Just facts, you think for yourself

How effective do you think US military intervention would be in solving Nigeria’s violence and terrorism?

  • 75% Ineffective
  • 14% Very effective
  • 11% Unsure

newb...Military intervention would be a disaster. Either the US would get sucked in or the President would declare victory having killed Nigerians and lost US lives without any lasting effect.
ocds...Stupid TACO move to gain headlines other than Release the Epstein Files.
andr...I'm sure it would be effective, but that's not the right question. The right question is whether we should intervene and the right answer is no! :)
jasc...When is he going to learn, he is not the president of the world. He cannot just continue threatening everyone
mori...You question is too soft. It should be " How appropriate do you think it is for Trump to threaten military intervention in Nigeria?" Because not only does he apparently not have good information, but he also has not explained to Congress how this helps USA to gain their approval.
gded...Somebody needs to do something about the massacre of Christian’s by Muslims worldwide
pjpa...When unleashed, very effective
fcse...Trump is deranged. Our problem is that he doesn’t have a cabinet that provides guardrails like in his first term or a senate that rejects his inexperienced nominees for cabinet posts.
wald...Stay out of other countries affairs.
tubi...this has been going on for some time and its only now of interest because it can be made political.
rjfe...More babbling nonsense from our apparently brain damaged WH resident. Looking at the history in Nigeria over the last twenty years, it is clear to any sensible informed observer that the current situation has changed very little. The Nigerian government, even with known levels of corruption and special interests, has consistently engaged the Boko Haram terrorists with military and social efforts in its northern reaches. The US has found a rare friendly African nation who works with US interests in ways that most African states will not.
geor...We have a lot of problems here in United States why we don’t fix our problems first
joll... Islamophobia. This is the Israeli propaganda and racism at work again! Normalize criminal killing of unarmed children. Then deflect the news to where bad Muslims are also killing innocent people. If Christian’s or Jews target and kill it is somehow justified. If Muslims target and kill it is terrorism or barbaric. All slaughter and ethnic cleansing and genocide and religious killing is barbaric.
elis...They want Nigeria and Venezuelas resources, same old story
tony...This is a failed state. It’s really a power struggle by two rival gangs for control.
debb...Stay out
meho...US military muscle never has, nor probably never will, stop religious wars. Guns don't change people's minds, their prejudice or their extremist views. This is just one more ignorant idea by Trump who's itching to start a war somewhere, anywhere.
usct...It would put Americans at risk. More Muslims are killed in Nigeria than Christians. Trump is trying to distract attention from his cruel, corrupt, incompetent administration.
jens...This is a totally asinine knee jerk reaction.
tech...Afghanistan!
nail...Muslim terrorist only respect power and strength . Weakness they don’t respect
lisa...Release the Trump Stein Files. 🆘🇺🇸
jpsd...Democrats are ruining the nation
mdul...Trump has consistently stated that the United States should avoid getting involved in foreign wars, particularly the "endless wars" or "forever wars", arguing that great nations should not fight such conflicts. He campaigned on an "America First" foreign policy, prioritizing U.S. national interests and domestic issues over international interventions. The most interesting aspect now in Trump's second term is just trying to see how MAGA will contort themselves to try to make it seem like this isn't a complete reversal and betrayal of his supporters. Nigeria? Really? This is where we should be directing our attention? It sure would seem to lend credence to the repetitious claim that he's just trying to find anything to turn attention away from the terrible economy he's created, the police actions with his personal militia, his abject failure to keep the government providing services to its citizens, and, yes, the Epstein files.
nanc...Just what we need is to enter into another conflict. Idiot Hegseth is chomping at the bit. Dangerous idiots controlling our country.
jlcg...What is that charade? We had been led to believed that Trump was highly reluctant to let the US be drawn into any far flung military adventure not justified by pressing national security threats, and now this: wading into a more than 20 years old, and still unsolved, guerilla, where the battle lines are fuzzy, in a country ripe with corruption! Who are we kidding?
brad...It’s none of America’s business and the situation certainly won’t be improved with the intervention of a buffoon.
milt...This president will kill indiscriminately to earn the praise and support of “Christians”. His word is not worth a penny. He’s out of control. Impulsively is a dangerous quality in a president. If he were acting as a Christian he’d stop the genocide in Sudan.
walk...I suspect ineffective is the right answer. It would all depend on the actions and support or lack there of by the Nigerian government. No idea if it is strong enough and or uncorrupt enough to actually control anything or it wouldn’t be going on now
jake...Once the U.S. pulls out. The tensions will reignite.
mdhp...Why would American Soldiers be sent to fight and die in a country we have never supported in this way before. Isn’t because the leader & chief thinks that a sudden thrust towards Christianity will get him in the pearly gates? The amount of things he has done in his past assure him of not entering heaven, so don’t send our troops into hell for your personal desires.
robe...What about taking care of the poor and sick Christian's at home first if he wants to be devoted.
mcas...Not our fight.
kent...Just another show of bravado by Trump without using facts.
cour...I thought we were supposed to be avoiding foreign entanglements.
gary...Squirrel! Everything he does is to make us look away from what he doesn’t want us to focus on. 2028 will be the year of war so that we can’t have some election and he stays in power.
mrse...Multiple factions and undoubtedly a culture we don’t understand, and Trump thinks he can send in force and calm things down? He hasn’t learned anything from Vietnam to Afghanistan
edtr...America has a history of failing when entering into war in far away countries that they have no business participating in.
serg...Christians need to be protected with use of force
aunt...I feel our "Sec of War" wants to demonstrate his 'warrior ethos" >:(
cnaj...Somebody has to stop the killing of Christians in that country.
atli...Two theologies at war portends grief for us all, Christian nationalism of the USA versus the Islamic world.
tuxe...I think the US focus will be trying to save or access minerals or land. I don’t think they are truly concerned with people being slaughtered.
dctr...None of our business.
ngre...I have lived and worked in both Muslim and Christian Nigeria… he can’t fix it with military threats or occupation. He should never have stopped US AID- that approach works!
sara...This is a long-term situation which has deep roots, and bout which Trump.as usual is stunningly ignorant. Claiming the US will go ton war any time "christians are threatened" (even when as here it's much more complicated than that) is a recipe for the same kind of crazy decisionmaking that git us into Viet Nam with the domino theory. I thought this guy is supposed to be America First -??
blik...Since 630 AD, the cult followers of mohammed are brainwashed to kill and enslave the kefirs - anyone ... anyone who does not adhere to strict islam ...... until the non-muslims learn to fight back defensively, including some being killed in the battles, the murders will continue. Simple.
jeff...No more wars!!
shas...He needs to focus on the USA
lewp...The USA military should not be used as the UNIVERSAL POLICE; we are no longer solving our own domestic problems.
gran...US needs to treat this as heading off a genocide, using all means necessary.

