rebe...Active duty personnel need to know their families back home are being supported. This economy and loss of benefits to so many people is not a sign of support.
ntho...Its a bribe
wcso...The military need a boost and big thank you all the time. The American people need to realize how important they are and take care of our military. We also need to take care of the service men and woman who live barely on their funds and some are on the streets. They are our hero's
jvh....This is clearly a gimmick. Adequate compensation is the appropriate solution.
kart...It’s reported that the money for these payments will come from an item in the Pentagon’s budget that was to provide more money for housing allowances. So money is taken away with one hand to give it away with the other. What a sad joke.
rumr...I'm skeptical that "supporting active-duty military" is the primary purpose of this spending. The question is to what extent can the soldiers be bought off.
jona...It seems no different from the stimulus payments from the Biden admin that President Trump so heavily criticized.
coll...I do think it is a nice symbolic recognition. Hope more people start appreciating things being done by Trump than always criticizing, while other Presidents have done Nothing!
pwki...It helps raise morale.
jpgr...It’s a bandaid to continue to pull the wool over the nation. He has no real effective policies, he’s not addressing the spiraling healthcare problem, he has no plan and hasn’t had one since his first term. Pathetic
emil...It feels like a pay off to buy support.
tkbd...Why wouldn’t extra $ to support those who defend our freedom be supportive? It was a great idea and I support it.
jayc...That one time payment does nothing. Military base salary needs to be increased. Veteran disability benefits needs to be simpler to qualify for. Disability payments to veterans needs to be increased across the board. There is no amount of money that is enough to tell a veteran thank you for what they have volunteered to endure in protection of this country.
raym...It’s random and costly. Not how businesses and governments should be run / operate
fogg...No
gran...More VA and active duty assistance for mental health!
akyg...Publicity stunt.
jent...Maintain/improve current services but do not single out on group for a monetary gift!
jjai...Raise their pay, not give them a loyalty bribe. And where does he have the right to spend tariff money not authorized by Congress, or has it become his personal slush fund? Especially when SCOTUS rules the tariffs illegal and the money has to be given back.
news...It’s a Xmas gift, not a long term solution
jonw...This is a stunt by Trump, that is all it is 😩
dora...It helps
huff...Although it’s a nice gesture it’s like spitting in the ocean. There needs to be something more long term.
lfbr...It's another Trump stunt. Looks like doing something but ignores basic issues of military housing, relocation assistance, etc
herb...But only in addition to maintaining and increasing other ways to support them, such as medical care.
tmar...As a former Officer in the United States Marine Corps, my thought has always been, as it was when I activly served, is to simply up the benefits and and pay structure on a monthly basis. Make it better all the way around. The $1,776 bump for the year (if you spread it out) breaks down to about $74 a pay check, on average, what it works out to. Take care of the Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Airwomen all year round. Keep politics out of this. Stop blaming everyone else and correcting challenges by approving these petty these petty little "bones" to the people that deserve so much more. Make this about the people who serve.
scot...It’s all show….all a distraction from all of the illegal and unethical and immoral bs this administration is up to.
jabe...The authors of these article are so incredibly liberal. Off the rails. Use of words is so tilted. I’m embarrassed for them. There is no more subjectivity in reporting…just bias.
john...Replacing Hegsteth as Secretary of "War" would do more for our troop's morale.
pman...It’s called buying support - not do we have the. Money
meho...Just another desperate attempt by Trump to get votes. So blatantly self-serving considering the many ways he could be supporting the military instead of abusing them for his own purposes.
jose...Trump is trying to buy loyalty!
dlmo...Invest that money in VA hospitals and mental health care
amyw...Better pay, beeter VA services and mental Health support. Placing commanders in positions that they deserve no matter their race or gender but firing respected leaders because of the supposed DEI policy was a big mistake. Also, placing Hegseth in charge puts every service member at unnecessary risk because he is grossly unqualified.
thom...
