Court Blocks Trump's Attempt to Remove Fed Governor
A U.S. appeals court denied President Trump’s attempt to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, affirming that she likely was denied due process. Cook has not faced criminal charges related to mortgage fraud allegations.
The ruling allows her to attend a Fed policy meeting on September 16-17, where a U.S. interest rate cut is expected. The decision was 2-1, with two judges supporting Cook, while one dissented.
Trump's administration argues for broad presidential authority over Fed appointments, but the court emphasized the importance of Cook’s role for the Fed's credibility. Trump nominated Stephen Miran to the Fed board, confirmed by a narrow Senate vote.

Second Strike Against Venezuelan Drug Cartels
The U.S. military launched its second strike against a Venezuelan drug vessel in September, resulting in three deaths. This follows a previous strike on September 2 that killed eleven.
President Trump asserted these actions address threats to national security posed by drug trafficking. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated U.S. forces are engaged in active counter-narcotics efforts, potentially expanding to land operations.
Concerns about the legality of these strikes have arisen, with Senator Adam Schiff drafting a resolution for congressional approval.
Human rights groups condemned the actions as violations of international law, while Venezuelan President Maduro rejected U.S. claims about the individuals killed.

The pattern is clear: when innovative companies successfully integrate AI into everyday products, tech giants pay billions to acquire them.
Google paid $3.2B for Nest.
Amazon spent $1.2B on Ring.
LG just acquired startup Homey, signaling their move into the smart home.
Now, a new AI-powered smart home company is following their exact path to acquisition—but is still available to everyday investors at just $2.25 per share.
Over 10 patents, 200% year-over-year growth, and a forecast to 5x revenue this year — this company is moving fast to seize the smart home opportunity.
The acquisition pattern is predictable. The opportunity to get in before it happens is not.

TikTok on the Brink
U.S. and Chinese officials have reached a framework agreement for TikTok to transfer ownership from ByteDance to a U.S. entity. This follows security concerns over user data privacy, with TikTok having 170 million U.S. users.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed discussions in Madrid and noted a possible 90-day extension on the September 17 deadline. President Trump and President Xi Jinping are set to discuss the deal further.
Trade talks are ongoing, covering broader issues like export controls. Both sides aim for more meetings and a potential summit, though any agreement may face further scrutiny from Congress.

U.S. Labor Department Seeks Part-Time Economists to Support CPI Reporting
The U.S. Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is hiring 25 part-time assistant economists to enhance Consumer Price Index (CPI) data collection following accuracy criticisms.
In August, BLS revised nonfarm payroll figures, revealing a net loss of 258,000 jobs, leading to the dismissal of BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer. The agency's funding issues have resulted in a 15% workforce reduction and the suspension of CPI data collection for certain items.
By September, statistical imputations comprised 36% of CPI data, compared to 9% the previous year. Part-time economists will earn $21.54 to $25.39 per hour as the BLS seeks to improve economic indicator quality.

Antioxidants Reverse Cancer-Induced Exhaustion in T-Cells
Recent research shows that telomere damage in T cells is driven by tumor-induced stress, including low oxygen and high acidity, which overloads mitochondria and produces reactive oxygen species (ROS).
In engineered mice, T cells became dysfunctional due to either mitochondrial or telomere damage. Researchers tested an antioxidant protein anchored to telomeres, which improved T cell function and enhanced survival rates and tumor reduction in treated mice.
This finding may improve CAR-T therapy by making T cells more resistant to oxidative damage. Future plans include developing similar strategies for human T cells and exploring the impact of chemotherapy on telomere health in immunotherapy responses.

Unlocking the Aging Code
Research reveals protein Menin's role in aging, particularly in the hypothalamus. Reduced Menin levels lead to neuroinflammation, affecting cognitive and physical health in mice, resulting in decreased bone density and cognitive function.
Restoring Menin improved skin thickness, bone mass, and cognition in older mice, while D-serine levels, crucial for memory, decrease with age. D-serine supplementation showed cognitive benefits, but did not affect physical aging markers.
No human trials have confirmed these findings, leaving the potential for Menin and D-serine therapies uncertain. Key implications include Menin's decline with age, its impact on inflammation, cognition, and D-serine's crucial role in memory.
