Rising Self-Defense Shootings

Massachusetts’ Supreme Judicial Court ruled that self-defense can excuse a shooter who accidentally kills a bystander, applying the “transferred intent” doctrine.

Kenneth Santana-Rodriguez, charged with first-degree murder after fatally shooting a nail salon worker during a self-defense incident, may face lesser charges based on recklessness. Similarly, Sergio Ramos Carranza in California killed an attacker and a bystander but received probation after prosecutors cited justifiable self-defense.

Gun-control groups link these deaths to stand-your-ground and permitless carry laws in 30 states, while gun-rights advocates blame aggressors. Increased gun carrying has led to more accidental bystander fatalities, complicating justice for victims’ families under expanding self-defense protections.

When a shooter kills an innocent bystander while defending themselves, should they be held criminally responsible?

China’s Fighter Jets

Chinese J-15 fighter jets locked fire-control radar twice onto Japanese F-15s over international waters near Okinawa. The first lock lasted three minutes, the second 30, with jets launched from China’s Liaoning carrier conducting drills between Okinawa and Miyako Island.

Japan’s Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi called the actions “dangerous” and formally protested. Japan confirmed no airspace breach but viewed the radar locks as threatening. The incident follows heightened tensions after Japan’s Prime Minister warned of possible military response if China acts against Taiwan.

China recently deployed over 100 naval and coast guard vessels in East Asian waters, escalating regional friction amid the sensitive Taiwan and East China Sea issues.

Should Japan respond militarily if China continues such actions near its airspace?

I wasn’t planning to stare into the abyss today.

But once I opened this file, I couldn't look away.

It details a silent crisis that is already here—a "shadow pandemic" that threatens to bankrupt global economies and erase our most precious asset: our memories.

I intended to scan it. Instead, I studied every line.

It dissects the "Toxic Triad"—Amyloid plaques, Tau tangles, and Neuroinflammation—that are likely waging a hidden war in your brain right now.

It reveals why the "Amyloid Hypothesis" we trusted for 30 years might have been wrong.

And it uncovers the terrifying link between your gut health, your heart, and the eventual fade of your cognitive faculties.

Most importantly, it shows why 45% of this destiny might be in your control—if you act before the symptoms start.

This isn't just a medical report. It is a survival guide for the aging brain.

I’ve left the full Deep Dive below. It might be the most important thing you read this year.

US Consumer Spending

US consumer spending was flat in September 2025 after adjusting for inflation, with nominal growth of 0.3%, down from 0.5% in August. Personal income grew 0.4% nominally but only 0.1% inflation-adjusted.

Goods spending declined 0.4%, driven by drops in motor vehicles and recreational goods, while services spending rose 0.25%. The savings rate stayed at 4.7%, down one point since April. Core PCE inflation held at 0.2% monthly and 2.8% annually. Labor market softness and reduced government aid pressured middle- and lower-income consumers.

Third-quarter GDP growth is projected at 3.8% annualized. Expectations rise for a 25-basis-point Fed rate cut in December.

Given recent data, do you think the current inflation level is primarily a temporary problem or a long-term challenge?

I would hand over a shoebox of receipts and simply hope the damage wasn't fatal.

But then I found this "Briefing Packet."

It completely reframes the conversation with your CPA.

Instead of a historical review of what you spent, it creates a "strategic arsenal" for what you will keep.

It exposes the "Tax Bomb" currently ticking inside your 401(k).

It reveals the invisible "QBI Apocalypse" that strikes if you earn a single dollar over the limit.

And it explains why your "Effective Tax Rate" is a vanity metric that is silently costing you a fortune.

You cannot fight a war without a map.

This is the map.

I’ve left the full checklist below. It changes everything.

Five Overlooked Tax Credits

Five overlooked 2025 tax credits can reduce tax bills or increase refunds:

1. Retirement Savings Contributions Credit: Up to 50% of IRA, 401(k), 403(b), and ABLE contributions, max $2,000; income limits apply.

2. Child and Dependent Care Credit: Covers up to $3,000 for one child, $6,000 for two+, 20%-50% of expenses, no income limits but reduced for higher earners.

3. Lifetime Learning Credit: 20% of up to $10,000 in education expenses; phases out above $80,000 (single) and $160,000 (married).

4. Energy-Efficient Home Improvement Credit: 30% of qualifying improvements, max $3,200, expires after 2025.

5. Earned Income Tax Credit: Refundable up to $8,046 for families with children; income and investment limits apply. Claim with specific IRS forms.

Does the complexity of claiming these five tax credits discourage you from trying to maximize your refund?

Vitamin C Boosts Skin Collagen

A study involving adults consuming two SunGold kiwifruit daily for eight weeks (about 250 mg vitamin C) showed increased blood and skin vitamin C levels, leading to thicker skin and faster epidermal cell renewal.

Tests confirmed enhanced skin thickness, elasticity, UV protection, and collagen production. Dietary vitamin C was efficiently absorbed into all skin layers, unlike topical creams which penetrate poorly. Researchers recommend about 250 mg vitamin C daily from foods, as it is not stored by the body.

Other vitamin-C-rich foods like citrus, berries, and broccoli are likely beneficial. This is the first study proving dietary vitamin C improves skin structure and function across all layers.

Would you be willing to commit to eating two vitamin-C-rich fruits daily for visible skin improvements?

No Laughing Gas Matter

Seven clinical trials with 247 participants found inhaling nitrous oxide at 25% or 50% concentrations rapidly reduced major depressive disorder symptoms within two hours.

The 50% dose was more effective but caused more mild side effects like nausea and headaches. Relief typically lasted under a week per dose, but repeated treatments extended benefits. About 48% of depression patients resist current therapies. Nitrous oxide likely works by calming the brain’s glutamatergic system and increasing cerebral blood flow. No serious safety issues arose.

Further research is planned, including an NHS trial, to establish optimal dosing, long-term safety, and integration into treatment regimens for treatment-resistant depression affecting over 300 million people globally.

Would you consider trying nitrous oxide as a treatment option for depression?
