Trump’s Conditions for University Funding
The Trump administration sent a memo to nine top universities demanding new conditions for federal funding, including capping international undergraduates at 15% with no more than 5% from one country, freezing tuition for five years, requiring standardized tests, and banning race, sex, ethnicity, political views, or gender identity in hiring and admissions.
Schools must protect academic freedom but eliminate units discouraging conservative ideas, prohibit disruptive political protests, and maintain single-sex bathrooms. Benefits for compliance include priority access to federal loans, grants, research funding, visas, and tax advantages.
Violations risk losing federal funds for two years. Harvard is separately negotiating a $500 million settlement with the administration.

Intelligence on Russian Energy Targets
The U.S. will share intelligence with Ukraine to support long-range missile strikes on Russian energy infrastructure such as refineries, pipelines, and power plants.
This policy shift, approved by President Trump, aims to disrupt Moscow’s war funding sourced from energy exports. The U.S. is also encouraging NATO allies to provide similar intelligence and is considering supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles like Tomahawks, capable of striking deep into Russian territory, including Moscow.
Ukraine is developing its own long-range Flamingo missile. The move follows G7 efforts to pressure Russia through sanctions and bans on oil imports. Russian officials downplay the impact and express skepticism about missile deliveries and use.

Medicare Advantage Shakeup
CVS, Humana, UnitedHealth, and Centene will reduce or adjust their Medicare Advantage (MA) coverage in 2026 due to government reimbursement cuts and rising costs.
CVS’s Aetna drops prescription drug plans in 100 fewer counties; Humana cuts coverage to 85% of counties and 46 states; UnitedHealth exits 109 counties but maintains 94% coverage, focusing on HMOs; Centene expands slightly, adding 51 counties.
MA enrollment is expected to fall to 48%, about 34 million people. Plans will often have $0 premiums and copays, with strong supplemental benefits.
CMS expects average premiums to drop from $16.40 to $14. Telehealth policies will tighten, requiring some in-person visits starting October 2025.

Big Tech has a playbook: when you're late to a hot market, you buy your way in.
Right now, Apple is staring down a $158B smart home market and they're miles behind Google (who paid $3.2B for Nest) and Amazon (who paid $1.2B for Ring).
With their new smart home products, Apple just fired the starting gun. The multi-billion-dollar question is: who will they buy?
My money's on one startup. They have 10+ patents, distribution in Best Buy, and their revenue doubled YoY. They're a prime acquisition target.
Early investors in Nest and Ring made fortunes. History is repeating itself.

Hackers Demand $50 Million Ransom
Hackers claiming ties to the cl0p ransomware gang are demanding up to $50 million from companies, asserting they breached Oracle’s E-Business Suite.
They targeted executives with extortion emails and provided screenshots and file structures as proof. The attack focuses on Oracle applications managing finance, supply chains, and customer relations.
Cybersecurity firm Halcyon reported the high-volume campaign. Google stated it lacks sufficient evidence to confirm the breach. Oracle and cl0p have not commented. Cybersecurity teams are actively investigating and responding while verification efforts continue.

Cancer’s Hidden Power-Up
Cancer cells under mechanical compression form nucleus-associated mitochondria (NAMs) in 84% of cases, compared to almost none uncompressed.
Within three seconds, nuclear ATP levels rise 60%, fueling DNA repair and cell division. Without this ATP boost, cells fail to divide properly. In breast tumor biopsies, NAMs are three times more common at invasive fronts than tumor cores.
Actin filaments and the endoplasmic reticulum create a scaffold trapping mitochondria near the nucleus; disrupting actin halts the ATP surge. This energy boost may be targeted to block cancer invasion without harming healthy cells. The finding recasts mitochondria as dynamic responders to mechanical stress.

Caffeine Pouches Risks
Caffeine pouches deliver 25–200 mg caffeine directly through the gums, causing faster effects than coffee or tea. A single pouch can exceed daily safe caffeine limits for teens (about 400 mg for adults).
Risks include jitteriness, anxiety, insomnia, heart palpitations, dependence, and worsened mental health symptoms. Heart patients face added risks, especially during intense exercise.
Caffeine-related deaths are rare but linked to high-dose supplements. In the UK, pouches lack clear regulation and labeling, often appealing to teens via flavorings and packaging. Canada bans them, with Health Canada enforcing import restrictions.
Social media drives youth use, sometimes combined with nicotine pouches, raising safety concerns. Experts call for moderation, warnings, and age limits.
