Election Deadline Clash
The Supreme Court will rule on whether states can count mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day but received afterward.
Conservative justices favor blocking these late ballots, affecting 14 states that allow up to five-day grace periods, plus others for military and overseas voters.
In 2024, over 750,000 late ballots arrived within grace periods, making up 0.1% to 3% of votes. The Trump administration and GOP argue Election Day is the strict deadline under federal law.
Mail voting accounts for nearly 30% of ballots, used heavily by Democrats, rural, and military voters. A ruling blocking late ballots could exclude hundreds of thousands nationwide, impacting future elections and voter access.

Most of us rely on an annual physical to sleep well at night. But here is the terrifying truth: 50% of heart attack fatalities occur within hours of the first symptom, often before a patient can even seek help.
Even scarier? Half of the people hospitalized for heart attacks had "normal" cholesterol levels by standard guidelines.
I just went down the rabbit hole on modern cardiology, and I realized most of us are using a playbook from 1972. This deep dive exposes the "Illusion of Safety." We break down the "Widowmaker" phenomenon , the genetic "time bomb" called Lp(a) that 20% of the population carries unknowingly , and why a standard stress test often misses the lethal "soft plaque" waiting to rupture.
This isn’t just about living longer; it’s about ensuring your "healthspan" matches your lifespan.
Stop guessing with average care. Learn why your arteries might be aging decades faster than you are and the specific tests you need to demand.

Trump Account Goldmine
Starting this summer, parents can open "Trump accounts" for newborns (2025-2028 births receive a $1,000 government seed).
Annual contributions up to $5,000 for 18 years grow tax-advantaged with a 7% return. Early withdrawals face taxes and penalties, but converting to a Roth IRA around age 24 allows tax-free growth and no required minimum distributions.
Wealthier families contributing the max could convert about $278,000 at 24 with taxes paid upfront, resulting in over $3 million tax-free by retirement.
Over four million accounts exist; 800,000 qualify for the seed. Contribution limits may rise with inflation after 2028. Families should prioritize college and personal retirement savings before funding these accounts.

Router Risks
The FCC banned imports of all new foreign-made consumer routers effective March 23, 2026, citing cybersecurity risks to U.S. critical infrastructure.
China controls about 60% of the U.S. home router market, with foreign devices linked to cyberattacks like Volt Typhoon and Salt Typhoon. The ban targets new, unapproved models, while existing routers remain allowed.
The FCC’s Covered List prevents banned devices’ import, sale, or marketing, though exemptions exist for agencies like the Pentagon. This follows a 2025 ban on Chinese drones as part of broader efforts to reduce reliance on foreign technology.
Texas sued TP-Link over alleged deceptive marketing and Beijing access allegations, which TP-Link denies.

Runway Disaster
An Air Canada Express Bombardier CRJ-900 collided with a firefighting vehicle on LaGuardia’s Runway 4 during landing, killing both pilots.
The fire truck was responding to a separate United Airlines incident and carried two Port Authority officers, who were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Forty-one passengers and crew were injured; 32 have been released.
The crash forced LaGuardia’s closure until 2 p.m. Monday, leaving one runway operational and causing widespread flight disruptions. Air traffic control initially cleared the fire truck to cross but then ordered it to stop too late to prevent the collision.
An air traffic controller admitted fault. The FAA and NTSB are investigating, amid concerns over staffing and airport safety.

Brain Age Risk
Researchers analyzed sleep EEG data from 7,000 individuals aged 40 to 94 without dementia, tracking them for up to 17 years; about 1,000 developed dementia.
When “brain age” from sleep patterns exceeded actual age by 10 years, dementia risk rose nearly 40%. Common sleep metrics did not predict dementia, but specific EEG features—like kurtosis, indicating sharp brain activity spikes—linked to lower risk.
These findings persisted after accounting for lifestyle and genetic factors. Measuring brain age via sleep EEG may enable early, non-invasive dementia risk detection, potentially through wearable devices.
Improving sleep quality and managing health factors could slow brain aging, though no cure exists.

Magnetic Heart Shield
Millions with atrial fibrillation face increased stroke risk due to clots forming in the left atrial appendage. A new technique injects a magnetic liquid into this heart pouch via catheter, where it hardens into a flexible "magnetogel" that seals the area.
Tested in rats and pigs, the gel remained stable for 10 months, showed less tissue damage than metal implants, and encouraged smooth heart lining growth.
Existing treatments include anticoagulants, which increase bleeding risk, and metal implants, which can fail or harm tissue.
This gel aims to create a precise, adaptable seal and integrate with tissue but remains experimental, requiring more animal studies and solutions for MRI interference before human trials.