d.lo...Or more
mand...That’s nothing per individual. “Bigger picture help”and support is what’s needed. What a waste of time and money .. pathetic. It’s like a couple trips to the grocery store. THAT’S his tribute to our military? A reference to 1776?? He’s crazy.
kelt...best short speech ever by Trump, spot on every are he has improved since taking office. All you far left liberal trump haters will never agree. Very sad, and at the end of the day, you are the ones who have created divide in our country
pfor...A pete hegseth firing would help.
pjpa...Trump is the duly elected president & has that right - Biden spent $66 BILLION taxpayer funded dollars on illegals in 2024 alone
b.b....This is a wonderful way to support all of our Active Duty military! And the amount $1,776 is genius and quite fitting for the nation’s 250th birthday!
tbea...A drop in the bucket
kvas...Chump is happy to use YOUR tax dollars to bribe more votes. There's no cost to him. Call it what it is, you Maggot Head hypocrites! It's not a "warrior (ugh) dividend;" it's a "vote bribe payment."
serg...Disabled veterans need healthcare and any restore therapy for themselves for free, a paid income for life, and their families need Healthcare for free until adulthood.
suet...This “dividend” will accomplish nothing to better the day to day living of our soldiers and their families. This administration thinks they can just pay people off and all will be well. They are a bunch of out of touch sick individuals
tmon...A quick sugar high, then back to having every on Medicaid & food stamps.
rhp7...This is total pay for votes. Armed forces are being misused in the Caribbean and god knows where else
ashi...Other, more effective ways to support military personnel would be a better use of the money. A one time payment of a made up figure of 1776 feels like a marketing gimmick and doesn't do much to provide soldiers with long term support and skills.
jmla...It’s not enough. It’s a cheap wealthy conman’s attempt to buy loyalty. Typical Trump!
sous...Trump has effectively raised prices on everything through his big beautiful budget and tariff strategies. He should stick to running casinos and defrauding idiots instead of playing arm-chair economist to the nation. Now, he is using "dividends" and arm-twisting his billionaire friends to contribute a pittance of funds (essentially a bribe) into children's bank accounts??? And he thinks that is going to appease everyone or convince them to vote for him??? Seriously??? The bribe is so obvious it's laughable!
jmoy...Nice for the military to receive a bonus and recognition from the President.
dxt-...Instead of a one-time bonus, pay them well, update the housing available, and make sure the VA is funded and doing its job.
jrv1...Why not? These individuals afford the rest of us the opportunity to live freely
nanc...It’s obvious, Trump just wants to insure our active military personnel will follow his orders, even if they are unsure of the legality.
crin...Pay the military personnel a living wage and support their service by overhauling the VA medical system. The $2.5 billion can be utilized for that effort.
pala...Just buying votes.
ceal...Active-duty personnel need cash more than anything.
drol...He's hiding the fact that he's reducing their benefits or something else? He's a con artist and convicted felon.
lora...We should reward our veterans and soldiers for their service to our country. This is a great thing Trump did for our military on our 250th Anniversary.
bpho...A veiled attempt of pandering to the maga right at the cost of deepening the federal deficit does nothing to provide long-term support to military members and their families.
caro...The men and women defending our great country and the rights we are privileged to have should be supported monetarily by the United States through government funding. Commitment, valor, and duty deserve reward and gratitude.
fnpn...I would be pumped to get this when I was on active duty. All the “No’s” surely never served.
rtet...It's another Trump lie. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. The money is from Congress's military housing allowance funds. More smoke and mirrors. If he's such a stable genius why doesn't he understand that tariffs are consumer taxes? Did he take or pass Macroeconomics in college?
bria...Strictly a political maneuver
deca...The Congress controls the purse strings this was money already allocated that Trump just put a silly name on to make it C seem like he was doing something for people he is screwing.
robf...It is only a short term payment that is an attempted “loyalty buy off”. It does not provide a cure for the economy and the financial burden enlisted and young officers have to carry through out the year.
kdel...This doesn’t cover the trauma they’ve been through it’s bullshit if you as me penny shit not even a penny of their hard work they put in to fight for this country.
