Hormuz Reignites
The U.S. struck more than 80 Iranian targets, including air defenses, command-and-control networks, radar, anti-ship missiles, drone launch sites, port facilities and over 60 Revolutionary Guard small boats, after attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Washington also revoked a waiver for new Iranian oil sales, with a July 17 grace period for existing transactions.
Iran vowed retaliation and said it hit 85 U.S. sites in Bahrain and Kuwait, while both countries reported incoming missiles and drones.
Brent crude rose more than 2% to around $76. Talks on reopening the strait and Iran’s nuclear program are under heavier pressure.

McConnell Watch
Mitch McConnell, 84, has been hospitalized for more than three weeks since June 14, with no public explanation from his office.
Top Senate Republicans say they recently spoke with him: John Thune said their discussion covered national security, and John Barrasso said McConnell was “fully engaged” and eager to return.
A spokesman said McConnell is improving and working on Kentucky and Senate issues. His office has released few details, though it said he was receiving excellent care.
McConnell has had recent health problems, including a 2023 concussion, a 2024 wrist injury, and a flu-related hospitalization this year. He plans to retire in January 2027.

Immune Reset
Researchers engineered mesenchymal stem cells to produce alpha-1 antitrypsin and tested them in mice with new-onset Type 1 diabetes.
The treatment reversed diabetes, protected insulin-producing pancreatic cells and reduced immune attacks on them.
Single-cell analysis showed more protective T-regulatory cells, fewer CD8+ killer T-cells and some exhausted attacker cells.
The stem cells vanished within hours or days, but the immune reset lasted. The team is now testing safety and effectiveness in patients with newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetes, and plans studies in lupus and chronic pancreatitis.

Manhattan Alarm
A 37-story former Pfizer tower at 235 East 42nd Street buckled during an apartment conversion after two interior columns on the 21st floor failed, causing floors 21 to 26 to sag.
No one was injured; workers evacuated after seeing cracks around 8 a.m. The city evacuated nearby buildings, including the Kennedy International School and the Israeli Consulate, and closed nearby streets.
Developers say the problem involved underreinforced columns in the northwest corner and added top-floor weight; they expect only a short delay.
Crews are installing shoring and steel supports, while officials assess the building’s future.

Doctors still miss heart attacks in women, often because symptoms are labeled “atypical.”
Women under 55 in the U.S. are seven times more likely than men to be sent home from the emergency department without proper cardiac testing.
More than 90% of women and men have chest pain during a heart attack, but women also often have nausea, breathlessness, fatigue, jaw pain or pain between the shoulder blades, which can blur diagnosis.
Cardiovascular disease is the top killer of U.S. women, yet they receive less aggressive treatment. Experts advise calling 911 for new chest discomfort or unexplained shortness of breath.

Adderall Fallout
Done Global founder Ruthia He was sentenced to 72 months in prison and fined $1 million; former clinical president David Brody got 24 months and a $1 million fine.
Prosecutors said the telehealth company illegally distributed more than 37 million Adderall pills, arranged more than 40 million stimulant prescriptions since the pandemic began, and defrauded insurers of over $12 million.
Brody allegedly prescribed 394,324 Schedule II pills for 6,559 members he never evaluated. He and Brody were convicted in November 2025 on drug-distribution and health-care-fraud charges; He also faced obstruction charges.
