Gaza Peace Proposal
President Trump and Israeli PM Netanyahu announced a 20-point Gaza peace plan calling for an immediate ceasefire, hostage exchange within 72 hours, staged Israeli withdrawal and Hamas disarmament.
Gaza governance would be led by an apolitical Palestinian committee, overseen by an international “Board of Peace” headed by Trump and including former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The plan excludes Hamas from governance and limits the Palestinian Authority’s role. Hamas holds 48 hostages; 20 are alive.
Hamas has not officially accepted the plan but pledged to review it. The Palestinian Authority supports the effort. Implementation depends on Hamas and Israeli cabinet approval.

Countdown to Shutdown
The US government risks shutdown at midnight due to a funding impasse. Democrats want health care protections tied to the Affordable Care Act included; Republicans seek a short-term spending extension without healthcare until November 21.
Vice President JD Vance predicts a likely shutdown. If unresolved, thousands of federal workers, including NASA staff, could be furloughed, courts might close, and grants delayed.
The Department of Health and Human Services plans to furlough 41% of staff and limit clinical study admissions. Labor will suspend economic data releases; Veterans Affairs will maintain benefits but halt cemetery upkeep. The IRS will continue operations using Inflation Reduction Act funds.

Big Tech has a playbook: when you're late to a hot market, you buy your way in.
Right now, Apple is staring down a $158B smart home market and they're miles behind Google (who paid $3.2B for Nest) and Amazon (who paid $1.2B for Ring).
With their new smart home products, Apple just fired the starting gun. The multi-billion-dollar question is: who will they buy?
My money's on one startup. They have 10+ patents, distribution in Best Buy, and their revenue doubled YoY. They're a prime acquisition target.
Early investors in Nest and Ring made fortunes. History is repeating itself.

YouTube Pays $24.5 Million in Trump Suspension Lawsuit
YouTube settled a $24.5 million lawsuit filed by President Trump over his 2021 suspension after the Capitol riots.
Of this, $22 million will fund the Trust for the National Mall, supporting a $200 million White House State Ballroom project, and $2.5 million will go to other plaintiffs, including the American Conservative Union.
YouTube admitted no wrongdoing and will not alter its policies; Trump's channel was suspended in 2021 and restored in 2023. This settlement concludes lawsuits Trump filed against major social media firms.
Meta settled earlier in 2025 for about $25 million and Twitter (X) in February for $10 million.

The best investments don't just pay you.
They'll pay your kids. And one day, your grandkids.
That's why I own what I call a "forever stock." It pays income every single month — and it's raised those payouts again and again over the years.
It's the kind of investment you can treat like a family home or a treasured heirloom — something you pass down through generations.
It's not flashy. But it's steady. Reliable. And built to last.

New Tariffs on Lumber, Furniture, and Cabinets
President Trump will impose tariffs on imported lumber, furniture, and kitchen cabinets starting October 14: 10% on softwood lumber; 25% on cabinets, vanities, and upholstered furniture, rising January 1, 2026, to 30% and 50% respectively.
Citing national security under Section 232, the tariffs target wood products critical for military infrastructure. Canada, the largest U.S. lumber supplier, faces existing tariffs near 35% and has pledged C$1.2 billion in industry aid.
Tariffs on imports from the UK, EU, and Japan are capped at 10–15%. Mexico and Vietnam have increased furniture exports amid rising China tariffs.
How effective do you think imposing tariffs on imports is in actually supporting U.S. manufacturers long-term?Click to see live results and comment! |
Vitamin D2 vs. D3
New research shows vitamin D2 supplements can lower vitamin D3 levels, which may harm bone health and immune function.
Vitamin D3, produced by sunlight and found in animal foods, better supports immune pathways like type I interferon signaling. Vitamin D2, plant-derived and cheaper, is less effective and may reduce D3 levels below those of non-supplement users.
About 40% of UK adults risk deficiency in winter months when sunlight is scarce. Experts recommend vitamin D3 supplements over D2 and call for more accessible plant-based D3. NHS advises not exceeding 100 µg daily to avoid toxicity, which can cause calcium buildup affecting kidneys and heart.

Bacteria Within Tumors
Researchers discovered that bacteria within tumors produce 2-methylisocitrate (2-MiCit), a molecule from E. coli that enhances chemotherapy drug 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). 2-MiCit targets mitochondria in cancer cells, inhibiting an enzyme, causing DNA damage, and activating pathways that slow cancer growth.
Combined with 5-FU, it kills more cancer cells than either alone. Tests in human cells and colorectal cancer fly models confirmed 2-MiCit’s effects, including lifespan extension. Scientists synthesized a lab-made version with stronger cancer-killing ability.
This study highlights the tumor microbiome's role in improving therapy and advancing personalized medicine by incorporating patients’ tumor bacteria.