cath...It's an idiotic and unnecessary publicity stunt that he has no right to do anyway under the constitution. Furthermore since he is attacking mail in voting, active service militiary won't be able to vote anyway.
brad...Yet another technique to buy votes from an utter buffoon.
ronm...They deserve more than a one time payment, which are subject to the whims of an elected president.
bjef...Well, since he's actually taking it from funds allocated to help the military with the housing crisis, he's taking it from the people who probably need it most, to try to buy votes with the other military so those who don't get as much housing support will be unhappy and those who get the bonus will be happy-until much of the money is clawed back in taxes, that is. It's a shell game and we, the taxpayers, are paying for Trump's efforts to buy votes.
spro...I was really hoping we could all at least agree that taking care of our military was a good idea. You never cease to amaze me lefty’s. What method do you support? Probably prefer to shut down our government again and make sure they don’t get paid at all..
tkl7...It’s a publicity stunt. Many aspects of the administration’s actions are against the military and its rigorous procedures.
ocds...Orange policies are, in general, ridiculous. Especially for those rejecting socialism.
bill...The soldiers and sailors stationed around the globe deserve additional consideration. I don’t think this is the most effective way to do it, but I am not aware of any other proposal.
jdrf...President recognizes and honors our military.
stev...Christ, put that imbecile in a home already.
rlil...Give them a pay raise so the money continues to help.
cath...They deserve better! Health benefits, paychecks on time and for all military personnel such as support staff
cger...We owe our service men and women a debt of gratitude for putting their lives on the line for our welfare.
pris...They are underpaid with many on food stamps.
res1...They need better long term support, better pay, and better care for Veterans. A one-time payment although very nice is a stunt.
kath...I’m sure it will be appreciated but we are not doing enough (by far) for our military personnel and their families
253k...Every service member will welcome the extra money - there are no questions about that. Is it the *best* way to support them? To me, that is unclear.
mds4...He is trying partisan policies to buy votes
jllm...Just like he has done his whole life, thinks he can just pay people off to keep them happy. Unfortunately, the money runs out and you’re right back where you started.
brad...Pay down the national debt first. This is the existential threat to the country.
jrhi...A good way to spend some of that tariff money!!
finl...Fix the outdated VA would be better for all and would be more than a one off!
walk...Why not?
davi...Why?
trim...Everything he does is a con game.
chri...This is all about Trump trying to boost Trump.
marg...It’s a one and done gimmick to raise poll numbers and possibly blunt anger among military voters as the Venezuela war venture expands.
lkdn...One time boosts don’t improve families budgets for long however spending will increase and possibly improve business
tuck...Just trying to look better, they will probably get that money taxed at 50 percent or more.
hine...Every little bit helps.
atli...With a defense budget of more than the world's next 10 defense budgets combined, the best way to support Americans would be to reduce the budget by 2/3.
beck...It helps Sure Don’t be so negative! Anything he comes up with, the dems shoot down. They NEVER come up w any ideas but are quick to criticize.
upto...Boost monthly pay across the board at 1.5% of CPI, O-7 & above can be tied to CPI
glst...Fund the VA instead
anne...The commissaries on post provide affordable food for enlisted members, but even their prices are skyrocketing. Plus, the government is talking about closing them down.
mdr2...He thinks a small amount of money will solve any problem with out looking at the big picture. It’s all about $$$.
greg...Should have been more money.
grou...Rather then give Xmas candy to the armed forces the money could be usefully spent by restoring the cuts to Veteran services.
tere...Another gimmick.
step...Only someone who has not served in the military would vote No. Pushing aside politics and a person's opinion of Trump, the average military family will have a much nicer holiday season as a result of the warrior dividend.
broo...The “warrior dividend” seems like pitiful recompense for the gutting of the VA medical system and removal of effective leadership.
bria...Should be way more benefits for risking your life. Short term and long term
capt...We are not at war. DOD budget too high! Why just active duty? Why not reservists who are being used all the time.
barr...How is the federal government claiming money from tariffs? Isn’t a tariff paid by importers and passed on to retailer? As what point in the process does money pass directly to the federal government? From the importer?

