas had not attacked the Israelis
ayo....Both Hamas and Israelis share the blame
blup...It isn't anti-semetic to disagree with what a country and it's leader does. Religion has nothing to do with it
jeff..."Shares" significant responsibility? Israel is 100% responsible for the ongoing genocide of Palestinian civilians. This shouldn't even be debatable--it's a fact.
ogil...Israel wouldn’t even be in Gaza if Hamas hadn’t attacked Israel. Hamas relishes Palestinian deaths only slightly less than Israeli deaths. They are savages and until they are completely eradicated there will never be peace.
your...U.S. has blood on our hands
mads...Both are equally responsible.
cica...They both share the responsibility. Hamas more so but Netanyahu is using operations as a get out of jail free card.
atli...Ethnic cleansing and land theft are taking precedent over defense.
laur...Hamas started the war because they attacked Israel.
1952...Hamas started the conflict.
ralt...Hamas started this war and so far has not returned the hostages
durb...Both are responsible!
bigc...Israels repressive policies and apartheid state are 98 per cent to blame
nick...This spiraling escalation would never have started if Oct 7 never happened.
phil...These options are so biased. Why is it that we can have "Hamas is primarily responsible", but Israel "shares responsibility"?
patr...Israel is 100% responsible
todd...Hamas can stop the bloodshed at any moment, but they won't. They knew this would happen and don't care.
jllm...No 10/7, 50,000 alive, was it worth it, and if you say yes this will never end.
wgle...Which country fired the bullets and dropped the bombs that killed civilians? If we can figure that out, then we know which country is responsible for their deaths. It’s not that hard to understand.
trag...The emphasis is on SHARED at this point. Hopefully they will share a solution to end the senseless deaths on both sides

Is targeting only countries with trade imbalances (“the dirty 15”) a smart way to handle tariffs — or an oversimplification?

  • 66% Oversimplified: Trade imbalances are more complex
  • 29% Smart: It’s focused and strategic
  • 5% Other

EmailComments
jeff...Broad tariffs on any country to solve trade imbalances is delusional. Tariffs should only be used on specific, targeted industries that need domestic protection from international competition.
serg...Tarrifs need to be fair and balanced
msyk...Trade imbalances finance foreign capital into the US and we should not cut that off by taxing ourselves at the same time.
wgle...Trump’s tariff “policy” is a joke. It will cost American consumers a fortune and do long term damage to US interests.
r.sc...Trumps sledgehammer approach to tariffs is ridiculous. The NAFTA free trade agreement looked at what each country could contribute to a mutually beneficial relationship. The US needs fruits from Mexico and steel and energy from Canada. Who pays if Canada returns the favor and imposes a 100% electrical costs to Michigan, New York and Wisconsin? Perhaps their Trumpian sledgehammer response is just to turn it off!
jim....This will bring those countries to the negotiation table.
cica...Yes, the incompetence of this administration and everything they do is only matched by its corruption
anet...He is a poker player. Let’s hope that the US will survive him
gibl...Seems very fair, why should they charge us high tariffs well they pay low or no tariff. Many of these countries have slave labor with very low wages while we have to supply insurance safety Social Security, etc. and we lose the capability of making those things in our home country which is a national security concern.
nata...He needs to look at the fallout and the trade agreements already in place. Is it worth losing an ally through price wars? There are other ways other than bullying to work out a win-win deal.
jllm...How long does it take a simpleton to figure out tariffs only hurt the consumer and therefore the economy, four years.
kevi...Dumb, that's the other option, just dumb.
zuzu...The population sizes of these targeted countries are much smaller than the U.S., and as such, do not have the same buying capacity or need. Look at the per capita spend as one possible benchmark.
mich...This whole Tariff crap is BS brought about by the most ridiculous leader the U.S. has ever seen. Many trade imbalances exist because the U.S. NEEDS raw materials from other countries. If Trump wants to fix trade imbalances, then all he has to do is stop importing the raw materials U.S. industries need to be successful. Done. Trade imbalance solved. No tariffs necessary. Just try to find those raw materials somewhere in the U.S. Take, for example, crude oil from Canada. If the U.S. didn't import any oil from Canada (at very good prices!), there would be a trade surplus! Drill, baby, drill! Find our own damn oil! The U.S. needs to consider that trade between countries happens for a reason. One country needs to buy, the other needs to sell. But beware - the U.S. is not the only buyer. Shooting themselves in the foot by ruining their relationships with almost every country on the planet will serve no one. Once touted as the world's greatest democracy and defender of freedom, the U.S. appears to have become a navel gazer who cares for nothing but the U.S. It is a sad state of affairs that will ruin economies and wreak havoc for every country, including the U.S.
simo...The whole notion of tariffs providing a price umbrella under which domestic manufacturers can source locally made raw materials and components is false. The real result is that Americans pay more for goods than everyone else on the planet and that our exports are killed. I was a manufacturer in the US for 38 years and I know that to be successful one of the needs is to source raw materials and components with the highest quality at the lowest cost. If you don’t do this, you die. Tariffs are dumb, but then, so is Trump.
lhap...Trump doesn’t understand trade “imbalances”.
ltro...Some imbalances benefit us. We may need more of what one country offers..
gpow...It is amateur hour at the improv !! And shameful that we cannot have better and brighter minds with moral compasses as representatives of America. Embarrassing to be a US Citizen.
patr...Tariffs are bad policy
matt...As we have seen in history, there can appear to be short term gain, but playing tariff politics always comes up short in the long run…just look how tariffs contributed to our transition into the Great Depression.
larr...Leveling the playing field on tariffs seems a good start. Our trading partners have been charging higher tariffs on the US for years. This in effect makes our products more expensive and protects their economies. Why is everyone upset if we do the same?
scot...Anything that starts with Trump decision making is a threat to the USA and now the world. Cannot trust that he knows what he is doing nor that his cabinet is qualified to make decisions either.
rsle...It's not "other nations" fault that THEY make things Americans want to buy at prices much lower than "stuff" made here if it is made in the USA at all in any required bulk. Similarly, they may not be able to afford some things made in the USA once it is exported to their country and is so much more expensive compared to their salaries and wage structure. trump is putting on a carnival show for his MAGA supporters that will severely hurt both them and our country PLUS the world economy. A man who bankrupted casinos knows nothing about world finance.
robi...Trump and Tariffs are a disgrace
ndej...Define trade imbalance. The US is being very “nasty” to Canada. The per capita trade imbalance shows Canada imports more from the US on GDP basis. $5689 more. How can the US call Canada unfair? In 2023, Canada imported approximately $6,925 worth of goods and services from the United States per person, while the U.S. imported roughly $1,236 per person from Canada, including gas and oil. Here's a more detailed breakdown: Canada's Imports from the U.S.: Canada imports approximately $277 billion worth of goods and services from the U.S. annually. Dividing that by Canada's population of roughly 40 million, this translates to about $6,925 per person.
koad...Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) invalidates pretty much any surveys involving President Trump.
jmka...If tariffs were so great, why not rescind the Commerce Clause and keep those pesky Idaho potatoes out of my state?
kjla...He is destroying our country
lloy...Nothing Trump does is smart or good for nation. He's completely chaotic, he's truly out to destroy America in the name of rebuilding it.
jrv1...Tariffs are bad financial policy. Negotiate lower tarriffs in US imports

