President Trump Ousts Kristi Noem

President Trump will remove Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary effective March 31, appointing Senator Markwayne Mullin as her replacement pending Senate approval.

Noem’s tenure faced criticism over immigration enforcement, including a $220 million self-deportation ad campaign, expensive luxury jets, and controversial actions like immigration raids and unverified terrorism claims after a fatal federal operation.

Internal reports accused agency leaders of obstructing investigations under her leadership. Noem’s top adviser, Corey Lewandowski, is also leaving DHS. Noem will become special envoy for the "Shield of the Americas" security initiative.

The changes occur amid ongoing DHS challenges managing a $35 billion budget and political tensions within Trump’s administration.

Iran War Update

Anthropic Declared a National Security Risk

The Pentagon labeled Anthropic a supply chain risk, cutting it off from all U.S. military contracts.

The dispute centers on Pentagon demands for full AI access versus Anthropic’s restrictions to prevent use in autonomous weapons and mass surveillance. President Trump ordered all federal agencies to cease using Anthropic’s AI within six months.

Anthropic, valued at $380 billion with $20 billion expected annual revenue, plans to challenge the designation. Previously the sole AI provider approved for classified military use, Anthropic’s AI supports U.S. operations in Iran and Venezuela.

Rival OpenAI won a Pentagon contract with fewer restrictions. The move may affect partners like Lockheed Martin, Amazon, and Google.

Crypto Clash

CBD Improves Metabolic Health

CBD and CBG, cannabis compounds, reduce liver fat and improve metabolic health by boosting energy reserves and restoring lysosomal enzymes in liver cells.

They increase phosphocreatine, an energy buffer, aiding the liver under metabolic stress from high-fat diets. Reactivating cathepsins breaks down harmful lipids, lowering triglycerides and ceramides linked to inflammation and insulin resistance.

CBG outperforms CBD by significantly reducing body fat, enhancing insulin sensitivity, and lowering total and LDL cholesterol.

These effects offer potential new treatments for metabolically-dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), which affects one-third of adults globally. Further research is needed before clinical application.

Babies Exposed to 42 PFAs

Researchers analyzed umbilical cord blood from 120 newborns (2003–2006) and detected 42 types of PFAS ("forever chemicals"), up from 8 identified in previous studies.

PFAS, used in food packaging and fabrics, persist in the environment and accumulate in the body. A new, non-targeted scanning method uncovered many previously unknown PFAS chemicals, with only 4 overlapping older findings.

Unlike earlier research, exposure differences between first-born and later-born babies disappeared using this broader test.

The study did not assess health effects, but past research links PFAS to kidney issues, cancer risk, reduced fetal growth, and altered brain development.