Do you think the $1,776 “warrior dividend” payment is an effective way to support active-duty military personnel?

upto...But why pay attention to the Constitution, law, rules, regulations, and procedures now?
bria...Nonsense
ashi...If a reasonably clear law (whose intent is understandable to anyone with common sense) doesn't fit your needs, finding loopholes that can be taken advantage of seems to be the norm in the world we live in.
evel...It's clear the US people intended only 2 terms. The language is clear and concise. It is not vaguely written on purpose.
kdel...Hell fuck no!! Trump is over cooked get em to them trash
drol...It's only in the convicted felons head.
pjpa...Not necessary - Republicans have an incredibly deep bench & Trump will become a trusted source
amkm...Two terms is common knowledge. It states specifically that no president can be elected to more than two terms. It prevents kings and dictators. Duh.
jmla...Anna, your reporting attempts to be neutral but your questions and answer choices are ridiculous.
rayd...The Constitution does not allow a president to be ELECTED to more than two terms. It doesn't say anything about SERVING more than two. Following inauguration, Trump could become Speaker of the House (there's noting in the Constitution to prevent that), the President and Vice President could die simultaneously, and Trump would be next in line.
kelt...hope so, so I can witness another 4 years of liberals brains exploding
jjai...If these scenarios were legitimate, Obama would be a shoe-in for a third term. By 2028 dotard will be in a corner drooling while Miller and Vought continue to run the country.
mick...Any efforts to do so seriously undermine our democracy and constitution. If Dershowitz sees daylight on the 22nd, there must be light years on the 2nd.
cery...This administration and their fan boys & girls are attempting to dismantle our Constitution, Democracy, and rule of law every chance they get. The silver lining may be that we end up closing loopholes, gaps and providing more clear language in all the areas they attack, so this doesn't happen again in the future.
isel...Couldn't be clearer. No President can serve more than 2 terms
eddi...Not a dictatorship
jona...The wording is very clear. The cynic in me is claiming Dershowitz has more to hide and Trump can cover that.
jonw...It could lead to autocracy
ksit...I don't know but I think a scenario could present itself that could require a 3rd term. Being involved in a world war..?
chiu...All the libs would say yes if Obama was in office but no with Trump.
moue...It would be a nightmare
wrob...the president and congress should be limited to two terms.
ferr...If there is actually a 3rd term for this cancerous despot, say goodbye to the U.S. as we know it.
tuck...Absolutely not. He should not have been allowed to run for president last time. He cannot be allowed to try again. The only place he and his administration belong is in prison
spro...I would love to see it just to watch most of you completely freak out! Would laugh for 4 more years while he lives rent free in your heads.
nick...Except in war times.
pwki...Only in our “ rothchild / Rockefeller “ yrs has it been deemed to allow only 2 terms. Let’s get back to following our original constitution guidelines.
mike...Let me put this as eloquently as possible. F*uck drumpf AND now Dershowitz....
jvh....Congress was right when it decided that 2 full terms was the limit.
jeff...The president can run as vice then have the president resign
chri...Two trump administrations have already fucked this country and the world
cger...Nice try, but no way. Now we need term limits for CONGRESS!!! Power corrupts anyone there too long and that includes CONGRESS!!
risa...Trump needs to sleep instead of late night social media. He is his own worst enemy. He needs to show empathy instead of bullying or posting inappropriate content. His post about the Reiner's murder was the worst in a while.
cfio...please God NO!
fnpn...Congess should have term limits
broo...This one would require back bends from the “originalists”
came...This amendment was purposely made after FDR’s presidency We should abide by the Constitution which purposely limits a president to two terms
step...Hard to argue with a Harvard constitutional law professor!
brad...Whether or not it allows for it is irrelevant; Trump will remain in power regardless since there are no longer any rules or norms in the federal government.
