Trump’s 2025 Tax Plan
President Trump revealed his tax priorities during a meeting with House GOP leaders. Key proposals include ending the carried interest loophole, which allows private equity managers to pay lower taxes, and expanding the state and local tax (SALT) deduction.
Additional priorities involve eliminating taxes on tips, Social Security benefits, and overtime pay. Trump aims to renew his 2017 tax cuts. He also seeks to cut taxes for American-made products and eliminate special tax breaks for billionaire sports team owners.
Republicans are planning a sweeping tax bill that could cost trillions. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent emphasized the urgency of addressing affordability issues.
Senate Republicans propose a $300 billion measure focused on border security, while House Speaker Mike Johnson favors combining tax cuts and immigration reform into one bill.

Drone Warfare Dominates Battles in Ukraine
The conflict around Pokrovsk intensifies as Russia and Ukraine engage in a relentless drone war. Russian troops outnumber Ukraine’s 5-to-1 on the eastern front. Ukraine is deploying 200,000 drones monthly to counterattack Russian movements.
Surveillance drones patrol the 600-mile frontline. Explosive drones target Russian soldiers. However, Russian advances continue, with heavy casualties reported on both sides; Russia suffers at least seven casualties for every Ukrainian soldier lost.
Russia started launching flanking operations instead of head-on assaults, complicating Ukrainian defense efforts. Drones now threaten crucial supply routes, reducing their capacity to just 10% of normal.
Fog has further limited drone effectiveness, enabling Russian forces to consolidate their gains.

Amazon's Q4 Performance
Amazon reported net sales of $187.8 billion, up 10% from $170.0 billion in Q4 2023. Excluding foreign exchange impacts, sales increased by 11%. AWS, Amazon's cloud segment, generated $28.8 billion, reflecting a 19% growth.
Net income nearly doubled to $20.0 billion ($1.86 per diluted share), compared to $10.6 billion ($1.00 per diluted share) in Q4 2023. Operating income surged to $21.2 billion, compared to $13.2 billion in the previous year.
For the full year 2024, Amazon's net sales hit $638.0 billion, a growth of 11% from $574.8 billion in 2023. Operating income rose to $68.6 billion, up from $36.9 billion.
Amazon expects Q1 2025 net sales between $151.0 billion and $155.5 billion, a growth of 5% to 9%. However, the projected operating income falls short of analyst estimates and is expected to be between $14.0 billion and $18.0 billion.

The Universe's Largest Radio Jet
Astronomers discovered the largest radio jet ever observed in the early universe. It streams from the quasar J1601+3102, which formed just 1.2 billion years after the Big Bang.
This jet measures at least 215,000 light-years across, making it twice the width of the Milky Way galaxy.
The quasar is a powerful source of energy, with a mass equivalent to 450 million suns. It produces radio waves due to gas and dust falling into its central black hole. Despite its massive radio jet, the quasar itself has a relatively small black hole.
The extreme nature of this quasar made it detectable, allowing it to overcome interference from cosmic microwave background radiation. The research provides insight into early cosmic structures and the formation of jets.

Adhibin Inhibits Cancer Metastasis
A team from Hannover Medical School discovered Adhibin, a synthetic agent that disrupts cancer cell migration. Unlike conventional drugs, which harm healthy cells, Adhibin acts selectively, minimizing toxicity.
Cancer cells usually spread by breaking away from their primary site, using proteins called Rho GTPases to navigate and attach to new cells. When these proteins are overly active, they can trigger cancer progression.
Adhibin targets myosin motor proteins, which are vital for cell movement. It inhibits Rho GTPases, effectively halting tumor cell migration and preventing metastasis.
In tests with tumor cells and mini-organ models, researchers noted that adding Adhibin could nearly freeze cell movement. Once removed, the tumor cells regained their ability to migrate.