How confident are you in police investigations that rule out terrorism when violent attacks occur?

  • 51% Confident
  • 49% Skeptical

EmailComments
jlcg...It's Great Britain! Their police knows better.
nail...The law enforcement in the UK is now been taken over by Islamist form of government . The nations of Europe are no longer sovereign nations
nmik...Police in UK has caved to Muslim intrusion and downplay rapes and terrorism to favor UK government
blik...Who besides jihadi muslims goes on a slashing blade rampage to attack random people??????
sesi...Post the names of the assailants.
robs...What is the basis for these responses? Encouraging your readers to provide opinions on matters they couldn't possibly know anything about is cancerous to society. Do better, Anna's Daybreak News!
tubi...depends on the definition of "terrorism" as to how effective they will be.
amyr...Police/Media typically don’t want to admit when terrorist acts are taking place by certain groups they are politically aligned with.
dpbu...I'm skeptical because there's a tendency by government (for political motives) to deny the violence inherent in certain religions that openly teach violence in their gathering places and in their own scriptures. They are afraid to "offend" people with the truth. The truth is that some religions use violence to achieve their ends and they are not shy about it
lfue...It is an attack by criminals against innocent civilians. That is what is important. Not your or my definition of who is or who is not a terrorist. This word terrorist has no meaning in current society because it has been used so widely with political rhetoric. Who is a freedom fighter? Nelson Mandela? Who is oppressed by a racist government or well funded military with racist goals or to steal land and mineral rights.
eliz...The UK is in deep trouble
davi...Police do their job. But they're linear thinkers (detain and arrest). And who knows what bias the news feed has these days. The question is "What is a terrorist?" If someone is stabbing multiple people, it could easily have been motivated by their perceptions that they need to kill "others". Isn't that "terrorism"?

Will OPEC+’s cautious approach prevent a global oil glut in 2026?

