DC Shooting Fallout

Afghan immigrant Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a former CIA-backed militia member, carried out a shooting near the White House, killing 20-year-old National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom and critically wounding Andrew Wolfe. Lakanwal used a .357 Magnum and was wounded and hospitalized.

Authorities labeled the attack terrorism, planning charges with possible death penalty. The FBI raided multiple properties linked to Lakanwal. President Trump responded by suspending immigration from Afghan and “Third World” countries, reviewing Biden-approved asylum cases and Green Cards from 19 countries, and considering revoking citizenship of naturalized migrants deemed threats.

Trump blamed Biden’s policies for security failures and prioritized tightening U.S. immigration controls.

Should the U.S. immediately suspend all immigration from countries perceived as high-risk, even if it delays humanitarian aid?

Trump’s Miami G20 Summit

The 2026 G20 summit will be held at Trump’s private National Doral Miami golf resort, with attendance by invitation only.

Trump excluded South Africa, citing a dispute over the G20 presidency handover and alleged violence claims, which South African President Ramaphosa denied. Poland, surpassing $1 trillion GDP in 2025 and allied with the US on defense, may replace South Africa.

The US boycotted the 2025 Johannesburg summit, escalating tensions. This break from G20 consensus membership norms raises uncertainty about other nations' participation and risks undermining multilateral cooperation. Negotiations continue over the summit's format and membership.

Is it appropriate for one country (the US) to unilaterally exclude another (South Africa) from the G20 summit?

Two days ago, an executive at a popular company did something terrifying.

He didn't just sell a few shares to buy a boat. He didn't just "rebalance" his portfolio.

He sold everything.

100% of his position. $6.7 million. Gone.

He didn't give an interview about it. He just quietly filed a mandatory form with the government. If you own this stock, you are betting on a company that its own leadership just abandoned.

But that’s not the only signal flashing red (or green) this week.

At Amazon, we’re seeing a strange split. The CFO—the guy who manages the money—is quietly increasing his stake. But the Senior VP just dumped millions in stock.

One is buying. One is selling. Who is right?

Most investors guess. They read headlines and hope for the best.

You don't have to guess. We tracked the data, filtered out the noise, and found the signal.

Stop betting blind. See exactly who is folding their hand before the market catches on.

CME Futures Trading Halted

CME halted all futures and options trading for several hours due to a cooling failure at CyrusOne’s data center.

The outage disrupted key markets including foreign exchange, bonds, equities, and commodities, affecting major products such as WTI crude oil, Treasury securities, and S&P 500 futures on CME’s Globex platform. The EBS forex platform also stopped updating key currency pairs.

Trading stopped just after 2:44 AM GMT and lasted longer than a similar three-hour outage in 2019. The incident occurred after U.S. Thanksgiving when volumes were low, limiting alternative trading options and increasing market uncertainty amid ongoing volatility.

How critical do you believe centralized data centers like CyrusOne are to global financial market stability?

Hong Kong Blaze Claims 128 Lives

A fire on November 26, 2025, at Wang Fuk Court in Hong Kong killed at least 128 people, with 200 still missing and 89 bodies unidentified. The blaze spread rapidly across seven 32-story towers via bamboo scaffolding covered in flammable nets and plastic sheets.

Residents had warned about fire risks since September 2024. Authorities arrested three individuals linked to the renovation contractor, Prestige Construction. Safety inspections found aging fire equipment and issued multiple notices but deemed risks relatively low if welding was avoided.

Foam materials possibly accelerated the fire's spread. Construction workers reportedly smoked near scaffolding despite complaints. The government plans to review bamboo scaffolding regulations while investigations continue.

Sources: Bloomberg, AP News, Reuters.

Should residents have the right to demand independent fire safety audits on their buildings?

Dangers of Fish Bones

Swallowing fish bones can cause choking, throat injury, and intestinal perforation—a rare but serious complication mostly affecting adults. Fish bones cause 63% of gastrointestinal perforations related to foreign bodies, primarily in the ileum (45%).

Symptoms include abdominal pain, fever, and nausea, but diagnosis is challenging as ingestion often goes unnoticed. CT scans detect over 60% of cases, outperforming X-rays and ultrasound.

Treatment is usually surgical (79%), with laparoscopic or open surgery; some cases are managed conservatively. Risk factors include dentures, dental loss, and high fish consumption, especially in Asia. Prompt diagnosis and intervention reduce complications and mortality, which remains extremely low despite delays in care.

When eating fish, do you believe it’s better to carefully remove all bones before eating or rely on careful chewing and swallowing?

Hydralazine Fights Aggressive Brain Cancer

Hydralazine, a drug used for high blood pressure, inhibits the enzyme 2-aminoethanethiol dioxygenase (ADO), which supports glioblastoma tumor growth by producing hypotaurine.

By blocking ADO, hydralazine prevents degradation of RGS proteins that regulate blood vessel tightening, reducing blood pressure and slowing tumor growth. Lab tests show hydralazine halting glioblastoma cell proliferation. The drug also treats preeclampsia, a pregnancy-related hypertension.

Researchers suggest hydralazine’s known safety profile could accelerate development of glioblastoma therapies targeting tumor defenses with fewer side effects. Clinical trials are needed to confirm efficacy in patients. This discovery offers a potential new approach to treating aggressive brain cancer.

Sources: Sciencealert.

Do you think the familiarity with hydralazine’s safety profile makes it less risky to try in new roles like cancer treatment?
