Ukraine’s “Spider’s Web” Operation
Ukraine conducted a drone strike on Russian air bases, damaging over 40 aircraft, including nuclear bombers, and costing around $7 billion.
The operation, named “Spider’s Web,” targeted four military airports in Russia’s far east, planned over 18 months and involving 117 drones. This strike impacted 34% of Russia’s cruise missile carriers and was the first deep strike within Russia, 4,300 kilometers from the front lines.
In retaliation, Russia launched a drone attack on Ukraine, killing at least 12 soldiers. The ongoing conflict intensifies as both nations prepare for potential peace talks in Istanbul.

Victims, aged 52 to 88, suffered serious burns; two were airlifted to a burn unit. The FBI labeled the incident a targeted act of terrorism, with ongoing investigations. There are no additional suspects.
Local officials condemned the attack amid rising antisemitic violence in the U.S., occurring just before the Jewish holiday of Shavuot.

Conservatives Win Poland’s Presidential Election
Karol Nawrocki won Poland’s presidential election with 50.89% of the votes, defeating liberal candidate Rafał Trzaskowski at 49.11%. Voter turnout reached 71.31%, the highest since 1989.
A member of the right-wing Law and Justice party, 42-year-old Nawrocki promotes conservative values and prioritizes Polish citizens over foreigners. His presidency, starting August 6, indicates a shift toward nationalism and poses challenges for Prime Minister Donald Tusk regarding reforms.
Nawrocki received support from President Trump. He will play a key role in foreign policy and has veto power over legislation.

Sodium-Air Fuel Cell
Researchers at MIT have developed a sodium-air fuel cell that may revolutionize electric transportation, potentially replacing heavy lithium-ion batteries in aviation, rail, and marine sectors.
This fuel cell achieves over 1,700 watt-hours per kilogram, far surpassing lithium-ion’s 300 watt-hours. It produces no carbon dioxide, captures atmospheric CO2, and is safer and more sustainable, using abundant sodium.
MIT plans to demonstrate a drone powered by a compact fuel cell providing 1,000 watt-hours within a year.

Drug Duo Promises to Extend Lifespan by 30%
Researchers found that combining cancer drugs Rapamycin and Trametinib extends mouse lifespan by 30%, surpassing individual effects (5%-10% for Trametinib, 15%-20% for Rapamycin).
This combination leads to genetic changes, reduces chronic inflammation, and delays cancer onset, promoting healthier aging. Both drugs target the Ras/Insulin/TOR pathways.
While Rapamycin is known as a "geroprotector," Trametinib's longevity effects were previously untested in mice. Currently approved for human use, these drugs may undergo clinical trials to investigate benefits for humans in delaying age-related health issues.