  • 64% Too soon to tell
  • 23% Yes
  • 13% No

EmailComments
nanc...Not if this administration sends the U.S. into a full blown recession, which seems increasingly likely.
pjpa...Trump requiring allies to blacklist Russia oil purchases will help w/ glut concerns
klod...Oil will soon be irrelevant to a potentially more peaceful world thanks to everyone except the US.
meho...I wish more people understood that OPEC is controlling oil prices as they see fit, not Trump. Thank-you for this information.
mbsb...Depends on how stupid the US government is, e.g., attack on Venezuela.

Which is the bigger factor causing recent corporate layoffs?

  • 67% Economic uncertainty and trade issues
  • 33% AI and automation

EmailComments
dawn...Ai and automation can create some jobs for maintenance and repair. There’s is still a need for human workers. On the economic uncertainty and trade issues people are facing it is slowing the pace of buying therefore labor is decreasing to offset the losses in profits
sara...Businesses can't plan in this chaotic environment, when economic fundamentals are like shifting sands at the whim of our dumb dictator.
mdul...Business leaders learned that criticizing the economy under Trump leads to rapid retaliation using all the levers of government, with DJT proving he is unashamed to use them despite all the Constitutional checks and balances intended to limit their use. If I were still CEO of a public company, I would also be cutting staff and attributing it to AI and automation rather than the elephant in the room.
pjpa...Amazon is estimating AI & automation will keep employment levels stable while 2X sales
jona...Corporate squeeze, in which corporations fail to realize investing in their workforce is the best way to improve outcome, is the biggest cause. Economic uncertainty and trade issues pushed over the first domino in a line of corpo-squeeze issues, and AI/automation is a series of extra dominoes added to the end of the line.
robs...Economic uncertainty is only a legitimate reason for corporate layoffs if you can point to a moment in time in the history of the world when economic certainty existed. Also, 4% unemployment is the ongoing norm for a healthy economy without mass layoffs given natural job changes such as people retiring, attrition, people dropping out of the workforce for personal reasons, etc.
john...This administration doesn’t seem to be able to recognize, or just doesn’t care, about foreseen and unforeseen consequences of their actions. I would hope they would do a deep dive to identify unforeseen consequences, but I have no confidence in their ability or desire to do that. As long as the financial welfare of those in and around this administration is secure then I don’t see they care.. let the poor get poorer and the rich richer
nanc...This is a no brainer: the buffoon in the White House. He totally lost any advantage the U.S. had over China and has ceded all to them. This will cause more uncertainty and instability.
meho...We're in choppy economic waters here. Americans are struggling and they're not spending like they usually do. I'd love to see the total number of people in America who have lost their jobs due to DOGE and other GOP related factors.
wmes...It is really neither choice. Companies are doing old fashioned downsizing but saying it’s because of any number of reasons such as AI, over hiring during Covid, tariffs, etc.
mdhp...Greed should have been a third option
amyr...Trade deals will bring back more manufacturing jobs (eventually) to the US. Companies may be forward thinking in factoring in AI technology upgrades and now is probably a good time to go ahead and downside those jobs. Perhaps in the end it will even out but laborers will have to migrate to the jobs not taken by AI and technology upgrades.
spr....Do believe AI is somewhat influential

How surprising is it that genome stability relies heavily on proteins like Rtt105, which act more indirectly?

  • 50% Not surprising
  • 41% Neutral
  • 9% Very surprising

EmailComments
psha...Protein enzymes acting as biological catalysts to facilitate chemical reactions in organic organisms is a well documented phenomenon. It appears to me the limiting factor in any biological function is simply our understanding of the processes involved, direct and indirect.

Would you try an experimental laser therapy for a currently untreatable eye disease before it is widely available?

  • 80% Yes
  • 20% No

jepu...I would try it to prevent blindness...in one eye first.
gszo...if the periferisl vision not affected it would be worth to try
pack...I have dry MD, and have had vision in only one eye for years (lazy eye)
susa...Yes, indeed. This condition is a very serious cloud over my passion for my art. I am a sculptor and photographer and the idea of waking up one day with loss of sight is so very scary!
lebe...AMD needs a treatment. WMD has had one for several years. The earlier we address this condition we will keep active and participating adults in our society.
atli...Closing the department of war and putting the funds into scientific research that benefits humans over weapons would solve many health related questions.
mysh...My mom had this eye condition. It just got worse and eventually went to the wet stage. The shots did not help. I would try the new experimental treatment hoping it might actually help.