john...Dershowitz is trying to protect his own legacy by keeping the Epstein files sealed. He is guilty and is trying to avoid his own prosecution by pandering to Trump.
lora...I just wish we would finally get term limits for Congress. It makes no sense every other elected office has term limits except congress. We need to get rid of the corruption in congress by having term limits.
bjef...The problem is, that is the intent. Could Trump, as he always does, attempt to find some loophole that he can exploit to go around it. Well, just look at how he's lived and cheated his way to the top. Since he won't "remember" what he's said, if he fears he may be indicted, desperation will force him to try.
gvar...NO, NO, NO
dlpn...After FDRs reign, the intent was clear when the amendment was passed.
tere...No, hell no.
brya...Is it two terms in a row?
capt...We need to get this moronic dictator out of office NOW!
usct...There is nothing constitutional about serving a third term. But, the Supreme Court may find some excuse to allow it.
tmar...Come on people. We know what this is about. Abide by the Constitution.
scot...All of it is a distraction from the Epstein files, the money Trump, his family, connected friends and criminals are stealing from the American (and any other) people.
kvas...Unlike the Maggot Heads, I believe in the U.S. Constitution, the rule of law, and democracy. Call me crazy.
crin...He shouldn't be eligible since he claims he won 2020 If He did he must resign immediately.

Should the United States prioritize defense support for Taiwan even if it risks escalating tensions with China?

beck...Mess w china? Scary
deaf...Somebody needs to stand up to China
ksit...Folks, China is not our friend !!! Just like OMAR is not our friend and Hates America! I would send her back where she came from and let her make her improvements there! Another story going down that we don't have any of the facts about. Just like Obama! Where do these people suddenly get millions of dollars? You know they are someone's puppet, they get paid to dance to someone's tune. They certainly don't have the brains on their own!
greg...If Taiwan falls to China militarily, then all US strategic interests in Japan, S Korea, Philippines are in serious jeopardy
cger...Imperialism in this day and age, must be controlled.
jvh....Taiwan is a critical ally. We should also continue to support Ukraine. Forcing Ukraine into a Russian friendly deal is not made palatable by Russia's real estate, oil and chemicals That Witkoff and team lust for.
dora...Come on- there is evil intent- it exists
jdha...Where do you think all the prints are to produce every chip made for the world.
mdul...Trump respects no treaties or agreements, whether he wrote them or inherited them. So, even though the "right" and moral thing to do is to remain firmly in support of Taiwan, Trump has shown that he is willing, even eager, to walk about from US commitments like supporting Ukraine. Therefore, we know he is not doing the right thing with regards to Taiwan because it is the right thing. Instead, Trump recognizes that Taiwan produces over 60% of the world's semiconductors and nearly 90% of the most advanced chips, primarily through giants like TSMC, making it central to the global tech supply chain for AI, smartphones, and other electronics. Having that in the hands of China, who has already demonstrated a willingness to use scarcity to their advantage, is unsustainable for the US. In this rare case, Trump claiming he will support Taiwan is him doing the right thing.
tmar...The world is a crazy place. War is Over (if you want it). Strength is numbers...
atli...The world would be safer and more sane if the US would cut its defense budget by 2/3.
mbec...There is nothing we can do to appease China. China will do what it wants and no other country on this planet will stand in its way. It wants Taiwan and when it is ready, will take Taiwan. The only thing that will stop it is our ability come up with some weapon, (that they have not stolen from us) and threaten to use it should China attack Taiwan. Power and strength is the only thing that will stop the Dragon.
lora...Taiwan belongs to China per the Treaty signed by China, US and other nations in 1949. China may have ignored Taiwan for several years but that does not mean they gave up this territory.
mds4...80 years of democracy in Tawana should be defended.
simo...Look what Ukraine has done fighting the powerful Russia. That should be a warning to any other aggressor. The munitions should be mostly drones. They are the future of war.
jbal...We must do anything to insure their efforts to remain independent
kvas...How badly does Chump want his approval ratings to go up? Badly enough that war with China looks pretty good to him. Even W got a bump with 9/11.