Does Mark Carney deserve a clean break from Trudeau’s legacy — or should voters hold the party accountable?

  • 52% Clean break
  • 48% Party accountability matters

EmailComments
cica...The American voter held the Democratic Party responsible for Joe Biden sins. Now the whole country is suffering under a madman, his psychotic, ketamine, addicted, sidekick, and a congress that refuses to stand up to them. And the people who voted for them are suffering just as much as the democrats they voted against. Accountability doesn’t always lead to the best result. Sometimes you just gotta let stuff go.
jllm...Just because you had an unpopular leader of your party, doesn’t mean everything is bad when the new guy comes in, we have the opposite, popular leader and it’s getting worse by the day, is recession right around the corner, let’s hope its’s not depression.
lhap...New guy, new day.
mich...The past cannot be changed. Canada needs a leader with an economic background who can fight Trump leveraging all the experience gained from positions as the leader of the Bank of England and the Bank of Canada. Canada does not need a divisive career politician who thinks "Canada is Broken", and who thinks is 3-word slogans. These might play well in conservative HQ and TV ads, but any thinking Canadian will see straight through such marketing ploys that target those with right-wing values that are not shared by the majority of Canadians.
trdy...Same old empty promises and incompetence from that administration.
rlsc...The party needs to be held accountable for our lost decade.
zack...I worry how 50% in this poll thinks that a party that has run Canada into the ground for 10 years someone deserves a clean break from the legacy of Trudeau, aka their own party. Makes me see that half of the people that read this aren’t very informed to reality. But hey, that’s the entire point of politics. Canada deserves to fail if they keep voting for this failed party.
serg...The liberal party needs a clean brake so they can walk back Trudeau woke agenda
rob1...Better to look forward than looking backwards Carney is best positioned to lead Canada in this critical time!
ndej...Carney has held senior positions, has a brilliant mind and has Xanada in its best interest. PP and Alberta’s Smith will dismantle Canada.
rwri...he's an elitist

Have you ever submitted your DNA to a genetic testing service (e.g., 23andMe, AncestryDNA)?

  • 51% No
  • 49% Yes

EmailComments
lhap...Used AncestryDNA, but wished I hadn’t. Have since learned more about these services, and the risk outweighs the reward.
bach...I have not, but my son did.
hlsn...Countries of heritage and percentage are interesting, but not surprising. However, constant upselling emails is a real pain. The inoitioal rewsults are just a hooker for greater involvement.
serg...I know my family tree
jack...I am concerned as to what will happen to all the information they collected from their customers.
wait...No because a data breach has always been a concern
jllm...What an a-hole, marked that one done under BIG mistake.
bren...Results did not even mention my Irish Scottish German heritage as a possibility
kkjj...why.....

Is it more unsettling or exciting that dark energy may be evolving and not constant?

  • 58% Exciting: New discoveries push science forward
  • 42% Unsettling: It challenges our understanding of the universe

EmailComments
tara...Always seek new discoveries - nothing is sure but change. And we certainly do not know all there is to know about the known universe
jllm...How is something named the Big Crunch not unsettling, at least they didn’t add theory to the name and give the non-believers a ridiculous argument.
walk...Could just be God as the Holy Spirit. All will be fine in his time.

Would you eat hybrid cheese that combines dairy and plant proteins?

  • 65% Yes, if it tastes good
  • 35% No, I prefer traditional cheese

EmailComments
jllm...Let’s face it we only eat things that taste good, most of the time we don’t have a clue what’s in it, and won’t find out what affect it has to your body for thirty years.
wgle...I also prefer to cut the cheese.
sara...Plant cheese gives me bad gas! No bueno.
tomp...I don't like artificial foods. Give me the real thing with its taste, not an engineering marvel
cica...Yeah I would give it a try
kkjj...why....
aubr...We need less lab-created food.
troy...Exactly what are the environmental impacts of dairy only cheese? Why are raisins rehydrated with seed oils?
meli...Eat less cheese and more peas, please, but separately
