Hormuz Blockade

President Trump announced an immediate U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, halting all ship traffic through a route handling 20% of global oil and LNG supplies.

This cuts off Iran’s main oil export, about 1.7 million barrels daily, driving oil prices up 30%, with some cargoes over $140 a barrel. The move follows failed 21-hour peace talks in Islamabad where Iran refused to halt its nuclear program.

Iran deployed naval special forces and warned military action would break the ceasefire. Trump threatened strikes on Iran’s infrastructure and expanded blockade enforcement to international waters.

The escalation risks worsening regional conflict and global fuel shortages amid a fragile ceasefire after a six-week war.

Hungary Elections

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was defeated after 16 years. Opposition leader Péter Magyar’s Tisza Party leads with 55.5% versus Orbán’s Fidesz at 37.9%, amid record voter turnout.

Orbán reshaped politics, aligned with Putin and Trump, and centralized power, amid EU sanctions freezing €17 billion due to democratic backsliding.

Magyar, who split from Fidesz two years ago, pledges to restore EU relations, reduce Russian influence, and unlock frozen funds.

This election could shift Hungary toward EU mainstream policies after years of vetos on Ukraine-related measures, driven by public frustration over corruption and economic stagnation. Official results are pending completion of mail-in ballot counts.

Inflation Spikes

U.S. inflation hit 3.3% year-over-year in March, driven by a 21.2% monthly rise in gasoline and even larger jumps in fuel oil (30.7%) and diesel (30.8%) amid U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict.

Energy prices, with oil at $95 per barrel, caused nearly 75% of the inflation increase. Core inflation rose modestly by 0.2% monthly and 2.6% annually, with some categories declining. Housing costs climbed 0.3% monthly and 3% annually; airline fares surged 2.7% monthly.

Consumer spending rose 0.5% in February despite a 0.1% drop in income; real wage growth is near zero. The Fed monitors inflation closely amid energy-driven uncertainty, holding rates steady for now.

You spend 40 years building wealth for your kids.

Then a judge hands half of it to an ex-in-law you can't stand.

It happens every single day. It’s called the "Wealth Hijack."

Most people think they are safe. They have a will. They have a revocable trust. They even made their kid sign a prenup.

Spoiler alert: Divorce lawyers eat standard prenups for breakfast. One wrong bank deposit, and your family's money is legally theirs.

Right now, $124 trillion is changing hands in the Great Wealth Transfer. Family lawyers know this. They aren't just fighting over a couple’s joint checking account anymore. They are actively targeting your legacy.

But the ultra-wealthy don't lose their money in divorce court. Why?

They don't use standard trusts. They use a "Bloodline Fortress" featuring a "Floating Spouse Provision."

The exact second an in-law files for divorce, a legal trapdoor opens. They get absolutely nothing.

I just published a deep dive on exactly how this legal siphon works—and the exact script you need to give your lawyer to stop it.

Read the deep dive here before your kid’s next anniversary.

OpenAI Breach Alert

OpenAI detected a supply chain attack linked to North Korea hackers exploiting a compromised Axios library version on March 31, 2026.

A GitHub Actions workflow ran malicious Axios code with access to macOS app signing certificates used for ChatGPT Desktop, Codex, Codex CLI, and Atlas. No user data, API keys, or internal systems were breached.

OpenAI revoked affected certificates and requires macOS app updates by May 8, 2026, after which older versions will lose support.

Separately, a Molotov cocktail was thrown near CEO Sam Altman’s home on April 11; the suspect was arrested.

Is it likely that the Axios breach had indirect consequences beyond what OpenAI disclosed (e.g., undetected data access)?

Artemis II

NASA’s Artemis II mission completed the first crewed lunar orbit in over 50 years. Four astronauts traveled 694,481 miles, reaching 252,756 miles from Earth, surpassing Apollo 13’s distance.

Launched April 1, the Orion spacecraft "Integrity" reached within 4,067 miles of the Moon. The crew tested life support, piloting systems, and conducted scientific experiments including AVATAR on human tissue in space.

They captured 7,000+ images and observed a total solar eclipse. Reentry reached Mach 33; the capsule splashed down safely off San Diego, with prompt astronaut recovery.

Mission challenges included valve and toilet malfunctions. Artemis II sets the stage for Artemis III’s lunar lander docking test and Artemis IV’s planned 2028 lunar south pole landing.

Is establishing a sustained human presence on the Moon a necessary step before sending astronauts to Mars?

Osteoarthritis Remedy

Researchers developed an experimental osteoarthritis drug that, via a single slow-release injection, repaired cartilage and bone in animal tests within weeks.

The drug activates the body’s cells to rebuild joints and includes an injectable implant to patch cartilage gaps, targeting different disease stages. Human trials are planned within 18 months, pending further animal safety tests.

Osteoarthritis affects millions with limited treatment options beyond pain management or joint replacement. The project is funded by the US government’s ARPA-H program.

Related studies identify proteins linked to cartilage loss and suggest diabetes drugs like semaglutide may protect joints by boosting cell metabolism.

Would you prefer an injectable implant to patch cartilage gaps rather than undergoing joint replacement surgery?
