Peace Gambit

President Trump announced direct peace talks between Israel and Lebanon. Israel and Lebanon agreed to a 10-day cease-fire after nearly seven weeks of fighting that killed over 2,000 in Lebanon and 14 in Israel.

Hezbollah, the main conflict party, fired 8,000 rockets but remains excluded from talks, raising doubts about lasting peace. Lebanon’s government bans Hezbollah’s military actions but struggles to enforce it.

The cease-fire opens prospects for renewed U.S.-Iran talks, with Trump optimistic about a deal halting Iran’s nuclear ambitions and ensuring Strait of Hormuz navigation. Brent crude stands near $116 amid regional tensions and a U.S. naval blockade.

Do you believe excluding Hezbollah from the Israel-Lebanon peace talks decreases the chances of a lasting agreement?

Mythos Deal Brewing

The U.S. government is preparing to grant eight federal agencies, including Defense, Treasury, and Homeland Security, access to Anthropic’s AI model, Mythos, which detects cybersecurity vulnerabilities faster than traditional methods.

The Office of Management and Budget is establishing safeguards for use. Despite the Pentagon labeling Anthropic a supply chain risk and banning its tech in military contracts, civilian agencies can collaborate with the firm. Anthropic is contesting government restrictions in court, with a recent ruling blocking the Pentagon ban.

Treasury and Energy agencies aim to use Mythos to protect critical infrastructure. The public release of Mythos is delayed due to safety and computing concerns, while officials balance access with security risks.

Should the government restrict advanced AI tools like Mythos until all potential security risks are fully understood?

Netflix Shift

Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings will leave the board in June after 29 years. Netflix reported Q1 revenue of $12.3 billion, up 16%, with net income of $5.28 billion, boosted by a $2.8 billion breakup fee from Paramount after Netflix dropped its $72 billion Warner Bros. acquisition bid.

Netflix’s Q2 forecast missed estimates, with EPS of 78 cents versus 84 cents expected, causing shares to fall 9%. U.S. subscription prices increased in March to $8.99-$26.99 monthly.

Co-CEOs Sarandos and Peters prioritize quality content, technology, monetization, expanding sports, and mobile video formats. Management emphasizes M&A discipline amid stalled user growth.

How often do you use Netflix for entertainment?

You spend 40 years building wealth for your kids.

Then a judge hands half of it to an ex-in-law you can't stand.

It happens every single day. It’s called the "Wealth Hijack."

Most people think they are safe. They have a will. They have a revocable trust. They even made their kid sign a prenup.

Spoiler alert: Divorce lawyers eat standard prenups for breakfast. One wrong bank deposit, and your family's money is legally theirs.

Right now, $124 trillion is changing hands in the Great Wealth Transfer. Family lawyers know this. They aren't just fighting over a couple’s joint checking account anymore. They are actively targeting your legacy.

But the ultra-wealthy don't lose their money in divorce court. Why?

They don't use standard trusts. They use a "Bloodline Fortress" featuring a "Floating Spouse Provision."

The exact second an in-law files for divorce, a legal trapdoor opens. They get absolutely nothing.

I just published a deep dive on exactly how this legal siphon works—and the exact script you need to give your lawyer to stop it.

Read the deep dive here before your kid’s next anniversary.

Job Market Balances

Weekly U.S. jobless claims fell by 11,000 to 207,000 for the week ending April 11, below forecasts, the largest drop since February.

Continuing claims rose 31,000 to 1.818 million. Employers added 178,000 jobs in March, after losing 92,000 in February, but December and January job totals were revised down 69,000.

Major firms like Morgan Stanley, Amazon, UPS, and Block announced layoffs. Hiring slowed due to tariffs, federal cuts, and high interest rates. Inflation rose 3.3% year-over-year in March, driven by sharply higher gas prices.

Oil prices dropped to about $92 a barrel, still 37% above pre-war levels. The Fed held rates steady amid inflation and labor market uncertainty.

Do you believe the current low unemployment claims accurately reflect the overall health of the U.S. labor market?

Sky Bunks Launch

Air New Zealand will offer lie-flat Skynest sleep pods for economy passengers on its Auckland-New York Boeing 787-9 flights starting November.

The six triple-tier pods allow four-hour naps during the 16-18 hour flight and measure 80 inches long by 25 inches wide at the shoulders, narrowing to 16 inches at the feet. Entry requires bending or climbing since there’s no sitting headroom.

Pods cost at least NZ$495 ($291) extra. Rules prohibit snacking, children, and perfumes; passengers wear airline-provided socks and must fasten seatbelts over blankets.

Pillows and linens are refreshed after each use. This is the first lie-flat option for budget flyers and complements fare hikes amid rising fuel costs and route cuts.

Cancer Detection Blood Test

UCLA researchers developed MethylScan, a blood test analyzing DNA methylation to detect cancers, liver diseases, and organ damage early.

It removes unmethylated DNA from blood cells, enhancing detection sensitivity and lowering sequencing costs to under $20 per test. Tested on 1,061 samples, MethylScan detected 63% of cancers overall and 55% of early-stage cases, with 98% specificity.

It identified nearly 80% of liver cancers in high-risk patients at over 90% specificity. The test also distinguishes tissue of origin and classifies 85% of liver disease cases correctly, potentially reducing biopsies.

Machine learning interprets complex methylation patterns. Further large studies are needed to validate results.

Would you take a blood test that detects multiple diseases even if it only catches about 60% of early-stage cancers?
