Navy Shake-Up
Navy Secretary John Phelan was fired for moving too slowly on President Trump’s shipbuilding goals. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Deputy Steve Feinberg led the decision, citing clashes over military priorities.
Phelan, a Trump ally with no military experience, pushed the "Trump Class" battleship under a $65.8 billion 2027 shipbuilding budget. Hung Cao, a Navy veteran and former Senate candidate, became acting Navy secretary.
Since February 2025, Hegseth has ousted several top Pentagon leaders amid Iran tensions. Phelan’s firing occurred during the Navy’s annual conference and shortly after lobbying lawmakers.

Should civilian leaders without military experience be allowed to serve as the Secretary of the Navy?
Redistricting Backfire
President Trump pushed Texas to redraw congressional maps in 2025, aiming to gain Republican House seats.
In response, seven Democratic-leaning states, including Virginia and California, enacted new maps favoring Democrats, potentially flipping several seats. Virginia voters approved a Democrat-favoring map, possibly flipping four Republican districts, but a judge blocked it over misleading ballot language; the state plans to appeal.
Republicans gained seats in Texas (+3-5), North Carolina (+1), and Missouri (+1), with pending maps in Florida and Louisiana possibly adding more. The House currently stands at 217 Republicans, 212 Democrats, and 1 independent.
Courts and the Supreme Court's upcoming ruling on redistricting could impact outcomes ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Is it appropriate for political parties to redraw maps during a mid-decade cycle to gain advantage?
Spirit Bailout
The Trump administration is divided over a potential $500 million government loan to Spirit Airlines, which faces bankruptcy due to rising fuel, labor costs, and operational issues.
The loan could include equity warrants for government ownership. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick supports the bailout, citing job preservation and political benefits before midterms.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy opposes it, doubting profitability and highlighting political risks. Senators Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton also express skepticism about a government-run airline. Spirit employs 14,000 workers.
The White House is closely monitoring the situation, with negotiations ongoing, as the aviation industry remains critical to U.S. travel and employment.

Should the government provide financial assistance to Spirit Airlines despite its recent bankruptcies?
Your prescription is about to become illegal.
Big Pharma faces a $200 billion "patent cliff" by 2030. They are losing their monopolies on 70 blockbuster drugs, so they are using the FDA to wipe out the competition.
They call it the "Apothecary Purge." It is a quiet, systematic shutdown of the compounding pharmacies that make custom, affordable medicines.
They are targeting the custom thyroid meds that actually give you energy. The bioidentical hormones that help you sleep through the night. The $200 weight-loss peptides they want to force you to buy for $1,000.
Millions of Americans will soon walk into their clinic and get handed a denial slip. By the time this hits the evening news, it will be too late to secure your supply.
We spent weeks investigating this crackdown. We uncovered exactly what the FDA is targeting next.
More importantly, we built the "Prescription Fortress Protocol"—a step-by-step guide to legally stockpiling a 12-month supply of your medications before the gate slams shut.

Flying Cars Incoming
Xpeng plans full-scale delivery of its flying cars in 2027, with over 7,000 orders for its modular eVTOL. Mass production starts in 2026 with an initial target of 5,000 units annually, scaling to 10,000.
It will mass-produce IRON humanoid robots by Q4 2026, aiming for roles in reception and sales; the robot division may surpass automotive in 10–20 years. Robotaxi testing begins in 2024 in Guangzhou, with production of hundreds to thousands units planned within 12–18 months.
Xpeng operates in 60 countries, targeting over 50% revenue from overseas within 5–10 years. Partnerships include Volkswagen; AI is integrated via its Turing chip and VLA 2.0 model across products.

Mitochondria Targeted Delivery
Researchers developed MitoCatch, a platform that delivers healthy mitochondria to damaged cells using engineered protein binders targeting cell surfaces (MitoCatch-C), mitochondria (MitoCatch-M), or both (MitoCatch-Bi).
This system improves mitochondrial uptake in neurons, retinal, cardiac, endothelial, and immune cells compared to untargeted methods. Delivered mitochondria remain functional, undergoing normal fusion and fission.
MitoCatch enables tuning delivery efficiency and specificity. In vitro, it enhanced survival of damaged neurons; in vivo, it increased retinal ganglion cell survival without causing immune response or toxicity in animal models.
MitoCatch represents the first precise mitochondrial transplantation platform, offering potential treatments for diseases linked to mitochondrial dysfunction, such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and heart failure.

Cancer’s Hidden Code
NYU Langone researchers found cancer cells survive treatment without DNA mutations by using AP-1 protein pairs (dimers) to rapidly rewire gene activity.
These dimers test various gene patterns under stress, selecting those that enhance survival through epigenetic changes passed to daughter cells. This mechanism allows tumors to resist drugs without altering DNA sequences.
Targeting AP-1’s gene regulation could prevent drug resistance. The team plans to map AP-1 dimers with CRISPR and single-cell analysis.
The study, funded by five NIH grants, suggests shifting cancer treatment focus from killing cells to blocking their adaptive gene activity. Similar AP-1 mechanisms may affect brain memory and skin healing.

Do you find it surprising that cancer cells can adapt to treatment without changing their DNA?
