Walz and Vance Face Off in VP Debate
Walz, the Democratic governor of Minnesota, emphasized "steady leadership" amid global crises, contrasting it with Vance's promise of "peace through strength" under Trump.
Walz attacked Trumpâs broken promise to build a border wall, claiming only 2% construction occurred. In return, Vance accused Harris of failing on immigration as the "border czar."
Vance stated that relocating manufacturing would combat climate change while Walz highlighted renewable energy investments.
About abortion, Walz stressed womenâs rights and Vance defended the state-by-state approach.

Iran Attacks Israel
Iran launched 181 ballistic missiles at Israel, sparking widespread chaos. The attack occurred at 7:30pm local time, causing almost 10 million Israelis to seek shelter.
Israeli defenses intercepted most missiles. The US assisted in intercepting missiles and bolstering defenses, with President Biden reaffirming support for Israel.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the attack a "big mistake" and warned that Iran would face consequences.
Iran claimed the strike was retaliation for the deaths of key leaders from Hezbollah and Hamas. It threatened even stronger responses if Israel retaliated.

How Fentanyl Traffickers Exploit Trade Laws
Fentanyl traffickers exploit de minimis rule (a US trade law). This provision allows packages valued up to $800 to enter duty-free with minimal checks.
In fiscal 2023, the US received over 1 billion such packages, a rise from 134 million in fiscal 2015. The US processes 4 million de minimis parcels daily, making it hard for customs to inspect every shipment.
Over 60% of these shipments come from China. Traffickers use this loophole to send precursor chemicals disguised as ordinary items.
Proposed bills could ban all Chinese goods from entering through de minimis and require more information about these packages.
