Neuralink Brain Implant Challenges

Neuralink (Elon Musk's brain chip company) encountered technical difficulties with its first human implant.

The surgery, conducted in January on Noland Arbaugh, revealed that the implanted device's electrode-studded threads began retracting from brain tissue.

Consequently, this malfunction led to connectivity issues, rendering the device less responsive to brain signals.

Neuralink has stated that software adjustments have been made to compensate for these hardware shortcomings.

Robinhood is expanding its offerings with new products like a credit card and a futures trading platform.

The card, available to Gold subscribers, offers perks such as no annual fees and 3% cash back in reward points.

Moreover, Robinhood introduced a retirement account with benefits including contribution matches. Accumulating $4.2 billion in assets under custody.

TikTok Labeling AI-Generated Videos

TikTok has announced it will start labeling content created using artificial intelligence (AI) when uploaded from external sources. Why? To combat misinformation.

Furthermore, TikTok is adopting the Content Credentials technology developed by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity.

This will attach metadata to content, allowing instant recognition and labeling of AI-generated materials. The credentials will remain with the content even after it is downloaded. Providing transparency about its creation and edits.

Meta, Google, and platforms like YouTube are also moving towards implementing similar AI labeling systems. This will assist users in distinguishing between authentic and synthetic media.

Profluent, a Berkeley startup, has unveiled an AI platform that can imagine and create novel CRISPR proteins never seen in nature.

Traditionally, CRISPR systems have been employed in precise gene editing across medicine and agriculture. However, these systems have limitations like off-target edits or insufficient cellular alterations.

Profluent's platform (OpenCRISPR-1) designs proteins that could potentially lead to more precise and efficient gene editing tools.
